The Arizona legislature has recognized Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's centennial
with formal proclamations honoring the university's century of contributions to aviation and aerospace
in the state, across the nation and around the world. The proclamations were read April 14th,
2026, at the Arizona House of Representatives and at the Arizona Senate, with Representative
Quang Wynne and Senator Mark Finchem of Legislative District 1 presenting the recognitions in their
respective chambers. University leadership from the Prescott campus attended the ceremony,
marking a significant milestone in Embry Riddle's 100-year history. This was a momentous occasion
for Embry-Riddle as we celebrated our centennial, said Embry-Riddle President P. Barry Butler,
Ph.D., we are deeply honored by this recognition from the state of Arizona and grateful to the
legislature for highlighting the impact of our Prescott campus. Our students, faculty and alumni,
to shape the future of aviation and aerospace, and we look forward to building on that legacy
in the century ahead. The proclamations recognized Embry-Riddle's origins in 1926 and its evolution
into a global leader in aviation and aerospace education. They highlighted the university's
long-standing commitment to innovation, research and workforce development, as well as its
significant presence in Arizona since the Prescott campus opened in 1978. Today, the Prescott campus
serves more than 3,200 students and is home to the nation's only.
College of Business, Security, and Intelligence, contributing to Arizona's workforce pipeline and
supporting the state's role in aerospace, defense and national security. Having called Prescott
my home for over two decades, I've seen firsthand how Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University has shaped
our community, training the next generation of pilots, engineers and leaders, said win.
Its impact goes beyond the classroom, driving innovation, strengthening our local economy and
inspiring a spirit of service and excellence. The proclamations also sell. The proclamations also
celebrated Embry-Riddle's broader global impact, including its Daytona Beach and worldwide campuses.
The institution serves more than 31,000 students across all three of its campuses, and offers more
than 100-degree program spanning associate to doctoral levels. As Embry-Riddle marks its 100th year,
the university continues to lead in preparing the next generation of aviation and aerospace
professionals, while also strengthening partnerships that drive innovation and economic growth in
Arizona and beyond. I'm proud to celebrate 100 years of achievement and the last
lasting impact Embry-Riddle continues to have right here in Legislative District 1, said Wynne.
