Now here's a quick word from our sponsors before tonight's episode begins.
Hey there, my friend.
Welcome to Sleep Escape.
And to this relaxing bedtime story in which you'll fall asleep in a cozy and warm,
tent nestled in a beautiful forest as rain patters outside all night long so settle in to a comfortable
position in bed allow the world to grow soft and quiet as you take a slow and deep breath in
sighing it back out through your mouth and allowing your eyes to gently close
all the way down.
If you haven't already, let any thoughts, worries, or concerns from the day.
Begin to drift farther and farther away.
Let's take a moment just to wind down and relax your body before our story begins.
So inhale deeply.
filling all the way up into your lungs and expanding down into your belly and then exhale nice and slow
extending that exhale so that it's longer than the inhale let's do that a few more times now inhale
collecting any tension or worries and exhale nice and slow nice and long sending those thoughts and worries
far away again inhale collecting any tension and exhale softening down into your bed and if you'd like
you can keep taking long and slow breaths just like that as you allow the muscles of your face
to soften as you relax your jaw, your shoulders, and you feel a wave of softness,
spreading all the way through your body.
And as you continue to breathe slowly and gently.
At your own natural pace, you can simply imagine that each exhale releases the day just a bit more.
Each breath, each moment, guiding you deeper, softer, more relaxed, and closer to sleep.
And I don't know whether you'll fall asleep faster.
focusing on your own breath, or by listening to the sound of my voice, or the words that I say,
but I do know that we all fall asleep in our own way and on our own time. So let go of the
expectation that you need to fall asleep by any certain moment and simply follow the sound of my
voice, allowing your imagination to wander as you begin to envision yourself nestled inside of a small
and cozy tent deep in the heart of a peaceful forest. The night is cool. The air is crisp and clean
and outside, a steady rain falls through the trees, each drop landing with a soft pitter-patter
on the canvas of the tent.
It's a hypnotic sound, you think to yourself, like nature's lullaby, and although it may be
raining outside, inside your tent, you're safe, warm.
and dry, cradled like a cocoon in your big, fluffy sleeping bag,
and you can smell that faint scent of pine needles and damp earth drifting through the air
as a little lantern glowing beside you in the tent, casting a golden light across the soft,
colorful walls of fabric. It flickers gently here and there, and as you feel the weight of your
eyes, heavier and heavier. You flip the switch, turning the lantern off, leaving only you,
and the rhythm of the rain. And you notice how, even though the rain is steady,
It's not stagnant. It drifts side to side.
Closer and farther, signaling the constant movement of the clouds high above.
And as you snuggle deeper and deeper into your cozy sleeping bag and your mind drifts farther and farther.
from the happenings of your day, you begin to imagine the world beyond your tent where the forest extends.
Beneath the steady hush of the rain, where tall trees rise like ancient guardians.
Reaching towards the sky, rain drops sliding down the bark of their trunks in shimmering trails.
and gathering around the roots in little puddles only to disappear into the moss-covered ground.
You imagine how every leaf catches the raindrops only to let them fall once again, creating a thousand tiny rhythms, all blending into one soothing symphony here and there.
A foggy mist floats above the ground, and between the trunks of the trees, soft, silvery, like the breath of the forest.
It moves like a living thing, curling around the tree trunks, wrapping the forest floor, and a delicate veil, and not far away.
A family of deer
Has found shelter
Beneath the wide canopy
Of an old oak tree
You imagine them nestled
Close together
Warm and cozy
Their fur
Staying dry
As the old oak tree
Guides the droplets of rain
Away
One of the fauns
stirs for a moment, stretching its slender legs before snuggling itself, more tightly up against
its mother's side. Their breathing moves in unison, and it blends in harmony with the rhythm of the rain
and not far away. Beneath a fallen log, a tiny little chipmunk.
is curled into a ball.
Its nose tucked into its belly,
already dreaming peacefully.
While the rain drums gently,
overhead and deep,
within the hollow of a cedar tree,
a mother owl,
watchfully guards her nest,
eyes, gleaming.
In the dim, shrouded light,
reflecting the glow of a distant flash of lightning.
Far off beyond the forest, so distant,
that there's no sound of thunder here,
only that steady patter of rain.
And after a moment, the owl's eyes shift to something else.
There's a rustling through the underbrush,
a fox adding a little extra padding to its bed.
It slips its head out of the burrow for just a moment before retreating back down and curling up in its soft den of leaves.
For the night and before you know it, the fox's fluffy fur is rising and falling.
More slowly, with each and every breath, her kits snuggled tightly against her and across a clearing from the fox.
A stream babbles softly through the forest, carrying rainwater downhill.
In slow, silvery ribbons, frogs are hidden here and there among the reeds, hoping to catch.
one of the crickets humming in the distance.
But there's not much activity tonight.
Indeed, even the crickets are mostly at rest.
A reminder of why the rain can feel so comforting.
It's a natural signal to relax, to recover,
to live in harmony with the rhythms of the world.
around us. And in this way, if you're still conscious of my voice, maybe you allow yourself
to relax even deeper and deeper down, imagining yourself comfortable, comfortable, cozy,
and at rest in your own tent here in the rainy forest, envisioning,
looking down on yourself as you sleep here and noticing all of the surroundings,
the trees, the swaying of the canopy in the wind, the constant motion of the clouds above
as the light of the moon glows as though it's trying to reach through the clouds,
the light breeze moving through the forest like a sigh, carrying the scent of rain and pine.
Deeper into the night, and if you listen closely, you can almost hear the forest breathing with you, the rise and fall of your chest, seeming to match its timeless rhythm, and as you settle,
more closely towards sleep, watching your tent and the forest from above,
you begin to appreciate how everything around you is wrapped in the same peaceful stillness,
the same rain that taps against your tent is also lulling all of the living beings in the forest
to sleep, the deer, the chipmunk, the fox, the owl. And in this way, you are connected to everything,
to the vast web of life all around you, each breath of air you take, each drop of water on the roof of your
tent here in this peaceful rainy forest you belong you are connected you are whole you are exactly
where you're meant to be in the peace of the night soothed by the sound of the rain cradled
by the forest and as your breath begins to move more slowly
And you continue to drift deeper and deeper.
Closer and closer to sleep.
Each inhale fills you with just 1% more calm.
And each exhale releases just 1% more tension.
That's all it takes.
And in a few moments, you'll be,
completely calm, completely relaxed. So allow yourself to melt deeper into bed as the rhythm of the
rain washes over you. And for now, I'll repeat a series of affirmations just to help you sink
that bit deeper towards sleep. Are safe. You are loved.
You are whole. You are calm. Are at peace. You are relaxing. Deeper and deeper. You have nothing to do and nothing to worry about. You can let go now. You are exactly where you're meant to be. You are worthy. You are treasured. You are valued. You are enough.
