Hey everyone, June 23rd. This is Mondays with the mayor. Been gone for a couple weeks, but here we are back at it again. We got some things to talk about. First off, and just so we all know, totally random how we're going to talk about these things. So just be prepared. We're hiring a neighborhood service director. If you'd like to know more information, check out the website. You can also apply online. Deadline is July 3rd. So if that's in your wheelhouse or you know someone that would benefit or is qualified, check out neighborhood services. We'd love to have you a part of the team.
We have Glassford Dell's Regional Park Survey.
It is open and online.
So if you go on, you check out the different amenities that are being proposed for the park.
Hopefully this is the last survey for the park, and it is open until July 18th.
Would love to hear from you.
Go to our website.
There's actually, you can't miss it.
Click on the link.
It takes about five, six minutes to answer the question.
So again, Glassford-Dells Regional Park Survey.
We want to hear from you.
Hear what your thoughts are on what should or should not go over by Glassford Hill.
One of the things we talk about, kind of like the hometown heroes banner, how we're recognizing
veterans and honoring them and their service here in Prescott Valley, we're bringing together a
Freedom Rock for here at Presby Valley at the campus. So if you want more information, go online
about that, but we'd love to talk to you. Just message us here, message me on my mayor's
Facebook page, learn how you can help, how you can donate, and what you can contribute to the
team. So again, Freedom Rock, you're not sure what it is. Just Google Freedom Rock. It's a very, very
big in Iowa. We're hoping to have one here, the only one in Arizona. So excited about that.
What else we got going on next Friday? Of course, 4th of July, red, white, boom. Starts at 3,
ends at 9. We're going to have craft vendors, carnival rides, the bounce houses, all the fun stuff.
We always have musical performances. It's going to be a great time. We have, you're able to set
up an easy up between the police department and town hall for free. Just got a first come for a serve.
Just show up, claim your space, and that's where you live for the day.
So check that out.
And also check the website for road closures.
There are going to be some changes.
Obviously, we have to accommodate the thousands of people that will be showing up and where they're going to park.
So check on that before you show up.
Again, there's a link and a map on site.
And we'll have postings on our Facebook page as well.
Going from 4th of July to this Saturday, we have a cornhole tournament at Mount Valley Park, 4 p.m.
It's $20 per team.
We have different levels of basically,
skill so you can let them know when you sign up. You can also sign up online with Parks and Rec.
Again, this Saturday, 4 p.m. Mount Valley Park, Cornhole Tournament. This is a little bit off,
but it fills up fast. The Citizens Academy is accepting applications. Deadline for the Citizens
Academy is August 15th. And then we also have a Citizens Police Academy, and the deadline for that
is August 6. As I mentioned, it fills up every time and there's always a wait list. So please,
if you're interested, don't wait until the end.
Fill out your application, turn it in now, at least get on the list.
And if something changes with your plans, you can always let staff know, there'll be someone in line to take your place.
So again, Citizen Academy, police recovery.
What do we got going on?
Wildman Phil, this Wednesday, he's a wildlife comedian, okay?
So this Wednesday, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. over at the library, he brings some animals, tell some jokes.
Kids love them.
Again, free event.
Wednesday there's a show at 1 p.m. and then the same show at 3 p.m. Go over to the library, check out the website for details on how to get tickets and look forward to it. It's a really great time. He's a he actually is a really funny guy. Great information. Kids love him.
And finally, hey shout out to the twins. My twins. It's their birthday. They turned 10 today. Emma and Memphis. I'm sure you've seen them out and about.
Very special day for them. Very proud of them. Love them very much. So happy birthday. Emma and Memphis.
And here we are, folks.
This is our dad joke, not a bad joke.
What did the pig say on a hot summer day?
Said, I'm bacon.
Folks, have a great week.
Enjoy your time.
Walk around with a smile.
We'll see you next week.
