The Prescott Valley Police Department, Prescott Police Department, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office,
Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority, CAFMA, and the Prescott Fire Department joined forces this
summer to honor Sergeant Rick Lopez with a two-day blood drive-through Vitalant.
Together, alongside the community, 81 people donated blood, including 23 first-time donors who
began their lifelong journey saving lives. With each donation holding the potential to save up to
three lives, these combined efforts will make a lasting impact. This drive has the potential to
save up to 142 lives. Friendly competition added momentum to the initiative, with the Prescott Valley
Police Department taking home first place with 24 donations, followed by the Yavapai County Sheriff's
Office at 19, and the Prescott Police Department at 14. While the traveling trophy may be in law
enforcement hands this round, CAFMA and the Prescott Fire Department are already looking to bring it
home when the Blood Drive returns in December. The Sergeant Rick Lopez Memorial Blood Drive honors
the life and legacy of Sergeant Lopez by bringing together first responders and community members
to give the gift of life. This twice yearly event serves as a lasting tribute to Sergeant Lopez's
commitment to serving others. A special thank you to Vitalant for partnering with us to make this event
possible and for their continued commitment to collecting lifesaving donations. A heartfelt, thank you
to Logan Roberts, who originally launched this blood drive. We genuinely appreciate everyone who
rolled up a sleeve, volunteered, or supported the event. Your efforts made a difference.
