Beginning at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025,
Yavapai County's fire restrictions zones 3, 3, 4, 4, and 5, in coordination with the Department
of Forestry and Fire Management and Bureau of Land Management, will implement stage 2 fire
restrictions to reduce wildfire risk. This implementation marks the first use of the
updated Yavapai County Outdoor Fire Ordinance 2025-2, which replaces Ordinance 2020.
to 2. Stage 2 fire restrictions are being enacted preemptively by an interim order signed by
Chair Mallory in May 2025. The formal resolution will go before the Yavapai County Board of
Supervisors for approval at their next meeting on June 4, 2025. These restrictions are in
coordination with federal partners, including the Bureau of Land Management in the Tonto National
Forest, which entered stage 2 fire restrictions on May 1, 2025. These restrictions include the following
fire ban zones 3-3-4-4 and 5, 5, including the areas of Ash Fork, Seligman, Black Canyon City,
Congress, North Wickenberg, Peoples Valley, Yarnel, Wilhoite, and unincorporated areas herein.

restrictions. Igniting, building, maintaining, or using any type of fire fuel by combustible materials
such as wood, charcoal, briquettes, or coal. Exemption, portable stoves, wood pellet smokers,
grills, fire rings, or other pressurized liquid petroleum gas, LPG. Devices that can be
turned on and off are allowed if located at a developed site, as defined in the ordinance.
Smoking outdoors
Exemption, smoking is permitted within enclosed vehicles or at a developed site, as defined in
the ordinance. Using internal combustion engines for activities such as landowners,
property maintenance or household repairs. Exemption, internal combustion engines equipped with spark
arresting devices may be operated for household-only activities, including landscaping, property
maintenance, or repair. Use of explosive targets, tracer rounds, or incendiary ammunition.
No exemptions available. Outdoor mechanical and industrial operations, including welding and
the use of acetylene or other torches with open flames. No exemptions of available.
In addition, all forms of outdoor burning are strictly prohibited, including open fires,
campfires, fireworks, and any combustion-related activities. These fire restrictions will remain in
effect until wildfire risk levels decrease. Fire agencies and safety agencies involved in this
decision will collectively determine when conditions permit lifting the fire ban.
