Greetings from Chino Valley Cougar Country.
We Trust your New Year has gotten off to a wonderful and healthy start.
A new year often brings the idea that we should be starting new things, creating new habits,
and resolving to do something.
In Chino Valley Unified School District, our resolution is that we effectively communicate with you about our brand,
meaning what comes to mind when you hear Chino Valley Schools.
As you heard in the late summer issue, the three most important things about our brand are,
Safe Schools. Together mindset. Prepared students. Simply, safe dot together. Prepared. Those are the things
we want you to think about when you hear our name. So, why are these the most important things about our
schools? Safe, if parents don't feel that their children are safely in our care, they will choose to send them
elsewhere. If students don't feel safe in our care, they won't be ready to learn. On each of our
campuses, we have wonderful, highly trained school safety officers, whose job is to keep kids safe.
Michael Colgrove at Territorial Early Childhood Center spends his days greeting parents, kids, and
visitors. He also continuously walks the campus and talks with kids, helping them to develop a
positive relationship with someone who looks out for them. The same is true of Matt Groneck,
who can also often be seen on the playground at Del Rio School,
tossing a baseball, and encouraging kids to do their best.
At Heritage Middle School, CVPD sworn officer, Hector Torres,
greets students and parents each day, establishing a presence of protection.
Finally, at Chino Valley High School,
CVPD officer Josh Notin, works to ensure that kids feel safe,
have someone to talk to, and that they know they can go to Officer Notin with questions and problems.
Of course, there are many other things that help us ensure safe learning environment,
perimeter fencing, safety drills, and consistently applied rules. We encourage parents to watch
this spring for notifications about our new Safe Schools notification app called Share 9-11. You will soon
learn how you can download and sign into this app to receive up to the minute notifications
regarding safety at your child's school. Together, today's schools are so much more than the schools
of our childhood because our children and our collective future have new challenges. We live in a
world where it has been increasingly challenging to exercise rugged individualism and independence,
and I can do it myself mindset. We are squarely in the middle of a new, yet historic, paradigm,
we can do it. If Rosie the Riveter was the first thing that came to mind, you may be older than
dirt, ha ha, but truthfully, our country is now where it was nearly 85 years ago. We are in an era
where we will only be successful if we work together for the good of our children and our future.
This year, the employees in Chaos have focused, with great intentionally, on working together.
In the face of faltering enrollment, we have had new challenges to solve, and we are shoulder to
shoulder, taking these on and improving our services to our children and families.
As we roll into the summer and fall, we will be expanding our together to include you.
Our community members, the folks who are new to Chino, the folks who have lived here for generations,
and our parents, you will be purposefully included in our together because it is the only way we can ensure that our local
public schools stay strong and live up to the standards of our community. A solid, high quality,
free public education preserves democracy. Prepared, preparing students to successfully transition
to society is self-supporting, productive contributors, is why we exist. We believe that all
students need skills to make them workforce ready, the ability to read well, the ability to compute,
the ability to communicate verbally and in writing, the ability to discern between authentic
facts and opinions. Kids must be ready to pursue more education and
and be ready to enter the workforce.
Believe it or not, in chaos,
career education begins in preschool
where children can play and dress up clothes
that are career-oriented,
a hard hat, a firefighter coat,
a doctor jacket, and so much more.
In early childhood, they read and are read to
from books about careers.
In middle school, they begin classes in robotics,
unmanned aircraft, and woodshop.
They take many career courses at Yavapai College.
And in high school,
in partnership with Mountain Institute in Yavapai College,
They have 28 plus career clusters to choose from,
programs where they earn college credit and earn the skills and certifications
to enter the workforce and jobs that bring a living wage.
So, who is Chino Valley?
We are the place where children are safe.
We are the place where each individual works together for the good of the whole.
We are the place where children are prepared to meet the future.
Please join our together.
Let's create optimism.
Let's celebrate the changing role of schools.
It's good for all of us.
