Slow Baja - Travel Talk With Slow Baja We Tell You About Our Stay At The Beautiful Tesoro Resort Los Cabos
Episode Date: March 23, 2021In today's Travel Talk with Slow Baja, we sit down for a quick chat with Marlen Ahumada, Sales Director of the Tesoro Resorts Los Cabos. On the 2021 BajaXL Rally, we stayed at the Tesoro, an...d we were amazed by our accommodations, the hospitality, and the entire Tesoro experience. An adult beverage greeted us upon arrival as we booked the all-inclusive plan. After dropping our bags in our marina-view Junior Suite, we dined on surf and turf tacos at the Lighthouse Restaurant. One of four restaurants on the hotel grounds, the Lighthouse, is located on the marina walk. The food was tasty, the drinks plentiful, and the view and people-watching were terrific. We took a walk around the marina and downtown after dinner and would love to come back to take in the legendary Cabo bar scene -only a short walk away. The breakfast buffet at the Sky Pool had all the options that one would want, and Ted and I enjoyed watching the sport-fishing boats head out. After breakfast, we sought out Marlen to talk to her about the Tesoro Los Cabos Resort and the current promotional offerings. All good things must come to an end, and we had to get on our way, too. Reluctantly, we packed up Slow Baja, vowing that we would return soon. The Tesoro Los Cabos is Slow Baja approved! Hey, this is Michael Emery.
Thanks for tuning into the Slow Baja.
This podcast is powered by Tequila Fortaleza,
handmade in small batches,
and hands down, my favorite tequila.

Did you always want to see Baja racing up close and personal?
You need to join Slow Baja in the Nora Mexican-1000,
April 23rd through 30th.
The Safari class is your way to get your street legal four-wheel drive vehicle up close and into the action.

Hey, this is Michael Emery with Slow Baja, and we are on a travel talk in the beautiful Tesoro Hotel in Cabo San Lucas, right at the beautiful Marina.
You can hear the water fountains going in the background.
I'm sitting here.
Well, let's get right into it.
You tell me where we are and who you are and why we're sitting here.
Hello.
My name is Marlene.
I'm the director of sales of Tesoro Los Cabos.
Our hotel is right here at the Marina in Los Cabos.
We are very close to any activity, any night life or to the mall.
We are very close to all those places.
also we have a great location, we have around 256 rooms, and the 80% of the rooms are facing to the
Marina. They have Marina view, and we have different kinds of rooms, standard rooms, Marina rooms,
junior suites, master suites, and most of them are facing to the Marina in Los Cabos.
Well, I can attest you after a hard week on the road in the old Slow Baja 1971 Land Cruiser
with my amigo Ted Donovan, the Baja visitor.
We came in last night at about 8 o'clock.
We're greeted with an adult beverage in the lobby
and got on to dropping our bags and having a beautiful dinner,
beautiful shower, beautiful rooms, spectacular view of the marina.
And after dinner, we got a little walking, and it's all right here.
Everything is so close.
Yes, you can walk around here,
and also you can find many casual restaurants at the barina
Also, we have a restaurant right here in front to the Marina, a lighthouse restaurants.
You can enjoy dinner for cocktails.
We have mixology.
We have you can enjoy on Saturday's live music here in these restaurants.
You don't need to take a taxi to go to the main places here like Cabo Guabo, Square Road, Mandala.
You can go walking and you will save in the table.
taxis. You will save that money for you. You'll save that money for a fine tequila or a margarita.
Yeah, you know, Ted and I are here on the all-inclusive plan. So you can you tell me a little bit
about the offerings here with the all-a-cart or all-inclusive. How does that work?
Okay, we have, we call Ibrid hotel. We have both plans here. We have the EPI and
Burface Plan and also we have the all-inclusive. We have three main restaurants, the guests,
they can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner,
and also all drinks included.
You can find all the packages in our website,
www.
Tesoro Los Cabos.com.
We have there many offers,
and also we have some packages with the wall washing tour included.
Sometimes we have the sunset tour included in our rates,
and these are great packages starting from three nights.
And for two people,
we have those inclusions. You can choose a breakfast plan or all-inclusive plan.
Well, I can attest to the cocktails were lovely. The dinner was fantastic.
I had the surf and turf tacos, which were wonderful, and the guacamole starter,
which was terrific and fresh and beautiful.
And Ted's dinner looked hearty. And our breakfast today was terrific.
You know, we can't wait to drive our old Land Cruiser down to Baja,
and when we go, we go with Baja bound insurance.
Their website's fast and easy to use, Baja Baja Bound Insurance, serving Mexico Travelers since 1994.
Again, sadly, honestly, of course, we're recording in the beginning of February.
It's COVID times, so the hotel is rather sparsely populated, which is, you know, sad but realistic.
What is your high season here?
When are people here?
In a normal year.
Normal year, yeah, exactly.
Our high season is starting in the middle of December and ends on April and in the beginning
on May because you know the high season also comes with a world washing experience in Los
Cabos and most of the wells coming in late November and that's why we have many people
coming for that's a spectacular experience and also Los Cabos has many things to do but
The most high season is December to April.
And tell me about what sets the El Tesoro apart.
Tell me about the El Tesoro as a brand.
We have three hotels in Mexico, Tesoro Los Cabos, Tesoro Manzanillo, and Tesoro Xstapa.
It is a small brand, but we have the other hotels, Extape and Masanillo.
They are completely all-inclusive.
Tesoro Los Cabos is the only hotel in the brand.
we have Everett like EP and Breakfast Plan and All Inclusive.
But this is a company is growing and we think we can open more hotels after this.
Yeah.
Sadly, these are tough times in the travel industry, but I can attest that the
hospitality here has been spectacular.
So I hope that once things open up more and people,
are vaccinated and they'll get back to traveling and seeing the warm smiles and the warm sun and the great food and
and coming back here to Cabo San Lucas. So let's wrap up the entire offering of this hotel one more time.
Let's go through it again. How many hotel rooms? How many restaurants, the full package deal, swimming pools, live music?
Let's go through it top to bottom one more time.
Okay. Our Tesoro Los Cabots is located at the Marina.
in Cabo San Lucas. We have 256 rooms and we offer different plants like EP, breakfast plan,
and all-inclusive plan. Also, we have three main restaurants, Vista Roofs, is like a rooftop,
and we have a sky pool, a pool, and a pool bar. And we offer there the breakfast, lunch,
and dinner at the sky pool. And Vista
roof restaurant, sorry, we offer the breakfast buffet, which is included in our plan.
Which I had today, and it was spectacular. Yeah, it's really lovely. And we have a lighthouse
restaurant on the Marina, just in front to the yacht and all the action here in Los Cabos.
And also we have a Mexican restaurant called Agave Restaurant. That's for Mexican dishes.
Also, we have a small pool that we call the, it's a coffee shop in front of the front desk.
You can enjoy their coffee, drinks, et cetera.
And also, we have a huge convention center.
We have some groups during the year, too.
We offer weddings.
We offer any type of groups, celebrations, bachelor,
Scholarerz and you can enjoy everything very close to the main activities.
Walking distance, walking distance all the nightlife.
You're not going to be a half hour away waiting for your Uber to come and pick you up
at the gate of something that they can't get into and canceling.
Yeah.
Not that I know anything about that experience.
Yeah, so best way for people to find out about your hotel online, where can they find you
and where's the best way for them to find the current promotions going on?
The website to find Tesoro Los Cabos is
www.com.
You can find all the promotions we have during the day,
during the year, sorry.
And we have some packages, for example,
night for the wall washing, we have a tour included.
If you reserve three nights or more,
you will receive a complementary tour.
And also we have a sunset tour included.
During the season, the high season, we offer that package too.
And currently with COVID, you've got some incredible prices on at this hotel.
Yeah, you will find race starting from $80 a night with breakfast included.
Or sometimes we have huge promotions and specials for specific holidays in U.S.
You can find our promotions there.

I was lucky enough to wear test some items
on my 3,000-mile Baja X-X-L trip.
vertical jacket, the California shirt, which is a beautiful flannel shirt. I call it the Baja California
shirt and some white oak, beautiful, salvage denim jeans. Put all that stuff on to make me look good in
Baja, and I never took it off. I was wearing that stuff for 10 days straight. That vertical jacket
is a handsome, handsome jacket in the truck, under the truck, at dinner. Taylor Stitch, clothes that are
meant to wear in, not out. Folks, you made it this far. I got to ask you, please help us out.
