Starting point is 00:00:02 Hello, I'm Mayor Phil Good with your weekly update. I want to let you know that the trailhead for the Jan Alphano Trail north of Willow Lake Road will be closed from today, January 13th, to Friday, February 7th due to survey work needed for the Willow Creek Gravity Sewer Project. For more information, please contact Public Works at 928-777-1130. Next Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. City of Prescott offices will be closed on Monday, January 20th. The city offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 21st at 8 a.m.
Starting point is 00:00:42 The Solid Waste Division will not be collecting residential or commercial trash and recyclables on Monday, January 20th. Both residential and commercial services will have scheduled changes next week. The City of Prescott Transfer Station will not be open on Monday, January 20th, but will reopen. Tuesday, January 21st at 7 a.m. To see the collection schedule changes, please go to the website below. As of January 1st, 2025, long-term residential rentals are no longer subject to city transaction privilege tax, also known as TPT. Starting January 1st, if you have residential rental property, you should not collect and remit city TPT on income received from that property. Property owners must still register the rental property with the county assessor. The change does not affect vacation rentals, hotels, motels, and all other transient lodging
Starting point is 00:01:42 businesses, which must still collect file and remit TPP under the transient lodging and hotel classifications. Commercial leases and rentals must also still collect file and remit TPT for any income derived from commercial rent under the commercial lease classifications. This tax removal only applies to long-term residential property rentals that are reported to the Arizona Department of Revenue under Business Code 045. If you have any questions, please contact the city's tax-compliant analyst 928-777-1268. I want to remind you that the Zone 52 Water Main Extension Project has begun. The project consists of installing a new water main from the Inesion.
Starting point is 00:02:30 intersection of Pioneer Parkway and Williamson Valley Road to Bowie Drive South. In addition to his stalling over one mile of new water main pipe, the project includes constructing water infrastructure and the potential demolition of the existing 100,000-gallon Longview Water Storage Tank and Longview booster pump station in the Longview Estate subdivision off Bowie Drive South. This project is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2025 and is being undertaken to improve the city's water infrastructure to meet current and future demands. Work may occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The majority of this project takes place outside of the roadways. However, please be aware of reduced speeds, loud noise, flagging operations, and lane restrictions throughout the work zones.
Starting point is 00:03:23 Please drive safely and carefully when you see road construction workers. We'll keep the community informed of potential construction impacts throughout the project. The City Council meets tomorrow, Tuesday, January 14th, for a study session at 1 p.m. and a voting meeting at 3 p.m. During the study session, we will have a presentation and discussion regarding the establishment of a citizen's sustainability and resiliency advisory committee. This is in response to provisions in the 2025 general plan draft, the 2024 strategic plan and a submitted energy audit. The proposed committee would meet quarterly to make recommendations to council and the city manager concerning increasing energy efficiency and other sustainability practices for the city
Starting point is 00:04:13 in order to save taxpayer dollars and to protect the community from claimed climate impacts. We will also have a presentation and discussion regarding potential amendments to the Prescott City Code regarding gas-powered leaf blowers. Both of these topics are for discussion only, and no action will be taken at this time. During tomorrow's council meeting, we will consider and possibly adopt new fees and charges for the Prescott Regional Airport, Schedule B, and a new Schedule C.
Starting point is 00:04:45 The new fees and charges would be effective February 14, 2025, if the council agrees to adopt the new and increased fees. The proposed schedules and resched fees. written reports supporting the proposed fees and charges are available on the City of Prescott website. In addition, Council will hold a public hearing and possible adoption of a resolution to establish an airport vicinity overlay district with specific requirements and exemptions. This would amend the official zoning map affecting certain properties within the city of Prescott, generally located north of SR 89A and east and west of the Prescott Regional Airport,
Starting point is 00:05:25 adding penalty provisions and a severance clause. There are several city committee meetings this week. The Tourism Advisory Committee meets Wednesday, January 15th at 11 a.m. here in City Hall. The Community Development Block Grant Citizens Advisory Committee also meets on Wednesday in the council conference room. The Board of Adjustments will meet on Thursday, January 16th, in City Hall at 9 a.m. And next week, the Airport Advisory Committee will meet at the Airport Old Terminal Bill, 6500 McCurdy Drive, Prescott. Speaking of boards, commissions, and committees, we continue to seek new applications for multiple committees as we enter 2025. Look on the city website for the list of
Starting point is 00:06:09 openings. Applications must be submitted to the city by 5 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2025. Serving on a board, commissioner, committee is a great way to get involved in the city of Prescott, and I encourage you to consider these opportunities.
