Starting point is 00:00:02 Hello, I'm Mayor Phil Good with your weekly update. I want to start by offering a hearty congratulations to Sean Underhill, who has been honored as the National Leave No Trace state advocate for the year. Sean has been instrumental in promoting the Leave No Trace principles in Prescott and beyond. He created a Leave No Trace focused Junior Ranger program and supports Prescott's monthly Nature Nino's community outreach events. Earlier this year, he initiated. a trail building project with the Boys and Girls Club of Central Arizona, where he trained
Starting point is 00:00:37 the trail crew on the seven principles of Leave No Trace. These principles include, plan ahead and prepare, travel and camp on durable surfaces, dispose of waste properly, leave what you find, minimize campfire impacts, respect wildlife, and be considerate of others. Through these efforts, Sean has reached thousands of individuals participating in over 20 events this year alone and spreading the message of environmental stewardship and sustainable outdoor practices. Of course, not only do the Leave No Trace principles provide cleaner and more enjoyable outdoor recreation, but Leave No Trace also helps prevent polluted water, trail damage, and wildfires. In our community, these outcomes are especially valuable. Thank you, Sean,

Starting point is 00:03:46 During last week's council voting meeting at 3 p.m., we considered the establishment of a business license program in Prescott. The city has had a business license. certain times in the past. Most recently, a business license program was established in 2016 and then abolished in 2019. A year ago, Council discussed the need to reinstate a very basic local business license and directed staff to return with an ordinance to establish such a program. Last week, staff brought a draft of the business license program to the Council. After a great deal of discussion, counsel decided to postpone action on this item pending some revisions by staff. We will be looking at this issue again within the next couple of months.
Starting point is 00:04:34 There are a couple of city committee meetings this week. The Airport Advisory Committee meets tomorrow December 17th at 2 p.m. in the old airport terminal building at 6,500 McCurdy Drive in Prescott.
