Now here's a quick word from our sponsors
before tonight's episode begins.
This recording is specifically designed
to guide you into a deep state of sleep,
using your body's natural relaxation processes and systems.
As such, do not listen to this recording
while driving or operating machinery.
Only listen, once you're in a safe place,
comfortable and ready to fall asleep.
Hey there, my friend.
Welcome to sleep escape.
Find a comfortable position there, in bed,
and just let go of everything else.
This is your time.
You've earned this moment for rest.
Our bodies are designed.
are designed to sleep.
And this sleep session
will help you express that natural design within yourself
so that sleep becomes effortless
so that you look forward to this time
each and every night.
And all we're going to do here
is a simple breathing exercise
to help you wind down
followed by a full body relaxation and then a visualization,
which will help you sink deeper and deeper.
Let me remind you that we all fall asleep in our own way and on our own time.
And there's nothing right or wrong about how anyone finds sleep.
that when you put yourself in the right circumstances,
like you're about to do with this sleep session,
your body and mind will drift off naturally
without you even having to try.
If you haven't already,
gently, softly, and slowly,
close your eyes.
And we'll begin with a very simple set of deep breaths.
And this technique is designed to take your body out of an active and awake state and restful state.
So inhale, nice and slow, in through your nose.
Feel your chest and your belly rise.
Exhale.
and allow that exhale to be even slower, even longer than the inhale.
That's it.
Again, inhaling, feeling yourself, fill with air, and then exhaling, allowing any tension
or worries to leave your body with the breath, even slower.
and even deeper, and then exhaling, just letting the air fall back out. That's right. Just a few more,
inhale and exhale, letting it all go and noticing how each breath takes you one step closer
toward relaxation. Last breath in, blowing your breath.
to settle back into its own natural rhythm now.
It doesn't matter what pace or depth it's at.
What's most important is that it feels effortless.
Just notice that smooth and soothing pattern rise and fall of each breath.
We'll begin to relax the body in a systematic way.
part by part and will begin at the crown of the head.
So you can start by bringing your awareness just to that area at the top of your head.
And imagine as though you're turning this switch off for that part of your body now.
And when you flip that switch, turning it off, you feel the muscles.
soften and continuing on to the forehead.
To the muscles completely, the eyebrows, the eyelids and the cheeks, let go.
Easing in to relaxation and feeling it spread into your jaw and noticing now how your whole face.
is completely softened, completely relaxed, completely at ease.
So continuing to move that sense of relaxation down into your throat and your neck,
releasing any stiffness, it spreads across your shoulders,
and them to sink, heavy, and relaxed to your arm.
arms, your elbows, your forearms, and into your hands all the way to the tip of each and every finger.
As feel as your arms relax completely, softening deeper and deeper down, bringing your attention now,
to your chest, allowing it to soften, as if all
of the stress and weight has been lifted feel your heartbeat steady and calm out this wave of relaxation
to flow down your back laxing each and every muscle each and every vertebrae feeling your belly
soften and your hips sinking all the way into the bed. Now pause for a second and just notice
what it feels like to have your entire upper body completely turned off, completely relaxed,
and completely at ease. And now continuing with that wave of relaxation,
as it spreads into your thighs, feeling them soften and spreading through your knees and into your calves,
your ankle, your feet, and all the way to the tip of each and every one of your toes.
Whole body is relaxed.
Just notice what that feels like.
Notice how even this simple practice has moved you that one step closer towards a good night's rest.
So imagine now that there's a switch for your entire body.
And when you turn it off, everything settles into complete relaxation.
So go ahead.
and flip that switch now, turning your entire being off for the night.
You can let go now.
You are safe here.
You are supported.
And all that's left to do is to continue along that path, sinking deeper and deeper within,
heavier and heavier with each passing.
breath and I don't know whether you may be asleep already or whether you're in one of the
earlier states of deep and calming relaxation but either way it doesn't really matter because you'll fall asleep
exactly when your mind and body are ready.
They know how to sleep.
They know exactly how much sleep you need.
So just let go of any worries, frustrations, or nagging thoughts that might be bothering
you or have you concerned about when.
or how you'll fall asleep.
And instead, try to cultivate a sense of gratitude.
Gratitude simply for this time to rest, to be by yourself,
to enjoy your own company as you continue to make your way across the boundary from consciousness,
to unconsciousness.
And if you'd like,
one thing that can help guide you
in this journey towards sleep
is to picture in your mind's eye
an elevator
standing before you.
And this is no ordinary elevator.
This is the elevator
of your mind.
It's what can,
connects the different layers of your brain, and here, where you meet it now, is on the top floor.
This is your highest, most active mind, the bustling office, most connected with the outside world,
and all the way at the bottom floor is the deepest, humest, most wise,
and peaceful level of your brain.
And it's on that bottom floor where sleep resides and knowing that this elevator is completely calm
and perfectly safe.
You step inside and allow the door to close behind you.
And with your next breath, you press the button.
marked down and slowly smoothly.
The elevator begins to descend,
and as it moves down and further down,
you notice how the higher levels
filled with the noise, the hustle and bustle
and all the thoughts of the day
are moving farther and farther away.
The chatter, the to-do lists, the worries.
It's all left behind.
And as you leave these top floors of your mind,
you feel yourself sinking deeper and deeper.
Your breath moving slower and slower.
Your thoughts.
fewer and fewer.
And you continue going down even further now.
And with each level, you drift deeper into calm down.
Each floor quieter than the last, darker.
And as the elevator continues to descend, your conscious mind.
softens and gives way as the deeper part of you takes over the part of you that knows how to sleep,
the part that doesn't try. It simply is, and you notice that you're nearing the lowest floors now.
Here, time slows, dissolve, and I'll just.
all that remains is stillness, comfort, and the pull of deep and healing sleep.
And finally, the elevator settles and stops the lowest floor.
The doors open, revealing quiet, restful, and ambient space.
This is where sleep resides.
So you step out and make yourself comfortable here in the deepest corners of your mind.
There's nothing more you need to do.
You have arrived and sleep will come easily now whenever your mind and body are ready.
And as you spend more time in this deepest level of your mind, you may find that you long for it.
Each day, looking forward to this time for rest, more and more.
As here, there is no effort, there are no problems.
There's nothing to change or fix.
There's only peace and acceptance.
So now you can just rest in this deepest corner of your mind.
And to further aid your transition into the land of dreams.
I'll simply repeat a series of sleep affirmations.
in the background.
And you should feel free to let go and fall asleep.
