The Justin Boot Award, also known as the John Justin Standard of the West,
is a prestigious honor that recognizes a Prescott Frontier Days Committee member in good standing
and who delivers remarkable, solid results beyond expectations.
The recipient receives a custom design set of Justin Boots,
and their name will then appear on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association,
PRCA, year-end ballot for the Justin Committee Man of the Year Award.
PFD Director Brett Mills, a critical team member, ably meets these criteria and it's an honor
to recognize his many contributions to the rodeo. He is always one of the first people to show up,
helping out with the most menial of tasks as well as handling complex financial statements and
dealing with multiple agencies and organizations. As part of his responsibilities overseeing
finance, hospitality, and security, Brett shared some key updates and improvements in each of
these areas. Finance, thanks to the efforts of Finance Office Manager Jason Owens, the data entry
required for PFD to compile flash report information has been completed. These reports provide
timely performance metrics within hours of each event's conclusion. This allows management and staff
to make proactive, data-driven decisions rather than reacting after the fact. Hospitality,
our hospitality team serves between 300 to 500 meals per day to our volunteers, staff, and
contestants. This year, thanks to a generous donation from TDK comfort systems of Chino Valley,
an air conditioning unit was installed in the hospitality prep room. This upgrade significantly
improved working conditions, helping to keep our volunteers cooler and happier. Security,
the safety of our guests, volunteers, contestants, and vendors is a top priority for the board
of directors and general manager Jim Dewey Brown. This year, our security team, in collaboration with
the Arizona Rangers and local law enforcement, conducted a comprehensive threat assessment
across the entire Prescott Frontier Days campus. Several areas of vulnerability were identified and
addressed. Steps have already been taken, and continue to be implemented, to ensure a safe and
secure environment for everyone attending and participating in the world's oldest rodeo.
Congratulations, Brett, on receiving a well-deserved award. Your love of the rodeo is evident
in everything you do. You continue to demonstrate the we rodeo, we give model,
and Prescott Frontier Days is all the better for your efforts.
