Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello there! This is a light episode of Simple Swedish Podcast and today we will talk about taking the train. Yes, there are many words that are useful when you are going to take the train. So I hope that you will learn a lot of transport, a kind of vehicle. It goes on rails. The rail is the track, the iron track, the metal track that the train goes on. We also say train tracks or a railway. And a train has a locomotive or a So it is the hatch that drives the train, that pulls the train. And the rest of the train consists of wagons. And how do you do that when you go by train? Yes, first you need to buy a ticket.
Starting point is 00:01:52 And, yes, now in time you often buy tickets online. And you can either buy a simple trip. A simple trip is a trip that goes in one direction. For example, Gothenburg, Stockholm. A simple trip to Gothenburg, Stockholm. You can also buy a trip and return trip. So a trip and return trip is for example Gothenburg, Stockholm and then back to Gothenburg. So it's two trips, back and forth. And you need to know some different things, for example which date you want to travel, which time of the day you want to travel. You might need to look at the timetable. The timetable is a table where you see the different times for the train. And you need to know which station you are leaving from and what your destination is. destination. Tiden som tåget går kallas för avgångstid, för man säger att tåget avgår
Starting point is 00:03:34 den tiden, så tåget å to the destination, is called arrival time. So the train arrives, that is, it arrives. It's the same thing, arrives, arrives to the destination. Yes. And then, when you are at the station, you need to find the right tracks. So there are often different tracks. Track 1, track 2, track 3, track 4, etc. So you have to look at this display, which track the train departs from. And then you go to the right track and you need to find the right train.
Starting point is 00:04:41 But if you are on the right track, then it's probably not that difficult to find the right train. But often you also need to find the right carriage. Because you often have a specific carriage that you should go on board on. So you go to the right track, you go to the train, you find the right carriage. they say in the high-speakers, for example train 435 with departure time 1500 arrives now on track 6 or they may say train, for example train X2000 towards Stockholm with departure time 15.00 arrives now at track 6. This means that the train that goes towards Stockholm arrives now on track 6. Then you go to the platform, which is at track 6. Then you find the right car. Then on the train you need to find the right seat. You find the right seat, you sit there and then you go.
Starting point is 00:06:25 and then you sit there and then you go. And then there will be a ticket checker, sometime during the trip. The ticket checker checks your ticket so that you have a valid ticket. If you don't have a valid ticket, then maybe you need to pay for the tickets, and then you arrive at your destination. Sometimes you need to change trains, You need to change trains. You need to make a change. So you need to leave the train and go into another train. You change trains. You make a change.
Starting point is 00:07:30 And sometimes the train is delayed. So yes, the train is sometimes, especially in the winter. So the train is often delayed in the winter. But did you know that you can get a resched refund if your train is delayed? Refund is simply money. So if your train is delayed, you can get money for it. You can get a refund. And that depends on how much the train is delayed. But you can get money back, basically.
Starting point is 00:08:12 So yes, that was the episode about to take the train. So listen, please, several times if you found new words. I hope you have learned some new words. Take care and see you soon. Bye bye!
