Jag gör det här extraavsnittet med anledning av den hemska händelsen i Örebro för ett par dagar sen. Den var den värsta masskjutningen i Sverige någonsin - tio personer dödades. Jag vill dels uppmärksamma händelsen och dels hjälpa er att förstå den genom att gå igenom den på lätt svenska och lära er några viktiga ord. Läs mer på SVT. Hello there! You are listening to Simple Swedish Podcast. This is an extra episode. I thought I would record an extra episode. Because something has happened in Sweden. So I just wanted to talk a little bit about that. There will be another episode a little later, as usual, but in this episode I wanted to talk a little bit about the terrible that just happened in Sweden. And also so that you can learn some words so that it becomes easier to read the news about this event and similar events. So what has happened is that there has been a school shooting

in Örebro. Örebro is a city and a shooting is when someone shoots with a weapon and a school shooting is when there is a shooting at a school so it was a shooting on Tuesday, the 4th of February. I'm recording this today, it's Friday, the 7th of February. So it was three days ago today. And ten people have been killed in this shooting. So ten people have been killed by someone who has shot these people. And later this person took his own life.

The perpetrator took his own life. den här personen sitt eget liv. Gärningsmannen tog sitt eget liv. En gärningsmann är en person som begår ett brott. Ett brott är ju någonting som är olagligt. Och det här This crime is a very, very horrible and serious crime. To shoot people at a school. This school is not for children. It is a school called Risbergska. Risbergska is a school with adult education, which means education for adults, not for children. And also SFI. SFI is Swedish for immigrants. So these two different types of education were at this school.

And what happened? So this person came to the school and started shooting. came to the school and started shooting. And the police came after only five minutes, so pretty fast anyway. So... and the police said that when they came there, they met an inferno, as they said. So smoke came from the building. First and foremost. So smoke is what comes when it burns. If you have fire, you also get smoke.

So smoke came out of the building. I don't know why but yeah, there was smoke coming out of the building and they said that someone shot at them, at the police and that they saw injured people, dead people everywhere in there and it took an hour to find the perpetrator this person who shot and he was

already dead he had shot himself so he had taken his own life as well so a total of 11 people were killed and that is the worst mass shooting ever in Sweden so therefore this is an extra horrible event. And the perpetrator his name was Richard

Andersson and was 35 years old. But the police didn't know him before. So the police didn't know him before. So the police didn't know who he was.

And he had no connection to criminal gangs. So he wasn't part of any criminal gangs. And he wasn't punished either, earlier on so he... yeah, the police didn't know who this was you don't even know why he committed this crime yeah, to commit a crime is to do something illegal to commit a crime and you don't know why he committed this crime

but he had a license for four different weapons And they have asked people who knew who he was, people who maybe knew him or just knew that he was a little odd odd, so that he was a little strange, a little strange maybe not completely ordinary, like and he had social problems

he, well so he was shy to be shy means that you you don't want to be social. You don't want to meet people, talk to people and so on. So he was shy. He was like, shy. Contact with other people. and he had problems in school, so he couldn't manage school so well and he didn't have a job and he didn't have any income either Income is money that you earn. But nobody knows why he did this. but you can speculate, he may have been very lonely, isolated, depressed, he may have seen himself as an victim is exposed to a crime.

We have 10 death victims in this shooting. 10 people have died, so 10 death victims. You can be an victim of different crimes. A crime victim is a person who is exposed to a crime. But this person maybe saw himself as a victim

and hated the world. He maybe wanted to people are the cause for his suffering. And he might have wanted to take revenge on school. It's just speculation. Anyway, this is a very terrible event. I just wanted to pay attention to it. And maybe make it easier for everyone who listens to understand what has happened and understand the news a little better. But yes, the worst mass shooting ever in Sweden, not particularly fun to hear about. But I hope this episode has been useful and that's how our thoughts go to the relatives and the victims and their families.
