So at Portland, we had like kind of a, it was in the first quarter,
and like we went on a run and then we just started sloping.
And like the starting five coach needed them.
But the TV people wanted AB, ALEO Boston.
And coach said, no, like we're talking about something.
And so they picked me.
They're like, all right, Sophie, you gotta go.
I was like, okay, I'll be your sloppy seconds.
Hello, Little West.
Sophie Cunningham.
What's up?
How are we?
The best, best ever been.
Actually, do I look tan?
You do look tan.
Really?
A little bit.
Yeah.
Little sunburn.
Okay, cool.
No, I like, I think I got burnt the first day, kind of, and then,
I'm good, but...
Where were you?
Wedding.
Yeah, in Italy for a little, but I try to get some sun.
Lucky.
Hey.
Because I was pale.
You look more tan also.
Hair?
Middle part?
Oh, Jay Lab.
J-Lab headphones.
We're 20 now.
Shout out, J-Leb.
Cute.
Oh, wow.
For those listening, Sophie's hair today, lots of volume.
I look like a lion.
And curls, though.
That's pretty, that, like, is good texture.
It is.
You know who's on my screen behind the camera right now?
Jay Williams.
Shout out Jay Williams.
Miss him.
I love him.
Dude, I've been listening to him so much just because like the playoffs and especially when
OKC and the Spurs were going, he had some great points, very valid points too, I'd say.
Great points. That's what he's known for.
Yep. Yep.
Um, to hop into hoops, fever, two-game skid.
It's okay early in the season.
Not doing so hot right now.
Um, talk to talk to me.
How do you feel?
First of all, we are circled on everyone's roster, right?
Or like, everyone's game schedule, we are the one circled.
We are the only team who has all nationalized televised games.
And just like people hate us and I get that.
Like I hate other teams too.
So that's nothing new.
But I just think everyone expects us to like leave off of where we were last year.
And yes, we have like some of the same players as last year.
But we also have so many new players that are playing huge minutes for us.
And I think it just takes a second to.
to get rhythm and chemistry and trust each other.
I think this is very normal team things,
but we have to do it sooner than later.
Everyone's a little frustrated with how we're playing,
because we all know we're better than it.
But I think sometimes you need this type of stuff
in order to get to the root of the problem of what not.
And then this is when the blossom.
So tonight we play Atlanta Dream.
Yes, we're on a two game losing streak,
which is not great.
They were on the road, no excuses.
We at least need to win one out of two
when you're on the road.
Like you need to win one of them,
especially when you're capable of winning them.
All teams are good this year,
so that also makes it a little more difficult,
but tonight is a big game for us.
Back to you saying everyone hates you guys.
Obviously, the CC part of it all,
I think right when she got into the league,
it was very clear that she was kind of getting bullied
and people were trying to make a statement.
Are there other aspects you think to the fever
that make other teams kind of put a target on your back?
I mean, you kind of could be one too.
It's like the shit talker. Yeah. Yeah. No, a thousand percent. I just think that we,
we just have get so much attention drawn to us. Um, yeah, nationally televised every game.
Yeah. And like, and like I understand it. Like when I wasn't on Indiana, like it was like,
oh, like you guys get all attention. We'll prove to you that you don't deserve the attention type
stuff. And so, and right now, like we, we are like a 500 team. Like we, we should,
We're in the bottom of the pack right now.
Like, we have got to be winning these games that we're losing.
And the only thing I appreciate right now is like,
first, we're not going to peak too soon.
I said that multiple times already on this podcast.
And two, I think I'd much rather be going through the trenches right now than in September and October.
So like, it's part of the season.
We're just like, everything we do is just highlighted and on a, you know,
microscope, everyone's watching every little thing we do.
And I think there's some moments that I see a,
in our rundown that we want to talk about that's kind of been blown out of proportion,
you know, with stuff going on with our team during timeouts and whatnot. But I think these are
all learning lessons. It's an opportunity to grow and get better. And sometimes you just need kind
of the ickiness in order to start building that chemistry and trust, you know.
I do think as someone who, again, like a football guy where you don't really ever have
time to kind of like go on losing streaks or whatever, I do admire, all right, I value an NBA
schedule or excuse me like a wnba NBA NBA schedule that you you are given time to like
fuck up a little and fix it and get better where like football are just because i played for my
whole life have never been given the opportunity to like have growing pains and learn from them
you have to be good every single weekend and so i think there's beauty to like struggles like
you said especially when you have enough games to like rewrite your ship but yeah uh you mentioned
And sideline or timeouts.
Yeah.
I came across my desk, a little clip of CC with your coach.
Were you, like, I mean, I think most athletes would be like, that's just someone who cares
about winning and like has passion and energy, but I'll let you kind of give everyone
the inside scoop to what happened there.
You know, I don't even know if there was like any inside scoop.
I think that their stuff.
and CC are two very competitive people who just want to win.
And sometimes you bump heads.
But it was all out of good intent of wanting the same thing.
And at the end of the day, we were not playing good.
I'm not condoning her actions.
Like I think there's room to grow in how you respond to things.
But she would say the same thing.
And her and stuff are fine.
And that's like their relationship.
And later that night or the next morning, they hugged it out and they talked about it.
Like when you are in high competitive situations, pretty much,
four days out of the week, like stuff is going to happen.
But like I said, our stuff is just under a microscope and everything you do,
everything you say is going to be a highlight reel for somebody.
And I think media loves to create division where there's not always division.
And so it's two competitive people who want to win at a high level.
And I think that's really all it was.
And so if you don't know that, if you don't know them, was it a bad look?
Maybe.
But at the end of the day, it's two people who want to win.
Not the first person to ever do that.
No.
And then they made a big deal out of her skipping media.
Do you, as someone who loves a post game interview, thoughts?
Oh, she skipped.
She skipped post game media?
Against the Valky, I believe.
I don't think that there was anything.
I think she had to get like her, she didn't get her game left in before the game.
So I think she had a lift after the game.
Like, I don't think there was anything to that.
Yeah, I don't know.
Yeah, she's just in the gym, you guys.
Yeah, I really don't think there was anything.
to that. But again, like, people love to hype shit up, but I don't think there's really anything to hype up there.
A pre-game lift before every, it's like that's for like movement and stuff, right? You're not like moving weight around.
No, it's more. And some people do like a light lift. Some people like to get their muscles going whatnot. But it's mainly to like it's more mobility. I would say than anything. It's more like that's okay. Like you're kind of if you play good or if we don't play good like people are just on rotation.
and maybe it was just not her night to do it, but I know she was like lifting or something after the game.
So actually, I think this would be interesting to talk about. Do you know if your contract has
clauses for like when you're available to media? So like last night watching
Spurs Knicks. Such a game. Between first and between first and second quarter,
like Kat did an interview and I'm like no one would ever want to do that or like you know when a
college football coach is like running off the field they have to do an interview like no one would
ever want to do that. It's got to be a part of obviously a contract. Do you know if you have to do
so many post games, pregames, uh, halftime, whatever? No, it's, it's literally, first of all,
who they might request, but mainly it's whoever's playing good. So if like Kat had a good quarter,
they're going to pick him, but you want to know it's funny. Can he, what if he said, can he say no then?
Wouldn't everyone say no? Yeah, so listen to this. So at Portland, we had like kind of a,
it was in the first quarter and like we went on a run and
And then we just started sloping and like the starting five coach needed them.
But the TV people wanted AB, Alia Boston.
And coach said, no, like we're talking about something.
And so they picked me.
They're like, all right, so if you got to go, I was like, okay, I'll be your sloppy seconds.
You don't, no one's required to do to do anything.
It's just first of all, who they select and normally who they select that they had a good
stint of plane and AB did.
So it makes sense that she, they requested her.
If I was a reporter, I'd love to have you.
You probably cuss on accident and say something insane.
Not on national television.
I only cuss here.
And I've tried to be better about cussing.
Ugh.
My mom brought that up to me actually also.
She said, she was like, you cuss so much.
And I was like, so to Sophie.
And she was like, true.
You guys both do?
Well, she does do.
Yeah.
You're talking about what happened the other night?
My first tech, which was the dumbest tech ever.
So this, oh, this was the second one.
So the whistle blew, the whistle blew and she fouled me.
And like, she kind of hit me.
hit me right here like my shoulder and I promised you I didn't even like mean to I didn't even
purposely do that in the moment like she just got my arm and it just like flung and put me like oh
like right there my shoulder oh you're okay your your your your your right hand swings around
though and hits her in the back of the head I'm not saying you did that on purpose but like she
I can I I bet she thought it right there she hit my shoulder and I could see why someone thinks
I did that on purpose but I promise you if it I if I did that
that on purpose, I would have made sure to hit her fucking hard.
Fuck yeah. But congrats on your first tee.
I should have made it better, Dan.
No, that's fine.

Game against Atlanta. How do we feel?
Um, like I said, this is a big game. We're on a two game losing streak.
Atlanta's very good. Um, they have Ryan Howard, who is a phenomenal player.
They have Alicia Gray, who are their top two players, two guards who can shoot the crap out of the ball.
Very fast, very, um, yeah, they're six and two second place in the WMBA, which we were there two games ago.
We were second place now we're ninth.
Things can change really fast.
And they they, they, it's Angel Reese's first year being down there.
She's a heck of a rebounder.
Um, and so it's going to be a good test for us.
But I think we actually kind of match up pretty well to them.
So okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. Uh, anybody's at home. Yeah. At home.
I think what do you what do you guys call the arena again?
Game bridge. Game bridge. Does anyone say that? No, but you can. Cool. Cool. Sounds good.
I don't know. I think the keys tonight is like clearly not letting them go completely off,
but it's also like their role players. If their role players start going off, that's where they
win their games. We got to contain them the, I don't know, I don't know. You have to think about
those three, but can't let the other ones go off. So it should be a good game. I don't know.
When you say role player, do you mean like the fourth and fifth best starter or do you mean the
bench? Because I actually, it's interesting that you say that. Great point. So I think,
Everyone has like a big two or like a big three.
They're actually their main post player is out.
She, I think she's out for the season.
She heard herself, I think during preseason or during training camp, which is
sad because she's really good.
Angel plays a four then.
I think she's their five.
She's their five.
I think really you have to contain her boxing out, but they're big two that you
really can't let go off is Ryan Howard and Alicia Gray.
Like those are their, they've been the faces of Atlanta.
But bringing and going recent gives them a different, a different look, I would say.
And so those big three, like you have to guard them and do their thing.
But role players, I would say, yes, would be like they're the other two players on the court and then their bench.
Like they have probably four other people that you have to make sure that you know what they do.
You have to know your personnel.
You have to lock them up and not let them get hot.
And so if you can do that, but again, Atlanta is very good.
So tonight will be a great test for us.
Let's go, Feeve.
Let's get back on track, Feeve.
We need to, big time.
Big time.
But you have a big game coming up tonight.
Maybe games-
Let's go!
Talk about it.
Talk about it.
Up.
Turn me up.
Okay, so we were the two seed.
I think eight teams made it.
So we played a first round game last week, which I was gone for.
But everyone held it down.
Apparently was close.
We walked it off.
That's scary.
Shouldn't have to do that against a seven seed.
And then tonight, because I think the summer league start soon,
they do semifinals and championship on the same day.
So 8.30 semifinals.
And then if we win that, then we move on to the finals.
So it's a lot of ball.
But we won a year ago this season.
So it was last spring.
Yeah.
We won it all.
And I'll never forget winning the simies game.
No one celebrated like Kobe mindset.
Like jobs not finished.
Oh, you guys locked in.
Yeah, because you got one more game to go.
So everyone's, yeah, the group text, the group text is buzzing today.
Wow.
A lot of shitty sports motivational YouTube videos.
Like that.
Quotes.
AI memes.
Like it's good.
Maybe I should bring that in the fever group chat.
Maybe we need a little, little inspo.
Let's see like what the last thing sent was.
Someone made a playlist this morning.
I mean, everyone's really ready to go.
It's also a beautiful day.
It's also a beautiful day in New York City.
But I will say, it's a kind of funny,
like Amanda was making fun of me.
We like care so much about like our lineup
and where people are playing and stuff.
But once you get to playoffs, it's really fun to like talk with everyone in the group chat,
like set a lineup and like place everyone because like I've said a hundred times.
It's co-ed.
So like you have to have so many girls have to kick every three kicks.
Yeah.
And you have to have so many girls on defense.
And so wait, is the manda on the team?
No.
It's this is like, these are like my, we've had this team for like three years.
And everyone comes back.
Everyone resigns?
For the most part.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I like that.
So I would say you put your most stud girl at first.
Okay.
Because it's like, it's like just rip.
It's like, boom, boom, boom.
And then a lot of teams have a girl pitcher, girl catcher.
And then we have another stud girl named Una.
Shout out Una who plays second.
Well, I was gonna say, kind of having a girl catcher could be dangerous.
Because people are running at home.
Well, and I feel like they have to like make a move on the fly sometimes.
Yeah, everyone's gotta be locked in.
And I think having.
Her name's Una.
Una.
Yeah, shout out.
Did she not be on first?
But she's a stud.
I feel like first needs to be a badass.
First and second.
Studs.
Oh, oh.
First is good.
Okay.
I got you.
Usually it's Reagan.
Tonight's going to be Colby.
Okay.
All studs.
And I think all three of them played sports at college.
Oh, then you're fine.
Yeah.
I'm thinking I don't know this.
Then, yeah, you're fine.

A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game.
It's your culture.
I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull.
It is an American game.
The Brazilians don't like it.
Are they the only ones that don't like that?
Nobody likes that.

What was I going to say?
Look.
Something about kickball.
Who fucking knows? But
wait, do you like stretch
before? Great question.
I've pulled hamstrings in this league.
And I always say it's lame to stretch before to be like the guy stretching and doing warmups,
but it's more lame to be the guy who shows up to work on Monday and is like,
I literally pulled my hamstring at Coed kickball.
Dude.
Can I just say-
Remember my ankle?
Yes.
Like, I honestly think that it is, I'm getting to the age where you have to stretch.
Yeah. I always have to like, oh, I'm fine.
But like, I am literally getting to the age where you have to stretch.
Kev is Mr. pulled hamstring himself.
Really?
Dude, I go, when I go to play ball, I show up half an hour early just to stretch it out.
I do all my weird walks.
You have to.
Andrew will be like, oh, I'm late for work today.
So I just hop straight into deadlifts.
No.
I'm like, yeah.
Can't do that.
It was very great.
Can't do it.
I love you, Dr.
Can't do it anymore.
We're all kidding.
So, yeah, I would say honestly, most of this team,
is there 15 minutes early like doing Palestinians?
I might tell, I might, I might send a text that says no beer tonight
until after. Because sometimes people are drinking in the dugout, you know?
I feel that. But do they play better? So they are a little buzzed?
I'm worse buzzed.
Yeah. Okay, can we talk about this?
Yeah.
There are so many people, I wouldn't say so many people, but on the NBA side, I know there is, that like, play high.
but they're better.
I, I, I couldn't.
Oh, you play basketball high?
I, so you know, it's funny,
I like to get a nice little buzz when I hit the court,
but I always do realize my second half is better than my first half.
So I think in my first half,
I just kind of going through the foot.
I don't understand it.
Like, I just don't get how people aren't sober playing.
I had teammates at college who would practice high,
like a full fucking 24 period D1 football practice high.
And I was like, how the fuck do you even make it through warmups?
I like, I just, it's so, it's fascinating.
But there are people who like really like to function well, like, I think you just like being high.
I don't know.
I'm not that way, but holy fuck.
Okay, but my thing is like if you, first of all, if you need that to function, you probably should see someone respectfully.
Like there's more going on to the story.
And I feel like sometimes it, people start.
start doing it because of the environment they're in and who they're hanging around.
And it's not like, you don't have to conform to whatever everyone else is doing.
Because like, though, I just don't. I don't get it. I don't get it.
There are people like I think I'm, I'm thinking of one person in particular who is in my
position group. So I was with him. Yeah.
Every day for four years. He's from that like from Southern California. Like he's been
smoking his whole life. I think that he just like is feels sharper.
high. And I don't, I don't know what that's like, because certainly that is not the case.
Well, that's what I'm thinking. I would say like for 99% of the people, that, that does not make you sharper.
Like I, we talk about this on the plane ride and we're all like, how do people, because I feel like,
people would be idiots. Didn't you tell me that you think you played better hungover once?
Um, no, I think in college, I, I don't think you get really hung over.
in college and I don't really like I don't condone this condone this but like I think we were all out at a
concert or something the night before and like we had to you had to lock in like you and I wasn't
I wasn't like hammered I don't think I was like hung over but I was out I was definitely out but I knew
I had to lock in because like they knew that I was out and I got in trouble because I was actually
going to a oh my gosh so-mo it was a
Somo concert. Do you remember Somo?
Is he like R&B?
Yeah. I know. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I think so.
So we, it was a Somo concert and like all my high school friends and everyone in college was
going. And I went and I actually wasn't, I didn't drink. I actually really didn't.
But I was out late and they found out. And I was like, okay, but I wasn't drinking.
They're like, but you still miss curfewed. And so I knew I had to like lock in.
And so then I played good. Anytime you walked in.
I got suspended my senior year for.
going to when Montana State played Montana in basketball, I went with like six other dudes to
Missoula where the University of Montana is and everyone drank before but like three of the guys were
like fucked up and we were sitting right behind like school like faculty and administration and stuff
and they're kind of beat like the student section obviously was like booing us and like doing
shit but they were like giving it back. Yeah. And it was my senior year and everyone else was like
junior sophomores whatever.
And I guess it was like a really bad look and I got to, it was spring ball so it didn't really matter.
It was like winter, winter conditioning.
But I got to spend it on a Monday for the rest of the week and I couldn't do it anything.
I think that's what it was is like at the end of day, first of all, you're in college,
but I got in trouble more because there was like a bad look and I broke the team curfew.
And I was like, okay, but I could have been, I could have been out out.
You know what I mean?
And I wasn't.
So I tried to plead my case and then I went in like-
She could have been shaking her ass until 3 a.m.
And she wasn't.
Could have been.
She was.
She didn't.
Yeah.
But I had a, I locked in.
So it's fine.
Whatever.
Fuck yeah.
College.
Oh, college.
Yeah.
The best.
All right.
We have one more topic.
So exciting.
Okay.
Not to be dramatic, but my J-Love headphones have basically become a personality trait at this point.
They are on 24-7.
And somehow the battery just,
refuses to quit. Like, I keep waiting for mine to run out and they're just like,
nah, we're good. And let's talk sound. These are super clear, crisp, and plenty loud.
I use the over-the-ear pair on flights and I'm telling you, game changer. Great for listening to
your favorite podcast. So whether you're locked in at the gym or viving out to your favorite song,

Or use code something on jolub.com for 20% off your order. The second part of the reunion,
dropped.
Yeah.
Wasn't much deep.
Like, I think the first one was,
I didn't really think anything of the second one.
Like it's kind of like anti-timatic.
I was like, oh, me.
That, that's, that is,
thank you for that.
I love hearing that.
Yeah, well, did you see that everyone said that,
because I went to a wedding in Italy with Amanda?
Everyone's like, they're fleeing the country.
What does it even mean?
They're fleeing.
I mean, I mean what it means.
But like, there are cops behind us as we were driving, driving to the airport, like OJ.
And we were hitting the country.
Can you just not go to a wedding though?
Like, do you have to be bling the country?
Yeah, no.
I don't.
I mean, people obviously said that before I think they knew that there was a wedding, but it's just like.
Also, whoever took the picture of us in customs, in the customs line at the Rome airport,
I know exactly what you look like.
I know exactly what you look like.
blonde woman. She walked through like this with her, she did like this the whole time.
Wait, I didn't see that photo.
It's like, it's like us standing with backpacks, like about to like, it's so stupid.
Wait, is this the Italy wedding you just got back from?
Uh-huh.
What? And people said you guys were fling the country?
But also, yeah, it was like my cousin got married. So I went.
I did see a funny. I wish I could find out.
I found a funny post.
First of all, the fucking photos of you guys,
like in every spot of Italy is like insane
that are on the internet.
So what's like, West made Amanda pick up a tab
at this restaurant.
I was like, oh damn.
Well, it probably was true.
I don't know where we were.
Wait, that's fucking crazy.
They watched your user credit card.
I handled the flights and the hotels, motherfuckers.
How's that sound?
It's okay to split, especially if your woman is making money too.
Like, I don't know.
Yeah. I mean, we've talked about this before, but I grew up in a house for my family, split the fucking bills.
Yeah. Wait, here's my only question.
Yep. This is literally my only question is when Amanda walked off the stage.
Oh, yeah. The Amanda getting up part, I knew, like, I knew it was going to look bad, but we talked before.
We were like, okay, I think it's going to be annoying as fuck for everyone there.
if we say the, if we like use the word we the whole time,
because like we have individual relationships,
friendships, friendships with all these people, like answer,
we should answer for ourselves.
It's not speak for each other because that would just be,
I just think that's a fucking corny-ass look to like,
try to like play the we card the whole time.
And we agreed like, like hold it down as individuals.
And so she got up.
I was like, one of us needs to be on the stage.
Because also, again, if I would have left right away and then we were both gone, then they're like, oh, these two people who are the reason we're upset both left.
Like, I think that would have looked mad, fucking soft, if we're being honest.
So.
And like, I wish Amanda didn't necessarily get up, but she had to take a break.
That's fine.
What did she say about it?
The break part or just the reunion or what?
Yeah, like the reunion and getting up part.
She agreed that I should have stayed there so that she was like she's a big girl.
Yeah.
You know, she was going to go fucking take a sec and come back.
And then, you know, I got yelled at enough times like I got up.
But it would have been weirder if she got up and then Kyle left.
Like Kyle almost went.
Like it was, it's just so fucking weird.
It is weird.
But I didn't want, I didn't want them all on stage without two of us.
I felt like that's a worse look than her going.
Like she, I knew she was fine.
There's a lot of that.
And I kind of knew, like I've been, I've done three of these now.
Like I kind of know how they're going to go.
It's not my style of conflict or communication, but, I mean, I'd be lying if I was like,
oh, I wasn't prepared for people to say mean stuff.
Yeah, and I think my dating patterns and dating style do deserve criticism, a lot of criticism.
But yeah, like there are some things or I was kind of like, what are we doing here?
I mean, the whole like, I'm a clout chaser with influencer friends like that everyone was stuck on.
My main friend group in New York is made up of zero influencers.
I have like a few influencer friends and have hung out with some influencers in New York because that's the like career that we all share.
but every single one of my
like best friends in New York City
are friends I've known
since before the show started.
Like that was kind of,
that part's always confusing to me.
Because I got,
I got day one homies, son.
And the like, clout chasing part of it,
I'm like, wouldn't the most clout chasing
move be to like date Sierra?
That would clearly benefit me more than
any other decision I've ever made.
Like I,
and yeah, and like the whole, like,
I'm super calculated shit.
If I was calculated, I would be in this fucking mess.
Like, I'm in this mess because I've made mistakes and, like,
walked around too much.
Like, I,
if I was calculating and trying to do the right thing and I would have just dated Sierra,
I'm like,
that,
that will never make sense to me,
but I,
like you said,
people are angry and have shit to talk. So that's what the reunion is for to let them do that.
But sometimes I'm like, what?
Did you guys, did any of you want to like stick up for yourself or like say anything,
but you just didn't have the opportunity to say anything because they just kept going at you
guys or? I think maybe one day the time will come to like really, really stand up. But like, I mean,
Again, I was like, dude, I did lie to you guys.
Like, you have every right to be upset with me.
I just know, like, meeting, meeting anyone on that level is not,
one, it's not natural for me in any capacity.
Two, I don't think that will ever in my lifetime be how I stand up for myself.
Like, it is so clear reunions are like not what.
what I am made for at all.
Yeah.
I will say like, and tell me your thoughts here, but like even kind, you were friends with Dara
before.
Oh yeah.
Like her kind of calling you out on your previous dating life and all that, like are, talk about
that a little bit because I think people want to hear about that.
But also are your relationships with other people in the house?
Are they starting to mend a little bit behind the scenes?
Like, where is everybody at?
Or are people still just trying to figure it out?
I think the reunion is good for people to just get shit off their chest.
And like, I kind of has every right to be upset, like you mentioned earlier.
And then again, we spoke a few weeks later, like I talked about last week.
I think he had the reunion to like be angry.
And then after that, we had like very civil swords down.
conversation. And so I do think if it was me, like, I think a reunion would be helpful to just like get my anger out and then try to communicate after. And like, yeah, I've talked to like a handful of people since. And it's obviously it's never going to be as high intensity as a reunion.
Yeah.

American soccer is exploding.
The knockout rounds are here.
The U.S. won their group, and now every match is winner go home.
I'm Tad Ramos.
And I'm Tom Boger.
On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, we'll talk about the.
the real storylines.
I'm not worried about Polisic, I'm not worried about Balagan,
I'm not worried about McKinney.
My only concern is what happens in the back.
And give you the truth about the US national team
from inside the program.
It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up
in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run
into the semifinals.
Whether you're a lifelong fan or this is your first World Cup.
We've got you covered.
U.S.
Hey!
Listen, inside American soccer with the semifference.
Tom Bogart and Tabramos and the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast.
I love the sounds.
The buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place soccer, football, at home.
Why do I watch the World Cup?
That's like asking me, why do I breed?
I inherited that fandom from my mom.
I like watching it with my dad.
It's a connecting force.
From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots.
We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great.
A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture.
I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull.
It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though.
Are they the only ones that don't like that?
Actually, nobody likes that.
As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer,
listen to American Football as part of the My Coutura Podcast Network,
available on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Dara, I've known her for a long time, so it obviously,
it hurts a little more to have, you know, a friend, like really fucking cookie like that in that moment.
But, like, I don't, I mean, the one thing, I think I've, I haven't run away from,
my bad, like, communication style or, like, dating history.
Like, it has not been clean in a long time.
She's valid for calling me out in that capacity because, like, yeah, I've dated, like,
casually and hurt people.
And so that one did stick out to me, honestly, a lot because I was like, oh,
this is someone who I've been romantic with and been friends with.
and like to have them kind of just give me the full scope of what that reads like to someone,
I guess, who's been a part of it in all facets. It's like, yeah, that's, um, yeah. It's a lot to
like take in, especially on that stage. But I mean, I've thought about it probably every fucking
day since then. Like she did, I'm pretty sure because I was like, what when she said it? She was like,
she's something about how I talk about getting a lot of chicks or whatever. And that's the one part.
I was like, I don't talk about girls really publicly at all.
I think that is actually kind of the problem is that I keep everything kind of a secret.
But I don't think anyone who knows me to be like, oh, West talks about like getting girls.
That's not a part of my personality at all, in my opinion.
But in the heat of all of this, I understand that.
accusation, but everything else, fair game.
Yeah. Wait, are they still, are her and KJ still together?
I don't know. I saw on the internet, the internet said they aren't, but I, I'm like not super
on the internet still. I think she articulated it fairly for the most part. You know,
I like have a lot of things to, to figure out. So it's all good. Yeah. Um, wait, so what was
everyone's response about like them monetizing off you guys.
I didn't really give a fuck. That's what the show is. That's what everyone does.
Like valid. That's a great point. Yeah, that's what everyone fucking does. And like, it's,
to me, I'm kind of like, oh, if you guys are like making jokes for money out of it,
then like you seem to be doing like, okay. So I would, I'm never going to like cry about
someone else making money. That's like the whole reason the show exists, you know.
I will say in Amanda's defense, I kind of did see your point where she'd be like,
I didn't really get involved in your stuff when you guys were going through it.
I kind of gave you that, you know.
Oh, that part. That's for them. But yeah, I mean, Carl and Lindsay had a massive like,
like a breakup, you know, two or three years ago. And I don't think anyone did commercials for
it, but I could be wrong. So. Okay. Well, that's enough of.
of that. We'll get you off the hot seat, but good until.

You guys want to talk some headlines, fun stuff in the sports news world. Oh, actually I got
I got one little last summer house adjacent headline for you here.
Surf Lodge has announced Popeyes is their official chicken tender partner for the summer.
So summer's upon us, Popeyes vowsy headed to the Hamptons.
How are you guys feeling about that?
So, Sophie, just for the, like, for clarity, surf lodge is the,
Now where you guys always go?
Not on the show, but we go on, like, Sundays after we're done.
Oh, okay, okay.
It's just the sceney spot.
Like, it's, to get a table is, like, probably fucking $9 million.
I don't even know.
Because I hear people talk about it.
I think I've heard you talk about it or something.
Probably.
But the, um, they're no, like, this is why I'm confused.
I mean, no, Popeye's probably threw them as a million dollars, but they were already
known for their in-house chicken strips.
So they bring out like a tower, chicken strips fries.
But so now, I guess maybe they have to hire one or two less like frying cooks this
summer and they, wait, no, but how do they, is Popeye's bringing them in?
Like, to be a Popeye's chicken strip, doesn't it have to be made into Popeyes?
I don't know how this works.
We're getting down to the nitty gritty.
Kev, what is going on here?
Oh.
Hey, I'm not even going to lie to you though.
And like, I get it if their chicken strips were already good.
Like, I can see why this could be sad.
But honestly, Popeye's chicken is so good.
I like all fast food fried chicken so good.
Remember the Popeye's chicken sandwich craze when they first dropped their chicken sandwich?
Everyone was like, yo, this is the best chicken sandwich.
I think Chick-fil-A still holds the top ranking, but they're never around on Sunday when you need them.
So for that, I think Popeyes was able to bridge the gap.
It's like 1A-1B.
Can I say something that is so not with the majority?
I was literally talking about this yesterday.
Chick-fil-A breakfast, I will seek out.
And I think it is hands-down, one of the best, like, fast food breakfasts, like, all that.
Biscuit?
I'm not.
I don't crave or I'm not necessarily like obsessed with like their lunch and dinner.
I think I think chick filet is fucking the most overhyped shit ever.
It's a fucking chicken patty on a biscuit.
And it's good.
Their mac and cheese is good.
And like their chicken noodle soup is weirdly really good.
But like I just I think it's over.
I think it's overhyped.
There's not a lot of variety to the menu in my opinion.
Like it's like three sandwiches.
But dude, but they're.
I get the hype.
The breakfast is phenomenal.
I get that at the airport a handful of times.
Oh, so good.
But I'm Popeye's through and through.
I think that I think it's good.
I know so it's got to go soon.
So let's do one quick one.
Our reaction to the Knicks,
what you guys are thinking for the rest of the finals
and three ad reads,
and y'all are good to go.
I almost lost my voice yesterday at the gin mill.
Shout the gym mill.
Great place to watch the game.
Wow. Upper West Side?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Fun fact.
I worked at the gin mill for one.
one day. I like, I worked, I brought a resume into the gin mill and I served beer for like a
private party in the basement for one night at my back hurt. And I was like, I gotta find a real job.
Then you quit? One and done. Yep. Dude, I think, I think this is going to be a phenomenal
series. Like that was a great game, a great game. I am like, I thought I'd move to New York and
be like, okay, go giants and Yankees. I don't give a fuck about them. I'd
do, I kind of hate the Yankees, obviously, but I think the Knicks are so fun and good for New York City.
And like, their fans give me college feel, like the fact that I don't know, like, there's so many people outside MSG.
Like, the Knicks are so good for the NBA and so good for New York.
I, in coming off of 10 years, or it was just like, whatever fucking team LeBron was on playing the Warriors in the finals, I think it's so
cool to have the Knicks with like an average height point guard and like a good like as we were
talking about earlier like role player like it's so cool to have two non-hatable teams in the
oh i know it but just like the first of all they can never take victor out i know he needs a break
but when they took him out that's when the Knicks went on their like little like run i think in the
in the fourth but it was oh my gosh like it is just the matchup is so good
And you're right.
Like I think everyone kind of gets annoyed with like Knicks fans, but at least they're fans.
Like at least they're true through and through.
And I like, you have to appreciate that.
In my Bleacher Report days, I got so fatigued from doing NBA events because I was like,
everyone in these arenas are rich dudes with fucking collared shirts on or people like are girls
or girls with BBL wearing like Jordans and Knicks fans like really want them to win.
It's not for the scene.
It's not to like say I went to a fucking NBA game.
They like love the Knicks.
And I think that's beautiful.
Yeah.
And then the Spurs, like they just haven't been there in so long and just like they're
young bucks and they just work hard.
They play hard.
Victor's a monster.
How many NBA markets do you think have people like climbing street poles when they
win playoff series?
I don't, I truly don't think there's a lot.
I think it's like the Knicks.
Celtics, no one in LA, to be honest, maybe Lakers, but like, I just, I don't think
it was last year. Pacers last year, it was like popping.
Okay, good.
It was fun.
Like, it was, it turned the city up.
And I think that is so fun that sports can do that and like bring a whole freaking state
together.
Like, that's badass.
Here's my take real quick is I have more friends on the Knicks.
And so I'd really love to see them get a championship.
But for some reason, I also.
would love to see
Pop get one more
just because of all his health issues
like he's not
I know he's not he's not the coach
but he's still like around
and like yeah yeah beloved and
but Victor and them just
being so young and them coming together like
I think it's going to be cool to see either team win
but I think I have more friends on the Knicks
so I think I would
Knicks winning game one in San Antonio
I think probably Nixon
seven
Seven.
I think it'll go seven.
I think the Knicks winning game one in San Antonio is pretty big for the series.
I don't know if they'll finish it, but that's like, that's huge for them.
They haven't fucking lost.
They've lost like three games, this whole fucking playoffs.
Dude.
So, I mean, I agree with that.
But I think they're just so good that you know the spurs are going to get one in the garden.
Yeah, for sure.
But I also, Wimby played like ass last night.
He's not going to, he won't do that every single game.
Okay, but, um, first of all, J.B. Jalen Brunson.
We're, we're, and his wife is really cool.
First of all, how, I don't know how he's so good, but he's so good.
Do you know Dave played AAU with Jalen?
Oh yeah.
Like Rockbridge, Dave?
Yeah.
He sent me this this morning.
It's kind of fucking insane.
But OG is from Jeff.
Oh, Jeff City.
Yeah.
Mikhail Bridges, we were friends with at the Suns.
He was with the Suns when I was out there.
So was Landry, Shammett.
Shammit had a great series last series.
Jordan Clarkson was a Mizzou guy, friends with Lindsey.
There's just like a lot of just like weird connections.
But like, I'm not like best, best friends with them, but like we all, we all.
Is Jordan older than us?
He's Lindsay's age.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's when he had a buzz cut.
Yeah.
That's crazy.
But you know what?
Real quick, I think that Josh Hart might be one of like my favorite teammates.
Like he has no ego.
He's a, he just does whatever the team needs.
And like, he's a fun dude.
Like he brings, he brings the vibes.
And I appreciate that.
That was a thicky today.
Was, that was a good one.
That was a thicky.
Good luck to both of our teams tonight.
We're both to back with dubs.
Huge.
Oh, and shout out Bulldog Saloon and Whitefish, Montana.
If you ever go there, get the Huckleberry Wings.
Boom.
Bye.
