And give you the truth about the U.S. national team from inside the program. Whether you're a lifelong fan or this is your first World Cup.
Starting point is 00:01:01 We've got you covered. Listen, Inside American Soccer with Tom Boger, Tabramos on the iHeart radio app. Apple Podcasts wherever you get your podcast. It's that time to put on your jersey and wave your flag, whoever you root for. Why do I watch the Walk Up? That's like asking me, why do I breed?
Starting point is 00:01:22 And it's beautiful. The guys are young and cute and fit. It's not just a game. It's your culture. I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavez. and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots.
Starting point is 00:01:42 Listen to American Football on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Joy is essential and it's also elusive, but now there's a new and exciting way to start your journey toward a more joyful existence. Joy 101. It's a new podcast hosted by me, Hoda Kotby. If you're craving inspiration to maximize your joy, tune into these candid, uplifting, and moving on-air chats. Open your free IHeart Radio app. Search Joy 101 and listen now.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Joy 101 with Hoda Kotbe is presented by CVS. A lot of these rookies, it was their debut. And so, like, get the nerves out of the way. You get to kind of see them, like, shine and see play compare. And so I think that's the most exciting part is, like, one, not playing against yourself or the practice. guys and two, seeing like your teammate streams come true for the first time. Oh, so, that's a nice little blue circle in your new apartment. What is that?
Starting point is 00:03:05 It is a blue circle, just how you see it was. Sick. I love that. Show Me Something podcast, episode 38. Head's up, Sophie's Mike, still broken. But I feel, should I just like leave it here just for the shits and gigs of it or like. Yeah, it looks good on camera. I mean, this is our first pod since you've gotten to play real minutes. Yeah. How's the freaking, how's the freaking need? So good.
Starting point is 00:03:33 Truly. Well, I don't want to say that because every time I say I feel good, something bad happens. So I'd like to say I feel very mild. I'm very mild, which is great. No, it says we were in New York. And it was just fun. I went out and got dinner with some of my SI girls, and that was fun. And then the next day, we had a game and honestly played good.
Starting point is 00:03:56 Like, just felt calm when it was shooting the ball. But I only played, like, I think, like, 10, 12 minutes because it's, like, preseason because you have so many people in the bench. So that's, like, really. You put up 13 and 12? I think, I feel like maybe I played 13 minutes. I don't know. Like 10 to 13 minutes.
Starting point is 00:04:14 I don't know. That's 13 in that amount of time is like pretty saucy. Thanks. I feel good. But truly like I it's good. Our team is like fast and we're going to be we're going to be a lot better than I think a lot of people are thinking. What's your like what's your stance on preseason? Like do you like to play games that don't matter? Like do you like seeing the bench get to play a lot? Like how do you where some people hate preseason some people love it? I think. It's fun because during training camp, you're just like so used to like just going against your team the whole time. And so it's nice to finally go another team to kind of see, okay, we're real good here, but we need to be better here. Or like just see where you kind of stack up.
Starting point is 00:04:59 And New York is, I mean, they've been in like the championship. They've won. Like that was a good team to like and we beat them, which is, I know it's preseason, but still makes you feel good. And then, you know, I do like it because then you could just see the people like a lot of these rookies, it was their first debut. And so, look, get the nerves out of the way. You get to kind of see them, like, shine and see how they compare.
Starting point is 00:05:21 And so I think that's the most exciting part is, like, one, not playing against yourself or the practice guys. And two, seeing, like, your teenage dreams come true for the first time. So I think that's super cool. That's precious. Do you remember your first preseason game where you were who you played? Yeah, I think we played Seattle and then hit a buzzer beater. Into the game, buzzer beater? To win it.
Starting point is 00:05:44 Your first debut game? But it was preseason, so it didn't count. Yeah, but that's still sick. Yeah, it was fun. Oh, you definitely remember. Whoa. I love our rookies, too. Our rookies are awesome.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Run us through the rookie girls. Okay, so, you know, Raven Johnson. She was the highest draft. She was, she's going to be great. Great defensive player. Just a very fun, bubbly personality. Like, truly love her. She's awesome.
Starting point is 00:06:10 J.T., she's from Alabama. She is strong. Strong can shoot it. She's the score. really good, get to her spots. Pretty like seamlessly fit right into the W, which was really nice to see. KT,
Starting point is 00:06:22 when she was drafted a couple years ago by Chicago, I'm pretty sure. She's been overseas, but she's a great lefty, a quick little point guard, shifting ball, a good defensive player. In the same way that baseball values lefties
Starting point is 00:06:36 as pitchers and spatters, does a point guard like fuck up a defense if they can just, if they like always go left or anything? I guess you want to be ambidextreous. You do, but I will say, like, Kelsey Mitchell, who could be the MVP this year, who knows, she's just, right? Like, all of our plays are runs so she can get to her strong hand. For Asia Wilson, all the plays are for her left hand.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Like, yes, they know how to go right, but, like, you try to set up your teammates to be the most successful, so make sense. You have JP, she's from Bandy. She is a stretch-forward and shoot the shit out of it. Really good there. You have Meg McConnell. So this is kind of a good little story. So Meg McConnell, she's a point guard, scrappy, scrappy little shit. Love her, can shoot it, pass the ball, just a good point guard.
Starting point is 00:07:20 But her brother, T.J. is on the Pacers. Oh, oh, fun. Yeah. I'm sure, like, their mom and dad are so thrilled there together for a little bit. So I think that's kind of, like, all the rookies. Maybe a lot of people don't think about this, but that's your first time getting to put on the, like, real uniforms and kind of, like, get swaggy. No. Dude, I'm hating my swag this year, though. How, don't,
Starting point is 00:07:47 you can't hate your own swag. Because I wear long sleeves. Because you had elbow, you had elbow issues before. Well, yeah, now I'm wearing a compression sleeve on my leg and I think I have to take it off because then I have one leg free. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, I Can you go Yeah, you can't go long sleeves with
Starting point is 00:08:06 with a leg sleeve. No. Can you just let your arms go bare arms for a little? And I'm Like a headband? I think you'd look sick. Like a thick, kind of like a thick, thick white headband. Not like thick this way, but kind of tall.
Starting point is 00:08:20 No. Yeah, that would be, I think that would be fresh. Absolutely not. With the leg sleeve on? You! Yeah. And there are some tattoos right here? What's, I'm not, I'm not having an identity crisis.
Starting point is 00:08:34 I just don't have my flag. So we're going to. Well, let's figure that out before first game. I have until May 9th. But we played Dallas on Tuesday, and we play Nigeria on Sunday. Yeah. So then is that their national, that's their national team? Say there's Nigerian girls in the W.
Starting point is 00:08:55 Are they playing for this national team? No, right? I didn't think so. Any weird games, like how you guys played at Iowa last year? Any gimmicky, like, goofy games you're playing? So, no, I think we were supposed to. But because of our CBA, it got canceled. I do think that that is going to become a thing though
Starting point is 00:09:18 like you'll see people go into Iowa you'll see people going to I feel like Montana State dude yeah bring on back to Missouri that would be so awesome quick up a little interruption
Starting point is 00:09:33 I introduced Sophie to the Montana State Athletic Director Leon Costello and it was a very special treat so one day we're going to get Sophie up there Sorry, I don't know why I'm eating a chocolate strawberry. It's okay. Oh, you remind me I got to eat dinner. I just got a massage. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:53 I showed a line here. Male or male or female? Female. Her name's Karen. She's the freaking best. Me best. Okay. But I don't know why I was creating a chocolate strawberry after my massage.
Starting point is 00:10:07 That sounds like a horny day. Wait, okay. You guys play the wings? and back at the crib. GameBridge, baby. You think people are going to turn up for the... Yeah. Anything special? They're going to turn the lights out?
Starting point is 00:10:21 I don't know. It's always fun. I don't know. I feel like all of our games back at a home or here are special. So, like, even Prince's and games, still, like, real games. So, I don't know. I'm excited. Our fans are the freaking best one.
Starting point is 00:10:34 I'm telling you, like, you're just so damn cool. I'm just excited to be that. Do you have a first game tunnel fit ready? So preseason games, you really don't dress up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But our first game is on a, it's Maynone. I think it's against Dallas. I could be completely wrong.
Starting point is 00:10:55 But Morgan Wallen has a concert that night. So you know I'm going hot, sexy, country little little chicky. Are you, uh, are you missing the concert? No, I'm going right after the game. Wow. That's awesome. That's going to be a fun, fun. day, fun day. I have like Cooper and his wife coming up, Joe, and a couple other buddy's coming.
Starting point is 00:11:15 That's beautiful. On that note for fever games, the debut schedule came out and correct me if I'm wrong. Every fever game is fucking nationally televised. It is acting insane. It's pretty cool. Has that ever, there's no way that's happened before for every game. I think last year we had like 42. Okay, that's sick. Yeah. So that's good. Now I have no, I have no excuse for not being. done. Damn it. Absolutely dialed. I know.
Starting point is 00:11:44 Dude, you texted me during our preseason, during the one on Saturday. Like, hey, I'm going to come over and out. I don't know. Dude, I,
Starting point is 00:11:54 yeah, I just had it, I got to have people at my apartment now. I can't go anywhere. Honestly, I, it's,
Starting point is 00:12:00 I'm literally up here. No, I did, though, because I got the alert. I texted you and I was like, I'm having like a few people over want to come over.
Starting point is 00:12:06 And then I got the alert like three hours later that was like, fever win and I was like oh my god it's so fucking embarrassing I invited her over when she was playing I literally oh wow have you been seen like all the stagecoach stuff I'm not on the internet so stagecoach I think was a freaking hit this year I just still get like like it's in the same place as Coachella um no like it's literally the same zip code I think when where's coachill at Okay, let's see. Where? Oh, Coach, where is Coachella? It is hosted in California Desert around Palm Springs near Rancho Mirage. And then where's stagecoach? That's the location. Empire Polo Club right inside the Coachella Valley. I think it's funny because I think you're more Coachella and I'm definitely going more stagecoach. I am just, that's a fair take. I do, and I am not, I do not like yucking people's yums. I think everyone's. I think everyone, should vibe how they want to.
Starting point is 00:13:10 But I never, ever have Coachella envy. I'm like, I don't want to dress up that much to like walk that far and like be dirty and like probably not even see be that close to the artist. I don't know. I'm surprised for that. I thought you'd definitely be like a Coachella vibe. No, I've never been and I don't like feel like I... Did you go?
Starting point is 00:13:31 I would like, maybe I'd go. It just is like, I don't know. I'm just not a concert. Like, die hard. I will say that Bieber stuff looked cool. Like him just being like, yeah. That was cool. See, I love a good concert, but I would rather a concert like an outdoor concert.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Like, I'm out on so much of an inside concert person. But then again, if it was art artists, I totally would be. I would just prefer like, you know, a good little summer country concert outside. Woo! Like an addicted in my veins. All right. I'm just going to say it. I've been glued to my J-Lab headphones lately.
Starting point is 00:14:07 flights, workouts, quick coffee runs, they've basically been on me 24-7. In the wild part, the batter just keeps going. I honestly don't remember the last time I charged mine. It's been that wrong. The sound holds up too, super clean, gets loud when you want it to, and doesn't get all distorted on you. I've been rocking the over-ear pair on flights, and it's a total upgrade. Noise cancelling is clutch.
Starting point is 00:14:26 They're comfortable the entire time. Whether I'm in the gym, on a plane, or just walking around with music, they've got something that fits whatever vibe on the line. We've got headphones, earbuds, wireless speakers, and more. You get premium features without paying premium prices. Look for the blue box at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and more use code. Something on J-Lab for 20% off your order. So, I've got to ask about it.
Starting point is 00:14:51 I heard the leak. How's it been leaked? Dude, I don't fucking know. Well, for one, like there were rumors, again, not on the internet, but everyone was like, West did it and he, like, was going to sell it. There were rumors that I, like, I leaked it to sell it to complex or something, like, preposterous. Obviously not. Like, I don't think anyone on stage could ever do it.
Starting point is 00:15:16 It's got to be someone where, yeah, like where audio is. But they found the person. I don't know who it is. Really? Yeah. I'm going to ask eventually. Plan ahead for an unforgettable FIFA World Cup 2026 experience. Whether you're heading to a match.
Starting point is 00:15:33 Visiting FIFA Van Festival Viz. or joining the celebration across the city. You'll find everything you need to make the most of your experience, including match day essentials, travel tips, what to expect, and ways to explore Vancouver and BC. Visit Vancouver FWC26.ca slash know before you go. American soccer is exploded. The knockout rounds are here.
Starting point is 00:16:03 The U.S. won their group, and now every match is winner go home. I'm Tav Ramos. And I'm Tom Bow. On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, we'll talk about the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about Balagan. I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. And give you the truth about the U.S. national team from inside the program. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals.
Starting point is 00:16:39 Whether you're a lifelong fan or this is your first World Cup. We've got you covered. Listen, inside American soccer with Tom Bogart and Tavaamos and the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. I love the sounds, the buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place soccer, football at home. Why do I watch the World Cup? That's like asking me, why do I breed?
Starting point is 00:17:13 I inherited that fandom from my mom. I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots. We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great. A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture. I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull. It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though.
Starting point is 00:17:46 Are they the only ones that don't like that? Nobody likes that. As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American Football as part of the My Coutura Podcast Network, available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. But it could be, like, I'm pretty sure people are, like, freelanced in to help with audio and stuff.
Starting point is 00:18:12 But I don't think that's ever happened before. Can I just tell you? I forgot what day got leaked. I had so many texts. Oh, morning. Okay, so many tests are like about about it. And I was like, dude, I have, do I don't know like, I don't, I don't, I don't know. How, how, how.
Starting point is 00:18:31 I want to know fucking everything. Yeah. I mean, I like obviously can't talk that much about it. But those are just, that's a long, long day. For anybody or like really just? Yeah, for everyone. Like, it's a long day always. Obviously, this one, a little less fun.
Starting point is 00:18:51 than normal. But yeah, the leak I don't really know how it affects I don't know it's just like it's just such a compromise of like the integrity
Starting point is 00:19:03 like Bravo has Bravo so buttoned up with everything that I'm sure they're just fucking so pissed but obviously because of Bravo because we're not allowed
Starting point is 00:19:14 to talk about certain things that we both want to talk about because but I'm surprised it got out but honestly if anything maybe it's good because people are like
Starting point is 00:19:23 like there's real shit that's going to be talked about so I think it's maybe a good kind of tease like I'm trying to be positive here like yeah could be a good tease depends who you ask again I can't like I'm not allowed to say honestly anything but
Starting point is 00:19:42 are things kind of trailing in the right direction I just think I hope I mean that's what matters to me the most is like these are my friends friends, you know, and I've caused a lot of damage, which fucking sucks. So it's going to take time for sure, but time helps. And we are doing the reunion was one step, you know, and got through it. And so we're on the other side of it.
Starting point is 00:20:11 And you just got to take it one day and time. Bonobos, though, shout up. Bonobos came through. It's like a blue with like a little, there's like a tad bit of like plaid undertone. I mean, honestly, reunions aren't fun, but you do, it's like the darkest form of therapy where you have to, like you don't normally get that much feedback on how your actions impact other people. Obviously, there's like a shock to your system from it. I'm not trying to be cliche, but the only thing I can do from this is learn and try to be better. Honestly, that's okay.
Starting point is 00:20:49 Like, you are human. And I think people, it's just a good way to look yourself in the mirror. Maybe how your actions impact others and have maybe next. Can be a little bit more aware of fear. But also, it's a good time to reflect of like the things you do well, the way you make people feel in a good way too. So it's like good, positive. And I don't want to say negative, but it's just like things to grow and mature and get better on. And everyone can do that.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Yeah. Literally able to do that. Yeah. Totally. Well, also, the only way you can make experiences like this worth it as dark as it gets is to be better from it later. And like, obviously, I have a lot to learn from and be better for. It's absolutely the only way you can make any of this, turn it positive, you know. It's growth.
Starting point is 00:21:39 It's great. Yeah, it's growth. It'll take a sec, but we'll get there, you know. And you know what? while we're talking about growth. Right. Oh, my. I know my fucking nudes leaked, okay?
Starting point is 00:21:54 But guess what? It's like the sixth worry of mine right now. I have a lot of shit going on. And like, I'm going to own it. It's happened to friends of mine. And they're not even sexual. Like, they look medical. I'm softened all of them.
Starting point is 00:22:09 I don't even know if the other two are me. But in my old apartment, so it's like, I don't know how old it is, but it's from my old apartment. I had a sauna by my bathroom. And I would always get out of the sauna and like double check or like check progress. You know who had it? Like who leaked them?
Starting point is 00:22:29 Well, so I woke up. Also, I know I'm like laughing because if I don't laugh, I'll fucking cry about all of this. So like don't leak people's nudes or like hack people's shit. It's like not fun. I'm not telling you. I'm just a PSI. I woke up that same morning and my Instagram was hacked and my Facebook was hacked and I don't know how that happened. What else can I do?
Starting point is 00:22:57 Yeah. Manscaped partnership down the road, hopefully. How did you, it didn't you don't have social tape? How did you find out? Did your mom? Scott, no, Scott Hill texted me five seconds before I walked on stage the reunion. And I was like, mother fucker. When it rains, it storms, but.
Starting point is 00:23:23 Yeah. I know that I've had the worst day of my life already, which is good to know. Yeah. That's behind me. Yeah. So, you know what? This is, or what, this is a. Also, if you see it, report it, guys.
Starting point is 00:23:37 Press report. Don't send them. Dude, you need to hire someone like, I know. Fucking agent to delete all that shit. But. I'm going to, like, let it live. because you know what. Hey, this is going to be
Starting point is 00:23:48 what can I do. This is going to be the year of growth for you. Seriously. No, I know I'm soft in all the big years. Hey. Hey, I told, we were, I was talking about it at dinner.
Starting point is 00:24:02 Like, every. Thanks. Yeah. Hey, we can just stay with relationships and that type of stuff. There are so many people that are going through some shit right now. Lay and Meg?
Starting point is 00:24:15 Oh, my. Yeah. Oh, yeah, Clay and Meg. I've, so he, she said he cheated on her, but then he posted a video being like, she cheated on me. Yeah. So he went on live saying that he had been cheating. He cheated maybe with someone from Adobe is what I heard,
Starting point is 00:24:32 but my main concern is like the boat name because he named his boat after, like after her, the Meg. So like he's going to have to get that to train it. Oh, I didn't know that. Also, yeah. I'm probably not the person people, want to like hear talk about all this shit right now but it is happening i did see a thing today and it was like his roster or whatever and they were calling him like the derrick jeter of the
Starting point is 00:24:56 the the NBA i don't know anyone else he's dated though i don't know like his roster of whoever he's dated i have i actually don't know who he's dated we'll see what happens i i i bet meg will come out with an album that's absolutely boncala boncala he some Some distrax. He spent like 4 million on her. He's like, I'll never do that again. Kevin, that's the exact fucking graphic I fucking saw. I don't think it looks AI.
Starting point is 00:25:29 I don't think these are real people. They all have to be going to the same injectors. They all have the same cheeks and eyebrows. All stunning. I don't know if that's, if those are real people. They don't really look. I mean, they're all very beautiful. besides Meg.
Starting point is 00:25:48 I will say is the lead researcher on the show. I do not fact-checked anything. So just everyone at home should be very, very, very aware. And then the Patriots coach, too. There's Twitter saying he might have to. I haven't heard about this. This first happened, first made the news, Rabel and Rossini, a photo leaked of them kind of holding hands,
Starting point is 00:26:07 very like cold play concert-esque of that couple that leaked. So this photo, this is very recent, spurred a bunch of other people coming out with photos. In 2020, 2020, 24 of them two together. Well, of them. Of them. They're both married, not to each other. So very scandalous.
Starting point is 00:26:25 Diana originally told her company, the athletic, who she writes for, that it was just like a hangout. It was just like a hang. A lot of people there. So the athletic backed her, supported her. And then it was like, cool, just show us the pictures of all the homies hanging out. And she's like, I don't got them. Then she resigned. And then the NFL started to look into this.
Starting point is 00:26:43 But the NFL is like, Braybill technically didn't break. any NFL rule, so they're chilling. But obviously, the Patriots had an insanely great year, and now they got to deal with this? Like, I don't know. Is that like an issue? What do you guys think? Wait, show me the, do you have the pictures? Get me full up? That's crazy. That's...
Starting point is 00:27:00 Yeah, shit. Well, she's a reporter, and so, like, she's... Like, the internet's doing what they do, and they're finding, like, all the weekends. She, like, cover the Titans and, like, all this shit. Wait, what? Also, the newest leak is,
Starting point is 00:27:16 that a few seasons ago, the Titans were on a four-game losing streak, and Diane Rossini... Are you talking about the playlist? She made a playlist called, like, Tough Times will move on. And she sent it to a guy named Mike, so it's like so many smoking guns out there. What? That is so weird. Okay. What else is going on, Ted?
Starting point is 00:27:33 Tell us more news. This one is kind of crazy, but the most fun one, in my opinion, I can't wait to show you this graphic. Fun is insane. Fun is it? So essentially, Jalen Deren, when... Kendall Carter Jr. They're facing each other in the playoffs right now, Magic and Pistons. Wendell Carter Jr. is dating Angel, is dating Angel Reese, who is Jalen Duren's ex. So now
Starting point is 00:27:58 these two dudes are playing each other. They're guarding each other. And Jalen Duren average in the regular season. He's going to make the all-N-B-A team. He's an all-star. He's averaging 10 and 8 now. He's matched up against Angel Reese's current boyfriend. He's the ex. So that kind of weird dynamic there is like absolutely crushing his game on a mental level. level and it's like is it is it real like has he come out and said something that that's why so there's like you know jayland daren and angel were like dating on the low but like you know snap and instagram you can tell they're in the same location that was a few months ago now she's very publicly dating wendell carter junior and every time jail and drink gets dunked on angel rick is putting it on her story so she's
Starting point is 00:28:36 like really going going after him here which is kind of crazy too because like if you're wendell be like you could like move off that now you know i wonder if something had to have happened for her like he like I don't know once he like embarrass him in some way or nothing happened but then move with then move on worry about your current boyfriend it's just funny he's just getting absolutely
Starting point is 00:28:58 dominated right now and this is like all NBA Twitter could talk about because this guy is like an all NBA player who just got like the monster who took his powers and now he's averaging 10 and 8 and he's like a 20 and 10 guys so that sucks he's in his head he's in his head I want to see
Starting point is 00:29:15 he got to get out of look similar at all. Big muscles. Are that, they're both big men? Yeah, they're both bigs. My wife thinks Wendell Jr. is hotter.
Starting point is 00:29:26 I think Jalen Droid might be hotter, but that's also. Fair. Fair. All right, quick one. There's a new season of Running Point dropping on Netflix, April 23rd.
Starting point is 00:29:36 It's from Mindy Kaling and stars Kate Hudson. It basically is a basketball comedy with an entirely stacked cast. In this season, Ila Gordon, she's not the surprise pick anymore. Now she's the person everyone's watching. The team's finally bouncing back after all the drama last year,
Starting point is 00:29:50 and she's trying to prove she actually deserves the job. Meanwhile, her brother is low-key working behind the scenes trying to take that job back. So it's not just basketball. It's politics, pressure, family drama, all of it. And she's got to deal with the board, the expectations, the spotlight, basically rewrite the whole game plan if she wants to stay on top.
Starting point is 00:30:07 Season two definitely turns everything up. More stakes, more chaos, more comedy. Honestly, this kind of feels like our role a little bit. Like pressure, egos, people doubting you, trying to prove you to be long. Yeah, that part, and it's at home. But even if you're not deep into sports, it's still super fun.
Starting point is 00:30:21 It's funny, a little messy, and very... You've got ambition, family drama, people skinny behind the scenes. It's got really everything. And yeah, Kate Hudson running a basketball team. Go check out Running Point Season 2, only on Netflix, April 23rd. Plan ahead for an unforgettable FIFA World Cup
Starting point is 00:30:38 2026 experience. Whether you're heading to a match, visiting FIFA Van Festival, Vancouver, or joining the celebration, the city, you'll find everything you need to make the most of your experience, including match day essentials, travel tips, what to expect, and ways to explore Vancouver and BC. Visit Vancouver FWC26.ca slash know before you go. American soccer is exploding.
Starting point is 00:31:09 The knockout rounds are here. The U.S. won their group, and now every match is winner go home. I'm Tad Ramos. And I'm Tom Boger. On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, we'll talk about the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about Balagan. I'm not worried about McKinney.
Starting point is 00:31:32 My only concern is what happens in the back. And give you the truth about the U.S. national team from inside the program. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. Whether you're a lifelong fan or this is your first World Cup. We've got you covered. Listen, inside American soccer with Tom Bogart and Tabramos and the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. I love the sounds, the buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans,
Starting point is 00:32:10 the announcers calling the place soccer, football at home. Why do I watch the World Cup? That's like asking me, why do I breed? I inherited that fandom from my mom. I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots. We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great.
Starting point is 00:32:42 A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture. I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull. It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though. Are they the only ones that don't like that? Nobody likes that. As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American Football as part of the My Coutura Podcast Network, available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Wait, Kev, did you announce that Beast Infection Kickball's 3-0? I did not. Post-game presser, Beast Infection 3-0, you came back from an ankle injury, a lot of off-court spectacles. West, how are you able to lock in it and lead your team to victory? So I was I didn't go this past Thursday But they
Starting point is 00:33:34 They got the dub So the team's three and oh I think I'll be there this Thursday But I did I sprained my ankle back Didn't I put my ankle on in on camera last? We did break type shit thing on Um
Starting point is 00:33:47 No and then it moved to my toes The other day It was like a real sprain Wait look so this was two or three days ago If I can get it to wait Uh Can you see the color? You should probably chill out.
Starting point is 00:34:00 You have free nudes now, free feet fix. Wait, yeah, there it is. So it drained into my feet and my toes, and it was like really bruised really bad. But yesterday, Kev, braced up, went to the gym. We did a seven mile per hour jog for a little bit. And then we did a little, then we did some lateral movement. Because I'm wearing a brace, like, I'll be fine. I just need to wear cleats, I think, this Thursday and keep the brace on.
Starting point is 00:34:25 And I should be okay. But it's like, it feels good to just honestly have, again, Sophie, I don't play sports anymore besides this. So like, I'm rehabbing. I'm, I'm questionable. Now I'm probable. Yeah, there you go. There you go. And I'm, and I got to wear the brace and then like kind of not, not trust it for the first inning. Kind of feel good. Second inning. And then just third, fourth, fifth, just fly around. Ooh, so you have to kick the ball with it. Yeah, but I mean, it should be okay Maybe it helps, honestly
Starting point is 00:35:00 It's more, the hardest part is rounding the bases Because it's turf like this dick And you just, you know It just feels good to have like an injury To work on and like see progress How good is that as an athlete? Injury progress That it how it feels so good to have an injury
Starting point is 00:35:20 So you can see progress Yeah, right now for me and watch like your tomato plant progress in the stuff. Like you don't mean an injury to be doing that. I got a kickball championship to win. You will. You will win. Wow.
Starting point is 00:35:37 So that's good. Yeah. So I don't know who we play Thursday, but should be smooth. Good. Is that our only updates? I actually have a few more for you here. This one's pretty fun. So in a month in Las Vegas,
Starting point is 00:35:53 they're hosting the first ever enhanced games. These are all athletes on steroids. They're calling it fully unleashed, powered by science, pursuing their full human potential. The game is one night. It's all natural versus unnatural for a $25 million cash prize. One game.
Starting point is 00:36:11 Swimming, track, and weightlifting, which I think are like events that might, you know, favor steroid people because they're not like skill-related activities, you know, just like swim and lift and run. but your guys' thoughts on people competing totally juiced up. I haven't been. It sounds interesting, honestly. Same how, like, some people are, like, bring back, like, let people do steroids in baseball
Starting point is 00:36:34 because these are just fucking hitting nukes. I would be interested to see if, here's what the, like, thesis probably is. Is, like, are steroids, like, clearly that much better for athletic performance? Like if everyone on steroids When swimming, sprinting, weightlifting, then it's just like, yeah, it's dangerous, I guess, but it objectively works. And maybe that's not going to question.
Starting point is 00:37:01 I, here's my argument to that. I think that is completely valid. My only thing is like, you take people who are, just say you take a normal human and they do that, then like maybe that will enhance how they perform. but when you already have like the most elite elite of athletes
Starting point is 00:37:23 and then someone of the elite athletes they do it, I think that matters. But I am very fascinated on how this is going to go. All right, guys, I've got another headline for you here. Tops trading cards recently sold a card on eBay, a Helen Keller autograph card. Not worth it's possible. $500.
Starting point is 00:37:40 It's authenticated. It's sold. Guys, is that higher or lower than you? Who, how do you authenticate that? Exactly. And how do we know? Is there Braille? Do you want to see a picture?
Starting point is 00:37:52 Yeah. Yeah. Dude, great point, Wes. Yeah. That's actually, it's actually kind of sick. Dude, do we believe that Helen Keller was blind and deaf? Whoa. I think you gotta.
Starting point is 00:38:03 It's not, that's not a hill to die on. The bigger question with Helen Keller to me is like, how do you even know what life is? Like, how do you know people are teaching you shit in the beginning? I don't believe it. Dude, whoa. 45 Hund. That feels reasonable. to me.
Starting point is 00:38:20 No. Guys, where do you, where do you post this in your bedroom? Is this like in your dining room? Where are you showcased it? I mean, if she signed that, that's cool to have a thing she signed.
Starting point is 00:38:29 If she signed it and that, that price is low. Yeah, but it's authenticated means it's real. I get that, but I'm saying. Which I don't know how they do that. That's what I'm saying. Like, everyone around the world
Starting point is 00:38:41 knows Helen Keller because she's like the only person ever be blind and deaf and knows how to spell, read, write, do everything. Well, I think the first You're not the only one Or maybe it's the only one
Starting point is 00:38:53 I'm not the first one to be blind and deaf I'm saying to be blind and deaf And still Like do everything How is that possible? I know that's why this car This car is worth almost five fees If it's real
Starting point is 00:39:05 That should be like $4.5 million There you go That's the fucking over under For Sophie 4.5 million bitch Well no actually a museum
Starting point is 00:39:15 A museum A museum would pay so much for that This is solid. This is solid resell value. The blind and deaf museum or whatever. All right. Last one here for you guys. Headlines here.
Starting point is 00:39:25 And the devil wears Prada two premier. Stanley Tucci, noted man of taste, says no more sweats in the wild. He's done with athlete leisure. He says only at the gym. Strong take. How do you guys feel about that? Look what I'm wearing. I, but.
Starting point is 00:39:48 What are you? I believe in. never being like the one who's underdressed at an event or like something of value or substance. Like you should not and you never want to be underdress. I think it's the worst look ever. But like, dude, I don't, I'm not putting on fucking jeans to go get a coffee or like, you know, I just say or here's a better question is people talk about airports. People are, some people are like, you have to dress up at the airport. other people like I would never dress up in the airport.
Starting point is 00:40:24 No. I mean I yeah I don't. No. But people do. Can I say one thing? I was okay, I know anytime people make fun of like a white dude goes to Japan and all they talk about is Japan,
Starting point is 00:40:38 but every single adult male on public transportation in Japan had on a fucking perfectly tailored, crispy suit where his shirt was like a perfect three quarter inch away from his suit sleeves and like nice watch and cool glasses. And I was like, all of you are so buttoned up and like looks so good. And the fact that it's like 99% of the population in Japan I found to be astounding. I remember sitting on the bullet train and the guy next to me just random guy, just sitting by me. And I was like, everything about what you're wearing is text.
Starting point is 00:41:20 It is a crazy place for fashion. I like that. Yeah, and he was just going from Tokyo to Osaka. Perfect suit. I like that. Thanks, Kev. All right, quick time out. Today's show is brought to you by our presenting sponsor Hard Rock Bet,
Starting point is 00:41:36 the official sports book partner of the Orlando Magic. And speaking of the magic, they're back in the playoffs, which means everything just leveled up. The lights are brighter, the pressure is real, and every possession actually matters. And that's where Hard Rock Bet makes it fun. Every night you've got a chance to build something. I've been messing around with the same game parley.
Starting point is 00:41:51 Like maybe your guy goes for 30, your big man grabs a double double, point guard dishes out five assists, stack it all up and let it ride. And if you're late to tip off, relax. You're still good. You can live bet the entire game from the first bucket to the final buzzer. So if you see something heating up, you can jump in right then. If you haven't tried it yet, this is a good time to get started. You can score 150 in bonus bets if you win.
Starting point is 00:42:10 Just drop a $5 bet, and if it hits, you get your winnings plus an extra $150 in bonus bets. And that's just the beginning. Hard Rock bets dropping new promos every single day. honestly just open the app and see what's live. And yeah, it's Florida's only legal sports book, but you don't even have to be in Florida. It's also live in Arizona, Ohio, New Jersey, Indiana, Tennessee, Virginia, Illinois, Colorado, and Michigan with more states coming soon.
Starting point is 00:42:31 So go ahead, download the Hard Rock Bet app today, and let's get the party started. While we're here, this segment is brought to you by Hard Rock Bet. And I'm going to choose a Chief's future here that I think probably the, I don't know, best value most likely to hit. I'm just going to give some insight. We have Chiefs to reach the playoffs, minus 230 to win the AFC West plus 165. That feels, that's what people do. They hate on the Chiefs until they are finally down and now people are back in
Starting point is 00:43:01 because they know it's not going to happen two years in a row. Mahomes to win MVP plus 1,100. Andy Reid to win coach of the year plus 5,000. Peter Woods' defensive rookie of the year plus 5,000. The late first round draft pick out of Clemson. Can I just ask, what other awards are there? I feel like in the city out of all. no these are
Starting point is 00:43:19 these are like hypothetical so it's what you it's like what yeah like people could bet on them now oh okay this isn't on here I would like to know Patrick Mahomes comeback player of the year
Starting point is 00:43:35 he tours ACL like week 12 13 14 I think it was like 12 or 13 I don't know if that if that puts him in the bucket to be comeback player of the year, but that would be, I would like to see those odds.
Starting point is 00:43:52 Maybe I can come back to the year too. Ooh, like that, so. Dude, yeah. Let's do, Andy Reid has done amazing things, but he's already notoriously a great coach. They're never going to give him coach of the year unless, like as long as Patrick Mahomes is Andy Reed's quarterback, they're never going to give him coach of the year.
Starting point is 00:44:10 I wouldn't even touch that. A defensive tackle to win rookie of the year, I don't see that being possible either. I think you go back to the Chiefs winning the AFC West again at plus 165. You get plus value here. And again, the Chiefs had won it. I forget the fucking number. But it was like 10 years in a row before last year.
Starting point is 00:44:34 I think full off season and then some given they were eliminated from the playoffs and Mahomes got injured and weren't in the playoffs. And a little kick in the ass last year to just kind of waky, wiki, eggs and bakey. I like them to win the AFC West just based on you got 15 and you got Andy Reid. I think they I think they get your God. Okay, can I ask a bet question for
Starting point is 00:44:55 people who know what any of this means? Okay. Because I'm a girl. No, no, yeah, let's do it. Break a deal. Negative 230 means. Okay, I got you here. So I was not a big, I mean, I'm, yeah, I didn't know anything about sports betting
Starting point is 00:45:12 when I started working for Bleacher Report and helped them launch BR betting. I had all of these questions in the very beginning. And it like, it's so simple, but so confusing at first. So the negative means what whatever you're putting in, you're going to get less money back because it's like something that will probably happen. So if I was going to, it like is likely. So they're not going to let you bet $100 and then get $500 back if the Chiefs make the playoffs. So that's them being like, if you bet $230,000, we'll give you $100 if it happens. Plus $5,000, you're going to get a shit ton of money back.
Starting point is 00:45:56 Yes, because the odds of that happening, very small. So once you get to plus, the plus is, it means whatever money you put in, you'll get more, but it's also probably like less likely to happen if that makes sense. So when everything's right around $100, that means. it's like, so like most games, they'll give you a spread. The odds are going to be close to 100 because it means they, it's, they recognize it's like pretty even, you know? So if it's a route, we'll talk more about that.
Starting point is 00:46:26 And if it's not near 100 whatsoever, then it's like crazy. Yeah. So like if they were like Patrick Mahomes to complete a pass next year, that would be like negative nine zillion. Oh, okay, okay, I totally get that. I totally get that. Me being the quarterback for the chiefs would be like plus a billion. You can complete a screen, a tunnel screen inside.
Starting point is 00:46:48 Wow. Okay. Yeah. That segment was brought to you by Hard Rock Bet. That was actually very informative. I like that. That was good. Episode 38.
