Nivå: A2-B1 Den senaste tiden har jag börjat spela i ett band. Det är något som känns väldigt kul eftersom jag har spelat gitarr sen jag var 12 år gammal, och spelade mycket under mina tonår. Men senare i vuxen ålder har det inte blivit så mycket. I det här avsnittet pratar jag om det, och ni får även lära er användbara ord på ämnet! Och ja, jag sitter här i Valencia, såklart.  Och det är ganska..det är januari, men det är väldigt trevligt väder ute just nu. Det är typ 20 grader och sol. Och ja, just nu så jobbar jag mycket med Language Gym, såklart. Jag jobbar mycket med att skapa nya lektioner. Till exempel en kurs med verkliga situationer där vi rollspelar och övar på verkliga situationer.  Till exempel att köpa kläder, beställa mat, en jobbintervju eller att boka hotell och sådana saker. Så de lektionerna börjar nästa vecka. Och antagligen om du lyssnar på det här, ja, antagligen samma vecka. Så det kommer..och det kommer andra nya lektioner. Till exempel en överraskning i mitten av februari. Någonting helt nytt som vi inte har gjort förut, kommer i mitten av februari. It's January but the weather is very nice right now It's like 20 degrees and sunny And yes, right now I'm working a lot with language gym of course. I'm working a lot with creating new lessons. For example a course with real situations where we play a role and practice in real situations, for example

buying clothes, ordering food, a job interview or booking a hotel and such things. The lessons will start next week, and probably if you listen to this, probably the same week. And there will be other new lessons, for example a surprise in the middle of February. Something completely new that we haven't done before. It will be in the middle of February. And yes, Language Gym. Because, yes, I have actually started to play music with a band. And it is of course very fun. I have long wanted to incorporate more music in my life and especially to play music because yes I have played guitar all my life and but maybe not so much in adult age so I played a lot more when I was a teenager, so I played a lot more when I was a teenager. But I have still played a little bit, then and then. I play both acoustic guitar and electric guitar. So an electric guitar is of course an electric guitar, because the word el in Swedish is the same as electricity.

So you can say el only in Swedish. So I thought I'd talk a little about that. about my experiences of music and also some vocabulary related to this topic. So right now I'm playing with some other people and we started with that maybe half a year ago maybe we have done that in like six months

and yeah it started with that we just jammed together yeah, so jamming is just sitting and playing, not much structure. But just sitting and taking it a little spontaneously. Maybe play some songs that everyone can or maybe improvise But then we felt that we wanted to play more and we wanted to start

We started to practice together So to practice means that you practice on songs, simply. You are rehearsing, I think it comes from repeating. So we found a rehearsal room. A rehearsal room is a place where you can play together There are instruments, amplifiers, it's like a speaker that you can connect to your guitar So I have my electric guitar and I connect the electric guitar to an amplifier with a cable a cable

You can say cable, you can see a cable, you can see a cable So the cable goes between the guitar and the amplifier So you connect the cable between the guitar and the amplifier And an electric bass also needs an amplifier So we have an electric guitar, we have an amplifier, an electric guitar, an electric bass, drums of course And the person who plays drums is called a trummist The person who plays the drums is called a trummist. So the trummist plays the drums, the guitarist plays the guitar, the bassist plays the bass. We also have one on the keyboard. A keyboard or a synth, you could say.

You could call it... You can call that person a keyboardist, or a keyboard player. No, keyboardist, I don't know. You can also have a piano. And then you have of course a person who sings. A person who sings. A person who sings. And sometimes we also have a girl who plays trumpet. But the standard setting is guitar, song, bass, keyboard, drums and so we rehearsed almost every week in November and December

and then we actually had a play. So a play is of course that you play together and perform in front of other people. So we played in front of other people. We had a concert, you could say. A concert is perhaps a little less than a concert. And the word concert, listen to that, because we write concert, but we say concert without T. One concert, several concerts, that concert, ok? So one concert. But yes, we had a concert in December sometime. So that was our first concert, you could say. And it was, well, it was just with friends.

So we were in a place, which was also a friends place, a yoga studio actually. And we had a little party, we played, we had another band that also played. And then you say that you play live. A live concert. You can also say a gig, but a gig is maybe a little more when you get paid So we didn't get paid because this is our own network Our friends and our friends' friends But in the future it would of course be fun to do it a little more seriously and maybe play in front of a bigger audience, maybe have more of our own songs because we actually have two of our own songs right now songs that we have written ourselves

but most of the songs we play are covers. So you could say that a cover is a song that another artist has made. It might be good to say that the word artist in Swedish is mostly someone who plays music, okay? Because in English we say an artist, it can also be a person who paints. But in Swedish an artist is not someone who paints, because that is an artist when someone creates art, or a painter, if you are specifically for painting. But an artist in Swedish is mostly someone who plays music or sings and so on. And how did this start for me, in my life. It actually started when I was in sixth grade.

So I was like twelve years old and we started to have music lessons in school. And that was very fun music lessons, very fun. Because we, well we, they divided the class into groups and every group was like a band. One person played drums, one person played guitar, one person played bass, etc. I had my friends that I hung out with when we were a band. And then I started playing guitar. Electric guitar, more specifically. And the first song we played was Hit the Road Jack. And I remember that it was very difficult. But I also thought it was very fun. So yes, I simply started play guitar there and after a while I bought my own electric guitar, a black Ibanez. And that's the way it is, as they say in Swedish. That's the way it is. It started like that and it continues like that.

So I continued to play. We also played in my free time. Me and these friends. So we started to play in my friend's garage. So he bought a drum set. garage so han köpte ett trumset ett trumset och ja jag hade min gitarr en annan kompis köpte en bas och så vidare och så började vi spela och ja But then... And then in high school I went to a music program So I played a lot of music at high school Simply But I didn't have any band Because we... The people I played with, we were just having fun.

We lost contact and we weren't really friends anymore at the high school. So we were happy with each other. So at the high school I played a lot of music of course because I went to this music program but I had no group, no band. And then after high school, in my adult life I haven't had any band or band directly I have played a little bit then and then for myself But now I have found people And that is mostly just luck really I mean, I haven't been looking for a band It just happened It just happened

I met these people One day We just started jamming We had some jam And then it just happened But now it feels very fun We had some jam and then it just happened. But now it feels very fun. Yes, but that was what I wanted to talk about today.
