Smokey himself will be there to greet fans. There will also be birthday cake, and stickers activities
for kids. Smokey Bear is one of the most enduring and recognizable symbols of wildfire prevention in the
United States. He was created in 1944 by the U.S. Forest Service and the Ad Council as part of a
campaign to educate the public about the dangers of forest fires. His famous catchphrase,
Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires, later updated to Only You Can Prevent Wildfires, has become a
part of American culture and is widely associated with personal responsibility in protecting
the environment. The character was inspired in part by the increased risk of wildfires during
World War II, when many firefighters were serving overseas and forests needed to be protected
more than ever. Smoky's message continues to be important today, as human activity is
responsible for nearly 90% of wildfires. Through education and awareness, Smoky Bear encourages
people to be mindful of their actions when camping, burning debris, or using fire in any
outdoor setting. His legacy has helped reduce wildfire incidents and protect public lands for generations.
