wtf news so so here we go. New at 5, more than a dozen people have been arrested following an attack on a man just trying to get a soda at a bodega. It happened earlier this summer. You can see a crowd of people beating and kicking the victim. As News 4's Linda Beccaro reports, investigators say a well-known gang that's been plaguing Yonkers for years is behind this attack and many more.

A brutal attack outside of Yonkers bodega. The 33-year-old victim's teeth knocked out. Police say he was punched so hard it caused bleeding on the brain. He had nothing to do with anything. He was walking into the bodega just to get a soda. That's all he was. And I want people to remember that because it's important that this could have been anybody. Today, police announcing the arrest of 14 people, including three kids under 18, all said to be gang members. Police say have terrorized Yonkers for years. These 14 people are responsible for 17 assaults, 30 robberies and 10 firearm arrests. Just these 14 people are responsible for 17 assaults, 30 robberies, and 10 firearm arrests. City leaders say violence won't be tolerated. We want to be able to show the residents of our city and our county that we are committed to reducing the number of incidents in our street, especially gang violence. Do you think a big arrest like this will make any difference? I don't know. You arrest someone and somebody else is coming out. So it's a big, big problem of hitting junkers. Indictments in the June 17th attack were handed up Friday. We've learned four defendants are already out on bail.

If they're going to be back out, that's not going to change anything, right? So the laws have to change. The district attorney tells me some defendants could face mandatory sentences because of the seriousness of the crime, which she feels will come through with the help of the videos from the assault.
