The 28th annual Prescott Indian Art Market, PIAM, wrapped up a highly successful two-day run at Charlotte Hall Museum on September 19th and 20th,
welcoming an enthusiastic turnout of collectors, families, and art lovers. The juriesed art show
celebrated the work of Native American artists across seven categories, culminating in the announcement
of this year's award winners. Raymond Chee, Sr. earned the events top honor,
festive show, for his large and detailed carving depicting a World War II Navajo Code Talker.
The weekend brought steady crowds to the museum grounds, where visitors browsed booths,
met artists, and purchased original work spanning traditional and contemporary styles.
Organizers described the response from both attendees and participating artists as one of the
most energetic in recent years. Award winners were selected in each category as follows.
Inwood carving, Raymond Chee, Sr. took first place, Earl Dino Patterson placed second.
and Raynard Lalo finished third. In diverse arts, Keith Torres claimed first place,
with Rosie Yellowhair earning both second and third place. In jewelry, Kyle Lee Anderson won
first place, Trent Lee Anderson placed second, and Jake Livingston took third. In pottery and
ceramics, Dorothy M.E. earned first place, Delmer Polaka placed second, and Doris John finished third.
In sculpture, Sage LaFountain took first place, Randall placed second, and Tim Washburn earned third.
In traditional arts, Jefferson Bonali swept the category, capturing first, second, and third place.
In two-dimensional art, Rubin Richards won first place, Al Bay placed second, and Benson Hallwood finished third.
The judges also recognized four artists with judges' choice honors, Jessica Lomitwama, Basketry, Randall Beale, Sculpture, Tim Washburn, Sculpture, and Janet Yazi, painting.
Organizers extended there thanks to the artists, judges, volunteers, and visitors who made the 28th show a memorable event, and they look forward to welcoming the community back next year.
