Starting point is 00:00:02 Hello, I'm Mayor Philgood with your weekly update. I'm very excited to share with you a new program in the city of Prescott that was approved by our city council in last week's voting meeting. In response to the current workforce housing crisis, Yavapai County Development Services, also known as YCDS, has designed six single-family home plans that are available for anyone to use to build their home within Yavapai County's jurisdiction. There are two one-bedroom floor plans, two-bedroom floor plans, and two-three-bedroom floor plans,
Starting point is 00:00:39 ranging from about 570 square feet to approximately 1,600 square feet. The plans are available for use at no cost within Yavapai County's A Home of Your Own Program. Our Workforce Housing Committee had a short-term goal to create a city program similar to the Yavapai County Home of Your Own Programme. and council voted to approve this goal in 2024. After researching the program and considering alternative options, city staff felt Yavapai County Development Services had the best concept, one that was most suited for our area and worked to bring this same program to Prescott. The city council voted to adopt this program and the six residential building plans in our city.
Starting point is 00:01:28 It's important to note that the use of these plans still requires a permit for the unique site that will be built upon, as well as other site-specific information for a full permit to be issued for construction, and that there are conditions that may render a property or a lot ineligible to use this program. The goal of this program is to provide new home plans that are permit-ready, thereby reducing architectural and drafting costs to the homeowner and speeding up the permitting process. It's our hope that this will provide more opportunities for home ownership in our community.
