Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey everybody. Welcome back to Signals News podcast. Today, I have Shauna from Shauna Sugar Shack. Hello. That is like Suzy sells cheese. Say it 10 times fast. Can't even. You, okay, so ice cream, donuts, every cakes, but you do something a little different. You combine all of those things. Yes. We do WordPress Scott's Premier customizable dessert bar. Awesome. So I can say I want this donut, but put this ice cream in the middle to fry them too. Yep, we bake them up. So we do only have one flavor of our donut, which is from the local donut maker outlaw, and it's what they stuff their Bavarian cream with or their lemon, and then you pick your flavors of ice cream instead. And then we warm it up and we can do powdered sugar on top or jura deli chocolate, caramel or white chocolate. So it's a little bit of warm, a little bit of cold. It's a good year-round dessert. I was going to say, so even at Christmas, you know, and everything's, you know, freezing outside, you can still like. Yes.
Starting point is 00:01:00 Sit down. Yes. Warm donut and a cup of coffee because we do serve coffee as well. Oh, my gosh. So it says here you've got 12 premium small batch ice cream flavors. You do, let's see. Oh, create a flavor flight. What is that?
Starting point is 00:01:13 So our flavor flight is three. That's another one to say fast. Are three different flavors that are set apart from each other so that you don't have to do it in one cup where they're kind of all, you know, melting on top of each other. It's for our, you know, ice cream connoisseurs that want to get the full palette taste of whatever flavor they're trying. I like that because it was when I was a little girl, we'd go down Main Street and it was like they had, this is in California, they had the thrifties on the corner. And so I would always do my chocolate on the bottom because I wanted to finish with the chocolate and the rainbow sherbet on top. But this way you can, because I didn't want it mix it.
Starting point is 00:01:50 Yeah. Exactly. And if you still want it in a cup because it does really come in a long, you know, flight where it's scoop next to scoop next to scoop. but if someone just does want to pile them up on top of each other and let them become a melting pot of ice cream soup, you can, you also have that availability. And you guys do floats with, it's funny because yesterday I saw one of the stores where we ran had orange crush on the fountain. And my husband goes, that's perfect with vanilla ice cream. And he goes, almost as good as a root bear float. You do Dr. Pepper, too.
Starting point is 00:02:18 We do. We do. And some of the flavors you'll get without vanilla, one of our really popular flavors is jacked up Tennessee toffee, which is like a vanilla. based ice cream with the sweet whiskey sauce in it and pieces of heat. And if you mix that with the orange soda, it's really, really good. We have some regulars that come in and that's their favorite float to do. Yeah. Get their little side hustle there. So you've got some really cool stuff that I'm seeing that nobody else is doing it. I mean, the ice cream donut is just insane. Where are you located? So we're located in Old Firehouse Plaza, which is next to the five-story parking structure.
Starting point is 00:02:56 We're on the interior of the courtyard. So there's only a couple businesses you see from the main street. But there's a cute little plaza in their courtyard plaza where you can actually sit outside, get some sun or some shade while you enjoy your meal. That's a tough spot. It is a tough spot. Because you've got, I mean, if you look at the square, you've got the square, which that's everybody's stop. You know, if I'm driving all the way to Prescott, I'm going to go through the square. I see firehouse and it's like, oh, that's way over there.
Starting point is 00:03:24 this would make me park the car and go inside. I'm assuming letting people know you're there is probably your biggest obstacle. Yes. Just reminding people that and you're not just an ice cream shop. No, no. We sell our, we have eight different flavors of cookies from s'mores, red velvet. We have a salted caramel heath that's out of this world, a birthday cake cookie. So we have eight flavors.
Starting point is 00:03:49 We sell our baked goods by the individual half dozen and dozen. But the best thing we do is build either a Sunday. with a cookie or brownie base or we do a, we can do a brownie ice cream sandwich or a cookie ice cream sandwich or a cookie brownie ice cream sandwich. And it's, again, all customizable. You pick the bases of those 16 different flavors of cookies and brownies and then your ice cream. Have me at brownie. And we have an Oreo Blondie that's out of this world, too, if you're not into a chocolate brownie. Lemon bars that are amazing. This also on here, you've got a beautiful website, but this also looks like raw cookie dough.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Yes, we do have edible cookie dough that has got the. the egg removed so that it's safe. I know a lot of people will say they'd rather have the egg, but the health department does not. Unfortunately, we cannot make it the way mom used to make it in the kitchen and be able to eat it, but it's still very tasty. And we all survived. Remember that? Yeah, that's what everyone says. We're all still kicking, right? We all lived on that regular dough, and I would do it if I could. It was the garden hose water that saved our lives probably. Yeah, we have a Reese's peanut butter cup one, or Reese's pieces. We have a brownie batter, and then we have our birthday cake and your traditional chocolate chunk edible dough.
Starting point is 00:04:54 And we actually also make dog treats organic with pumpkin and oats and puree. Pumpkin puree? I said that already. If your dog needs a sweet treat as well, we have those that are made fresh as well. Well, and that's good for them too. The pumpkin puree. Oh, peanut butter. That's right.
Starting point is 00:05:12 I got my peas mixed up. So it's pumpkin peanut butter and oat and they're really good. You like to do a lot of things that pumpkin peanut butter. Yes. I was trying to keep all the peas together for the pups. What could we do for the pups? And we do pup cups as well. So we'll do the whipped cream if you bring your dog in because we are advocates for animals.
Starting point is 00:05:30 We love animals. I have a lot of rescue animals myself. My gosh. I have a three-legged dog that just loved that storm last night. And my granddaughter got him and said, who will ever love this dog with three legs if we don't take him? And then they had to get rid of them. It looks like grandma. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Nanny is going to love the three-like-a-tong. So you were a little girl and you said, this is what I'm going to do. I want to make ice cream. No. No. I've actually been in construction since I could walk. My dad's a custom home builder. I've been on job sites my whole life.
Starting point is 00:06:01 So I got licensed in general construction and doing real estate for most of my life. I've owned a few businesses. I opened this business because my grandma had passed away. And I just remember some of the happiest times were making caramel apples with her in the kitchen during a Halloween season. And just every time my sister and I would go over there, she'd be baking something. And it was just, it didn't matter what was going on at school
Starting point is 00:06:23 or what was going on home life, mom and dad, or anything like that. It was just the best way to lift the spirits. So when she passed away, I wanted to find a way to honor her memory and have people have that same feeling when they walked into our shop. It's a cute shop too.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Thank you. You went above and beyond on that one. And then in the beginning, your mom kind of helped with step too. Yeah, my mom was, and a lot of people do know her that were coming in. It really helped get her past how she was doing, losing her mom. And that was the biggest thing was wanting her to meet people in the community and laugh with the kids.
Starting point is 00:06:57 And she really did enjoy it. But as you said, it's a hard, it's a hard area to be in. But you completely, you turned your whole life. Yes. And you did it with ice cream, though, which is cool. Ice cream and cookies. Ice cream and cookies. That makes everybody better.
Starting point is 00:07:10 So if somebody wanted to go and visit the store, it looks like. you're closed on Mondays. Yeah. Which is probably why you're here today. And then Tuesday through Sunday, you've got pretty good hours there. And then right there in the firehouse plaza. And what's a good phone number to? It is 928-273-28-207.
Starting point is 00:07:33 And then you have Get SugarShack.com. If you guys want to check out the website, worth the stop in. And I think the problem with all of us is there's so many choices. and you don't, you know, I think we just forget. You know, we forget about certain things or, oh, we always go over here. Do your guys a favor. Just looking at the website, I'm like, I've got to go over there and check it out. It's so many cool things.
Starting point is 00:07:58 The cookies, the ice cream, the frying the donut and brownies and everything else. And our ice cream flavors is what I'll say is we really try. We do understand we're within proximity of other ice cream. So our goal was to really have those flavors. You're not going to find the grocery. store or in those stores around the corner like our lemon bar cheesecake um you know our cool mint cookie has andy's mints in it it's got cookie balls in it so a lot of our flavors are going to be really unique to what you're going to find like the jacked up tennessee toffee these are flavors you're
Starting point is 00:08:27 not getting somewhere else really nothing wrong with eating ice cream three day three times a day especially if it's it's good ice cream if it's good ice cream and we're now selling pints too so you can get it to go and we're on door dash so you've thought of everything so again check out get sugar shock dot com right over there in Firehouse Plaza. You may have to walk around a couple places. Don't get tempted by the first thing you see. Yeah, it's worth it. All out.
Starting point is 00:08:51 Read the reviews. That'll land you there. Perfect. Well, Shauna, thank you so much for coming. Did I say Shannon again? No. Okay, okay. You got.
Starting point is 00:08:59 Sean, thank you so much for coming in. Thank you for having me. I'm going to stop by because this looks so good. We look forward to having you. Thank you so much for coming in. And, guys, we will see you next time.
