Prescott Frontier Days, PFD, members are known for their care of each other and are rallying
by holding a raffle to help Summer Logan recover thousands of dollars' worth of photography equipment
that was ruined during a recent rodeo.
Summer is the rodeo office assistant whose invaluable work makes visitors feel welcome and helps
the rodeo run smoothly.
On a more positive note, after two years of hard work, Summer obtained her professional
Rodeo Cowboys Association, PRCA, card, making her PFD's first PRCA carded photographer.
It takes about two years to obtain a PRCA card, and the stringent list of requirements includes
a letter of recommendation from an NFR member, submitting a portfolio of 20 photos for review,
getting a PRCA permit, and shooting five more rodeos, then undergoing an evaluation inside an arena
with livestock to ensure safety and understanding of working with livestock.
Further evaluation is required by the board for the PRCA
media department until the final determination is made. Summer has worked for jobs to afford the
traveling expenses, hotel rooms, and other costs in pursuit of the PRCA card and recovering the
photography equipment. Raffle particulars First prize, 1959 Ruger Mark I, point two two LR semi-automatic
