The Arizona Supreme Court, the state bar of Arizona, and courts in all counties are hosting
statewide ceremonies for legal professionals to celebrate the rule of law. The events in all 15 of
Arizona's counties will occur on Thursday, February 12, 2026. This will also be a celebration of
the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and Abraham Lincoln's birthday.
Arizona legal professionals are encouraged to come and reaffirm their oath. Retaking the oath honors
the commitment to justice and the rule of law. Each county's presiding judge will readminister the oath
of admission to all present. Here in Yavapai County, presiding Judge John Napper will lead the ceremony
on the Yavapai County Superior Courthouse North Steps, 120 South Cortes Street, Prescott, Arizona
at 4 p.m. If inclement weather occurs, the ceremony will be held in the downtown
historic courtroom. The Maricopa County event will take place on the west steps of the state
courts building in Phoenix, where Chief Justice Timor will administer the oath of admission.
You can watch this live. Her remarks will also be replayed by all courts during their ceremonies.
In announcing these events, Chief Justice Timmer said, on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration
of Independence, lawyers across Arizona will come together to renew their oath, a reminder that
the rule of law depends on the daily commitment of those sworn to uphold it. Reaffirming.
that oath on February 12, Lincoln's birthday, honors our nation's founding ideals and our shared
responsibility to serve justice with integrity and respect for the Constitution.
Yavapai County presiding Judge John Napper stated, the Yavapai County Superior Court is honored
to host this event. It is always important to take time to remember why we do what we do.
I encourage all legal professionals to attend and reaffirm their dedication to the rule of law
injustice. The ceremonies are in conjunction with a landmark week across the state and nationally.
Arizona's 113th statehood birthday is February 14th. The February 12th ceremonies share the day with the
birthday of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th U.S. President and an attorney by trade for nearly 25 years.
The statewide events highlight the value of the rule of law. A system where law governs and is
justly and equally applied. Lawyers are the engine that make the system function and are uniquely
positioned to advocate for and protect the rule of law. Catch up with more local news stories on
