Starting point is 00:00:02 Hello, everyone. I'm Mayor Phil Good with your weekly update. The City of Prescott's Economic Development Department is conducting a business survey to better understand the needs and challenges and opportunities facing local businesses. This will help the city shape future programs, policies, and investments to support business growth. The survey is open to all Prescott businesses and available on Participateprescott.com. November 15th. For details, contact John Hiney, City of Prescott Economic Development at 928-777-1460, Extension 4600. Phase 2 of the downtown ballard installation project begins this week. Starting today, the City of Prescott with Combs Construction Company, our contractor, are returning
Starting point is 00:00:57 to the downtown area to install the next set of removable bollards in the downtown intersections to enhance pedestrian safety during major events. A bollard is a short vertical post that's used to safely separate pedestrians from vehicles for parade routes and special events. Bullards will be installed in the following intersections as shown on the map. The east and west sides of Monizuma Street and Goodwin Street intersection, the east and west sides of the Cortez Street and Goodwin Street intersection, and the south side of the Montezuma Street and Sheldon Street intersection.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Intersections will be partially closed 24 hours a day for Bullard installation from October 6th through November 3rd. These closures are necessary to allow crews to complete this work prior to the Veterans Day parade on November 11th. Goodwin Street from Montez Street to Cortez Street will be fully closed to all traffic during this four-week period to allow crews to perform this work. However, northbound and southbound traffic will be maintained along Montez Street and Cortez Street. Work in the Sheldon Street and Montez Street intersection will be performed in three phases to allow traffic to flow during Bullard installation. This work will result in lane closures at that intersection throughout October. Construction may occur Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Detour routes will be posted during these
Starting point is 00:02:31 closure times. Please follow the marked signage to get to your destination and plan for extra travel time. On-street parking restrictions will be in place during this work. The 2025 Veterans Day Parade will be held in downtown Prescott on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 11 a.m. This year's parade theme is celebrating America's Patriots, 250 years of military service. The city of Prescott is inviting parade entrance from the community to compete in seven categories this year. Each entry category will have a first place winner and all entries will compete for a best overall award. The categories are Non-profit organizations, fraternal organizations
Starting point is 00:03:35 slash military organizations, motorized groups, music groups, marching units, hospital entries by veterans, and commercial slash business entries. Participation in the parade is open to everyone and all are welcome.
Starting point is 00:03:51 Individuals, businesses, organizations, and groups, interested in participating in the parade are asked to return your entry form no later than a party. October 20, 2025. There is no fee to enter, and application forms and rules can be found on the city website. A pavement preservation project by Sunland Asphalt Construction continues on SR89 Yoppa Connector to the Willow Lake Road roundabout. Pavement preservation is scheduled tonight along the right
Starting point is 00:04:23 lanes of SR 89 in both directions. This work requires a full closure of driveway entrance. along SR-89, the SR-89 Yoppa connector, and the SR-89 Prescott Lakes Parkway intersections for each night. Detour routes will be available, so please follow the Mark's signage. This work requires a partial closure of certain turning movements within the roundabout each night. During this work you can expect, crews working from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. with some night work performed as needed, flagging operations and temporary traffic controls, temporary street closures, lane restrictions, reduced speeds, construction noise, and travel delays. Cruise will work to maintain business access as best as possible.
Starting point is 00:05:14 On Tuesday, October 7th, we have the Council Subcommittee on Water Issues meeting at 9.30 a.m. in the Council Chambers. The Tourism Advisory Committee meets Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the council chambers, and next Monday, October 13th, the Pedestrian Bicycle and Traffic Advisory Committee meets at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers. The City Council Subcommittee on Appointments is currently seeking applications from citizens who are interested in serving on the following city boards, commissions, and committees. The Pedestrian Bicycle and Traffic Advisory Committee is seeking to fill three upcoming vacancies. The three-year term is from September 2025 until September 2025 until September
Starting point is 00:05:59 2028. Applicants must be Prescott residents. The Airport Advisory Committee has one short-term vacancy that's open from March 2025 through 27. Applicants do not need to be a Prescott resident for
Starting point is 00:06:15 this committee. Boards commissions and committees provide opportunities for citizens to take an active role in their local government. Members are appointed by the City Council upon recommendation from the Council Subcommittee on Appointments following review of applications. Starting point is 00:06:46 As you may know by now, the Prescott City Council runoff election is set for November 4th, with five city council candidates buying for three seats. Best of luck to the candidates. We look forward to swearing in our new council members and mayor on November 18th. Also on November 4th, there is a ballot initiative for the Arizona Public Service APS franchise agreement. The current franchise agreement with APS expires in May of 2026, after 25 years of service. Voters are asked to renew this agreement for another 20, years, a yes vote declares this electric utility is beneficial to the citizens of Prescott.
