We want to hear how the library has impacted you. Share a favorite library memory, how the library made a difference to you, or what you like most. Perhaps you grew up with a library enjoyed story time, or looked forward to participating in the summer reading programs. Maybe a librarian got you hooked on a favorite book series

With the approaching wildfire season, we're beginning to promote fire safety efforts. The city of Prescott is offering a free brush and vegetation debris drop-off of event for its residential trash customers. This event will run through the month of April every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the City of Prescott Transfer Station, located at 2,800 Sun Dog Ranch Road. Proof of City of Prescott residency in the form of a driver's license or utility bill is required. The event dates are Saturday, April 5th, Saturday April 12th, Saturday April 19th, and Saturday April 26th.
Starting point is 00:01:58 Saturday, May 3rd. Please do not bag the brush vegetation debris. Do not place trash in the brush vegetation debris. And please remember to cover and contain all loads when transporting them. This is for residential customers, commercial haulers will be required to pay the standard rate for disposing of brush and vegetation debris. This is the last week of the annual household hazardous waste event in the city of Prescott. This allows residents not not commercial accounts or apartment complexes to safely dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste. This is only for those that pre-registered by last week. If you have pre-registered, pick-up dates continue through March 28th.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Please check the Prescott's Recycles.com website to see what is allowed and what is not allowed. Place all items in a box labeled HHW in front of your home six to ten feet from your curb so it can be safely and easily seen by our contractor for pickup under scheduled day. Please call PrescottRecycles.com team at 928-771-1116 if you have any questions. Asphalt paving operations along Sundog Road are set to begin Tuesday, March 25th through Thursday, March 27th. The transfer station will be closed during this time and will reopen on Friday, March 28th. Access to the Pevine Trail closed on Sunday, March 23rd, and will remain closed until tomorrow, Tuesday, March 25th. The Yavapai County Tire Yard will also be closed on Tuesday, March 25th.
Starting point is 00:03:41 The fiscal year 2025 pavement preservation project schedule began last week. Right now, the focus is on Gurley Street between Bradshaw Drive and South Virginia Street. Work may occur between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. There may be the necessity of temporary street closures, lane restrictions, reduced speeds, rough road conditions, loud noise, and flagging operations throughout the work area. We request that you avoid on-street parking if at all possible during construction. Please follow all signage and directions. The removable bollard traffic installation in the downtown area has been delayed last week due to weather but it's back on track now. The intersection of Montezuma Street and Gurley Street will be closed March 24th through April 1st.
Starting point is 00:04:32 The installation process requires the intersections to be fully closed for 24 hours a day for 8 to 10 days. Detour routes will be posted during the closures and clearly marked. On-street parking restrictions will also be in place during the construction. Next month from April 14th through April 22nd, the intersection of Montezuma Street and Willis Street will be closed. This will be the final Bullard installation. Thank you for your support and understanding so that we can ensure the public safety during the various parades and events that occur in downtown
Starting point is 00:05:08 Prescott. During this week's Council study session, tomorrow March 25th at 1 p.m., we'll be hearing for Prescott Police and Fire, providing an overview of each department, including areas of responsibility, budget overview, goals and objectives, and accomplishments. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to share with us. During tomorrow's council voting meeting at 3 p.m., we will have a couple of presentations from the Giving Machine Committee, and also regarding the Housing Needs Assessment.
Starting point is 00:05:39 In addition, we'll have the third and final presentation and discussion regarding the 2025 General Plan, and adopting ballot language so it can be voted on in the August 5th primary election. We will also have a presentation and discussion related to a petition submitted by citizens Bonnie McMinn and Rod Moyer last November. This petition is related to the protection of city-owned open space in perpetuity. The proposed amendment would amend the city charter to automatically apply open space protections to any city-owned property zoned as natural open space, and any city-owned property designated as open space on the general plan's land-use map. Information on both the study session and the voting meeting, including appropriate documents, may be found at the city portal linked below.
Starting point is 00:06:33 The City Council's subcommittee on appointments is seeking applications from citizens who are interested in serving on various city boards, commissions, and committees. There are openings on the Building Safety Advisory and Appeals Board, the Fire Board of Appeals and the Workforce Housing Committee. Boards, commissions, and committees provide opportunities for citizens to take an active role in their local government. I encourage you to consider applying. Applications are due by 5 p.m. this Friday, March 28, 2025. I'm Mayor Phil Good, and I'll update you again next week.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Thanks for watching.
