You know, people talk about land planning and, you know, we claim that we're planning downtown Prescott Valley.
And so they're making jokes about that.
But it's like, well, we have a plan.
And the plan starts the process.
Yep.
It's the process we're in so that we can engage and get public input, get staff.
You can't walk in the door.
You can't walk in the door and say, I want to take that piece of property and I want to zone it XYZ.
The staff will look at you and say, well, we'd like to see your plan.
Absolutely.
Absolutely. So everybody that owns a piece of land, no matter where they are, that they want to put something on, they're a planner. They're part of planning because they're going to go tell the jurisdiction that they're in what they'd like to do and get permits. And permits are permission.
They're basically going to try to go get permission from the public body to allow them to do what they want to do.
Permission to execute on your plan.
And then there's a little bit of dialogue that takes place. And sometimes they agree exactly. And sometimes they don't. You go through a process.
You got to make modification.
Sometimes you've got to make a modification to it, but that is the working out.
That's the goal.
Like Prescott Valley had an amazing history of growing and doing a wonderful job of growing for like 50 years.
And I think a big part of it was because people work together.
I mean, public sector, private sector, citizens, they all work together.
There wasn't this, everything's a conspiracy.
Somebody's trying to get something here.
It was like, no, we work together.
And is it perfect?
No, we've made plenty of mistakes.
I've made mistakes.
And so I don't think you can look at that and say, well, you've made mistakes.
Like, yeah, that's part of the process.
Well, you bring up a good point on the planning side.
And we are hosting Signature Series is hosting the land we share, which is on May, in May the 20th.
We will have the land we share over in Prescott.
And we're going to have experts that control.
to the planning process on how you plan land, both from a county perspective, from a local
community perspective, also from a regional transportation perspective, an open space perspective,
a wildlife, land conservation. There's a lot of talented people out there that all contribute
towards planning a region, planning this area that we all share and we all call home.
And to have no plan really is a plan, it's called.
wildcat subdivisions that just happen. People buy two acres or five acres and build a house
and somebody buys next to them. There's no thought put into it other than somebody's just selling
land and they're doing it. And you end up with, you know, less amenities. You end up with less
wildlife corridors. You end up with less open space. And so that is a choice that people need
to take. We believe that a well thought out plan engaging experts to help us is a better
approach than the not. Right. Yeah, if you're, if you're interested and want to learn more about
how the whole planning process works, because there's lots of people involved. Go to signature
series. Go to the signature series. Come out. It's open. It's open to the public. It's a, it's a free event.
We only ask that you register so that if you want to come, that we'll have a chair for you.
Otherwise, you know, the last time we had, we had about 160, 165 people show up at the last
event, the missing middle. I think we'll have a good crowd.
for the next on on the land where's it located at you said it's may 20th uh may 20th or it's i think it's
the may 20th um it starts at 3 30 p.m it's on the center on roster street in prescott
we can handle up to well i'm looking for 150 160 people we can take up to 200 we got a great
group of people that are going to be their panelists speaking uh professional panelists that
this is what they do for a living all day long for the private sector for the public sector
and just experts that that are always thinking from a different point of view,
but all contribute towards the future and how communities turn out.
Good.
Make sure you guys go out and see the signature series.
