Mr. Sands and his wife, Mona, shared that they are honored to contribute to the betterment
of the Verde Valley and its working population. It's an honor to work with a community-based
organization such as VDoh and we are thrilled to donate this land to a cause that is near
and dear to our hearts, said Mr. Sands. This extraordinary gift from the Sands represents more
than generosity. It is a powerful testament to their belief in our vision and our ability to create
lasting change, said Mark Tuft, Vgo Board Chair. This investment will directly empower us to help
our workforce secure affordable housing. Homeownership that not only leads to increase family
wealth but also to higher educational attainment, better health outcomes, and reduce reliance
on government assistance. Mr. Sands has owned this property for approximately 20 years.
His various holdings in the Verde Valley include properties that now house the Sycamore
Vista Apartments and Verde Valley Medical Center on the Highway 260 from Homestead Parkway to
Finney Flat Road, the Framed Tech Trust Company on Cherry Road and Highway 260, also the property
directly across from the donated acreage that is currently being graded for an RV park.
Through this contribution, the Sands family continues their longstanding commitment to creating
opportunities and improving access to affordable housing for Arizona's working families.
