I'm telling you, and I spill pretty much everything on this podcast,
that is the exact play we freaking drew up.
We literally drew up.
And so they just messed up on defense.
Like there was a miscommunication.
There was a cross screen.
I think Kelsey to either C to Lexi.
Yeah, C to Lexi.
And they both went with Lexi.
So they both to and it left C wide open.
And we were going to see anyway.
And so, and of course, like, if someone's open originally, like you give them the ball.
Like if Kelsey's open to get a layup, yes, if A.B. was open.
But like the play was to go to C.C.
Like it was perfectly executed.
Well, good morning.
Holy freaking heck.
Can you tell?
Do I look hungover or no?
Well, I think you and Kev both sound a little bit, but you know,
Knicks won.
Like.
Let's go, Nick.
Yeah.
Missouri represent.
I was just going to say, we're going to have to say it right out of the gate.
Yep.
That was a mid-mo bucket, bitches.
And he went off the entire game.
It wasn't just that shot, but that just was the cherry.
on top. I don't think OG missed a shot in the second half. So for those not from the Missouri area,
Sophie and I are from Columbia, Missouri, OG and Ninobe is from Jefferson City, which a lot of people
don't know is the capital of Missouri. Give it up for the capital of Missouri, Jefferson City.
Love. Love. That is, so if you're going to go from Sophie and I's hometown to like the Ozarks,
that's just like you pop, you pop through Jeff City, right, where OG's from, and then you're,
and then you're right in the Ozarks.
But shout, shout out.
That was awesome.
Dude, that game was insane.
Actually, the whole series has been insane.
I thought that the Spurs were gonna get it.
I mean, they were down 29, down 29.
And then Josh Hart misses the layup with like, what?
I've seen so many clips of how bad of offense the Spurs played in the last 10 minutes of basketball.
Yeah.
Apparently they put up like more than 10 threes with more than 10 seconds on the shot clock.
Like they, they were, it was horrible basketball.
And like, I'm no one to judge clearly.
But is it too simplistic to say it that it's all nerves like in the end of that fourth quarter?
Like why they were playing poorly.
I know what do you guys think?
It's coaching.
Isn't it so?
No, I think I think you just sometimes get rattled.
And I think that's kind of why experience matters, especially in playoffs.
And like, or or adversity during the regular season.
because then you've been there and you know how to handle it.
And I think Mike Brown, he was like, during the regular season,
I think they were like on a two and nine losing streak.
And he was like, I hope adversity keeps hitting.
Like he wanted stuff to happen because then he knew that they would all be prepared
for these types of moments.
But I think the spurs just kind of like, I don't know.
There's just like simple mistakes and like Darren Fox like pull that out.
You're up.
Yeah.
Pull that out.
Like there's just like little things.
like that that I don't know if he thought he got a wide open layup, but it's just little things.
Didn't you and I talk literally last week about going through tough times in the beginning
of the season so that when like shit actually matters, you're weathered.
It's real.
And you can.
Yeah, of course.
And I know you talked about it because you said like during football season, you really
don't have that luxury to like be losing games.
But in the basketball sport, you definitely do.
And not definitely like you always want to win, but it's like this.
You know, and then at the end of the season, you just want to be here.
And the Knicks proved that they were weathered.
And it was such a fun game to watch, like, in the fourth quarter.
Not to be like, oh, I bet you didn't have fun watching.
But as someone who watched that whole game from New York City, I just want people to know that like.
Wild.
I've only, and Kev, you can interrupt me like when you think I'm wrong or right, but like,
I've been here for like some Yankees playoff series fine.
Like, well, I don't think the Jester Giants have actually been in the playoffs since I fucking lived here.
But like last night was just game four and the streets were like on fire.
I will say real quick, the videos of these fucking kids beating up people in Spurs jerseys.
I hate that.
Fuck that.
Yeah.
Fuck that.
Like those also aren't even like, I know for a fact those aren't even like real fucking Knicks fans.
Those are people who like come into the city from somewhere else and want to go like start some shit.
Yeah.
Like that I can't stand that.
That being said, I was at a, I was at my boy's restaurant with friends.
Everyone left and like our friends left in the third quarter and we stuck it out and just like it was insane.
I love that.
I think a lot of people, or Kev, go ahead.
Because I knew you're, I know you're out too.
He was going to, he was going to say don't make Nazi Germany comparisons probably.
Less of those.
Only three of those a show.
Yeah.
No, it's like so unifying for the city.
You know, like I think, I think West brought it up in the previous podcast.
Like football is two teams, jets and giants, you know, baseball has two teams.
Like the Knicks, like, we're all we got.
And we've been so bad for so long.
In the last 25 years, I think we're top five in losses in the NBA.
So like we finally put it together.
We didn't sign a bunch of like aging old stars.
We actually built the team.
The power of friendship.
Nixon five.
No.
I, wait.
I also talk about why we want Nick.
And six, but I do like the Knicks because they're not, it's not like some fucking like,
there's no like LeBron signing or like Curry on his way out or like Miami Heedle.
Like there's no, these are all like dudes with chips on their shoulder who are like fucking
hard nose ballers. Kat was like a first overall pick which like whatever, but they are not.
None of these guys are superstars, so to speak, you know what I mean?
Yeah.
Like I think they're so Knicks and so New York and it's so cool that like they aren't they
aren't like a bunch of dudes who are like you know chasing titles on their way out these are
all guys who are fucking hungry and it yeah fucking rocks and it yeah it's so cool no I agree and I think
a lot of people on the outside because we're not in New York they're like oh we hate Knicks fans
and how they travel and take over Rinas I'm like that's what it's all about like that is that
is literally what it's all about and I think that we can have experience because of the Chiefs
And like how unifying like the chiefs has brought Kansas City, Mo, Kansas, like literally, anyone who's that type of fan, it just unites you.
And like when you win and you keep going, it's just, I don't know, I think sports brings a lot of different people together and it's so fun.
And I think you're seeing that with New York.
But I was about to say the same thing.
Those videos of like, and you know that they're just people who are trying to cause trouble and like ruin it for everybody.
Yeah.
But that sucks.
And I was like, come on, New York.
Yeah.
Be better than that.
But I love all the celebrations and like seeing the Knicks fans because they're true.
I like it.
You could tell me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the NBA has like the pure fandom that like the NFL does where you have like historic fan bases and like people who just want their team to win.
Like I just, the NBA, that's just not what I think of.
Yeah.
But Knicks fans are like are real as fuck.
Yeah.
I think there's certain.
I think the NBA overall no.
But I think like Lakers, yes, Nix, yes.
I think what other?
Who else?
You can say the Pacers if you want to.
Oh, yeah, Pacers.
Thunder.
Yeah, and a lot of these are like smaller markets.
Exactly.
The reason I said, Nixon six, this could be the best fucking thing ever.
So again, I thought fucking, I thought Tuesday,
my my bravo timeline like i thought i was going to get to like catch my breath yeah and we were all
moving on and then they were like bonus episode next week and i was like mother fucking fuck
if the spurs win saturday and they go back to msg and they play game six it will be tuesday
night the same time that they air this fucking goddamn bonus episode give me fucking nixon six
at the same time as this shit on TV,
I will be the happiest person in the motherfucking world.
Yeah, so this fucking bonus episode,
I thought we were going to get to talk about it, move on,
but I will wait another week.
But I swear to God,
give me the Spurs Saturday and the Knicks on fucking Tuesday night.
And we will pop champagne on this fucking podcast Wednesday.
Wait, another reason too.
If it did go to six,
would it be back in New York?
Yeah, so I think NBA's,
NBA is 2211.
Yeah.
And MLB is 2-3-2.
Right, Kev?
Game 7 is in San Antonio,
game 6 in New York,
so game 5 definitely in San Antonio.
The New York parade would be insane.
Yo, Taylor's going to have to find a new wedding venue
if we win game six in the fucking garden.
Yeah, real quick.
Yeah, why is she?
Why are they actually going to get married in the garden?
Or is that a rumor?
I think it's, no, I thought it was a rumor.
for like a few hours and then every big outlet reported it, which can confirm they don't,
they're also not always reliable. Yeah, facts.
Um, I fucking hate that three, I heard three days according to TMZ with three day rental
rumored to be a million dollars a day, a thousand guests. I mean, I guess it's their wedding
so our opinion really doesn't matter. But I just thought that it would be like somewhere in
in nature, a private, away from, like, you know what I mean?
I think it's so tacky. I don't know why. I don't know why you would ever do MSG.
And like, we aren't ones to talk, I guess. We're not engaged or married, but I'm just like,
I think that feels like a, like a concert or like a tour, like, are there going to be strangers
there? That's what I'm curious about. I don't, I don't think so. I wouldn't believe so. I think
I just thought that they'd be more like, I don't know, creative in a way.
Yeah, totally. I'm with you.
Like I'm not trying to talk smack because it's their wedding and if that's what they want,
then I'm sure it's going to be beautiful and stunning. But I just, I think everyone,
so many people have kind of been talking about it. I'm like, yeah, I have a little shot too.
Like that's a little unique. I agree. I'm very much with you.
Yeah. You think you get an invite or no?
No, why would I get an invite? I was, I probably, I don't know if I don't know if I'm
if I will. We'll keep checking the mail.
Well, speaking of other game winners, we had a game winner the other night.
Which caused a lot of fucking drama, you guys. You guys cannot stay out of the fucking
You know what's funny.
Rumor mill is like all of our new rookies, they're seeing that every little thing that they
like, every little thing that they post, even like the inside jokes or like what we call
each other, everyone just blows that out of proportion and like it's it drove a couple of them,
them kind of crazy like last week they're like how do you guys do this how do you like and i'm like
you just can't you can't think about you got to keep doing you don't let it bother you but being in
indiana everything is on full microscope times a million and like you you have to have thick skin
to play here because they eat everything up and like this this thing right here if uh the didn't
follow the plan thing yeah dude we'll get to that i feel like after i want well i want to give you the
floor well i just want to give you the floor well i just want to give you the floor well i just want to
you the floor to break down the play before we talk about what the drama was. But I also want to say,
I don't like read our comments that much, but like I saw last week, everyone thinks because I
ask you questions, it means I don't fucking know anything about basketball. Uh, do you guys
want me to talk about the fever? Like I know everything or do you want me to like let the
tee up Sophie to talk about it? Like I could be a know it all douchebag, but I thought you guys would
rather like let Sophie talk about it. So I ask questions. Yeah, they're they, they, they,
Again, they just like pick everything apart.
So what?
I know.
So you were, you inbound the ball to Caitlin hit a fucking pretty deep tray ball.
Yeah.
To win the game.
Yes.
But the internet had things to say about it.
They thought that wasn't the play you called.
Whatever, whatever.
You tell us what happened.
Okay.
So we honestly, we were up by 15.
We should have never been in that situation.
That's something our team has got to work on.
It's just like put the pedal to the middle, step on their necks.
Don't let them come back.
But we are in a growing period and we lost them.
Remember, like, we played them at the beginning of the year and it went into overtime and
like she hit another clutch, but we finally won this one.
So there's growth right there.
But they call the time out and I'm telling you and I spill pretty much everything on this
podcast, that is the exact play we freaking drew up.
We literally drew up.
And so they just messed up on defense.
there was a miscommunication.
There was a cross screen.
I think Kelsey to either C to Lexi.
Yeah, see to Lexi and they both went with Lexi.
So they both to and it left C wide open.
And we were going to see anyway.
And so and of course, like if someone's open originally, like you give them the ball.
Like if Kelsey's open to get a layup, yes, if AB was open.
But like the play was to go to CC.
Like it was perfectly executed.
I would counter.
with like it does seem like you wouldn't drop a play for you to throw the ball that far across the court.
Well, it wasn't. What she was supposed to do was it was a cross screen and then down screen.
So she was supposed to be like at the top of the key.
But two people- Closer to you.
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But two people went like Lexi drew two defenders. And so she went right where there was like wide open space. And like, that's why I grabbed her at the, because I was like, I thought I threw it because I thought she was going to continue to run to me. And that's why it was almost tip.
So like, everyone's like, oh, that was, I was like, no, that was the play.
See, like, and it worked out perfectly because there was no one around her after she caught it.
But I thought she was going to continue to run towards the ball and she stopped.
And so that's all like, so that was it.
Yeah.
How does it feel as a teammate knowing in those situations that you have someone on your team,
like when she lets it go and you're like following her shot back to the basket that it's more likely fucking money every time than not.
Like, I just, what a luxury.
Dude, you want to know what's insane, though?
We have her, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aaliyah that I feel the same exact way about all three of them.
And, like, no other team really has that.

The buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place

I inherited that fandom from my mom.

A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game.

I took an elbow to my head which cracked my skull.
It is an American game.
The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though.
Are they the only ones that don't like that?
Nobody likes that.

I do feel like with Caitlin and, I mean, the last two podcasts, we've talked about her a lot,
but I feel like I've gotten more like Cici just like talking fucking shit videos on all my
timelines more than I ever have.
Like I feel like she's just kind of, I don't know.
Maybe it's because like back from injury and just like making up for lost time, but I feel like she's like not here to fuck around with anybody right now.
And I don't know.
It's fun to watch.
Obviously, anytime I get a fever highlight, I like look for the fucking blonde girl with long sleeves running around.
But it is fun to watch how like fucking turn she gets.
Like she's a hooper.
Like she's like I would like you could put her in any park in.
in Manhattan or Brooklyn be like, go ball.
And she would like talk shit the whole time.
Like it's just, she's real.
It's awesome.
Yeah, it's been fun.
And I think that like, that's kind of where we're all out.
We're trying to find like the fun in it because that's when we're at our best.
And I think for certain people like, you know, talking a little bit of smack and, you know,
getting people riled up and getting the fans about like, that's part of what makes her,
her or like makes other people them.
And some other people, they'll hit the biggest shot and then they'll just be like how
OG was last night like, you know what I mean?
And so it makes it fun.
But I think, you know, we have a game tonight against Chicago and it should be a good,
another good game.
They have some good players on their team.
But like, I'm more worried about us right now rather than like who we're playing.
And we just have to stack our days because I think we're moving in the right direction.
And so that's positive, I guess.
Stacking good days.
That's a classic.
Right.
Yeah.
Okay, tonight game against the sky could be
fifth straight home win which we love and the what did i try to nickname your guys arena last
podcast oh uh yeah the bridge or something yeah but that's fire i mean okay like i know you said
you're worried about you guys not who you're playing like what do you and early in the season
what are you worried about or necessarily like or excited about like in house wait
Speaking of our game tonight, so that, that meme that we didn't get to that like,
oh, oh, oh, oh, sorry, sorry, sorry.
No, I just, I forgot about it too because that that's just like a funny meme.
Like I just saw that and like we all thought it was hilarious.
Everyone thinks I'm like suspended because of this.
Okay, I didn't want to bring that up, but my, so my group texts with all our boys from home,
like Sam, Clay, Dave, Bush, Gage, all of them.
Sam messaged me yesterday and he was like, Sophie posts a meme.
and then is questionable for tonight's game.
Like what's going on?
Like Astro on the podcast.
And I was like, there's no way this is like up as like weird as the internet people think it is.
Dude.
But it's like that is like look at our faces and like just how the game went.
Like it's just it was a funny.
It just had nothing to do with anything.
And so, but I know people are going to go like crazy of like, oh, something more is going on.
It's like, no, it's not.
For everyone not watching for everyone listening, it's a mean.
with Sophie and Caitlin like sitting in the locker room and it's like it's a bunch of word
bubbles and coach says you follow the plan right and then Caitlin says we may have improvised
and Sophie says oops and Caitlin says worth it oh oh is that AI or is that a real picture
I think it was actually like a real photo of because they film after wins and stuff like that
and I think like during it something like that happened it was just funny so I also don't
own the rights to that photo and i posted it so shout out to whoever did that
it's like low-key funnier that it actually might be real because they're pretty hilarious
the actual photo of us is real but all the other shit clearly isn't so oh those aren't real
we're bubbles well like the plan the like the clipboard and stuff like that is that i'm saying like
that's not real i don't know so if i've seen this i've seen this face before when i when i saw the
liberty game this past weekend she got less she was getting booed like insanely every time
she committed a battle.
I didn't know play good.
This one foul, she just rolled her eyes and the camera was all up in her face, just
like catch her sarcastic eye roll.
Yeah, I'm a little sassy.
I don't know how to explain this without it being like, like, I don't, I don't know.
It's not like misogynistic.
I just think you're such a fuck, you're like such a girl.
And it's fun to watch like you play basketball because you do the most girly shit ever
that like you wouldn't get in the NBA.
Like when you like blocks home girl like a few,
a few weeks ago and you did like this shit.
And then like eye rolling, like it's just funny because you're like just a sassy girl playing basketball.
And like I think it's very fun to watch.
And thank you.
Yeah, I like that's a draw for the W if people want to like get probably more.
Yeah.
Personality and like real.
Personality. Yeah.
That shit's so funny.
I knew Kev said that the like the.
WMBA put out, is it quarter, quarter season?
Yeah, ESPN put this out.
I think we're 12 games in, 44 game season.
So yeah, ESPN gave out some report cards for the quarter mark.
So, so if you wonder what you think you would give the grade the fever this year.
What I would grade us right now, I would give us a 62%.
Well, it's, I think it's probably like a letter grade.
Oh.
Well, so then that would be.
That's, I think that's like a C.
Well, 62 would be, and would technically be an F.
I think so far this season, we are a C just because we are inconsistent and like we haven't caught our rhythm.
But when we click, we're a freaking A plus plus.
Like.
Okay, let's go.
Yeah.
So we just got to get the consistency, consistency piece.
But I know that they saw, they said Olivia Miles was like up for rookie.
She's going to get rookie the year.
I don't know if anyone has watched her play, whoever's listening to this.
She is a beast, an actual beast.
Olivia Miles, baller.
Where'd she go to school?
She went to Notre Dame and then she went to TCU.
But dude, she is, I'm not kidding.
She, like, she just has like the wiggle of a guy.
Like, she is so good, her passing, her shooting, her court vision.
Like, she is good, good, good.
I like her.
And I know, I know if people think it's weird when, like, you compliment other people in our lead because you have to play against them.
But I also'm like, get this girl her flowers.
Like she is a freaking beast.
I'm a fan.
Is that weird to say?
You know what the NFL does?
I think is really awesome is they have the players vote on their top like 10 players at each position.
And then they do NFL top 100.
And it's based on peer players like rankings.
It's cool.
And so it's yeah, it's like purely based on other players.
And I think when that list comes out every year, it's like very, very interesting.
to see who incredible content.
I think that's cool.
Like I think it's, I know there's a lot of guys and I don't know, there's a lot
to choose from, but I think that our sport is always just like, so good.
I mean, so Zeres, but it's like always so in competitive and there's not that many of
us.
And so you're always going against each other.
But I think it is cool to like give people their flowers and Olivia, she 100% deserves
it because she is putting like the whole league on notice right now, like huge.
Yeah, she's good.
Okay.
Not to be dramatic, but my J-Love pedophones have basically become my personality trait at this point.
They are on 24-7.
And somehow the battery just refuses to quit.
Like, I keep waiting for mine to run out and they're just like, no, not, we're good.
And let's talk sound.
These are super clear, crisp and plenty loud.
I use the over-the-ear pair for flights, and I'm telling you, game-changer.

Oh, no.
I played so fucking bad, actually.
It's like, I went to the gym in the morning because I wanted to get the Italy.
I wanted to get the Italy wiggles out and get the wine out of my system.
and I think I had I had I had jello legs
it felt like the whole game
dude I
so if you kick a foul ball if you kick three foul balls
it's an out so like you should never do that
like kick like put the fucking ball in play
my first at bat three fouls
and dude I just like I just didn't have it
I don't know what it was
was the semis did you win this I know the double header
it was it was it was semis dude
you didn't really
And like, and like,
championship?
No.
And obviously right now, my life is a little like chaotic and just kind of like everything
feels heavy.
Kickball was like my one out.
Kickball was like, I look forward to seeing my friends and like running around on a field,
nothing mattered and losing that game.
Fucking broke my fucking spirit.
Maybe you could keep it going though.
Like you guys go out there for fun.
There, I think the group taxes talk about team dinner.
So we'll see if that happens.
Wes, you had to go to Winter League in the DR.
Yeah.
Yeah, work on work on everything.
And I woke up and we lost and I was like, I was fucking sore and like, I was like, damn, bro.
This shit, shit hurts.
Wait, also, I bought, I went to a vase store when we were in Sicily and I made them
ship it. How cool is this?
Is it heavy?
It's heavy.
It's like a, oh, wow.
I don't have flowers in it yet, but like, is that not sick?
That's kind of hard. Wait, I actually really like that.
No, it's fucking rocks. It's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, wait, so.
Beautiful. You get that shit from Italy. Mom, Lindsay and like the two girls are here.
And mom works at Crane's country store and like,
You know, they're known for their sandwiches.
They're like one, two dollar sandwiches, baloney sandwiches.
Oh, sounds so good.
I'm not one after.
But I get shipped a whole bunch of like cranes hats and shirts from her and then you get shipped that for Italy.
Living two different lives.
Can Paulus and Mia Cranes a hat?
Hell yeah. And Kev should have one too. They're, they're swaggy. They're actually really cool.
Yeah, I'm gonna miss Paula, if you, I don't know if you listen to every episode, but.
Oh, she does.
I would be, I would be, I would be into that.
Yeah.
You know, a little back home.
A little country store hat.
If anyone is going to rent back home, it's your boy, you know.
Dude, a thousand percent.
What's name?
What else we got?
What if we got, player?
West, if you want to intro,
let's into this hard rock, that segment.
They want us to do a parlay for the USA game tomorrow.
Oh.
It is.
I typically like shit on like this,
on like this window in sports
because it's like regular season baseball
and I usually am like
the NBA finals typically
bore me
not not this year
but like right now we have
think of baseball
NBA finals Stanley Cup finals
and like I have like a lot of North Carolina
friends so they're all like Keynes fans
and then the fucking World Cup starts tonight
dude I'm excited for the World Cup
truly yeah I think it's gonna be sick
I love it no it's gonna be cool
I wish, I mean, I won't spend too much time on this, but like the best thing I've seen on social media this week is all these accounts from like people from other countries are like visiting rural parts of America.
And they're like, it's like their first time at Waffle House, their first time at Buckees, their first time at an SEC football stadium.
And they're all talking about it like positively.
Like it's it's very like positive content.
I love it.
And it's just watching Europeans like road trips.
through like the fucking south and it's it's so fun i like this one girl actually the main one it's
a swedish girl it's very cute swedish girl she fucking landed in indianapolis and she she posted
all this shit about how much she loves indiana really i'll yes i'll send i'll send you her
need that the big eye yeah big eye she loves a big eye um but i think that's the beauty of the
world cup and it's very cool that we get to host and like obviously our continent
gets to be a part of like something this cool.
So we're building a same game parlay against our game against Paraguay.
What's today? Thursday? So it's tomorrow night.
They want what? And anytime goal score? I mean, you take the USA money line, obviously,
which is going to be, I mean, that's fine odds.
I think they're going to be sick. I wish I had time to go to one of the games.
So I think Kristen,
Polisic, the leading goal score, him in USA is plus 250 if you want to shape that.
I don't want to go just Policicic.
That's what everyone at home wants to do.
Give me like Weston McKinney or
Oh, name dropping, okay.
Oh, God, he's not even.
There is.
Oh, we love a Weston.
We love a Weston there.
That's what I'm saying.
Wait, let me see these fucking odds.
Go to the top.
Dude, you know what?
Fuck it.
Give me Weston McKin.
I don't care.
On a corner, on a corner kick, on a corner kick.
Look at those odds.
USA Moneyline Weston McKinney anytime goal score.
Fuck with me.
Let's see, where they playing?
Let's see.
They are in.
It's in L.A.
They play it SOFI, which is like, bizarre.
Because they can't play on turf, right?
I don't think so.
They would never play World Cup soccer on turf.
Hey, as you say that, get there early.
I hear in LA, you know, if you're out of town and you're a tourist, traffic is going to be your worst nightmare times 10.
So bring some snacks, bring some drinks, get there early.
Uh, fun one, quick one. Good shit. Um, I, yeah, I, here we are, you know, just living our lives.
We're doing our best. It's all we can ask for. Cheers to that. Cheers. Cheers. What is it? What's in the cup today, so.
Little coffee.
Little ice coffee without the ice.
My ice machines broke.
Oh, let's get Sophie some ice.
