This is an I-Heart podcast.
Guaranteed Human.
Lisa, tell them about our new show.
We have a new podcast.
It's called Don't Lie to Me.
I'm Lexi Youanu.
We're two best friends,
22 years apart, but so close at heart.
And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one,
which means we have wildly different references,
occasionally different opinions,
and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all.
Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes,
good taste is my business.
Listen on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
I'm Lacey Mosley, author, actor, stand-up comedian, creator, and host of Scam Goddess Podcast.
The True Crime Comedy Podcasts all about robbery, fraud, and those who practice it.
Each week I bring on an amazing guest.
Ooh, I scammed them.
What?
I can talk to you for an hour.
You're a generational yapper like me.
That's why I had to make yapping a job.
And now you can catch full episodes of my show on YouTube.
Start listening to Scam Goddess on the Icom.
Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
It's all just a joke.
What is the value of these women?
I'm Bridget Armstrong, back with season two of the podcast, Curse of Miss America.
We're talking to participants, whistleblowers, and people who say Miss America didn't live up to their promises.
He looks and he goes, you don't look like you suffered an eating disorder.
I never received scholarship money to pay for my student loans.
Maybe this is the meta question for the podcast.
What is Miss America at this point?
Listen to The Curse with Miss America on the IHartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
I'm Hamza.
And I'm Martin.
And we're the hosts of Out of Character.
The funniest podcast in the entire world.
I like that.
It's a good way to promote ourselves.
We are two funny guys having fun enjoying ourselves.
And we just know how to have fun, unlike anyone else.
If you guys like fun conversations, hot takes.
What else?
Not too hot.
Just kind of lukewarm.
Just to get your mind thinking a little bit.
Listen out of character on the Iheart radio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
There are thousands of podcasts that can tell you how to better yourself.
Get Worse with Kyle Pruh is not one of those podcasts.
So if you're interested in getting thinner,
going to therapy, starting peptide, setting boundaries,
taking supplements, making your better, getting closure,
then I would humbly recommend other podcasts.
If you're interested in blackmail, love bomb,
and cloning yourself or getting revenge,
then we've got a little something,
something for a dastardly individual like you.
Listen to Get Worse with Kyle Pru on the IHartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Hi, I'm Kate Hudson.
And my name is Oliver Hudson.
We wanted to do something that highlighted our relationship.
And what it's like to be siblings.
We are a sibling rivalry.
No, no.
Sibling rivalry.
So I am honored and excited.
to be here with you because I haven't seen you in many, many months.
I haven't seen anyone from this show, Special Forces, in many, many months.
I went to Rudy Reyes, who is the man, will always be the man.
We're going to get into some, I might press you a little bit.
Sure.
Yeah, I'm going to impress you.
Sure.
Happy to be here, brother.
Yeah, because you pressed the fuck out of me.
Didn't I?
Physically, so maybe I'll press you emotionally.
Okay, you got it, brother.
I do remember being really hard on you.
Oh, yeah.
Because I love him.
Because I wanted the best from you, for you, for you.
And I think you get it now.
It was great.
This man put me through some of the hardest shit that I've ever done in my life, absolutely.
The hardest shit I've ever done in my life.
The context of it matters so much.
There is no cutting the camera and here's a cold bottle of water.
You are living in this life as realistic as you guys can make it.
You know what I mean?
We were just talking about arrogance, right?
and how you have to be an arrogant fuck sometimes, right?
So I guess the question is we get into all kinds of shit,
but that arrogance, can you turn that off when you go home?
Or does that just become...
Or does that just...
Here, let me call my therapist.
Pretend I'm a therapist.
Or does that...
Or is that something that just fucking stays with you?
There was a Marine Corps commercial that said, like,
the change is forever.
Right. And it's wild like when you're young, the idealism and the stoicism, the idealism,
the very black and white way to look at the world of good and evil. And to, I think, you know,
for us boys, we play war since we're three or four years old. Yeah. You don't even have to
show a kid a gun and he'll make one out of wood. He'll find one. Yeah, it's who we are. And so we want to
we ask ourselves, would I really be brave when someone is, is pouring fire into my position?
Will I really be brave when I'm getting showed?
And you always ask yourself that you're not the same anymore.
And I used to be married.
Right.
We talked about this, which was so interesting.
And I'm going to jump back to this because on like day three or four,
all of a sudden you start opening up because these motherfuckers, there is no, I can't even explain to you.
It's hard to describe, isn't it?
Yeah, it's hard to describe.
And they're on your ass in the best possible way.
But then there was this moment when Rudy opened up and it was just an amazing story.
And it just lent itself to sort of this, you know, understanding of who you really are and what you went through.
You know what I mean?
And I was about to ask that.
Does that love, that love?
love for a recon, that love for country,
that love for everything else,
cloud and can fuck up your life.
I'm not saying it's bad to have that,
but is that tunnel vision?
We call it target fixation.
Target fixation.
Target fixation.
Yes, absolutely.
Very few relationships or families
or anything in that way
remain intact after
so much extremity.
and then now we're professionals at this.
But I would not change it because it gave me all these skills.
That's how I'm able to work with you and put celebrities and actors and athletes
through a portion of selection, a portion of military training, idealism sacrifice that goes
back to the Greeks.
And we tear you all away from who you think you are.
and what an experience because of all your fans,
all the people that love you all and support you all,
think about that impact.
And we could use a whole lot more positivity in the world right now
in our country, our allies and the whole world.
And to see men and women falling in on the parade square
and throwing themselves full force into a world of pain,
misery and suffering.
And you all end up discovering yourselves.
And that I get to be a part of that.
Yeah.
I wouldn't have that ability.
I wouldn't have anything if it wasn't for being born in America and the United States
Marine Corps.
I'm an orphan.
I grew up freaking hard for an American.
I tell a story.
Yeah.
I grew up hard for an American.
And you wonder where I get this chip on my shoulder.
And it's not that big anymore.
and why I'm insane about pushing myself to the extreme.
It's because when you're neglected and abandoned,
and no one's coming to save you.
Your last prayers at six years old,
the things to get better are not answered.
You have to rely on yourself.
Once you start fighting Afghanistan, Pakistan,
my team led the invasion in Iraq in 03.
My platoon, we were the first guys in Afghanistan in 01.
You see what kids have there that do not have.
There's no Omaha home for boys.
There's no wrestling mat and weights.
There's no Dr. Harlan Hassan to put in teeth
so that you can smile for the first time.
And I said, holy moly.
Rudy, you think you're such a badass.
Oh, you think you're so freaking badass.
And you think it's so shit hot.
as a recon man, a scout sniper, all this.
If I wasn't born in America, I wouldn't be here with you.
I wouldn't be doing this impactful and influential work to your culture at large.
Yeah.
How do you get through something like that?
You know what I mean?
Like, how do you come through that to where you can sleep soundly, you know, without
medicating?
Yeah.
You know, you can just live in this world after having.
I still have a hard time with it.
it except, well, I still have a hard time with it.
And that's a lot of us do you.
And I'm not on medication, which is rad.
I still drink too much sometimes when I'm not working because I enjoy it.
This is a mission, Billy Foxy, Q and Chris.
We have to recon this stuff.
We build this program.
It's about six months of work all in all.
And it takes everything he got there because, look, life and limbs on
is on the line.
You guys said something really interesting when Shady McCoy, right?
When Sean, he literally got up on the, we slept the night and he got up at 5 a.m.
And, and WD, right?
He was gone.
Yeah, yeah.
VW.
DW.
Voluntary withdrawal.
In Recon, we say DOR.
Drop on request.
D-O-R.
Yeah, V-W.
Yeah, VW.
And I remember him being like,
Shady was just like, I ain't mad.
Cut out for this shit, man.
You know, he's like, peace, boys.
And I remember Q and you guys came out here and you were like, that is so fucked up.
Because we have spent six months putting this course together, testing this course.
And it's just disrespectful.
And 80 years of military experience and sacrifices and families not knowing when if we will come back.
because top secret clearances, the broken legs and bones and hospitalizations from hard parachute missions
and then a nervous system that'll never quiet down and all of this.
And then a cat comes on our course and then Fs it off.
Yeah.
And honestly, that changed that changed so much for me with this experience.
When you guys said that I'm like, holy fuck.
dude. I need to respect this process. You know what I mean? I need to respect the boys who actually
put all of their shit into this for us. And you guys kept hammering that home. You know what I mean?
And that was really what was sort of motivating for me to try to extend and push as far as I can.
You thought you were maybe making it today too because you were hurting, but you kept going.
I kept going. You had a great attitude. You had a great attitude. You still got a great attitude.
It's just who you are. I love that you guys were because you could watch.
all the shit back there.
Oh, well, you know.
Can you hear and see everything?
You know what?
This program, just so you all know, down the barrel, what we do on special forces is
100% legit.
I don't even know any of y'all's names.
You guys are number three.
That's right.
Right.
And then occasionally, you know, I'm like, yeah, actor and smart ass and then the skater and
the boxer.
and the MBA guy.
We know your numbers.
Because that's part of the immersion that we all had to go through to.
And we're observing you all from the most.
I mean, we already know who's who.
We do not need to collect the new.
So whatever you all have in their barracks, that's your time.
Yeah.
That's your time.
But now looking back after going through the process,
can't you see that we can see everything about you all?
Oh, yeah.
It shows up on the field.
Yeah.
In what you're doing and what you're not doing.
Yeah.
Everything is laid out there.
And I'm not even that intelligent or anything.
But I can observe.
But you're intuitive and you know human condition.
You all lay it all out there.
It's not that hard.
I mean, we get, you know, we're all in our damn 50s and 60s.
Yeah.
We got to make it look easy for you all.
But we think about all the men that sacrificed and built us.
All my instructors, I remember being Lance Corporal belt buckle with the freaking rope around my freaking body or double time harching everywhere and getting destroyed in the swimming pool.
I remember all that and getting gassed and beaten.
Those people made me.
All of that culminates into what we're putting out to you.
Yeah, yeah. I have a friend, his name is Ben Collins, and he was Green Beret, you know, back in the day. He's, he worked in Washington. I mean, the guy's been through. He's the leader as well. Like, he's lit. And he was so interested in what I did. And we just sat down and drank and talked about it. And he was, his face was all lit up. And it was really cool for me to hear because he knew all the shit that we were doing, you know. And it was almost this confirmation of.
I understand we're actors and whatever the fuck we are and it's a taste of it.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
But it was enough of a taste and it followed the track of what you guys have done to a ninth degree where he was like, oh, you fuck off and they punch, they'll knock you out.
Oh, yeah.
They'll punch you in the face.
Oh, yeah.
You know what I mean?
On our training tank on our swimming pool.
It's a 15 meter pool and it's 25 feet deep and do our abandoned ship drill.
off of them and just pure blood and guts destruction happens in this freaking pool.
Painted on the wall there is, if you are unconscious, you have not quit.
I have pulled out three Marines unconscious and then had to render aid and CPR.
To become a combat diver and combat water survival swimmer and instructor, this is the level
that is necessary.
Yeah.
We're doing everything with Cammy's boots, gear kit.
Um, some times Marines die in the pool.
Yeah.
And my first year at the unit, 23 of my brothers died just in the first year.
And that was just in training.
That's in training.
Um, the nature of the work is very, is on the edge.
And, um, so that's why there's gravitas with us and why we take it so seriously.
Yeah.
Putting it out to you.
Well, it's a question actually like, you know, how do you know how hard to push us idiots?
meaning how do you know I know we do physicals and stuff but how do you know we're not
gonna fucking die yeah yeah we're watching you know what we are concerned you all matter
you all are my whole world there every one of you you all are my recruits are my whole world
I'm there to make sure you get something from this yeah sometimes that means I kick your
fucking ass other times I pull you in and I'm always watching for health uh
and safety and when we're doing water work.
And it's inherently dangerous.
All of us are on it.
Yeah.
You notice we are on it.
Oh, yeah.
But damn, sometimes, you know, it's right there on the edge.
As you know.
But I wouldn't have these skills out of Kansas, City, Missouri, Omaha, Nebraska.
No.
Brother, Marine Corps gave me all this.
Military gave me all this.
No, no, of course.
I'm so thankful.
Of course.
Well, what's nice, what's nice is it.
you have gone through this, you still know who you are. You know it's, it is part of your life.
It's a massive part of your life. But you've also returned to your kids. You know what I'm saying?
You have this back nine, this secondary life, this secondary life. Second chance for the world.
And Americans, we love second chance. Yeah. It's part of our culture. It's just so special and so
fucking great. And then just watching all you guys, your personalities are so different. Yes.
You know what I mean? Like Q's kind of the quiet one, you know, does this.
thing, you know, uh, uh, Billy.
Sharpest, sharp, dude.
Most intelligent man I've ever known.
Billy.
And he, he, I think he's only read one book.
Yeah.
It's the most intelligent man I've ever known.
And by the way, you know how you can tell a lot about intelligence is humor.
Isn't he the funniest?
He's the funniest motherfucker ever.
Dude.
One liner for every time.
Yeah.
So I don't know if it's going to make the show or not.
Oh, bro.
He's out of control.
When they pull, when they pulled off Brandy Glanville's, uh, thing.
Yeah.
And her hair's.
all crazy. And he goes, he looked like an out of work violinist. And I was like, dude,
that is so funny. And then when we did the, when we did the chopper drop, yeah, that was the first
thing. I, I took a risk because I know that, you know, I should just be cool. But I, I was on the
platform with him and I just said, I said, you got a little too familiar. I, no, I said, I said,
I said, I said, I said, I'm taking a risk here, but I said, out of work violinist is this
fucking astounded. He was cool. He was like, he was like, he.
You just kind of gave a nod to me.

Lisa, we should tell them about our new show.
Oh my God, Lexi.
We have a new podcast.
It's called Don't Lie to Me.
I'm Lexi Youanu.
We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart.
And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references,
occasionally different opinions, and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all.
I'm not going to get anywhere fighting.
That is wild.
I learned that about you today.
Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes,
good taste is my business.
And I've always got something to say.
If men were just honest about this,
there would be so much more peace in the world.
We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older,
and a little wiser.
We're best friends, but we don't always agree.
Because you told us how accommodating you are.
Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight,
but there's only so much fight I can fight.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Liar.
Listen on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
I don't really care.
I'm Hamza.
And I'm Martin.
And we're the hosts of Out of Character.
It's a podcast.
I know there's a lot of them going around.
But why should you listen to ours?
Well, we're only the best podcast in the entire world.
And we talk about pretty much everything under the sun.
For example, music we're listening.
to underground music, trending music, drama in music worlds.
Yes, sometimes we even talk about just everyday mundane situations in our lives,
like the cool Uber driver we just had.
Or the food we just say that is surprisingly delicious.
Or we'll talk about the Med Gala and the looks that they wore.
Are they awesome? Are they trendy? Come find out.
Because our opinion matters. And so does yours.
And this is a place where all of our minds can come together and connect.
So what are you waiting for?
come connect with us. Listen out of character
from Will Ferrell's Big Money Players Network
on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Pods,
or wherever you get your podcasts.
For more than a century,
Miss America sold the country of fantasy.
Well, are you ready, ladies?
Okay, here we go.
But over the past decade,
the crown's been slipping.
They said, goodbye to swimsuits.
Now, hello to lawsuits.
I'm Bridget Armstrong.
Last season, we took you inside the world
of America's next top model.
Now I'm back with season two of this podcast, Curse of Miss America,
investigating the rise, fall, and uncertain future of one of America's most iconic institutions.
The Miss America pageant.
I never received scholarship money to pay for my student loans.
He looks and he goes, you don't look like you suffered an eating disorder.
It's a great, but looks too ethnic.
It's a story the Miss America organization really doesn't want us to tell.
An exploitation of our Miss America's is treated by the Miss America organization as an attack on Miss America itself.
Listen to the curse of Miss America on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
I'm Lacey Mosley, author, actor, stand-up comedian, creator, and host of Scam Goddess Podcast.
The True Crime Comedy Podcasts all about robbery, fraud, and those who practice it.
Each week I bring on incredible guests like Conan O'Brien, Iowa Debray, Lerbry, Lombe, Lombe,
Morn Morris and Nicole Byer.
Ooh, I scammed them.
What?
I can talk to you for an hour.
You're a generational yapper like me.
That's why I had to make yapping a job.
And the scams run the gamut.
I'm talking about scams from the 1800s all the way up to today.
I also warn you and keep you safe against scammers.
Call your grandparents.
Tell your parents to stop clicking on links, please.
And now you can catch full episodes of my show on YouTube.
If there's a scam, I'm here to protect.
you. And I'm also here to laugh with you. So if you like fun, if you like comedy and you like
learning and protecting yourself from criminals, start listening to scam goddess on the Iheart
radio app, Apple podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. You know what? You, you want, you charmed us
from the beginning and we didn't want to be charmed. But you had a great attitude, brother. And you know
what, really in the military and when the chips are down and you haven't eaten in a week,
When you haven't slept in a week and you're stuck in a van on an observation mission ready to freaking go when the target shows up or you got dysentery and everyone's hurting.
Guys like you, that energy and that happiness keeps it going.
And that's why, you know, that's us four, whole horsemen.
In some ways we're so different or how you observe it on the outside.
but there's something also that unites us, it takes all four of us.
Foxy also a love beautiful man, but also very strong and very hard.
Yeah, he is.
And he does not cut corners in any way.
But you know what I notice about him?
We would, you know, we would, you know, fucking run to our positions, da-da-da-da.
On the numbers.
On the numbers.
You know, the parade or even when he was running some sort of a challenge, we're all sort of hustling there.
He's like, fucking relax, relax.
Like, he was more like sort of like just chill the fuck out.
You know what I mean?
He had this sort of ease about him.
Because he wants the best out of all of you all.
And he knows that what you're about to do, remember all the training, all of the
taskers that you do, you all get me to do a demo.
Yeah.
And then hit pocket class.
And now you've got to execute.
You know, sometimes for, again, you asked about safety earlier.
That's Foxy's way of.
bringing that nervous system and stress down so that you all have a better chance
of doing the tasker correctly, not getting hurt, and also you all as recruits,
by nature of the course, you're going to fail most things.
Any one that you actually succeed at, it can really turn the tide,
not just for you, but your fellow recruits.
So Foxy's great with people.
Cue's great with people.
What would you say your strong suit is as a leader?
Not just on the show.
I'm talking about even life with your kids, with your Marines, you know, with what's your
strong suit?
We had all your people that love the fuck out of you in this room right now.
And they all went around and had to say, what is Rudy's strong suit as a leader?
By the way, my two kids, teenagers are wearing my ass out right now.
Holy molly.
How old are they, by the way?
13 or 16.
A 13 year old is working.
Yeah.
And man, I'm like, holy smokes, brother.
Yeah.
Let's go back to Fallujah.
Yeah.
That's a lot easier than dealing with this right now.
He hates everything I do.
And I'm a dork because I don't know the new freaking song that he's singing.
I'm just the most uncool dude to him.
And I just can't believe it.
Isn't that insane?
Because the year before I was everything.
All right.
First of all, hold on.
Let me just take my shirt off from you number one.
So not a cool fucking dude.
How old am I?
How old are you?
kid, where's your ass?
Bro, right?
Let me tell you what I did.
Yes, brother.
That's what I'm going through.
So, you know, I still get humbled, you know.
Because kids don't give a fuck.
Not at all.
It's my dad.
I don't care what you did.
I don't care of the dad.
My daughter's during great.
She just went through our horse blue program,
mentorship program.
Oh, really?
She came back to teach the other kids.
That's awesome.
Their health is good.
The school is good.
My health is good.
Yeah.
I can name 10.
cats better than me at everything I do 10 at least 10 better than me I um it's hard for me to say
what people yeah is my strongest that's interesting I bet you what it is is this I was blessed
with an immense amount of positive attitude and energy um I just have a lot of energy
and I happen to always think about the sunny side more than the other.
Is there a soft side?
Oh, I love animals.
I love underwater, especially when I'm rebuilding core reefs.
When I'm with my forced blue brothers and we've got cuddled fish,
they're telepathically talking to us.
We're rebuilding this reef and the swells are going.
Yeah.
And the boat's going crazy up top because we're an eight-hour freaking ride out into open ocean doing some epic work.
And the animals.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I love.
There's nothing like being underwater.
Yeah.
I'm certified.
I don't know if I told you.
I'm certified.
I dive.
So to me, it's like the, it is where everything goes away.
Isn't it beautiful?
All your thoughts go away.
You hear your breath so well.
And you, it's this is meditative, cathartic.
of state you're neutrally buoyant essentially you're in space yes i just fucking yeah present right
here yeah and there's lights everywhere it's so it's amazing and that's where it all comes from and
oh brother i live for it my teammates uh our families i love music i love film i love cinema is what i love
i'm very very very particular i'm very much a snob when it comes i know art's quite well too you know
I know history
because I've been there
I've been in those
tunnels in Babylon
I've been around
I've been a freak
I wrestled Mongolians in Mongolia
yeah
it's very hard
for me not to have some taste
about what I like
but boy when I watch a good film
or a good series
that makes me feel of things
okay so let me let me answer you question
because thanks for having me here by the
The camaraderie in the barracks.
Oh, yeah.
What happens to the group when it whittles down to the right people.
That becomes a core, doesn't it?
It really is incredible how you open up,
and it's amazing how the physical just actually bleeds into that.

and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all.
I'm not going to get anywhere fighting.
That is wild.
I learned that about you today.
Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes,
good taste is my business,
and I've always got something to say.
If men were just honest about this,
they would be so much more peace in the world,
We're going to talk about dating, relationships, beauty, getting older, and a little wiser.
We're best friends, but we don't always agree.
Because you told us how accommodating you are.
Obviously, I would do what I think I could do to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me. Don't lie to me.
Liar.

I'm Hamza and I'm Martin and we're the hosts of Out of Character.
It's a podcast, I know, there's a lot of them to listen to these days.
How are you going to get to us?
Well, there's a specific reason why you should listen to us.
We are the best podcast in the entire world, I swear.
I know, bold, but why don't we list some of the things we might talk about on a regular episode?
So sometimes we'll talk about, I don't know, the Uber driver we just had.
And how nice they were, or if we tip them or not, come and find out.
Sometimes we'll talk about that weird news story from last week.
It's the one you're thinking about, trust me.
Or maybe we'll talk about music and what's happening in the underground or drama and music or TV shows or the Met Gala and what the actors wore.
What we're saying is we're not afraid to talk about everything under the sun.
And if you want to see what that's like, come join us.
It's a place where everyone can hang out, anyone.
Wherever you're from, whatever you're like, you're welcome.

For more than a century, Miss America sold the country of fantasy.
Well, are you ready, ladies?
Okay, here we go.
But over the past decade, the crown's been slipping.
They said goodbye to swimsuits.
Now, hello to lawsuits.
I'm Bridget Armstrong.
Last season, we took you inside the world of America's next top model.
Now I'm back with season two of this podcast, Curse of Miss America,
investigating the rise, fall, and uncertain future of one of America's
most iconic institutions.
The Miss America pageant.
I never received scholarship money to pay for my student loans.
He looks and he goes,
you don't look like you suffered an eating disorder.
It's great, but looks too ethnic.
It's a story the Miss America organization
really doesn't want us to tell.
An exploitation of our Miss Americas
is treated by the Miss America organization
as an attack on Miss America itself.

I'm Lacey Mosley, author, actor, stand-up comedian, creator, and host of Scam Goddess Podcasts, the True Crime Comedy Podcasts, all about robbery, fraud, and those who practice it.
Each week I bring on incredible guests like Conan O'Brien, Iowa Deppery, Lamorne Morris, and Nicole Beyer.
Ooh, I scammed them.
What?
I can talk to you for an hour.
You're a generational yapper, like me.
That's why I had to make yapping a job.
the scams run the gamut. I'm talking about scams from the 1800s all the way up to today.
I also warn you and keep you safe against scammers. Call your grandparents. Tell your parents
to stop clicking on links, please. And now you can catch full episodes of my show on YouTube.
If there's a scam, I'm here to protect you. And I'm also here to laugh with you. So if you like
fun, if you like comedy and you like learning and protecting yourself from criminals,
Start listening to Scam Goddess on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
When you exhaust yourself, when you go through that shit, it's so much easier to be vulnerable, to be open, to talk about real feelings, you know?
Yes.
I mean, real.
Like, you're truly authentic in a live and in a place of truth.
And you're not even trying because it just can only be that way.
You get to, bro, you know, us, us freaking killers,
you can see whatever you want about us,
but we damn sure know who we are.
All that hard time out there under the water,
through the skies, coming out of that freaking bird
above the clouds looking at the stars
as you're flying down.
Incredible.
And then all you're thinking about is when I freaking get my can of
be under control, get my asthma.
Oh, by the way, it's nighttime and there bad guys up there.
You hit the deck admission, and then you, and then you yourself are lost.
You don't exist.
There's something beyond.
And then one day when you come back to Earth, whether it's in your fighting hole or
back on the ship or back at home or bus and tables as a job in between, you come back home
in here and you know yourself you definitely know all your fears all your all your all your
self all your selfishness it but but but do you know what you I feel like you did to get out
of sort of the darkness that you were in was you knew yourself over there and in those moments
and then you had to learn yourself so well said you know I'm doing that now right we all
I'm learning myself now.
That's never going to change until we fucking die.
I think we're constantly working on each, on ourselves.
In the best case scenario.
In the best case scenario, I would challenge you, I would challenge you that we are not.
We are not as a species or as a people.
We're not always learning ourselves.
We think, you know, we're doing a lot of things, but we're not always learning ourselves.
And sometimes that's necessary because we need a, um,
single pointed attention if we want to make something of ourselves in this world.
And then we get to R.H.
And wow, you're like, oh, wow.
I was a fucking bad.
I was a judgmental fucking asshole.
And I didn't exactly mean to be.
Right.
But I, if you weren't.
Think about where you can.
Yeah.
Yeah.
If you weren't at the elite level physically, mentally, spiritually and can.
take lives with your bare hands and save lives,
then I really wasn't interested in you
and thought that you're wasting your life
because that's what it took.
Now, I'm like, well, I hardly know it.
I only don't know anything, I don't know anything, really.
You know, wow, I've really fun to change some, some viewpoints.
Yeah.
And, well, maybe I should learn a lot.
more before even actually ever saying a thing.
So you see what I mean?
Like I really am in kind of a humble space right now in my life.
I'm going to ask you this too.
Other than my dad, Kurt,
you're probably the most masculine guy I've ever known.
Oh, God bless.
That's a big,
that's a big compliment, brother.
Yeah, no, it is.
Because he was a hero of mine as a kid.
Come on, man.
Kurt is the thing with McCready, dog.
Yeah, McCready.
Come on.
That's my son's favorite movie.
My son watches the thing.
with me all the time. He always talks about McCready and child. I know. That's your death.
That's right. Yeah. It's one of the great movies. Yeah. When you got dudes like that to look at it in movies
when you're a little kid. Yeah. But just even him as a man, very, very masculine man. You know what I mean? He came into my life at a young age at six or seven. My dad was out of the
picture and he raised me. And I don't know. He took me hunting for the first time. He took me out in nature for the first time. I shot my first deer at 10. You know,
I mean, like, he really brought me into a situation with a lot of tough love, too, because, you know, he would understand that I needed to panic and be alone.
He would take me onto the woods and hide, you know, and let me fucking lose my mind and then come from around a tree and say, hey, you need to chill out.
Yeah.
And now I want you to get us home.
And I'm like, what do you mean?
I'm like, I'll be right behind you.
Yes.
But you're going to get us there so you can see that you're capable.
Yes.
And I'm like, I don't want to do.
I was seven.
And I was great.
I get us home.
Now look back at it.
See what the fuck you do?
He's like, if you were alone and I wasn't here, you still know how to get home.
Yeah.
And there's this belief that all of a sudden sort of washes over you at the age seven, you know.
A confidence that comes from competence.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So anyway, the masculinity question.
What is your definition of masculinity?
Because it's shifting and changing.
First and foremost, sacrifice.
Right.
First and foremost.
That means sacrificing.
are small things or small selves and I'm obsessed with it.
You know, I live very Spartan.
You do.
My house is about as big as this room is.
I live in a little carriage house in the back of an apartment.
Old brick buildings.
This is in the Italian neighborhood of St. Louis called the Hill.
I drive a 2012 body damaged, pewter-colored Hyundai.
What do you do with all that?
Special Forces money, man.
I take care of my kids and then I build my work with New War Productions, my little production
company.
And I spend my time with Force Blue and my kids.
And kids need time and time costs money.
Yeah.
That's what I do.
I'm still risking it all.
I got an Emmy a month or so ago for the commercial.
I shot with my teammates.
All people in front of camera and behind were veterans.
Awesome, dude.
And it was a veteran mental health and suicide prevention.
That's amazing.
Now we've got this documentary.
Talk about the documentary real quick.
I still sacrifice.
I still sacrifice, brother, because if I don't, then I know something's off.
Yeah.
Hold on.
Can you be a vulnerable, can you be a vulnerable man and still be masculine?
Can you be in your feelings and still be a masculine man?
Can you talk about feelings and still be masculine?
Can you cry, you know, and still be masculine?
How about this?
A good S-A-S man.
My man, Billy Billingham, and Dan is funny.
Billy's a man.
What did he teach you all?
I mean, he says it all the time out there.
Read the room.
Yeah.
Yes, a man read the room.
Sometimes you absolutely must not show any fucking emotion.
Mm-hmm.
Because as a man, because of our bones.
Mm-hmm.
And our muscle, when the chips are down, now Americans, they take everything for granted.
There's a lot of places in the world where the chips are down right now.
The chips are down.
We are called to make hard decisions.
A team leader makes the hard calls.
And they can have no emotion at all because it's going to cloud judgment.
Now, the other side is I'm Latino, you know.
I think innately, I'm extremely emotional.
That's why my childhood was so hard is because of the cruelty
and how sad it made me about the human experience,
even kids can be monsters.
And, you know, the drug game.
I grew up on the streets and in the home.
I'm like, damn, it's savage.
And, you know, they call it all, like, they call it trafficking or, bro, you grow up in the streets.
You already know it.
You got 12-year-old prostitutes.
You got the hard drug game.
It ain't nothing new to me or anybody that is growing up in the hard world.
Of course, it broke my feet.
It made me saddened.
But I just read my comics and I read my book.
and I watch my heroic films where somehow, just when you lose all hope, still, if you believe in what's right and good, you can somehow save the day.
I, through cinema and music and nature and the beauty and being thankful, I love being around my loved ones,
I I get emotional
I cry when I listen to music
and think about
even think about my brothers
Was that learned?
You know what I mean?
Did you have to learn that later on?
Oh yeah.
You know what I mean?
After you sort of left, you know, the military
Not you've never left the military in my mind
But like, you know, you know what I'm saying?
Like integration, did you have to learn that?
You know what I think, Ollie?
You know what?
I don't really, you know,
First of all, I come here.
I know we're doing a program and I know you.
But I have no preconceived notions.
I come here and just show up as the best I can.
And so as I talk with you, I start thinking about things myself
and it kind of illuminates some things to myself that otherwise I maybe wouldn't have found.
I think you get to an age in a place like me and you have.
conquered tears, toppled regimes.
Lost your family.
Lost your sanity.
Lost a countless friends.
Yes.
Somehow, you know, gosh, dang, you know, one of my best friends was missing both his arms.
And we barely saved his leg.
My dear brother Eddie.
And do you know how bad I wish I could give him one arm at least?
because before he had his prosthetics
I'd have to
you know I help him with his pants
you know
it's very sobering when you're helping
this super warrior
just six months
eight months before
was rack and rolling with his machine gun
and now you have to do his pants
you have to go to the bathroom and stuff
and I said man Eddie I would think
damn wish I could give you one arm
at least I'd be good I'd give you my right on
at least
and that freaking pain of hurt and loss.
And we almost never really take credence and all the blessings you got
and worried about the wrong shit.
And, you know, I got a fucking ulcer with my kids right now because I'm so stressed.
And so, yeah.
So I get me until he can't contribute in the pros.
We get drunk by ourselves and we just let it all hang out.
Or sometimes my kid, my child is next to me in the car.
Yeah.
And I just start to weep.
Yeah.
When they say something, this just fuck rocks me.
That feels good, though.
You know what I'm saying.
My daughter sends me.
I just drop my fucking kid off at college.
I moved my boy into college and I was cool.
Everything was cool.
I was in his dorm room, setting shit.
it up or whatever and my wife was just there and something came over me and I lost it like sobbing uncontrollably
just like because it was like this is such a passage of time I'm with you brother no I feel I feel
well yeah you're excited for him oh that energy's out of the half but it hurts yeah because you
it hurts it fucking hurts you miss it yeah it hurts my son's going through it because I'm leaving a lot
yeah and I had him for a whole month yeah
now he's
he's acting out
but I know it's just because he's he's
missing dad he's so fucking bad
and I can't be there
I can't I've got to make a living
yeah um that you know
that's part of the sacrifice
yeah I can't I got to make a living
100% and um how is your son the 13 or the 16
yeah he'll I think you know
he'll understand that
one day and one day because I
Oh, it's been hard on me, brother.
Because my mom was who she was.
She had to make a living.
She was an incredible mother.
And Kurt was an actor too.
You know, Kurt's my stepdad.
And so, you know, they would have to work and they'd try not to work at the same times.
But sometimes it would happen.
And mom was, you know, she's a fucking movie start doing her thing.
She's got to go do her thing.
And she was the most incredible mother that anyone could have asked for.
Did you remember?
But that sacrifice is what she had to do.
And maybe it hurts in the moment.
But now it's like,
I'm 50 years old and like, oh, shit.
Like, I get it.
Now you see it for what it is.
And you watch her work.
And he's going to watch you work your son and have that respect.
Meaning, like, dad went and fucking did this because to make us better, you know?
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, now you look back and you see, yeah, mommy, you fucking, God fucking bless you, mommy.
Yeah.
I haven't thought of myself as having a mother in probably 35 years.
Yeah.
But I forget that I have mother.
That's crazy.
I have no mother figure.
I did not grow up with sisters and women.
I grew up in the hard freaking streets and in the hard boys' home.
And then yet always know that I'm designed to help and protect people.
And anyone that is smaller needs to be protected because the world's a hard place.
I remember her leaving to Pat Benatar and I wanted to go.
I was up five, I think.
It's crying.
And I never threw a fit before.
For some reason, she had great makeup.
My mom was really, really pretty.
She looks like Faye Dunaway, another.
I want it going on Thorntifit screaming.
I want to go, please, please.
My grandmother was still alive.
And I remember that sadness of seeing her go and being a child.
And the next time, I'm in the boy's home, Mommy, I still called her mommy.
I'm me, I've been a good boy.
All my marks are great.
My grades are great.
I'm undefeated this year in wrestling.
And I have permission to come home for the holidays.
But I can spend, because we get paid 60 cents a job.
So we do earn.
But I could only afford the ticket to go there.
I need the ticket to come back.
And first she's me, her, you know, she's so happy.
She's going to see me again, you know?
And I said, do you think you can pay for the ticket to get back?
This is a fucking bus ticket, by the way.
But by the way, just so the audience understands, it's a fucking bus ticket.
And this was so hard.
But I said, well, can you?
And she said, I think I made it.
And then I think I made a money.
So, well, could you ask, Cousbalinda?
And she goes, I'm not going to ask anybody else for your problem.
And then I guess I started out to cry.
on the phone she said are you fucking crying i said no and it raised any
fucking cry babies better not be fucking crying right then i knew the score
of the world said well that's big nobody's coming to fucking save me that's big so it's
going to be up to you my man yeah now i can cry yeah yeah yeah yeah and
and you know
see my friends
and play with the animals
and yeah yeah I can cry all I fucking want to now
that's great dude
do what I'm saying yeah no this is amazing
you've been sharing so much dude I really appreciate it
I want to end on a light note
yeah
you
I'm not sure you wore underwear
during the show
Yeah, sometimes.
I would talk about it in the barracks.
It was so fucking funny, dude.
Do you see these thick thighs?
These thick thighs save lives, but I get chafed so bad.
The first task we did is we jumped out of the helicopter,
and Rudy's already jumped out.
And I'm the first one out of the chopper of everyone.
And I climb up, and Rudy's fucking jacked,
like a god standing there in his black pants,
and his dick is just fucking.
Oh, good for me.
I love when you have those good circulation days.
Oh, but no, every day was a good circulation.
Well, you're actually, you're exactly right.
You're exactly right.
And you know why?
Because it was so hot and humid.
Because I was, I was noticed.
Normally, normally I'm under stress and everything.
No, that heat, all of the vassal dilation.
And I went to.
Good.
Wow.
Lucky me.
Yeah, lucky you.
This is going to be looked on.
It's going to be talked about on the job.
I was in the barracks.
It was after when we were getting called out to parade.
Like, fine, everyone's all, because you guys were, like, really intense.
And I'm like, okay, you guys, hold on.
We had just, everyone look at Rudy's dick.
You guys are cracking me up.
I was like, everyone's got to look because it's like, I swear to God,
he does not, he doesn't want to run to her.
And it's this, I mean, he's, he's, he's doing pretty well, I'll say that.
Oh, my, my God.
And so everyone, and now you're like, recruit.
And everyone's got, yeah, let's go look at Rudy speaking cock.
We're all running to the fucking parade and we're sticking.
You belligerent bastards.
I, I hear, you belligerent bastards.
Everyone's snickering like because they can't not love it.
Oh, do you remember we don't want me and the boys up top?
Where's your fucking dish?
You know that?
And I'm like, and now I really, you be illicit.
But you know what?
You need that when you're going through hell.
You're going through hell together.
You need you too much.
Yeah.
And that's the context that I want people to understand.
When I do press for this show, I want to talk about that because they're watching 46 minutes,
42 minutes.
I forget that.
It's just cut up and it.
You're right.
It looks intense.
there's no doubt but but they don't quite understand the full context of what we're doing here there
is there are no breaks there is no oh i'm hungry there's nothing you are in the barracks and you have a few
pairs of of fucking fatigues and that's it we're muddy washing our shit we're wet every day
and there is we're shitting next to each other in wooden holes there is it's relentless in the
sense that there's no cutting of camera and here's like
Gatorade. You know what I mean?
And that's what made it special.
And of course, you guys did as well.
I mean, it was just amazing.
Anyway, dude, thank you for coming, man.
This was, this was sick.
My pleasure.
This was so sick.
My pleasure.
