Every single day I'm still learning how to live with problems, mistakes, relationships, emotions, ever since I was born. This isn't a normal podcast. Everything here is a spontaneous,
Starting point is 00:02:07 and genuine, just honest conversations about what it means to be alive. I'm Javier Tchariot Hernandez and listen to Learning to Be Human on IHard Radio, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. The Mizzou fan who had the chance to win $25,000 on a field goal held up a shirt that said FKU turned around, kicked the ball at the Kansas bench. It didn't hit anyone. It was like a little line drive, blah, blah, blah, blah. And that is our friend Carter Airy from Columbia, Missouri.
Starting point is 00:02:47 Good, great work. Good morning, everyone. Show Me Something podcast. One of us has a little cold. I don't know if you can't tell who it is or not. What one is it? Oh, so. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Oh, God. I feel like your mom right now. I want to bring you some soup. Dude, you're kind of looking at my grandma. Oh. Like, watch this little coat or blanket over. I kind of like that. Oh, I actually ordered soup last night before bed.
Starting point is 00:03:31 I ordered a matzo ball soup and a French onion soup. Dude, that's my dinner. Amazing. I might have to go get it. Yeah. How bad do you miss your mom when you have a cold? Um, I feel like a lot, actually. But honestly, what I'm saying, I don't want to be like touched or mess with really.
Starting point is 00:03:49 Like, I'd be held and settled. But, like, it'd be nice to actually now someone make you some soup. I've also been taking colostrum to keep my immunity up for the last year. And it works. Looking to it. I think I need to. It's really good. What is that?
Starting point is 00:04:03 It's like the main nutrient you get from breast milk when you're a baby to keep you, like, alive. What? So it's in like powder form. It's good. Someone told me to do it once. And I was like, all right. But no breast is it coming from? I don't think it's coming directly from a breast.
Starting point is 00:04:21 breast, I believe it's just like the nutrients, like the main like important part of breast milk, which is colostrum, which is like just good for your body. So that in an emergency. I don't drink it away. I'm trying to. Maybe I just need some like tequila or Jack Daniels. You know what? To cheer you up, I'm going to start to show with this.
Starting point is 00:04:42 For those of you who don't know, our friend Sophie was just inducted. Oh, I guess you were inducted, but they announced that you will be part of the university. of Missouri Athletics Hall of Fame. What kind of applause? Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap. Fuck yes, Soph. Proud of you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:05:01 It's going to be a fun little thing. I hope I feel better. It's this weekend. So it's got to be a busy American weekend. I know. So fly there either Thursday night, Friday morning. There's a ceremony. All friends and family will be there.
Starting point is 00:05:14 And then the game Saturday. But you know how we get down when we tailgade? like we like to have a good time yeah um i think i had to leave like saturday or sunday to go to our first playoff game so it actually kind of worked out that i freaking broke my let because now i get to do that i'm not so is it just you is it like is the ceremony just for you or there are other inductees as well no i think there's six of us so um yeah it's going to be really fun it's going on the other ones um alice munland um um um um Mike Alden.
Starting point is 00:05:53 Oh, Mike Alden. Congrats. Mike, his son went to Rock Ridge School with me. Oh, really? I've known the Alden's, yes, since kindergarten. Oh, nice. So that's fun. I've known them forever.
Starting point is 00:06:05 So I'm kind of blanking. I'm in a rough. Yeah, you're good, you're good. Okay, but like on a more important note, kickball Thursday. It's start. This is week one. So I'm in the process. I got acupuncture tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:06:17 and I might try to get a massage. Also, before we go, my back, my back's been hurting really bad. So we got to, we have a title to, we have a title to reclaim. That is freaking, is everyone else like taking it as seriously as you? Like, are they, I mean, I set the tone, obviously. Like, people, like, I need to set the standard for, like, how much we care. But, yeah, I mean, after we won last year, like, everyone's, like, pretty, pretty dialed.
Starting point is 00:06:49 And like the backbone of our team is the girls. They do not want to lose. They do not want to lose. Would any of us know any of them? It's all New York. I'm trying to think if there's anyone. So no one is going to be on your squad. Not that I'm allowed to say, if that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:07:11 Oh, yes. It's not anything like that spicy. It's just like, Okay, well, you know what else is not spicy is our frigging chiefs losing in their first game. What the hell? Yeah. Did you watch?
Starting point is 00:07:26 Yeah, dude. I watched everything. I was pissed. Where did you watch? Whoops. Our game, our team was also playing. So I was in, it was deer. But we were winning.
Starting point is 00:07:41 We were playing Chicago. We were playing Chicago. Oh, my God. I think it's something John. you're okay we're playing chicago we were we were winning by like 20 so i was watching that but then i also had it on my phone so i was in this week so i wasn't like on the bench watching yeah not the best start for our chiefs but i mean they we we lost the first game
Starting point is 00:08:02 two years ago won the super bowl the season and the NFL season gets longer and longer like as the years go on they keep adding games and like it's a divisional game you don't want to lose those you don't want to be oh-in-one they also play the eagle this weekend. So you're kind of staring, you're staring O and two, like right between the eyes. But, I mean, okay,
Starting point is 00:08:26 your number one receiver for the day goes down, play three, and Travis just obliterated him. And, you know, it's in Brazil. It's weird. There's a lot of weird factors that aren't normally in there. We'll put it out.
Starting point is 00:08:41 Well, but the Chiefs usually can handle those games, I feel like, because they've played internationally so much. I feel like they have a lot of veterans, Andy Reed, like, an experienced coach who knows how to deal with all that. But, you know, maybe it's a little wake-up call, and that's always good. You ever feel like- I feel like we always peak when we're supposed to, too. Like, it's the beginning of season.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Everyone's like, oh, I told you. I'm like, it's first game. Shut up. You ever feel like you have benefit as a team from a loss? Well, yeah, of course. Like it like a wake-up call circles yeah literally it circles we need to get good at so I don't know yeah I would do my first Colts game on Sunday oh they they fucking rocked the shit didn't they well look at what the hell is is Miami so I'm new to like the Colts in the Miami teams is Miami that bad or the Colts looking pretty damn good good good question it might be a little bit of both Miami to me is all right to me is all right always like this is so like old head of me but I feel like warm weather teams are so fluky
Starting point is 00:09:52 and just like they're usually good in September and then kind of fall off when it gets colder but there's not a lot of backbone there in my opinion kind of a weird like modern young coach and just a lot of dudes who I don't know if they're like ball lovers I don't know but I mean good for Indianapolis. So talk to me about Lucas Oil Stadium. How is the game day experience? Like, what did you like? It was awesome. Like, it was the most beautiful, perfect day outside. The
Starting point is 00:10:24 windows were all open. They had the roof attracted, which I think every freaking stadium should have. It was so bad. I was, I was, I was, I was like, wow, this is beautiful. It is beautiful. But they were just playing really good. And I know that everyone was, like, kind of worried about a quarterback situation, I guess. I think
Starting point is 00:10:40 you didn't really well. You know what's actually funny, too. You go, have you been to the majority of NFL state? A handful. Well, I I think it was so fun saying like I know what the chiefs do, like our little things and stuff,
Starting point is 00:10:55 but it was fun getting to know what the Colts do. And like we were winning in like, they were doing all the celebrations and like all the songs and all that type of stuff. Do you, can you share with us what you learned? Oh, I'm trying. I mean, it's easy. They all do it like after they score a touchdown.
Starting point is 00:11:12 And it's like to the song. they say something on third down. I can't hit it. It was really country and Midwestern. I liked it. So, yeah. This feels very like kids camp. Kind of,
Starting point is 00:11:23 I think. You know, I feel like I was. For those listening and not watching, it's basically just you, we're locking our arms in front of us and just moving them, alternating them up and down.
Starting point is 00:11:36 So shout out the Coles for that one. It's real fun. And then one more NFL game that I'm going to talk about because. maybe I'm just being dumb. No. What was so historic between the Bills and Ravens game? I watched the whole thing and it was a freaking awesome game.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Don't get me wrong. But also. Actually, it's funny you say that. I think it was Teddy Bruske called it the Little Brother Bowl. Because he's like the Chief's own. Like the only thing Baltimore and Buffalo are known for is like losing to the Chiefs in the playoffs for the last few years. So he called the Little Brother Bowl, which I like that.
Starting point is 00:12:12 Shoot, I was not a one of know. also yeah no I don't want to talk I'm not here to talk shit on the bills in the Ravens week one I'm gonna wait damn I thought I got to get good good little cliff made out of you no they're good I before we move on from football
Starting point is 00:12:28 I also have to like I'm going to talk about Montana State for four seconds two overtones yeah brutal to South Dakota State who's a great team number two team in FCS but fucking gold rush is our first home game every year, Sophie. And it's like, it's just beautiful.
Starting point is 00:12:47 Montana State, Bozeman out in the mountains. Everyone's in yellow. It's like a crispy September night. And it's so fun. And to lose in double overtime sucks, but it's too a good team. And we just like can't seem to beat.
Starting point is 00:12:59 South Dakota State, they're fucking really good. But they'll be all right. They'll write to ship. We have a new QB who I love, just to off. He's a transfer from Stanford. And I wasn't really sure.
Starting point is 00:13:11 I wasn't really sure what, what he was going to look like if he was going to be any good. And I really like this kid. He's fucking took a lot of shots and can use his legs, use his arm. So I'm hoping things get a... Are you going to make it back to the whole game? I actually, I'm glad you asked. I'm speaking at the Athletics Scala this year.
Starting point is 00:13:33 What? Congrats, dude. That's cool. Thanks. Yeah, I'm excited. It's in October. And basically, like, I don't know, they have like a bank.
Starting point is 00:13:43 every fall and I'm there to talk to like I'm sure it's just all the rich you know donors and stuff and tell them why Montana State needs more money which they do could always use more but like wait so what did you do I think a lot of people think that you film every weekend and I say a lot of people and I'm are those people what does you do because this was your first weekend not film me good question Sophie guess what I did sleep stayed on my new living room couch for three days. Say less. It was gorgeous.
Starting point is 00:14:19 Friday after the Chiefs, if the Chiefs would have won, maybe I would have gone out, but I was kind of like, eh, so I went to bed, Saturday, legit woke up,
Starting point is 00:14:27 watched Game Day, watched the Mizzou game, watch the Royals for five seconds, then watch Montana State game. But then Sunday I ripped it. You did? Yeah, I tore it up.
Starting point is 00:14:37 Because the Chief aren't so I can go kind of like, just explore the city and hang out with everyone else while they watch their teams. And yeah, we were out to like three. Oh, no. Dude, that's what I'm saying. New York, you can like go out to watch the noon slate and then blink and you're,
Starting point is 00:14:56 you're coming home at four. Dude, we're literally living two different lives in the past couple weeks because you're out till three for fun things. And I'm up till three because I can't get my freaking knee to stop dropping. So I need to be living through you. But also it's nice to not have to drive to the, like, Hamptons. That's a, it's a bitch. Dude, how far is it?
Starting point is 00:15:18 Two hours? It should be, it should be like 1.45, but there's traffic. Like, getting out of New York City is just the worst thing you could ever do in your life. And it's, yeah, I mean, it's taking us, it's taken us three and a half sometimes, sometimes four. Oh, no, no. You end up how with weekend gold tickets to Lassau Montreal. Thomas Rett. Bumford and sons.
Starting point is 00:15:50 Here's my pride and here's my shame. John Party, Old Dominion, Carly Pierce, and more. And the prize gets even sweeter. With flights from Porter Airlines, three nights at Residence Inn downtown Montreal, and $1,000 cash. Download the free IHeart Radio app, listen to Pure Country for 10 minutes, and enter to win. Lassau, Montreal.
Starting point is 00:16:10 Every day you listen is another chance to win. American soccer is exploding. The knockout rounds are here. The U.S. won their group, and now every match is winner go home. I'm Tad Ramos. And I'm Tom Boger. On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, we'll talk about the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic.
Starting point is 00:16:39 I'm not worried about Balagan. I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. And give you the truth about the U.S. national team from inside the program. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. Whether you're a lifelong fan or this is your first World Cup. We've got you covered.
Starting point is 00:17:05 Listen, inside American soccer with Tom Bogart and Tab Ramos and the iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, wherever you get your podcast. I love the sounds, the buzzing from the stadium, the chanting from the fans, the announcers calling the place soccer, football. it's home. Why do I watch the World Cup? That's like asking me, why do I breed? I inherited that fandom for my mom.
Starting point is 00:17:33 I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots. We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great.
Starting point is 00:17:53 A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture. I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my skull. It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though. Are they the only ones that don't like that? Nobody likes that.
Starting point is 00:18:09 As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American Football as part of the MyCultura podcast network, available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. It's a ton of exciting because their new star is Javier. Chichiturito Hernandez. Everyone sees me as a football player, but before anything else, I'm human. Every single day, I'm still learning how to live with problems, mistakes, relationships,
Starting point is 00:18:43 emotions ever since I was born. And I still have so many questions. Where do we come from? What happens after death? How do you deal with cancellation? Cristiano or Messi? Do aliens exist? What is love?
Starting point is 00:18:54 Real Madrid or Varsa? From every day and ordinary to the deep and extraordinary. This isn't a normal podcast. Everything here is spontaneous. real and genuine. This podcast is like a deep talk with your closest friends, where vulnerability comes out. Conspiracy theories end up on the table,
Starting point is 00:19:09 and goals and lessons are shared. All in this life has an order perfect and everything is just. Wait, me, I'm going to be able to be able to be. We are here to connect. The Chicharito. Oh, Javier-R-Nandes, and together with I-Hard Radio, we're going to make the ordinary, extraordinary, stay close.
Starting point is 00:19:24 It is a carac. Wow. Listen to learning to be human on IHard Radio, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you can. get your podcast. Yeah, it's good to just like, the thing with Summerhouse is I just have to grind out filming like this summer and it takes me right into football season. True.
Starting point is 00:19:42 When I can, when it's like you have every excuse in the world to like. Stay home. To be on your couch and just like have to be on and do nothing. So speaking of your knee, how are you feeling like you can't sleep? Dude, so bad. Just because actually rehab is kind of fun. This sounds really bad because there's like five of us in there. we're all going through it.
Starting point is 00:20:03 And three of us are kind of doing like the same rehab. And so, yeah, which is weird. But I think I'm just like doing more and it's like progressing really, really well. But with that, like anytime you like you push an injury,
Starting point is 00:20:16 like it's just going to ache and step in when you're doing something new. So yeah, I'm not sleeping so. Your guys photo shoe is cute though. All the braces and the walking sticks. It was hilarious. It like everyone's always like it looks like you guys. because when we when this first all started happening like two of the girls were taken out on
Starting point is 00:20:35 wheelchairs like someone else had crutches and arms like you know those war pictures from like world war one or like that's exactly what like and so they all hated me because they were all walking like guys we have to get a big like this season but like we're gonna like want this and so i made them all come back and then we took it like it was so no it's so it's like i mean big picture yeah we wish that didn't happen but you're not going to not take a picture when you guys all have like boots and you know yeah and my thing is like this is a crazy season and it did happen so like we should just embrace for our out like this shit sucks and like it is like fun in a sick way and so like live it up a little bit who cares so that's very sophy of you
Starting point is 00:21:22 it is isn't it but it's fun and so is that is that photo shoot like a playoff photo shoot that you guys did for the point actually the WMBA always does their roster like big team photo at the end of the year so normally like you would expect people to do it at the beginning right we we do it to the very last day because you did like trades and people like that's like your final roster picture which ours was like yeah but after that we actually played that's when we played chicago and then We went to Washington, we won, which is a really good win. And now we have a game to side against Minnesota. It doesn't really matter, I don't think.
Starting point is 00:22:06 And then we're into playoff. So it is kind of like boom, boom, boom, playoff. I mean, yeah, we can move into like our WNBA, the thick of it. Well, actually, before we go, what's your favorite, like jersey for, or like your favorite uniform that you guys wear? I think the red is the most sharp. Yes. So everyone loves our red just because it,
Starting point is 00:22:29 Pups. I love it. A lot, a lot of people's favorite is our Stranger Things jerseys. It's like a mix between black and red. What's the inspiration for those? Do you know? I'm not, I'm not so sure why they, I didn't watch Stranger Things. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:46 But they've had them here. Like every team has like a unique jersey. You only get to wear sometimes. Right. And so like in Phoenix is like the revival jersey. And I was like black, but it had like the sunset colors. of Phoenix. Here, it's Stranger Things. And the Stranger Things are, it's bad ass. I don't really know why they chose Stranger Things. I'm going to Google it.
Starting point is 00:23:07 Okay, the Indiana Fever where Stranger Things themed jerseys is a part of a collaboration with Netflix, which began in 2021. The jerseys are inspired by the show's setting in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. Incorporate the show's distinctive font and the color palette and even feature references to the character 11. The team sees a strong connection. between their athletes and the show's themes of female empowerment and resilience as seen an 11 story oh that's cool actually that's really cool i didn't know i didn't know up well now you do but these are i mean obviously these are sick yeah the jerseys are the jerseys are awesome like that might be my favorite one but honestly i'm kind of weird but i kind of like her navy blue ones for some reason
Starting point is 00:23:52 too actually i like all of them what am i do i think all of them are very like striking and I don't know. I just motion it. We already covered it, but you guys clenched a playoff berth, which I think we can all say is a win despite the injuries to this season, like making the playoffs when half of your team is in a boot
Starting point is 00:24:17 is pretty awesome. So I think we'll go over a little round of applause for our fever girls. You think you. But how are you feeling? Like, whatever the playoffs like, just walk us through. where the fever are at right now.
Starting point is 00:24:31 So I think playoff season is just like a whole different season. I know you always hear athletes say that, but like it truly is. So like you can have the best record in the regular season and like literally losing the first round if that team doesn't have experience. Like experience is what wins playoffs and championships. It's always good if you have like young bucks who are like killing it too
Starting point is 00:24:55 or you know, but if you have experienced players on your team, that's i don't know what it is but it's like you have those playoff experiences it's just you know how to handle the momentum swings you know how to handle um uh the runs like it's just it's it's it's hard to explain but when you're in it it's freaking or so um shout out to all of our like 10 day seven day contracts coming in because they've been really stepping it up now they're signed for the rest of the season and so we're on go girls yeah like it's like it's like it's a good thing This is such a weird season, but for some reason, we're able to kind of figure it out. Now, at first round, I think we're either playing Minnesota, Vegas, or Atlanta.
Starting point is 00:25:38 So those are, you know, Vegas has been on a freaking hot streak. Minnesota has been on a hot streak. I would like to play Atlanta. I think we match up best with them. But we have Kelsey Mitchell. We have AB. We have shooters out there. And so, again, it's playoff experience.
Starting point is 00:25:57 And so I think Atlanta has maybe the least amount of playoff experience, if I'm not mistaken. And I think our team does two, but I think that would be our best. Do you guys, as the playoffs, not east and west? Or it is? Oh. Yeah, so that's the difference. I think once we start expanding teams, maybe they will get into the east and west,
Starting point is 00:26:19 but as a now, no. Oh, I, okay. Something they have changed for this year, which maybe a lot of fans don't know is like last year you would play like say say we get matched up with it lena we would play the first two games there and if we steal one then we come home which this year it's one day or one year one year so one one okay that makes sense you know it's crazy is MLB wild card is best of three and i think the higher seed gets all three games which is gnarly i want to double check me I'm pretty sure wildcard is the higher C just gets to keep all three.
Starting point is 00:27:00 But, okay, that's interesting. Does that take longer, though, because you have to go, you're traveling in between? I mean, I guess it all kind of depends on who you get matched up with. So, like, I think I'm really leaning towards Atlanta because you're in the same time zone. The flight is like an hour 15. Or like, if you get in Vegas, it's different time zone, a longer flight. Minnesota, it's only an hour time change, but I just don't play. Yeah, no, they're good.
Starting point is 00:27:32 Okay, dope. Well, we're excited. Do you guys do anything different? I mean, this is your first year with the fever, but like in your experience in the playoffs, like, do you guys game playing differently? Do you play the bench less? Do you play the bench less? What about the playoffs kind of changes how, um,
Starting point is 00:27:54 the teams you've been on, like operate. Yeah. I say when you're in playoffs, the only real thing that is, is changing is like, you're playing this team two, three times or longer this year. It could be five or seven games, right?
Starting point is 00:28:10 And so like, you are so dialed into your scout and personnel. And so like, it's like the little details and like knowing literally, like, that person goes left and like spin, everyone on the roster has got to know that. because you could be matched up with them at any time. And like, that could be the play that makes this winner look.
Starting point is 00:28:29 So it's like the attention to detail is so much bigger and so much more important. And so it all vary from game to game, right? Like you play this team already four times or three times in the season. And then you're about to play him three more times. And so it's like little adjustments and being able to adjust on the fly. And so like I think the biggest thing, and that's maybe more the experience and maturity and like knowing, the league comes into play is because it is like the small,
Starting point is 00:28:58 to the detail, which is actually the massive big. So I think that's all. Because at a regular game, like, you know personnel and like that definitely not win, but like this is just a different. This is a different. Do you feel like being new on the fever? And like we know you fucking talk a lot and don't shut up, but do you feel like,
Starting point is 00:29:16 do you feel like you were able to be a vocal leader like right when you join the fever? Or does it take a little time? for you to feel comfortable being a vocal leader. And like, obviously now that's what your whole role will be throughout the playoffs. Yeah. Dude, good point. I'm curious. Um, no, I think like for me, I think that's what makes, that's like a part of me that like I, that comes natural, right?
Starting point is 00:29:41 So like I, when I'm out there, it's just natural for me to, to be the communicator and to be talking through everything. Like this is, I just, just how I am. But I will say like the past, first of all, we haven't been. traveling because we haven't been clear to travel because of like blood thoughts and swelling and stuff like I and then the last game at home I was still like too injured and more of a risk that I was in a suite so I wasn't even on the bench but now I think they're going to be able to put us on the bench so like that communication piece is going to be huge so like I didn't even think about that like yeah I'm sure they miss me yapping all the time
Starting point is 00:30:16 but some people probably enjoy not there but yeah that's a good point so I think yeah but also just being on a new team I feel like even I don't know. I think about it from a football standpoint all the time, but it would certainly take, I don't know, you want to, like,
Starting point is 00:30:30 earn the respect before you start fucking yapping at everyone. But I do think that is so much part of kind of who you are that maybe you're less inclined to kind of, like, feel it out and just, like, hop right into it. But I think it feels probably very authentic coming from you
Starting point is 00:30:47 in the sense that I don't think anyone would question whether you're being, like, fucking genuine or not, you know? Oh, yeah. Yeah, and I think the more that they got to know me and stuff like that, they understood. And like another thing is like, I'm getting old in our league.
Starting point is 00:31:01 This is my seventh year, right? So maybe if I was like one, two or three years, like it would be like a little. But nah, I'm just like I get too. I am. So. But I'm excited for, I'm excited for playoffs for all. Like I think we're going to. I think people, when we're on, we're on and we're hard to art.
Starting point is 00:31:20 So shut out. Let's go. I'm going to hop into this just super quick, fine or find. Yeah, let's do it. Fine, the Missou fan who had the chance to win $25,000 on a field goal, held up a shirt that said FKU turned around, kicked the ball at the Kansas bench. Goet move.
Starting point is 00:31:40 It didn't hit anyone. It was like a little line drive, blah, blah, blah. And that is our friend Carter Erie from Columbia, Missouri. Uh, good, great work. And you're fine, Carter. You are not fine. Oh, that's who kicked that. I didn't know that it's Carter Erie.
Starting point is 00:32:00 You, that was the most badass damn thing that I have seen in a minute. And his wife Laura texted me a video and like I was. Me too. I don't know where it was that. I was like, who is this legend that I was going through my text? And then it was she sent and she said, like, hey, my husband. I was like, oh my God. And so I'm going to get out of silence.
Starting point is 00:32:19 Like that is so bad. Oh my God. Because that was crazy. and just like such a, it's crazy how they haven't played this game in, what was it, 20 years or something? Yeah, what, 2011 or something? Sorry, I just said 20 years. The game definitely happened after I was 10 years old, but it's been a long time. And to just like, that's such authentic hatred and so genuine, it was just.
Starting point is 00:32:44 Dude, there was this photo on there, and it was like, this explains the border of war in one photo. and it's like a Kansas guy like and then like a whole section of a zoo people just like flipping them off it was awesome oh god I just love it did you see the fan that pushed D-Hop's helmet and then Lamar pushed him back you saw that yeah I did
Starting point is 00:33:03 I'll just fucking say it fine you're a dickhead he's banned from every NFL stadium now that's crazy yeah like I agree with that he should like you can't be hitting people in the hell like that right people I I find And you see this a lot with, like, baseball.
Starting point is 00:33:22 I don't know if you remember last year, like some dude didn't to catch the ball and a Yankees fan, like held his wrist. I forget who it was. It might have been Mookie Betts. And a Yankees fan took his glove and, like, tried to pull the ball out. Some fans just feel, like, entitled.
Starting point is 00:33:39 I don't know if it's because they paid a lot of money for the seats or because they're, like, in the field. But, like, to push DeAndre's helmet is, I can't even fathom the ball. It's not like he was all the same team like, good job, buddy. Like it was like a push. Like, no, I think no, you can't be doing that. You literally can't be doing it.
Starting point is 00:33:59 And then Lamar pushed the shit out of that guy. And I think he had every right. Yeah, it was awesome. Definitely fine. But real quick, you said that baseball. Did you see the lady going viral for stealing that kid? Yeah. Also fine.
Starting point is 00:34:10 Yeah. The internet's cooking her right now. I feel like it's probably, she's probably like learned her lesson via internet trolls. but like that was the most caring shit I've ever seen. Baseball is so like kill or be killed when those balls are bouncing around and you want to take one home. She literally was like, it was in our area. Go get it thin, home girl.
Starting point is 00:34:31 That's not enough of worse. That is literally not how it works. I could not believe that. I was like, this bitch. Oh, my God. Then like, no, everyone has their back. We got a goodie bag. I'm sure we'll get to do it.
Starting point is 00:34:44 Listen. And you're there for heart. heart-wrenching knockouts. The world's biggest stage. And breathtaking triumph. In 2026 FIFA World Cup. The knockout stage. Every match, every moment.
Starting point is 00:35:01 Listen on TSN Radio. Join the globe. On the road to the July 19th final. 2026 FIFA World Cup. Stream it all live on TSN Radio. Available on I-Heard Radio. American soccer is exploding. The knockout rounds are here.
Starting point is 00:35:21 The U.S. won their group. and now every match is winner go home. I'm Tad Ramos. And I'm Tom Boger. On our podcast, Inside American Soccer, we'll talk about the real storylines. I'm not worried about Policic. I'm not worried about Balagan.
Starting point is 00:35:40 I'm not worried about McKinney. My only concern is what happens in the back. And give you the truth about the U.S. national team from inside the program. It wouldn't be a huge surprise if our team ends up in the quarterfinals or potentially a great run into the semifinals. whether you're a lifelong fan
Starting point is 00:35:59 or this is your first World Cup We've got you covered Listen, inside American soccer with Tom Bogart and Tabramus and the iHeart radio app Apple Podcasts wherever you get your podcast I love the sounds The buzzing from the stadium
Starting point is 00:36:18 The chanting from the fans The announcers calling the place Soccer, football At home Why do I watch the World Cup? That's like asking me Why do I breathe? I inherited that fandom for my mom.
Starting point is 00:36:32 I like watching it with my dad. It's a connecting force. From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots. We go beyond the game to the people and the stories that make it great. A soccer game is a festival. It's not just a game. It's your culture.
Starting point is 00:36:57 I took an elbow to my head, which cracked my... It is an American game. The Brazilians don't like hearing that, though. Are they the only ones that don't like that? Nobody likes that. As we get ready for the Men's World Cup this summer, listen to American Football as part of the My Coutura Podcast Network, available on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:37:34 Everyone sees me as a football player, but this is a lot of it. Before anything else, I'm human. Every single day, I'm still learning how to live with problems, mistakes, relationships, emotions, ever since I was born. And I still have so many questions. Where do we come from? What happens after death? How do you deal with cancellation? Cristiano or Messi?
Starting point is 00:37:50 Do aliens exist? What is love? Real Madrid or Varsa? From every day and ordinary to the deep and extraordinary. This isn't a normal podcast. Everything here is spontaneous, real and genuine. This podcast is like a deep talk with your closest friends, where vulnerability comes out. The literacy theories end up on the table and goals and lessons are shared.
Starting point is 00:38:09 All in this life has an order perfect and everything is just. Wait-in me, I feel to pressurably, but me will go to be able to be come. We are here to connect. The Chicharito. And together with I-Hadradi, we're going to make the ordinary, extraordinary. Stay close. It's a crack. Wow.
Starting point is 00:38:26 Listen to learning to be human on IHard Radio, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Meet some. Yeah. And the dad took it over to his son. You know, there's like those. autograph fans, like this, the creepy dudes who like, like, keep the baseballs for themselves and, like, collect stuff. Well, at least he was, like, just a normal dad and not, like, keeping it for himself. But, um, also we have young Hokku missed a guy, the game winning field goal,
Starting point is 00:38:51 Falcons bucks, uh, skipped the post game conference. Um, I, I'll let you go first on what, what you think about players skipping post game when you're obligated to do it. I don't like that at all, because if he would have made it, he would have loved to go in there and kind of get the praise and stuff like that, but that's not how sports works. Like, this is a character builder, and I think that that shows character too.
Starting point is 00:39:18 And like, let me, if he's injured or something's wrong and you can't, that's different. But if you're just not going in there because you miss and you don't want to take the heat or answer hard questions, like, come on, but that's part of pro sports, so fuck up. So I'm not a fan of that. You, that's part of the job. You sign up for,
Starting point is 00:39:34 People want to hear from you. Can't get too high, can't get too low. And this dude, I guess, got too low, which sucks. Also not to be the like, you're a kicker guy, but like your quarterback winner loss has to answer questions and face the music. Your coach has to. Like, why do you get a pass because you missed the kick?
Starting point is 00:39:53 I disagree. If, yeah, go in. And it's also time to like save face. Go say, go explain what happened, tell them like you got to be better. And then people move on. It looks worse now that you didn't show up and you missed the game. Like, like that's not a good up like that's like that's your character like coming out. Like it's in.
Starting point is 00:40:15 Yeah. It's okay. Everyone messes up. Like you know one is ever going to play perfect. You know what I mean? And so like, I was just you didn't, you happened to miss and that's okay. You've missed before. But like how you respond to it is what people are going to remember.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Like this, you're going to know that you didn't go show up and now people are probably judging him for that. Texas. Yeah. Last one, Angel Reese, suspended by the Chicago Sky after making comments detrimental to the team, which I thought,
Starting point is 00:40:40 didn't she get suspended because she got eight, she had eight texts, and that's a league suspension. And so now she's suspended again. I don't know. It's just a lot of drama. But she said,
Starting point is 00:40:51 and not a great quote, we have to get good players, we have to get great players. That's a non-negotiable for me, which is why the team gave her the little tough love. I'll let you go, first here. Not great. No, that's not great. And like, I get when you're when you're losing and it's been a frustrating season, like everyone is feeling those emotions. And when I say everyone, like,
Starting point is 00:41:14 it's not just her. Like I'm sure her teammates feel it. Her coaches feel the organization, the fans, like literally everyone feels that. And there's some things that you, and this is going, there's just some things that you can't say. And I think one of my biggest things is I'm a very team first person. Like I always give the team for my feelings, and I think that should be a standard. And so you got to protect your locker room. And so you just can't be saying everything you're feeling because that just is not a good look.
Starting point is 00:41:44 And then your teammates feel a certain way and that causes division in a locker room. So it's just protect your locker room at all costs. And I'm sure she regrets saying that. Don't get me wrong. But man, there's just some things that everyone probably knows, but you just can't say you got to let the front office. you can have those conversations behind closed doors,
Starting point is 00:42:03 but to say it in media, you know, is kind of brutal, I think. Yeah, and I guess this is fine or fined, but that's, she got suspended, so they kind of answered it for us. If anyone that's had, you should get fined. Yeah. Damn.
Starting point is 00:42:19 Should I get fined for, I've been my teammates up and talking about other players around the league of them getting sound, but. True. A lot worse. Can we hop in? Tell me something.
Starting point is 00:42:31 Gladly accept your invite. All right. With that being said, then, here's, here's Lance. Lance. Hey, Sophie and West is Lance from Indiana. Wanted to know if either of you have any fan bases, college or pros, that get under your skin or that you have beef with. Because I know as a chief fan, there's plenty of fan bases that try to get under our skin. Thanks, guys.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Bye. I guess, Sophie, that's a fucking perfect opportunity. Who do you hate? Fuck, Kansas baby, dude. That was the most. Okay, first of all, we start off really damn slow. And I was like, all right, I'm like, what are we doing? Throw the damn ball.
Starting point is 00:43:07 They couldn't stop it. They couldn't stop it. And then we settled in our quarterback chilled out. He was getting in his rhythm. And then we just freaking killed it. He's good. He's good. Lance, yes, as a chief sin, there's a zillion fan bases and team.
Starting point is 00:43:24 I think I hated the Bengals so much for the last few years, just given they kind of played us really well in the regular season and just end that one AFC championship game and we like they were kind of the chiefs kryptonite they've kind of been humbled a little bit the last few years but I just felt like and Jamar Chase kind of fed into it he hates the chiefs like that was a really tasty rivalry and I I don't know I feel like the Ravens and bills are just a little classier than the Bengals but I'll also say to Sophie's hate hatred for Kansas I hate the University of Montana
Starting point is 00:44:00 they live in a way worse town, worse school, worse colors. I got a cool stadium, but that is who I learned to hate throughout my college career. And so, each day grizzlies go, cats go. Actually, you know, it's funny
Starting point is 00:44:18 someone just mailed me. Yeah, that's what everyone says. Wait, Sophie, look. Hold on. Someone just mailed me all of these. What is funny? He always does this and I never know what he's going to have. It's a bunch of hats that just say, each shit grizz on them.
Starting point is 00:44:35 Dude, that is hilarious. Hey, you know, we should do that and go through like all the, the sayings or like, not, but like, how we say, ours is Mr. Brightside. You guys say that. Like, did you know, when we play LSU, there's a song and it's like, then, yeah, that's how your dick, bitch? Yes.
Starting point is 00:44:57 Yeah, come on. dude i'm i'm dialed so i've never heard i met the first time two years ago and i was like so just shocked but like so amazed at the same time yeah no i'm not uh okay at lance all right here's our next one alissa and west she needs our help with some dating advice so my name is alissa and i have a crush on michael where we work in the er i don't know if I should approach her shit where I eat. What do you all think? Let me know. All right. Co-workers in the ER. She wants to know. She should shit where she eats. Okay. Alyssa, that was a lot, I feel like. So it's in the ER, which to, I, uh, I, I,
Starting point is 00:45:48 that scares me. Would you, I don't know if, but also, does the trauma make you horny, probably, like all the scariness? think? I bet it does. I've never worked. I think I just snotted on myself when you said Dude, when your adrenaline is through the roof, your hormones are also through the roof. Okay. Can I say something? If you are getting turned on by. Forget my. Not Sophie. Now what I said. Now what I said. I just meant the environment is so adrenaline heavy that like if you're working with someone like like does it does it just raise the the chemicals in your body and you're kind of just like everything feels intensified you know yeah
Starting point is 00:46:40 now that you're saying that elizabeth please don't answer that because if i'm like in the er and i actually medical attention i'm just so many thinking that like you're making out I am like a hole that's not it. You're like a bolt sticking out of your head and Alyssa is just meeting with her other nerves. You know where to see mouthparts, gym minute, rain. Like, no, I don't get into that. I am pro hooking up with coworkers, but you just got to do it professionally, Alyssa. Oh, yeah, how did that work out for you, bud?
Starting point is 00:47:16 Also, do you guys need a third? Anyways, next question. All right, last one from here. West Coast, Brian from California. Here we go. Hey, guys. This is Brian from Paradise, California. My question is for both of you had either one of you ever seen a UFO in Missouri.
Starting point is 00:47:42 Sof. Well, can we pause? Do we believe in UFOs? I can talk about this for an hour. I don't think I believe in UFOs, but there is mathematically 99.999% chance that aliens exist, just so we're clear. So here, let me show you something. This will be what we end on.
Starting point is 00:48:05 I don't see, Brian, I haven't seen a UFO in Missouri. Missouri, I do want to give a shout to Missouri sunsets. It's the best sunset. The best sunset. Okay, look, the world, okay, have you ever seen one of those to scale graphics where it's like, here is the moon, here's the Earth,
Starting point is 00:48:23 here's the sun, it's 900 times bigger. And then they're like, here's our galaxy. It's fucking huge. and then they zoom out like a bunch more and they're like, here are all the stars that we know exist and then they zoom out even more and they're like,
Starting point is 00:48:36 we know this exists, but we haven't explored it yet. Yeah. If Earth exists with life on it and there are a gazillion more galaxies and stars and planets and suns, the chances of there being other life is fucking 100%
Starting point is 00:48:55 you know. I feel like there's stuff like UFOs we see like space scares me so I don't really get into it because it freaks me the fuck out but i feel like that the government plants a lot of that stuff here we go so it's hard for me to believe in like real UFOs do i believe maybe there's other life out there when i see that type of stuff it's like there has to be like we can't be the only but then i'm like i don't know but then like the stuff that we do see that's like too obvious or whatever like it's i feel like it's the government i've watched too long terms that
Starting point is 00:49:31 It's also just people on Twitter with fucking Adobe Premiere. It's not the government. Well, it could be that too. There are always those videos where there's like a star in the sky and everyone's like UFO. It's something to like have fun with. I don't know. I do think if a UFO ever like came into our like into our world, it wouldn't look like
Starting point is 00:50:00 how we have made them up looking in like cartoons for the last that are many years, you know? So, it would be like some weird shape thing. Yeah. So I think to answer Brian's question, I don't think we've seen a you have in.
Starting point is 00:50:15 I haven't either. Maybe next time we go, we should lay out under the stars and keep our eyes peeled. I like that. Why don't you do that this weekend after you get inducted into the Hall of Fame and they ask you where you're going and say, you know what? I'm going to go lay in my backyard and,
Starting point is 00:50:30 look for UFOs. For Brian in California. For Brian. Fuck yeah, Brian. I like that question. That's a good one. Is that way, wait, before we get,
Starting point is 00:50:42 do people in California think that in Missouri we just like look at UFOs all fucking day? Is that what happened? People in cities and like on the West Coast, they swear like in Missouri, there's only like humans and cows. Cows. That's true though.
Starting point is 00:50:59 There's nothing else. else. Nothing. And there's, oh, you know what there is. This is how we're ending this bitch. Barbecue.
Starting point is 00:51:08 After my kickball game Thursday, I'm fine to Kansas City to go to Patrick and Travis's new restaurant. Oh, shit. Dude. Make sure to document that. I can't. Wait, is that after? They're doing one Saturday.
Starting point is 00:51:22 And then they're, I think people are going Sunday after the game, but I don't, I'm not going to go Sunday. But I'm going Saturday night and then going to the game Sunday. What day is it? Saturday. No, like the date of...
Starting point is 00:51:34 Oh, what's today? Nine? So it's probably 12 or 13 or something? Oh, shoot. Oh, so this upcoming weekend. I already texted your whole team and said, can Sophie come to Kansas City this weekend? They all told me to eat shit, so...
Starting point is 00:51:50 Yeah, the 13th. I'm taking my mom, so it'll be really cute. Yeah, she's... Nice as new. I like that. Yeah. Yeah. All right, Sophie.
