Hello and welcome to the Simpo Swedish Podcast.
Today we will talk about something called the Alman law is like a law in Sweden that allows us to be in nature, enjoy nature, be in different places, even tent and stuff like that
But there are many rules as well
So it's not only a right, but also a fault
Or many faults
So that's what we're going to talk about today
But first I'm going will thank some new Patreons
So it's
Septa Anna Hanno Kai Tokk
Alessandro Roy Sten Julia and Mari
So, thanks to you for supporting the podcast
For everyone who wants to support the podcast
you can go to patreon.com
slash Swedish Linguist
Yes
That was what we were going to start saying
So
Yes, the right of everyone
So yes
The right that everyone has to be in nature, to enjoy nature
You can walk in nature, cycle in nature, paddle, paddle a canoe or kayak
pick berries, pick mushrooms, even set up a tent.
And this can also be done on land that someone owns. So also on private land, there are some different rules that we come to.
And this system is built on showing respect to nature, to animals, to landowners and so on
and that you don't disturb and don't destroy
Okay?
So to show respect, that means to show respect
To show respect, okay?
So, first and foremost, what can you do?
So what is okay to do? So you can then everywhere in nature, regardless of who No matter who owns the land, to own the land means that, for example, if I am a landowner,
then it means that I have land that is mine, that is, I own that land. And everyone who has
a garden
owns the land
around the house.
So where the garden is, you own your garden.
But you can also, for example, own forest.
So you own the land that the forest is on.
But in Sweden you have the right to be on the land that someone else owns.
So you can walk there, run, cycle, ride horses, ski and so on You can also say that you are camping, but camping means more that you are at a campingsite
A deserted campingsite
But to camp means that you set up a tent And you can tent maybe one or two nights in the same place
And you can pick berries, pick flowers, pick mushrooms
You can also take dry twigs for example from the ground if you want to make a fire
you can go and find dry twigs
so twigs that grow on the trees
that you use as fuel for a fire
and you can bat swim in lakes, you can paddle, paddle kayaking, paddle canoeing, go boat
in lakes and other waterways.
So waterways are lakes, rivers and so on.
So that you can do. So that means that you're quite free in Sweden in nature.
And that's a big difference from many other countries.
For example here in Spain, where I live, so I live in Valencia, Spain
And here you absolutely can't
tent in nature where you want
You have to be at a specific place
So you can only tent at very specific places You have to book a place to stay, you have to book your place of stay
and you have to send in a document and you answer a lot of questions
But you don't have to do that in Sweden There are camping sites and campsites
But it's also often ok to camp in nature
But there are some rules, of course
And it's very important to follow these rules, of course
So what can you not do?
What is not okay to do?
You can't leave garbage in nature
Garbage, soaps, waste, so say that you have some food with you
and you have a package, for example plastic, paper
and you have to take that with you home
so you can't throw garbage in nature.
So all garbage, all waste,
so if you have a bag of candy,
you have to bring it home, of course.
Because we have to leave nature as we found it, so when we come to a place
Okay, we leave the place as it was when we came, so we leave no scrap
And it also applies to do your needs. number two on the toilet then you must not just do it anywhere
but you have to dig a hole and cover afterwards and so on so that should not
either do just out out that is to do to do, you can't do that
You can't pick up bright flowers, bright mushrooms and so on
So bright means that you simply can't touch this species for example, a plant or a mushroom can be bright
so often if it's a threatened species
for example, if it's a plant that is threatened
that is unusual, which does not exist anymore
Sometimes you can enlighten that kind of person
and then it is forbidden to take, to hurt, to do something
So yes, you can not do that
So yeah, you can't do that. And you can't break branches from living trees.
Or just generally damage nature. You can't damage nature.
So you can't go to a living tree and just break off branches and things like that.
So you can't destroy nature. You can't disturb animals. And that applies to both wild animals and tame animals.
So you can't disturb, I mean, say you see an animal.
You can't start running and barking and scaring people, you have to show respect for the animals and leave them alone.
Don't disturb them. You can't enter a person's home, or close to someone's house
So it's ok to be on someone's land, but not close to their house
so
that is called a
home-freedom zone
an area where
you can be private
you have your own house
and other people can't disturb you
Can't come too close
So you shouldn't go into someone's garden
The garden is like a garden
The area around the private housing
And you can't either
walk over
a field with growing vegetables
and say that
someone is growing
wheat
or growing
whatever it is So you can't cross that field
That field for example
Or if it's animals that are hunting And of course there are national parks and nature reserves.
And it's specific areas that can have specific rules. You can't tent where you want to, you can only tent at a specific place
Which is the land for tents
Or you can't make a fire that you can't make a fire
so these nature reserves and national parks
they can have specific rules
but
otherwise it was
like
the most things you can't do
so don't leave trash in the nature
Don't pick up bright flowers and mushrooms
Don't break branches from
living trees or
or in another way damage the nature
Don't disturb animals
Don't go into people's tombs
or near their homes.
Do not go over the fields and the land of the deer.
And just know that if you are in a nature reserve or a national park, then it can be even stricter rules
and
some other rules
to follow
it is, as I said
if you need to go to the toilet
especially number 2
then you have to dig a hole
And make number 2 in that hole
A hole in the ground
So you dig a hole in the ground
And there you align your needs And then you cover the rest of the group.
And that includes papers. If you have used paper, you have to choose a separate place, a place where other people don't see, don't
are and so on.
Another rule, if you have a dog with you, you always have to have the dog under control
Especially if there are animals nearby Then it's very important to keep the dog under control
Another rule is if you ok to fish in certain lakes, I think it is the five big lakes in Sweden, for example Vänern and Väten where it is ok to fish you need a condition or a fishing card.
So a fishing card is like a card that you buy
and then you get to fish and add a certain weight to the fish.
I don't know, I've never done that before, but it might be like, okay, you buy a card
and you get to fish 10 kilos
with that card, for example.
And of course, as I said,
keeping distance to private
apartments. So don't go
too close to someone's house or don't go into someone's garden.
And then there are some rules when it comes to lighting.
Okay, to make fire in nature has of course a lot of risks. You get to fire, but there are many different rules of course.
So generally, if you fire in nature, it must be in a safe way and that does not harm nature.
So it must be safe, for example, do not burn if it is very dry in nature So if it hasn't rained for a long time
and it's dry, that it's not wet
then it's dry
then you shouldn't light a fire
And especially on the weather forecast, they often say that if there is a fire risk, then you absolutely must not set fire
It can also be forbidden in the specific area against setting burn, for example in national parks and nature reserves
You can't burn on mountain slopes So...
Yes, on where there is a rock, the mountain
where there is a rock, the mountain
So I thought that you are on a place and you see the mountain
that there is a rock
not small rocks, but you see the mountain
on a cliff by the sea There you won't get fire because then the mountain can break
so it can break
Another very important thing is that the fire must be completely dry
when you leave the place and you can't burn plastic, you can't burn...
I mean, the only thing you can burn is wood and paper, but not plastic, not packaging, ok. Things like that.
And you can't leave the place with half-burned stuff.
Say you've burned some paper and there's still some paper left.
Ok, that's not ok.
Everything has to burn up
Trees, branches and branches are natural materials
So you can leave that out
But generally, if you're burning you have to be extra careful
And not hurt the nature and not take risks
And then there are some rules for tenting
So as I said, you can tent in the nature
If it is not specifically forbidden in that area.
But generally you can camp and that's ok.
You can camp max one or two nights in the same place.
And it must be max one or two tents So it can't be a big group
It can't be a long time
You can't leave the trash
Don't go to the toilet so that it's visible
It can't be......like lying...
I mean...
Generally
Leave the place that it looked like when you came
So don't harm the nature, don't leave trash and stuff like that
Don't disturb
It's generally about showing respect, not to disturb and not to disturb.
So if you follow those rules, you can be very free in nature in Sweden. I think there are other countries that also have this right to all the people,
I don't really know, but this is how it works in Sweden. And that's fantastic, really. It works as long as people follow the rules and show their opinions and not disturb and not destroy
So that was the episode about the right of everyone
Hope that was interesting, please leave a comment what you think about that
Before we end, I just want to say that we have open for applications to our language lock-in bootcamp, ok? And this is like a retreat
where you live your life
in Swedish, 100% in Swedish
for 9 days
So you bathe in the Swedish language
You only get to speak Swedish
You only listen in Swedish
All activities are in Swedish, all activities are in Swedish
And you bathe in the language until it feels natural to speak Swedish
Do you want this experience to really bathe in the Swedish language and be forced to only speak Swedish for 9 days and at the same time have a fantastic semester
So, the semester is still horse production and things like that.
horse production and such things.
So if that sounds like something for you,
then the applications are open. So apply now and see if you are a good match for this.
Because we have certain criteria for being able to be part of it.
So I leave a link in the description
So follow the link, apply and make sure to get your place as soon as possible before it gets full
That was all for me today
Take care, see you next week!
