This is an I-Heart podcast.
September is a great time to travel,
especially because it's my birthday in September,
especially internationally.
Because in the past, we've stayed in some pretty awesome Airbnbs in Europe.
Did we've one in France,
we've one in Greece, we've actually won in Italy a couple of years ago.
Anyway, it just made our trip feel extra special.
So if you're heading out this month,
consider hosting your home on Airbnb with the co-host feature.
You can hire someone local to help manage everything.
Find a co-host at Airbnb.ca slash host.
I'm Jorge Ramos.
And I'm Paola Ramos.
Together we're launching The Moment,
a new podcast about what it means to live through a time,
as uncertain as this one.
We sit down with politicians, artists, and activists
to bring you death and analysis from a unique Latino perspective.
The Moment is a space for the conversations
we've been having us father and daughter for years.
Listen to The Moment with Jorge Ramos and Paola Ramos
on the I-Heart Radio app,

I just normally do straight stand-up, but this is a bit different.
What do you get when a true crime producer walks into a comedy club?
Answer, a new podcast called Wisecrack, where a comedian finds himself at the center of a
chilling true crime story.
Does anyone know what show they've come to see?
It's a story.
It's about the scariest night of my life.
This is Wisecrack, available now.

Hi, I'm Kate Hudson.
And my name is Oliver Hudson.
We wanted to do something that highlighted our relationship.
And what it's like to be siblings.
We are a sibling rivalry.
No, no.
Sibling rivalry.
Don't do that with your mouth.
Sibling Revellerie.
That's good.
Oliver, we have two days to Christmas.
Different Christmas.
A very different kind of Christmas for many.
We had some people write in to our sibling revelry.
email talking about a lot talking about Christmas Chronicles with Mom and Pa, which has been
kind of fun because even just as a joke when people say, you know, gosh, your parents, I mean,
what was it like finding out they were Santa and Mrs. Claus, which I love. And I think, you know,
I think they're just really enjoying that. And it's had such success, you know, the Christmas Chronicles.
and now Christmas Chronicles, too, even more than the first one.
So it's so exciting for them.
And it kind of is and has been for our family really fun and has brought more spirit, I think, to the Christmas, just them and that movie and them kind of being in that spirit.
But it is so different.
It's so different.
You know, it's fun.
You know, it's fun is watching the kids react to mom and pa.
and I got to have the experience of sitting at dinner with them
and having two kids be in awe of what they were seeing.
They couldn't believe it.
It was fucking Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.
And it was like, oh, my God.
They're like looking down at the floor.
They couldn't even believe what was going on.
It's so funny.
I let Ronnie watch it for a second.
I wanted to see her reaction and, you know, didn't realize that it takes, you know, about 15 minutes until you see them.
So fast forwarded to pause entrance.
And I thought, Ronnie, I thought I was going to have to take her to the hospital.
I was like, I need to turn this off immediately.
She was so confused.
You know, because we don't let her watch television.
Like the only thing she's watched, the only thing that she's really watched as a movie is Frozen.
and then we have to fast forward like I said through the monsters like she just sees bits so she knows santa we've santa's all around the house we've read books about santa and everything yada yada and um she sees paw and the sleigh and the reindeer and she and it's so like it's a lot of energy right that first scene when you see pa her eyes didn't blink she was
was like holding her blanket like as if it was like she was on a roller coaster you know it was
like she was holding it so tight and you could tell in her face she's like I don't understand
she's like is that howie right so I kind of was like I think this is a bad idea and then I tried
to fast forward a little bit I was like well let's get to mom you know and and and then I fast forward
we're in Santa's village mom's entrance
Mrs. Claus
and the first thing out of Ronnie's mouth
was, go, go!
And it was like she was going to start crying.
I was like, okay, we're turning this off.
We're turning this off.
She's just like so overwhelmed.
Oh, it was so funny.
And so she still hasn't seen it.
No. It's too much.
It'll be four more years until Ronnie can see this.
She just doesn't, it's too freaky.
She's like, what the fuck is happening?
It's like Goggi is Santa
And she felt a little more comfort with Gogo
But then it just freaked her out with the elves
And
Oh, I can imagine
I mean
Oh yeah
You know
It was
Pa's entrance is
Like chasing some yule cat
Like yeah
She's probably like what the hell
But it's been fun
It has given us some
Some
Ugh
Just
Get rid of your dog.
Like, give him to your neighbor or something.
You could, like, visit him.
I have to have a haircut, an outside haircut, but I have to have a haircut because I'm very famous on a television show.
And I have to look good.
But, hey, Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas.
Two days left until our favorite holiday by far.
For so many different reasons.
So excited.
It's different for us this year.
for a lot of people, I mean, for everybody, really.
Our location's different.
We're home.
We're in L.A., which, I mean, we haven't even done.
My kids have never experienced Christmas outside of Colorado.
I do every once in a while.
I do like every other year in L.A.
Just Christmas, the actual Christmas,
just because I've got 100 dads and things.
There's a lot of extended family, if you know what I mean.
Yeah, good name for your book for you.
100 dads and things.
Dads and...
Dads and things.
Yeah, so...
So, yeah, so we spend some Christmases in L.A.
It's actually really nice because the kids can just take their stuff to their room and there's no shipping.
There's no, you know, there's no...
I mean, I'm happy.
I'm happy just to be alive.
Yeah, that's, I think that...
You know, I'm happy to be a lot.
But I will say that I miss, I'm going to miss fucking Colorado.
There's just no doubt about it.
I'm going to miss it.
Yeah.
I feel like I'm having this weird thing.
I don't know.
2021 is going to be interesting.
I'm moving into this like, you know when you've had it of being like, it's like
being a good girl for a really long time.
And then you just are like, fuck it.
I'm going to be a bad girl.
You know?
And you're like, I've been so good.
I've been so like done everything.
I've done the right thing.
And it's just relentless of like,
it's just not going away, this coronavirus and this thing.
And having to, you know, you're in the house.
You're out.
Maybe you go to a restaurant.
You feel a little normal.
And then you're like, oh, sorry, we're closing all the restaurants again.
And then you sit outside and have a drink with a friend.
You're like, oh, my God, this feels somewhat normal.
And then they're like, nope, too bad.
Everybody has the virus.
Bye.
I'm so fucking over it.
I just want to like,
be in denial.
I think this is going to be my year of denial.
The year of denial.
I like it.
You know,
no matter what,
like people are going to say like,
you can't do this and be like,
you know what?
I'm living in denial.
Leave me alone.
Right.
I'm happier here.
Mm-hmm.
I don't want to be responsible anymore.
I just want to be irresponsible.
Yeah.
Oh, I know.
I know.
I know.
And it's becoming the norm.
I mean,
you know,
we adapt as humans and looking at masks now and being in this way it's just it feels normal
there's a normalcy that's happening it hasn't even been a year yet but we're getting we're coming
out of the woods we really are i think that i think that we're hold on hold on i'm going to cue that
with a song um hasn't out of the woods song hold on i'm gonna get my dog yeah i think that's important
Looking at it now
It all seems so simple
We were lying on your car
Is it swift?
Yeah, it is.
I remember.
Here we go.
You took a polaroid of eyes.
Here we go, Ollie.
This is the theme.
songs.
I'm just going to blast that in my recording studio.
Just hear it really loud and cry.
No, but for real, there's a lot of people who are not able to be with their families,
who are, have lost family members.
I mean, it's, it's a lot, there's a lot going on.
I have someone really close to me.
They just lost their brother a week ago.
Oh, no.
To COVID, yeah.
Really, really, really sad.
And, um, he was.
older he had some underlying conditions you know he fit that the the sort of profile of someone who we
have to be really careful for and and he lost his fight is so sad and and they're bittersweet christmas
for sure yeah and i just you know i think that it sort of reminds me of the amanda kloots episode
which is that we have to try to find some, you know, joy.
And even when things are so challenging and terrible and tragic,
we do have to figure out how to heal and move forward.
And I guess it also just brings other things to light,
which is that Christmas, these holidays are really supposed to be about your family.
and like what you're creating together and and that just honestly like they say like here's to you you know when you cheers and you celebrate it's like to a happy and healthy 2021 and like that means more this year than ever it really does it's a good point I mean once this year turns I mean it's arbitrary we've created these dates but it's symbolic and hopefully Jesus was born on Christmas oh yeah remember we had this conference
say she's a while ago you said it was about daylight savings and it was like Jesus's fault or something
I forgot no it's the crops oh it's the crops it was the crops you're like it's arbitrary I'm like no
Oliver Jesus was a real person and he actually was born on December 25th he wasn't born on
December 20th yes he was he was he was born on December 25th it was
the Jesus
Alice, look up when was Jesus' real birthday
Oliver
Here's the thing
Like a Chris Christopherson song
It goes like this
Jesus was a capricorn
He ate organic foods
You know that song?
Mm-hmm
Do you need to hear that one?
You don't know that song
I know what I want to say I do
Because I sound cooler
You do sound cooler if you know
Chris Christopherson's song
Yeah
You want to hear it?
Yeah, I do
give me some
I gave me some
This is my kind of
New Brie
This is my kind of Christmas
I like this
Jesus was a Capricorn
He ate organic foods
He believed in love
and bees
And never wore no shoes
Long hair beard
And sandals
And a funky bunch of friends
I like that's nail him up
The feet come down again
Because everybody's got to have somebody to look down on
Who can't feel better than
I like that
The only problem I have is Jesus had no choice
But to eat organic foods
I mean that's all they have
I know he's not saying it
Like that's what he chose
He's just saying that that's who he was
He was a Capricorn
and he ate organic foods, and he walked around with those shoes.
But everyone ate organic foods.
Yeah, I mean, you know, it's not special.
Yeah, Oliver, but was it certified organic?
Hey, hey, hey, what's your favorite planet?
Liz.
Hey, mine's the son.
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, if the moon was made of cheese, would you eat it?

You know, I think we got that from mom, right?
This, when you hear a phrase and it sparks a song in your head,
you just sing it.
I remember growing up,
and it would be so frustrating to me
because I'd be talking to mom
and I'd say something
and all of a sudden
she'd be singing
a song that was spurned by me
you know what I mean
like you do that all the time
and I do that too with my kids
and they're like dad Jesus
yeah except Ryder does it now
so like Ryder doesn't even say
yeah he just hears his word
and now he starts singing
oh I know
that drove me crazy
you know what happened to me this year
And during the holidays, this is sort of, as this is a holiday episode of just catching up about the year and what, you know, what these next couple weeks is going to look like before the new year, I've realized I haven't listened to as much music as I usually listen to this year.
I think it has something to do with being busy and Zoom schooling and always something happening and being on the phone.
I haven't.
And then I went to this place of like the only place.
that I listen to music right now is either in my bed with my earphones on or in my music studio
where I'm writing and then I listen to things and sometimes I play it really loud just to like get
an idea, you know, and hearing production sounds and stuff like that. But I'm only doing that
when I'm really kind of in that zone. I don't have a room where I listen to music. And so a big
thing that I asked for this Christmas, I told Danny, was I want a real record player because
I used to collect records
until Chris and I divorced
and he took all of them.
It's like the only thing he took.
He got them in the divorce.
I was like, listen, I think it's time
you take your stuff out of the house.
He just went and like, he just took the records.
Like he loved his clothes.
He loved everything but all of our records.
But I don't have that anymore.
I don't have a room where I can listen to my
records.
And I've been collecting them now again.
and they're just sitting in crates.
So I asked for a good record player.
No, no, no.
I got one two years ago.
I asked for the same thing,
why it gave me a technique.
Do you ever use it?
Yeah, but I don't have a room.
No, you don't use it.
I do, it's right here.
What is that?
You hear a beeping?
No.
Is that me?
What's going on?
Maybe it's going away.
This is weird.
Maybe it's like serious tinnitus.
What?
I just had a loud ring in my right ear to the point where it was like,
oh, that's an ambient, that's an ambient sound that's not inside,
but I guess it's inside my head.
You heard it here, folks, on Sibling Revelry.
I'm going insane.
Right, no, well, I think we have already realized this,
but the ringing is what's concerning.
I'm sorry, go ahead.
And then I want real speakers attached to it.
Yeah.
Because there's nothing really, there's nothing better than a loud vinyl.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, I love this.
Yeah, so that's kind of, I'm going to set it up in my office so I can just put a record on and, like, listen to the whole record.
Mm-hmm.
Like, I want to put on Bob Dylan side A, side B, you know?
With weed or not weed?
I mean, either way is good for me.
I don't need weed to enjoy Bob.
No, but it definitely, you can hear things you don't hear.
Speak for yourself, Oliver.
I'm tapped in.
No, you're not.
I'm tapped in.
I'm clear and tapped in, okay?
Clear.
Clear.
Clear.
I'm clear.
I'm clear.
Okay.
What did you ask for for Christmas?
Well, I want a new garage.
Oh, my God.
I don't even know if I got you anything yet.
I know.
I feel like I didn't.
I mean, it's two days before Christmas.
Yeah.
Should we just say that it's not two days before Christmas and we're pretending?
Because we actually did this seven days before.
Let's just be honest.
It's seven days before Christmas, but we're releasing.
It's not.
It's like two weeks before Christmas.
It's two weeks before Christmas.
Let's just, let's keep this in because we need to tell the truth.
No, but transparency.
I have not gotten you anything yet.
You're so hard.
But I always find.
I am so easy.
You're not.
You're not because I always want to do sentiment.
gifts with you. I like getting you jewelry and things that I think of. I don't think
of anything. I'm not, I'm not doing it anymore. I'm getting you like a spatula.
Oh, that like is sentimental. Well, I'll engrave it.
By the way, great present, greatest person ever is that. An engraved spatula.
No, it's a great gift because if you think about it, I mean, I do think about these things.
Sometimes it's kind of weird, maybe a little bit dark. But, you know, when I die,
which I will one day.
The spatula that you give me that is engraved will still be there.
And it will be one of those things that kids will see and they'll look and they go,
oh, remember Christmas 2020 when Uncle Ollie gave this to mom or, you know,
Ollie gave this to Aunt Kate, Dad, you know, whatever, like however, whenever that happens,
which is really sad, actually.
Actually, now that I'm talking about it, I don't know why I'm saying it.
It's too sad.
Oh, hey.
That's not dark.
It's normal to think about that stuff.
I know.
I don't like it.
I don't like it.
I feel like I think about death all the time now.
I'm like, okay, so we're all going to die.
And I guess it makes...
Kate, Kate, this is a Christmas episode.
Oh, sorry.
Jesus, Christ.
Oh, God.
I'm going to cry all Christmas.
Oh, my God.
I know.
No, I...
It doesn't mean anything.
And it doesn't.
Honestly, like, all the presents are fun.
but it's not abnormal to even be thinking and feeling that right now,
given the circumstances that we're all in.
Death permeates right now.
But, yes, but like,
it's two days before Christmas, so people are like, oh, Jesus.
Two days before Christmas.
But what does it mean if it's not fun?
14 days.
What does it all mean if it's not fun?
What does it all mean if it's not fun?
Nothing.
I mean, I don't know what you mean.
You know what I mean?
I don't know what you mean and it's not fun.
But you do know what I mean.
No, I do.
I do.
I get it.
I get it.
It needs to be fun.
Article is all set up in my house.
My article furniture has been built.
I have my outdoor patio furniture.
I have a couple.
I have a couch inside my house.
It is awesome.
It's really, really great.
I've replaced all my outdoor furniture with article furniture.
and it looks incredible and the quality is amazing and it's not very expensive they sort of cover all basis
the thing is is that it's their price point so it's how they get to their price point so you can
buy something that's 150 bucks that's really well made but and then you can buy something that would
normally be 350 bucks you can also buy something that's 900 that would normally be like
two thousand dollars but based on their model and how they've built their business they're getting a lot
of great quality pieces and bringing it to you
at a really good value.
Yeah, it's just beautifully crafted pieces.
They're super durable.
I feel like there's something for everyone
that kind of goes with everything.
But they're sort of Scandinavian boho-y.
They have a bit of an eclect, you know what I mean?
Those sort of mid-century, yeah.
Mid-century vibe, yeah.
You save up to 30% over traditional retail prices.
The way they're able to do this, they cut out the middleman, okay?
And they sell directly to use.
So there's no showrooms, no salespeople, there's no markups.
That's how they're able to keep these costs low with great quality pieces.
Shipping is fast across USA and Canada, and it's free on orders over $999.
All in-stock items are delivered in two weeks or less, which is great, because usually you're waiting
six weeks for shit.
And there's a 30-day return policy
with simple returns and exchanges.
An article is offering our listeners
$50 off your first purchase
of $100 or more.
So go to article.com
slash sibling and the discount will be
automatically applied at checkout.
That's article.com
slash sibling to get $50 off your first
purchase of $100 or more.
Can I be honest?
I'm going to be fucking honest.
I haven't been in the Christmas spirit.
Oh, I said it.
No, I know.
That's what I'm trying to say.
I just said it. I haven't been in the Christmas spirit.
Like we're shopping for each other?
I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
I love going into stores too and being inspired.
You know what I did yesterday?
I went on and this is a great thing.
But of course it's too late now because the episodes airing two days before Christmas.
But I went on.
W.WF
the World Wildlife Fund
and they have these
plush animals and
animal adoptions.
They give you
really cute stuffed animals.
Yeah.
In buckets
and you pay
an exorbitant amount
of money for them
because that money
is actually going towards
donating.
That's the kind of stuff
that's making me happy
this year.
I didn't do any gifts.
What I wanted to do
is donate.
Yeah, mom did a cool thing too.
I'm sure you know.
where she's asking the kids, or I have to ask the kids, like, what are they passionate about?
You know, what are the charities that they would want to do?
They don't need to know the names, but it's like, oh, I want to, you know, I want the ocean to be clean.
I want, you know, I want climate change or whatever it is.
And then mom is going to sort of find an organization and then donate sort of $500 on their behalf.
I think that's a fun.
That's cute.
Gift for the kids.
I love that.
That's fun.
Yeah, that's great.
That's like when I did party favors that were for kids, but it was a charity.
So I gave every kid $10 and we had this wall of different organizations that they could see what they want.
It was like, save the ocean and then it was feeding children and all that.
Well, I just wish and I hope that we could all be together.
I'm not sure that that's going to happen, but we'll see.
I hope so.
This was an odd Christmas talk.
I mean, it was not very uplifting.
I guess that's okay.
Let's just, we don't need to be.
This is just us.
No one's listening.
I think that it's probably what a lot of people are feeling.
There's so many people that are just feeling a little bit.
It just feels a little not fun.
You know what though?
I just, I like the connect.
Christmas is about having a Christmas cocktail with your friends and having a secret Santa.
And you know what I mean?
It's a fun time and people get a two week break.
a lot of with their kids and you know usually people are traveling and experience having an
experience and instead we're going to be in our houses doing the same things that we've been
doing for almost an entire year and and so it just feels a little bit like you know the hope
was that by now everyone we'd all be having a more normal Christmas that's just not where we're
at and and I'm going to say something though I think there's a lot of people who lost their
bonus for Christmas yeah I know they
It is.
My boner went like inside.
I will say this.
This has been a great podcast for me personally because even just talking about it and getting this out there, which I've never even said yet.
Makes you feel better.
I'm sort of bah humbuggy.
I feel good.
Like, I'm ready to go.
I kind of want to put Christmas music on and start drinking right now.
Yeah, I think that's what I'm going to do.
I'm going to do that.
I kind of feel a little bit better.
No bullshit.
But I, no, I feel good.
I swear to God, I'm not even just saying this.
It feels like I'm good now.
I want to participate and get it going.
I want to get on online shop today.
This is good.
That's what I've been doing.
I've been online shopping.
I know.
I'm going to do it.
Hold on.
We really should attempt one Christmas Carol.
Okay.
Just one.
What is it going to be?
What do I know?
What do you know most of the lyrics?
Well, I have my phone right here so I can, I'll know the lyrics.
Silent Night's kind of a downer.
Well, maybe that's appropriate for this episode.
Is it?
