Following community feedback that a new recreation facility is a priority,
the Prescott Valley Town Council established the Citizens Recreation Facility Advisory Committee
to Research Options for Enhance Recreational Amenities.
The Towns Committee is suggesting funding the project through a new tax.
Established to address the community's strong interest in a new recreation facility,
the committee has been meeting since April 2025 to develop a two-part plan,
defining what the community wants and determining how to fund it. The committee concluded its work in
August, recommending that any future recreational facility includes seven key amenities. Indoor pool.
Gymnasium. Wights in conditioning space. Part-time child watch, two-hour limit.
Group exercise studio. Multi-purpose rooms. Indoor track. The committee also recommended that the project be
funded through a bond initiative. This would be supported by a dedicated funding source, such as sales
tax. Others are asking why not the YMCA that is less costly and funded privately? The committee
delivered its report in a special study session to the Prescott Valley Town Council on September 18,
2025. This session can be viewed on the town's YouTube channel at www.com slash Prescott Valley
The Town Council will now review this recommendation to decide on the next steps.
This topic is currently scheduled to be discussed at the November 6th Council Study session,
which will occur at 3 p.m. in the library auditorium, 7,401 East Scoob Boulevard,
and or can be viewed on the town's YouTube channel www.com slash Prescott Valley 1.
