April is National Volunteer Month, and the Prescott National Forest is recognizing the outstanding
contributions of the 1,219 volunteers who supported the forest in 2025.
Volunteers contributed 43,955.255.255 hours of service last year.
Volunteers support spanned a wide range of essential work, including watershed improvements and
stewardship projects, fish and wildlife monitoring and habitat restoration, customer service at
recreation sites and offices, heritage site monitoring, wilderness and non-wilderness trail
maintenance and construction, and recreation site maintenance. These efforts significantly
enhance the forest's ability to care for the land and serve the public. National Volunteer Month
highlights the impact of volunteer service across the USDA Forest Service, where volunteers of
all ages and backgrounds contribute to nearly every program area. The Prescott National Forest
extends its sincere appreciation to all who donate their time, skills, and passion to public lands
in the Verde Valley and Prescott communities. Individuals interested in volunteering with the Prescott
National Forest may contact Nina Hubbard, volunteer, and partnership coordinator, at nina.hubbard
at usda.gov. Learn who else is making a difference in the Quad Cities with more stories
