The inspiring work and kindness of Russell Smith, an environmental services technician at Dignity
Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center, YRMC, has earned him the 2024 CAPE Award,
cleaning to advance the patient experience.
This national award is presented by Cintas, a corporation supporting organizations across the country
with products and services to advance cleaning, safety, and compliance training.
There are only 10 winners selected in the U.S. out of nearly 800 nominations.
A colleague nominated Russell for the National Award, and his commitment to a safe
patient experience earned him the prestigious recognition.
Sintas representatives came to YRMC to present Russell with the award and congratulate the
entire EVS team at the hospital.
Coming to work every day, doing my job to the best of my ability, and being kind and courteous to
everyone is what I believe helped me earn this reward, said Russell. Not all superheroes wear
capes. Russell has been on the front lines of health care for over a year and a half and says,
giving your all results in everyone working together, thus providing top quality service to our patients.
Our team knows this is something that is not awarded easily, said Diana Kinnaman, YRMC Environmental
Services Supervisor. Russell has a great work ethic and is just an all-around wonderful human being.
Our team and organization are lucky to have him.
