Starting point is 00:00:35 Taylor Hicks lit up the fifth season of Fox's American Idol in 2006 when he made Judge Simon Cowell eat his words and won the hearts of more than 200 viewers across the globe. At 29, Hicks became the oldest contestant to win American Idol, a triumph he parlayed into two subsequent albums, Taylor Hicks in the distance, and a number one Billboard hit, Do I Make You Proud? Onstage, Hicks is renowned for combining blues, country, soul, and rock with his onstage charisma and downhome approachability. His musical versatility allows him to tell moving songs of his own, just to feel that way. Heaven knows, and his 2023 single, Porch Swing, as well as powerful covers of classics, like Elton John's Lee-Vurgeon and the Doobie Brothers taken it to the streets.
Starting point is 00:01:18 The Jim and Linda Lee Performing Arts Center will celebrate Taylor Hicks' February 7th concert with a pre-show harmonica contest.
