The Flagstaff City Council adopted the tentative budget for the 2027 fiscal year, FY27, during the June 2nd Council meeting.

city employees, the city's 10-year housing plan, and the carbon neutrality plan. The FY27 budget
includes over $324 million for capital improvement projects, provided by a mix of grants,
taxes, and bond funding. Specific capital projects scheduled for FY27 include
Flood mitigation at Fanning Wash
Reconstruction of Ponderosa Park
Construction of a new regional wildland fire station. Road improvements throughout
the city. Construction of the downtown mile project. Acquisition of land for the Flagstaff Urban
Trail System, FUTS, and Open Space. Improvements to Water Services Infrastructure. Investment in
affordable housing and public housing redevelopment. The city managers recommended budget proposes an
increase to the primary property tax rate, which is offset by a decrease to the secondary
property tax rate. The additional revenue generated by the primary property tax increase will be
designated to ongoing fire and police operations. The recommended budget also includes funds generated
by the bed, board, and beverage, BBB, tax, which was renewed by voter approval in November
24 and supports arts and sciences, economic development, beautification, tourism, and parks and
recreation. Each year, the city's annual budget is created through a series of public discussions with
the city council to identify priorities and goals. Throughout multiple budget retreats and council work sessions in
2025 and 26, council members and the public received updates on city revenues, available resources,
fixed costs, and emerging needs. The final budget is scheduled for adoption at the June 16th council
meeting. For more information, view the FY27 tentative budget document online. For related questions,
