Now here's a quick word from our sponsors before tonight's episode begins.
Are you struggling to quiet, erasing mind?
A seemingly endless stream of thoughts, worries, anxieties.
Well, if so, you've arrived at exactly the right place.
because this sleep meditation is here to help gently quiet those racing thoughts,
soften any anxieties or worries,
and remind you of a deeply important truth,
that everything is okay,
but tomorrow can be better than that you have a role to play
in shaping that better future.
But tonight's not about doing anything, and it's not about fixing everything.
It's not about forcing positivity or pretending that life is perfect.
Instead, this is time to rest and time to remember that life moves in waves.
That progress isn't a straight line.
And that even when things feel uncertain, they're still unfolding forward, quiet.
mind and fall into sleep tonight. You can just find a comfortable position and rest your attention
on my voice. I'll guide you through a meditative wind down involving some slow and deep breaths,
along with a body scan to instill relaxation, after which an uplifting visualization and
reassuring sleep affirmations will offer you a long, slow, and soft runway to land into the
world of dreams in your own way and on your own time. So whenever you feel that gentle tug
of sleep, just let go into the knowing that everything is okay and tomorrow will be better.
Now, I encourage you to keep your eyes open for just a moment, resting your gaze somewhere there on the wall or the ceiling in front of you.
And I know that can seem somewhat counterintuitive.
But this is a very effective way to help you relax and fall asleep, as I'll simply count down from five to one.
And over the course of that countdown, you may feel your eyes grow heavier and heavier,
such that by the time I reach one, you'll no longer be able to resist the desire to close your eyes.
Starting now, at five, just resting your gaze there.
At anything that draws your attention, making sure not to strain the eyes.
as we come to four and you feel that growing weight slowly building around your eyes as we approach
three and your islands beginning to flicker now under that growing weight and tiredness making our
way to two and you can barely resist that desire to close your eyes and you might even only
be seeing out of your eyes through the tiniest little sliver but holding out for just another moment
as we finally reach one and you can no longer resist so you allow your eyes to close and you feel a sense of
relaxation spreading through your eyes and your forehead your cheeks and your jaw just feeling
all of the muscles of your face.
Softening all the way down.
Now let's take a moment for some deep breaths.
And you can just follow my voice.
Starting by letting all of your air out for five,
three, two, one.
Hold.
Seven, six, five,
four,
three,
two one seven six five three two one inhale five three three two one and exhale eight seven six five three two one and exhale eight seven six five three two
Three, two, one.
Keep going just like that.
Inhale, exhale.
Sletting all of the air fall back out.
Allowing your breath to return to its own natural rhythm and depth.
Whatever feels easy and effortless to you.
No resistance.
Each breath, collecting just 1% of the tension in your body,
body with the inhale and expelling that 1% of tension with the exhale.
And in this way, you're moving slowly and steadily, but ever closer to complete relaxation,
surrender, and softness.
Hope with that as you take the next inhale.
Just imagine collecting all of the tension in your face and your head and your neck.
And when you exhale, just releasing all of that tension, feeling those muscles, relax.
And on your next breath, doing the same with your shoulders.
Collecting that tension, exhaling and physically feeling as your shoulders relaxed down.
and down into the bed to your right arm collecting any tension and then feeling the release
and letting go on the exhale into the left arm inhaling and feeling that release to your back
your chest and torso collecting any and all tension there and when you exhale feeling your back relax
and every vertebra melting down into the bed.
Doing the same with your hips.
Then exhaling and softening down.
Moving next to the right leg and just enjoying that sense of release with the exhale.
As we shift lastly to the left leg.
Hailing again to collect the tension.
Then exhale.
and letting it all go.
One last time to collect any remaining tension that you sense anywhere in your body,
gathering up all of the last bits of stress or worry or anxiety,
and then exhaling, releasing them from your mind and your being, really feeling yourself,
soften deeper and deeper down, maybe even beginning to feel yourself light and weightless,
floating as you give up all resistance and simply exist here in this moment, fully supported,
fully at rest, with nothing to do, nowhere to go, no problems to solve, no answers to find,
And that's such a nice feeling, isn't it?
And we get the gift of this time every day as we lay down in bed at night.
Although perhaps this time hasn't always felt like peace and quiet for you because of erasing
mind or worried thoughts.
And if so, that's okay.
has no need to feel frustrated or increase your amount of worry due to that.
Because you see, life has a rhythm to it like night and day.
A natural rise and fall like waves rolling to the shore.
Sometimes the wave lifts you up and it feels effortless.
Other times it pulls you back.
which requires patience and balance.
But even when the water retreats,
the waves are always moving forward.
And there's a really helpful idea in this simple truth
because so much of our anxieties and worries and racing thoughts
come from believing that life should move in straight lines.
Progress should be constant.
that happiness should be permanent, and that any setback means failure.
But life doesn't work that way. It never has. And thinking of it as such can put us into a cycle
of worry if you ever find that you're in one such cycle. It may be helpful to remember
that life and growth happen in an undulating pattern.
They go up and down.
Two steps forward.
One step back.
Learning.
Adjusting.
Integrating.
Evolving.
That step back isn't a mistake.
It's part of the movement.
Part of the dance.
The wave comes to shore.
And it must retreat.
You see, life isn't something to be conquered.
or completed. It isn't a finish line waiting somewhere in the future. Life is something
you participate in. Moment by moment, it's a dance, and the music is always changing. It's never
quite the same, but when you stop fighting against the rhythm, and instead you dance with it,
in its ever-evolving way.
A great deal of peace returns,
and a great deal of joy ensues.
And all of this comes when you stop demanding
and expecting certainty,
because you don't need to control every wave to move forward.
Remember, they're all always moving forward.
So all you need to do is learn to ride
them. So tonight, let go of the idea that everything has to be resolved right now. You don't need
all of the answers to rest tonight. You don't need guarantees to sleep. Tomorrow doesn't need to be
perfect, to be better, to be joyful, to be a beautiful dance. Because the truth is this.
You do have power and influence over the direction of your life.
But where we get confused is that we think our power comes through force.
But no, comes through attention.
What we choose to focus on grows.
The plants we water become flowers.
And what you let go of loses its grip.
moment you have the choice on how to direct your life like choices toward health
or kindness toward peace or self-respect even choosing to rest tonight is one of
those choices and it doesn't require you to fall asleep instantaneously in
the direction of rest because life improves not in suddenly
But through the accumulation of moments, a thought softened here, a boundary honored there,
a moment of gratitude as you lay in bed on a quiet night.
So my friend, have no fear that you are behind or that you are broken because these are
often confused with what we actually truly are, which is constantly in motion. And even if there are
parts of life that feel messy or unclear, remember that these are contributing to the dance,
teaching you what you care about, what matters. They're showing you what no longer serves you.
And they're guiding you toward what aligns.
And remember that you don't have to carry everything forward with you.
Some things were only meant for a chapter, for a phase, for a lesson.
And they're not the whole story.
And when you find these things that you're ready to let go of,
Remember that just as there's always a wave moving forward towards shore, there's always a wave
simultaneously retreating so you can let go of them whenever you're ready and allow those things
which no longer serve you to be carried away as you move breath by breath just that bit closer
to sleep tonight, making your way there, in your own time, and along your own path.
You can imagine letting go of what no longer supports your peace and happiness.
Any old worries, passing anxieties, any unnecessary self-criticism, or any unfilled
expectations. Just let go of them and allow the receding wave to carry them back out to see as your own
forward moving wave pulls you towards progress and the joyful dance of life. And as you let go,
you may find the creation of space. In this space, you can allow for trust, for people, for people.
peace living in and enjoying the present moment because even right now there's so much to enjoy
the relaxation and ease in your body.
These few moments just for yourself with no one to bother you.
The enjoyment of this moment reminds you that tomorrow doesn't need to
arrive all at once that it will unfold step by step moment by moment, death by breath,
and choice by choice. And you are an intricate part of that unfolding. There's nothing being
rushed. There's nothing being forced. There is simply this happening of life. And this life
is happening with you and for you, not to you.
So as you drift deeper and deeper, just that bit more.
With each passing moment, you can allow these positive affirmations to settle into your heart
and your mind offering you a long and soft runaway.
