Hello, I'm Mayor Phil Good with your weekly update.
This week, the Prescott City Council will meet on Tuesday, November 4th, in the council chambers at City Hall, 201 North Montezuma Street.
The study session begins at 1 p.m. Topics will include discussion on the formation of a council subcommittee for hiring decision reviews, as well as discussions of the 2024 building and fire codes, which guide construction and safety standards,
the city. The voting meeting starts at 3 p.m. items on the agenda include updates to the city
charter regarding the majority to elect in primary section, a review and possible approval of the
West Granite Creek Park conceptual site plan, adoption of the workforce housing policy, and
discussions of an appeal concerning a 47-room hotel on South Montezuma Street. Council meetings are open
to the public and you can review all agenda items and supporting documents online at Prescott
az.gov. A reminder that tomorrow, Tuesday, November 4th is Election Day. If you haven't already
submitted your ballot, please drop it off at the Yavapai County Recorder's Office to ensure it is
counted. It's too late to mail a ballot. All ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Tuesday,
November 4th to be counted. In-person voting is available at the Yavapai County Recorder's Office
located in the County Administration Building 1015 Fair Street through 7 p.m. on election day.
This is your opportunity to have your voice heard on local matters, so please make sure
your ballot is returned on time. Looking ahead, the city of Prescott will be closed on Tuesday,
November 11th, in honor of Veterans Day. City offices will reopen on Wednesday, November 12th at
8 a.m. The Prescott Public Library will reopen at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12th. The Solid
Waste Division will not collect residential or commercial routes on November 11th. Monday's collection
will proceed as usual, and all other routes will be delayed by one day, with pickups taking
place on the following business day. The transfer station will also be closed on November 11th,
reopening Wednesday, November 12th at 7 a.m. The 2025,
Veterans Day parade will take place on Tuesday, November 11th in downtown Prescott. Opening ceremonies
begin at 10.30 a.m. at the intersection of Cortez and Union Streets. The parade then will start at 11 a.m.
This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together to honor our veterans and their
service and sacrifice. I encourage everyone to attend and show your support. As the weather begins to
change, Prescott residents are encouraged to check smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, and
vehicle winter readiness. These simple precautions can make a big difference in safety for your home and
family. The fire department reminds residents to take advantage of available safety resources,
including guidance for safe fireplaces and heaters. Meanwhile, our Prescott Police Department reminds everyone
to remain alert while driving, particularly during early morning and evening hours when daylight
is limited, and to watch for pedestrians and bicyclists.
A Recreation Service Department continues to advance the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, which
ensures that Prescott's parks, trails, and open spaces continue to meet the needs of residents
and visitors alike.
The West Granite Creek Park Conceptual Site Plan, which will be reviewed by the city,
Council this week represents an important investment in accessible outdoor spaces for families,
sports programs, and community events. These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to maintaining
a healthy, active, and connected community. That concludes this week's update. Thank you for
staying engaged with our city government and for your continued participation in our community's
events and decisions. I'm Mayor Phil Good and I'll update you.
again next week. Thanks so much for watching.
