Starting point is 00:00:10 Hey, everybody. Welcome back to Cast 11. I'm Alicia, and I am so pleased to have Doe Brown back from Touchmark. I'm Touchmark at the Ranch, I should call it. How's it go? I mean, you were, the last time I talked to you, you were just getting your feet wet. You're just kind of figuring everything out up there. It's been a little bit now. How's it going? Touchmark at the ranchers in the finishing stages of our construction. So you can see all the happenings from the bottom of the hill. we are excited to be opening 74 new homes for the Prescott community. We are adding one bedroom, two bedroom apartments. We are excited to be adding what we call garden homes with attached garages for new residents. So for those of us that drive by and we see up there and it's touch market the ranch,
Starting point is 00:01:04 I know that that's only, you know, people who are, they need medical care, they need, that's not right, right? It's not. It's not just people who need something, right? It's... These new 74 apartments that we are opening up are luxury apartments, homes for individuals who like the convenience of having everything for them done. We offer not only housekeeping and building services, but dining services for the new individuals moving into our community. So not only do we have luxury, but we have convenience for the new individuals moving in. So I would think of it like, you know, you've got these people who worked hard their whole life. And it's time to retire. But the thought of mowing the lawn still does
Starting point is 00:02:03 vacuming. I want to go on a trip and did I turn off the stove? Guess what I can make one phone call and I'm going to find out and somebody can go check on that for me, right? And somebody can have everything taken care of while I'm gone on my trips and all that stuff. So the individual who moves in has no worries anymore. It is about having a life of luxury and convenience all together and then also having a social aspect in one campus. I've also toured the gym, see, the workout, the pool, the spa. And the view from there is amazing. Is there, like, you guys have thought of everything.
Starting point is 00:02:47 Like, everything that you do is just above and beyond. You know, you walk into just into the workout room and the equipment is better than anybody else is in town. It's just great. And so with the new units, are those available to start? I mean, can we tour them? Can we go check them out? What are we doing? So touchmark is in the finishing stages of what we call a wing A. The individuals who tour wing A will be able to see all the amenities that we have, just like you're talking about with our health and fitness center for activity-wise. But we're also adding some new things. We're adding a ballroom. We've added a 50-seat theater. We've added what we call a Hoyle room, which is an activity room for the residents to play cards and be social. In addition, we are in the process of opening what we call a breakfast nook, a gathering spot for residents to meet each other in the morning and have an espresso. So there's a lot of new and exciting things for socialization among the residents.
Starting point is 00:03:56 That is super important, too, to be able to just have that. You know, if I want to go down, I'm going to go down. If I don't feel like it today, I can just stay where I'm at. But so many times when you've decided, you know, I'm not working anymore, I'm at home. You start getting bored. You know, I get bored after a week's long vacation. It's like I'm probably not doing it right. But, you know, I'm saying it's, I see so many people who've retired and it's like, well,
Starting point is 00:04:22 I went back to work because I got bored. That's not going to happen at touchmark, right? You've got so much going on over there. There is a lot going on, but we also continue to encourage our residents to be involved in the Prescott community. For example, we have a resident who used to be the governor for the Prescott Sunup Rotary. Okay. He lives at the community, and he gets everybody involved in the rotary, including myself. Okay, so you guys, is this offsite or it's something that happens at Touchmark, or you guys go offsite for the city?
Starting point is 00:04:56 these meetings. So we continue to have our residents be involved in the Prescott community. So it's part of the independence of living there. So if I wanted to come in and take a look at these, when is the best time? Do I give you guys a call? Do I just show up? What's the best way to do that? Those that are interested in seeing Touchmark at the ranch can stop by at the community and have a tour from one of our resident counselors. Or if you're interested in going into a larger open house, we have two open houses scheduled on Saturdays in the month of November. So with Touchmark, you've been there for a while now. And I know when you first started, it was like, you know, kind of jumping in. What are some things you've learned while being there? What are some things you've heard from the residents that live there in the community?
Starting point is 00:05:44 One of the big comments that we have from all of our residents is the experience that they have with socialization and networking in the community. Many of the residents like not only, the management and the director staff that assists them every day, but they also like the opportunity to socialize with their neighbors and their peers. I love that. And I just, like I've said, nobody does it better than Touchmark. If you're thinking about a move and you're thinking, well, you know, I'm only this age or I'm only that age. And what advice would you give them if they're thinking about moving to Touchmark. Making a decision to move to a retirement-type community like Touchmark at the ranch,
Starting point is 00:06:35 there is a lot of thought behind. So I encourage people to stop by, meet with one of the resident counselors, and take a look at the many different amenities that the community has to offer. And does that fit your lifestyle and your needs? And what I like about Touchmark is now, I mean, you have full independent. And they're not, I mean, I remember being eight years old and going to visit my great grandma in a nursing home. So far beyond anything.
Starting point is 00:07:10 I mean, even your most, like the memory care, it's nothing like a nursing home. It is. I really want people to come and visit this place because it is. so different than anything that we're thinking about. And what I really like is the different stages of life. So get here, get stable, immerse yourself in the community, but no, there's other options as we get older or as our needs change. Right. So if I'm living in independent, how easy is it to transfer to more of an assisted? Touchmark at the ranch is very forward thinking. So those individuals that move in independently, we have what we call a continuum of care.
Starting point is 00:07:56 So the individual will age in place with us from being independent to moving to assisted living to living in our, what we call Terrace Lodge or memory care units. And what do I do if I'm living in independent? Is there somebody that's going to help me make those decisions there? Like, hey, I, you know, I'm concerned because my husband, or my spouse is, you know, I'm starting to notice that we need more help. Is there an opportunity to stay independent, but maybe I just need some help with, you know, medication management or, you know, bathing maybe. Is that possible?
Starting point is 00:08:33 And who would I, you guys counsel with that? So individuals who are advancing in their stages of life meet with our team of experts from R-Ns to counselors to assist you with what needs you are at in the present stage of your life. For those that are just beginning, we have the opportunities to meet with resident counselors to suggest different sizes of homes that you might be interested in. When you are ready for that decision, we have moving coordinators who help you move into the apartment. Many people are downsizing.
Starting point is 00:09:16 So a moving coordinator helps them. And when you show up at the doorstep, you're greeted by all of these wonderful directors from housekeepers to building services directors to dining directors to now embrace you into this whole new chapter of your life. Gosh, what a great place to be. How exciting. So if you guys are interested, any of our listeners out there, interested or know somebody, you know, and so many times we always think, oh, you know, Californians are coming in.
Starting point is 00:09:45 What are you seeing? Is it, are people moving there? Is it Prescottonians moving up to Touchmark? There is a wide variety of people that live at Touchmark at the ranch, but many of our residents who live with us are from Prescott. So they're very excited to start this chapter of their life, high up on the hill from down below and enjoy this luxurious environment that we have. They can go outside and do yoga by our brand new waterfall or they can enjoy a game of Majan with their friends in the brand new card room or enjoy a brand new movie in the movie theater. Or take a day and just enjoy your home and just hang out and go do shopping, go do hiking, go do – I mean, we live in the best place in Arizona, right? and arguably the United States. I mean, everybody wants to live here. And what better place to do it than a touch mark?
Starting point is 00:10:47 The views from Touchmark are like no other. We're high up on the hill, so all of our apartments have patios that we're building on. You can go out in our courtyard and see all the beautiful forest right from the courtyard. Or you can just sit in the Grand Lodge and read a book. whatever the individual wants to do. Gosh, Joe, you guys have thought of everything. And I just love talking to you guys. I love going up there and touring and just for even a few minutes being part of touchmarks.
Starting point is 00:11:19 It is just a great place to be. And I just want to thank you guys for just really, you know, I know when the building first started, everybody's like, what is that going to be? But you guys have done it so well and so smart and just truly have thought of everything. So I wish you many years of success over there. a touchmark. I know you seem so much more relaxed. You've got this now. You understand and you're just, it's just impressive to see what you guys are doing up there. So thank you so much. And I appreciate you coming in and sharing all this with me. Thank you for being a part of our community. And we appreciate all that you do. Thanks. We'll talk to you days next time. See ya.
