Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey, everyone, November 18th, and this is Mondays with the Mayor. Hope you had an amazing weekend and are ready to kick off this week like Gangbusters. So let's just dive right into what we got going on. First off, starting tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday, the 18th to the 20th. Glassford Hill at Highway 69 will be closed because we are finishing up the arch that is there. They're going to be adding the lighting, putting the logos on, as well as fixing the visibility issue of the letters. So please keep that in mind. The time is from 8 to 5.5.
Starting point is 00:00:30 30. So just find an alternate route. I'm sure if anyone's lived here longer than a day, you can figure out a different way to get to the highway or get back to Glassford Hill. So again, 18th to the 20th, Glassford Hill, Highway 6,9, closed. What we got going on? Saturday, December 7th from 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock is our winter spectacular. It's a great event, folks. It happens right out here at Theater on the Green in between the police department and town hall. We have a lot of great things. We'll have food trucks, performances, tree lighting, the light parade, and a bunch of other things to do for the kids. Of course, the event is entirely free, and we hope to see you out there. Again, Saturday,
Starting point is 00:01:05 December 7th, from 2 to 8. And then with the weather coming up, we thought we'd throw this out there as just a little information to help prevent frozen pipes at your house. Open your cabinet doors to circulate the warmer air, set your home temperature above 55 degrees, and then call a plumber if you need to just check out your system and get it fully insulated. So if you've had your pipe trees up in the past. These are just some tips to help you out this win this weekend. We also actually last couple weeks, we had Joe Coy, the comedian over at the Finley Toyota Center, an amazing performance. He gave Presque Valley quite a few shoutouts on his page and we've got a lot of great comments for people that
Starting point is 00:01:46 visited us from outside the area. That's awesome. And then just on Saturday night, we hosted the Grand Canyon University and the University of Arizona Division I hockey game. And that was a sell out. Everyone was raving about it. People were wearing their sundog jerseys and it was an awesome environment. So hopefully folks, by showing up to events like that, fingers crossed, we can get a similar sundog hockey team to come to our area. So thanks to everyone that came out. And I'm finishing it up with this is a pedal forward call to action. So basically there's a nonprofit pedal forward brought together by CNC cyclery over off of Navajo. And basically what their mission is is to transform people in need into people who succeed by providing bikes to underdeserved community,
Starting point is 00:02:33 underdeserved community facilitating access to education, employment, inclusive opportunities, and recreation for all ages and backgrounds. So if you have a lightly used bike, some equipment, some tires, things like that, they'll take them in as donations. They'll fix them up, and then they'll get them to people that need bikes and children that need bikes. So it's just a great opportunity. If you're not using your bike, let someone else use it who may not be fortunate enough to own their own. So you can check them out at their email is info at petelforwardink.org. And they also have a website, which is the same, pedal forward inc.org.
Starting point is 00:03:10 And then you can swing by, like I said, CNC cyclery. They'd be happy to talk to you a little bit further. So this is our opportunity for Mondays with the mayor to just highlight a nonprofit and what they're doing here in our community. So folks, we're finishing it up. It's a dad joke. not a bad joke. When should you take a cookie to the doctor? When it feels crummy. Hey guys. Hope you have a great week. See ya after.
