In March, the household hazardous waste event
will take place which allows residents to safely dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste.
The pickup dates will be from March 3rd through March 28,
but you must pre-register for this contracted curbside pickup event.
Registration is open now and will run through March 21st.
This event is exclusively for residential trash customers
and is not available to commercial businesses and apartment complexes.
Accepted materials include, but are not limited to, insecticides, pesticides, gasoline, car batteries,
draining oven cleaners, bleaches, oil-based paints, stains, or thinners with a five-gallon limit,
latex paints, a 20-gallon limit, adhesives, and non-alcaline batteries.
All items will need to be in a box labeled HHW for household hazardous waste

cycles.com team at 928-771-1116. The city of Prescott Public Works Department is hosting a two-day erosion
control coordinator training and certification course. This course will provide education and
certification in erosion and sediment control. Instruction and certification are provided by the Arizona
chapter of Associated General Contractors. A registration fee is required for this course.
Course content covers stormwater, sediment, and erosion control regulations, best management practices,
an introduction to preparing stormwater pollution prevention plans, site inspection, monitoring,
and stabilization in a review of permit requirements.
This course is required for Arizona Department of Transportation or federal projects and is highly recommended for municipal projects.
Council held a special meeting last week to discuss
reconsideration of the citizen petition submitted by Bonnie McMahon and Rob Moyer.
The purpose of the petition is to amend the city charter to automatically apply open space
protections to any city-owned property zoned as natural open space, and any city-owned property
designated as open space on the general plan's land-use map. The purpose of the measure would be
to ensure that properties could only be used for limited open-space purposes and
would not be able to be sold, leased, or otherwise encumbered without a vote of the residents of the city.
After much discussion, Council has directed staff to prepare a draft for council consideration.
It will be discussed again and possibly voted on at the February 25th Council meeting.
Council meets for its regularly scheduled Tuesday meeting tomorrow for a study session at 1 p.m.
during the study session, we'll receive a presentation and update on plans for West Granite Creek Park for discussion.
At 3 p.m., counsel will hold its voting meeting.
We will continue our consideration of adding an ordinance to allow accessory dwelling units, also known as ADUs.
Recent changes to state statutes have preempted the City of Prescott Land Development Code regarding ADUs,
and it appears that the legislature wishes to make further changes to the state's
to the statute that will directly impact Prescott's code.
Many council members, however, would like to amend the code to require water submeters with all
ADUs.
Staff is recommending updates to the Prescott City Code to make it consistent with the
revisions, which we will discuss.
We will also discuss the possible addition of a proclamation policy to the council rules of
procedure.
Staff will provide three options for the council to review a discuss, and return with a
updated resolution and rules of procedure for adoption at the next voting meeting based on feedback
provided by the council. In other city meetings, the Tourism Advisory Committee will meet on
Wednesday, February 12th at 11 a.m. in the council chambers. Next Tuesday, February 18th,
the Airport Advisory Committee will meet at the old terminal building on McCurdy Drive in Prescott
at 2 p.m. The City Council Subcommittee on appointments is seeking applications from citizens
who are interested in serving on city boards, commissions, and committees.
There are four vacancies on the Workforce Housing Committee,
three full-term and one short-term position.
You do not have to be a Prescott resident to serve on this board.
Boards, commissions, and committees provide opportunities for citizens
to take an active role in their local government,
and I would encourage you to consider applying.
The City of Prescott's Civic Enhancement Committee is now accepting grant applications
for eligible non-profit organizations that promote music and parks, especially for the children of Prescott.
These non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply for funding for fiscal year 2026.
The application filing deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025.
Applications are available on the City of Prescott's website.
I'm Mayor Phil Good, and I'll update you again next week. Thanks for watching.
