Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, everyone, June 30th, and this is Mondays with the mayor. Notice the cowboy hat. Rodeo Week starts this week. And I just want to just throw a disclaimer out there first, okay? I am truly the definition of a fake cowboy, all right? I've never worn this hat other than for dancing for the stars. I do kind of wear the shirts once in a while, but that's it. I love country music, but so don't be all, you're not a real cowboy.
Starting point is 00:00:22 I agree. I am not. But I love Rodeo Week. Why? Because it brings out the best in the community, right? We have people coming from all over. and it's just a great opportunity for families and friends to create memories. So with that being said, we are going to have a lot more traffic on our roads,
Starting point is 00:00:36 in our businesses, in our stores, and our restaurants. So just be a little patient. It's good for our store owners and it's good for our economy. So again, this week, rodeo week, looking forward to it. With that being said, we all know 4th of July is this Friday. So if you couldn't figure it out town offices, library, they will be closed on the 4th of July. Why you say? Because one is the 4th of July, but we are having red, white, and boom happening here at the, basically the Civic Center. We have overflow over at Bob Edwards Park, if you don't like the crowds here at the Civic Center.
Starting point is 00:01:08 And also at the Finley Toyota Center parking lot, you can bring your RVs set up, have cornhole, barbecue, do whatever you want to do, have a great time out there. And you're literally underneath the fireworks. Probably the best place in Northern Arizona's watching fireworks. So the Civic Center parking lot will be closed on Thursday, July 3rd. parking will be available at the police department and over at the library and then handicap parking spots will also be accessible. So Civic Center parking lot will be closed the day before Thursday, July 3rd. So again, red, white and boom, Friday kicking off at 3 p.m. Fireworks at 9th. What do we do last week? Council passed our budget, $221 million.
Starting point is 00:01:50 And if you want to know more about the budget and basically literally see how every dollar and penny is spent go to our website click on government tab then go down to transparency portal and then we have a thing called open go through it and line by line it'll show what our money your money everyone's money is being spent on so remember website go to government transparency portal opengov.com check out we got july 22nd k9 demo always fun finley toyota center 6 p.m open to the public free. There'll be canine teams from all across Arizona will show up and it's really an awesome time to see what these canines and their handlers can do. And it's brought to you by Arizona law enforcement canine association. So check that out. Also what we got going on over at the library, this is kind of a chill week. Crayon scavenger hunt, July 2nd from 9 to 6 over at the library, bring the littles to the kids section. And they have a whole little setup for little people to go around and find Grayons. How fun is that? And with that being said, we're kicking off this Thursday. It's going to be Thursday treasure hunt, all right? So bear with me. We're still working out the details a little bit,
Starting point is 00:03:05 but we're going to be boasting a clue, and then you're going to see it on my page and then kind of basically go out throughout the town, find that location, find the treasure. There'll be some information in there, and you can win some prizes. So good way to get out of the house, see if you can figure out some riddles and go from there. So again, folks, have a great week, and hopefully I see you out there on the fourth. And with that being said, almost got away without my dad joke. What do you call a bull with a sense of humor? It's a laughing sock. Of course you do.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Folks, see you out there.
