Everyone craves a little wiggle room from time to time.
So today we're reacting to the Internet's latest side hustle quests.
I'm McGiver meets Bear Grills, meets Mike Rowe.
You know what, Winston tried doing this in college.
What?
We weren't dating during this.
He told me about it later.
It's probably for the best.
I have a little bit of tea.
Hey guys, I'm Rachel Cruz.
I'm George Camel.
And this is Smart Money Happy Hour.
Is that Basil?
Basel?
Boo!
Basel, Basel.
That's not the Basel.
that's the Irish whiskey talking.
You think so?
I know so.
Taste basely.
Well, this is the show
with two friends
who happen to be money experts
talk about which you're talking about.
So everything from pop culture,
current events, and money.
But first, let's talk basil.
We are sipping on
a golden veil is what it's called.
V-A-L-E.
Which I think is how they spell
like Vail, Colorado.
Yes.
Don't know where the name came from.
You came from Vail, Colorado?
Probably not.
Stick around until the end.
We're going to give you our rating
and reveal the cost per glass.
All right, Rachel, back to school is here.
Somehow, we're already here.
Which means before long you'll be buying Halloween costumes,
booking Thanksgiving travel, buying Christmas presents,
and then you're already into 2028 somehow.
Can you believe that?
Just it flies over and over.
Have you seen those clips where all the news anchors are like,
can you believe it?
It's already July.
Like 40 of them at the same time, like they all planned it.
That's how I feel.
That's all I feel.
Well, one thing I do know when kids do go back to school,
there's a lot of stay-at-home parents
that are maybe on the debt journey
or they're trying to save up for something.
They're like, hey, how can I make some extra cash?
And we thought, we can help them out.
We can help with that.
We can do that.
No matter who you are, when you go back to school,
it's like your brain shifts back into like,
all right, I've got to be an adult now.
Yes.
Summer playtime is over.
It does.
We call it, like the second new year, too.
Yeah.
It feels like, oh my gosh, we're starting over.
Everyone schedules, routines.
We are back in it.
I love it.
No more play time, George.
Well, I want to know if you could make money doing literally anything as a side hustle, what would it be?
What would I do?
I'll say it can't be finance related.
That feels like a cheat.
Personal shopper.
Oh, that's good.
I was going to say MLM.
Or closet.
You would crush.
You selling Arbonne.
And it stops.
Oh, my gosh.
I would then be your enemy.
We wouldn't be friends anymore if I did.
Yeah, no, for sure.
You'd be everything I hate.
We'd be so, we'd be estranged.
You'd be calling women boss babes.
I know.
It'd be awful.
But you'd be a personal shopper?
I would do that.
Or I would be like a closet.
Pay me to come clean out your closet.
Oh, love that.
Is that like part of stylist too?
Yeah, sure.
All of it.
That'd be fun, wasn't it?
Okay, sure.
I like it.
What else would I do?
I think I could do like a kid.
Do I?
Hold on.
I'm trying to think if I really want to do this.
Watch your words, because I'll make you do it.
I know.
I'll make your dreams come true.
I know.
But like watching other people's kids
Like could I create something at my house
That like I would can make some extra money
Like an at home daycare
I know that's why I started going down there
Have you met other people's kids
I was like that's right
They're the worst
They're the worst
It is changing a diaper that's a kid that's not your kid
Oh gosh
Never would never
I could never
I know
It has to be like a niece or nephew
Would be the only
Yeah blood related
Yes
100%
But a stranger
Wait till you, like, clean up other kids, you know, throw ups and situate.
Oh, yeah.
What do you mean, wait?
Is there going to be a day where I have to do that on a regular basis?
Because Mia's going to have friends over playing.
They're all just vomiting?
What went wrong?
There will be a scenario, George, where you was a parent with a bunch of other kids
who have to step in and do things that you thought, oh, man.
No one's invited to my house.
Never, never.
What would you do?
I think I would be like a reviewer, like a critic.
Oh, a YouTube channel.
I could review, you know, coffees, tech items, everything.
Appliances.
Just like, you know, appliances, everything that you don't want to do the research on,
I'm going to go first and be brave.
That's good, George.
I like that.
Then you kind of have to find your niche.
And then you're like, oh, well, people really come to me a lot for this.
They want to know the latest Trader Joe's and Costco items, are they worth it?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You can trust my power.
We're going to go to George's channel and see.
That would be fun.
I like that, George.
That's good.
Those aren't really attainable side hustles for most people, like if you just started tomorrow.
So if you're looking to find a successful, sustainable side hustle that actually works for you,
we've got a great side hustle quiz that matches you with custom suggestions based on your skill, availability, and how much you want to get paid.
So it's a great resource that we will link in the show notes.
And because I'm the guy who goes first, I took the quiz.
Well, so did I.
Well, let's see your results.
Shall we see?
Oh, and I want to know, let us know in the comments what your research.
results are because there's kind of like different archetypes.
Yeah, it is pretty fun. I know. What are they? Do you know them off the top of your head?
I haven't memorized them. I think there's like four or five. Okay, let's, I'm going to say mine and you
say yours at the same time. All right, your side hustle results are ready? Look, it's my face.
Oh, you took your own quiz. That's funny. What can I say? Okay, the top, the top in the blue
box. Okay, got it. That's my title. I want to know yours. Ready, one, two, three. Limited
Edition. Limited edition. We're the same. We're the same. Towards we're at the same title. Okay, read it out loud.
the description is.
You have a lot of talent to offer.
Stop, stop.
This is like chat GPT.
But you're also busy.
We get it.
You have a life.
So the best side hustle for you is one that lets you use your skills and expertise to make money
and also doesn't require a ton of time throughout the week or let you pick up as many
or a few hours that your schedule allows.
Here are some options that would be a good fit for you.
Very nice.
Should we go back and forth?
I like that it assumes that I have a life.
I think I wrote this
So that's why I was very aspirational
That was so nice of you
It's like we get it you have a life
You got time
You limit an addition people
All right mine
Oh this is funny
Just read out some of your favorites
Indoor, outdoor
Home Maintenance and Repair
Now we're talking
Cleaning your gutters
That's a Rachel thing
Now you and Winston could be a great duo
You come into the organization
Winston replaces some light bulbs
Bada bada bada boom
We're making it
We're making it
A babysitting
There you go
Hey, y'all, that was like part of my hunch.
Oh, no, photography.
I'll take that one off your hands.
Yeah, yeah, we don't want to do that.
Or my speed.
Okay, what's your in-person ones?
I have the same.
For at-home side hustles, though, which is a great...
Wait, you have babysitting photography
and indoor, outdoor home maintenance and repair.
Yeah, it doesn't discriminate.
You wouldn't trust me with your children?
I could fix your Wi-Fi.
I could help old ladies with their iPhones,
increase the font size.
Tell me this.
My tire pressure was low yesterday, and I was like,
My pressure's low, and he's like, oh, okay, he gets out this little,
dun, d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d.
Do you got one?
I got one.
Good.
Okay.
See?
Home repair.
That one I can do.
Inflating a tire, I feel like I'm a diver, meets bear grills, meets micro.
combo of all three.
Oh, my gosh.
Okay.
At home side of us.
Yes.
I got freelancing, tutoring, and transcribing.
You're a pretty good typist.
Yeah, I can type fast.
A transcribster.
Transponster.
Named that show.
Friends.
Yes.
That tickled something in my brain.
I know.
I did a lot of freelancing.
They're like, what does he do?
And he's like, he's a, he's a trans sponsor.
Monica's like, that's not even a word.
No one knows what he did, right?
No, that was like the funny humor part of it.
No one knows what Chandler's job was.
What would you tutor if you were going to tutor someone on a subject?
Oh my gosh.
That's a good question.
I'm not sure what you know a lot about outside of like personal finance.
Books.
You would tutor them on books.
Okay. Got it.
History. I would do history.
Okay.
I love history. And I'm good at memorizing things.
Do we talk about the ecumenical councils? I can.
Oh, you know what?
I can go through church history right now.
Church history is a sweet spot for you.
Yeah, I can do that.
Yeah. Okay, what about you? What would you tutor?
Let's see. What am I?
I could probably do like writing, English type stuff.
Not a lot of reading, not a critical thinking.
Yeah.
More creative writing.
I wish I could say math, but as you're going to learn soon, Tennessee or all of America,
I don't know who it is.
That's what's called Common Core Math.
And it is the stupidest math that has ever been created on the face of this earth.
And I can barely help my fourth grader with it.
Like I'm like, everyone knows it.
Well, because it makes no sense.
So everyone's going to blow me up in the comments being like, now it's better for your brain.
No.
If you love Common Core Math, you're the problem.
You are the problem.
That's it.
Yep, so I don't think I could do, I genuinely don't know if I could do math.
Like, I don't think I could just step into a classroom and start it.
I think I forgot how difficult the math got after fifth grade.
It's tough.
It is.
It's a lot.
And it's so, not that it's useless.
Shout out to math teachers.
But there's, you can just do it now on your phone.
That's hard, right?
That's a.
AI calculators.
I know.
We got it.
I know.
I don't remember the last time I had to do long division in a pinch.
No.
You know what I mean?
Oh, crap.
Do you on the Ramsey show, though?
I do mental math.
Do you do that like real quick in your head?
But it's usually just addition.
That's most of it.
Are you doing like, like in my head, I'm like, okay, they make, they say they make one 20.
I'll say percentages in addition.
And I'm like, I'm sitting there and then I'm like divide by 12, which is always tough.
The 12s have always been hard for me.
So then I divide by 10 in my head and there's add a little bit.
Wow.
Don't give away all your secrets.
Some beautiful mind goodwill hunting math over here.
Yeah, call that rough math.
But that's, yeah.
Wow.
Oh, that was fun.
Yeah.
Well, hey, we want to know your side hustle results,
so take the quiz with the link in the description.
We'll also put a QR code here.
If you're watching on your TV,
watching us on the big screen in 4K, we appreciate you.
That's fun.
All of it, I know.
I've always said I only look better in 4K.
It only gets better the more you zoom in.
Only gets better.
I know, but you know, when you think about it,
you're on YouTube, you're on the internet,
you're just filling out forms, doing all this stuff,
and you're putting your info out there,
and that is why having delete me in 2026, so needed.
Yeah, think about all the forms you've filled out,
all the places that have your data,
where there's data breaches,
it's getting sold by all these data broker sites,
to spammers and scammers,
and scammers, delete me, scours the internet,
hundreds of these data broker sites,
removes your info and sends you a report
of where they found it, when they removed it,
and how much time you've saved.
Yeah, and we think about, you know,
you want certain information protected, right?
Like, you would never give out your pen, right,
to your bank or these kind of things,
But then we kind of flippantly give out addresses and all of this on these forms.
And there is something knowing that there is a company that is going in there, going into the Internet,
and just saying, hey, we are going to wipe it all clean for you.
We got you.
Yes, especially in these data broker sites.
So that's what's most important.
They're getting it at the source.
That's what we like.
So go check it out and get 20% off an annual plan.
Go to join delete me.com slash smart money.
All right, Rachel, it's time.
Our team has dug up some of the most unique and possibly unhinged TikToks.
To show us some side hustles that people are really doing.
Yes.
You know, I don't look at TikTok.
Did you know this about me?
I do we talk about this.
So whenever I get a chance.
You're like, ooh.
I am.
What a treat.
It's like a kid getting screen time who never gets it.
I feel like there's like a whole other world there.
It is.
You know what?
I don't actually open the app anymore.
I have the app.
Yeah.
I don't open it.
It's become all TikTok shop.
Are you more Instagram now?
Yeah.
Wow.
So you've migrated to the reels.
Yeah, I will say.
I'm mostly.
Reels on Instagram.
Which means I'm behind the TikTok.
By a month or two.
But who's even over there?
Exactly. Okay. But there is great content though, which is why I'm excited to see it.
People are doing it.
Okay, so some side hustle videos. I can't wait.
Let's dive into the abyss.
If you want an easy side hustle this summer that you can do from home that is super
easy and is bringing in thousands of dollars for people, start selling personalized wedding
napkins. People are genuinely making money online with these and they're not even making
them by hand. Let me show you what I'm talking about.
These personalized wedding napkins are bringing in $6,000 a month.
And these monogrammed wedding napkins are bringing in almost $10,000 a month.
These are so freaking easy to do.
Let me show you how in less than 60 seconds.
Go to kittle.com and hit create.
Go ahead and do 3,800 pixels by 3,800 pixels and hit create.
Under their templates, go ahead and put monogram followed by the design style you're doing.
For this, I'm going to be doing pretty.
Kill is the absolute goat when it comes to design.
They have for monograms hundreds that you can pick from depending on your design.
But for this example, I'm going to go with this bad boy right here.
Now, using bits and pieces from this template, I created my own.
I put a nice little embellishment here and also put the establishment year.
Oh, it's just ETS.
Now that I have my completed Monteroam design, is going to go right on over here to download.
Be sure to save this as a P&G and remove the background and then hit export.
She's lost all crazy.
Oh, no.
Type in napkin.
Printify has tons of napkins that you can choose from, but for today I'm going to go with this one right here.
Once you've selected your product, go ahead and head over to.
start design. Now take your recently downloaded design and drag and drop it right into here.
Now that you have your design right here, go ahead and head over to preview.
Oh, no, George. You have a completed monogrammed napkin and it is absolutely gorgeous.
Go to the comments.
The business is called Print On Demandumann where you make the design and then the printing company
prints, packs, and ships it out for you. If you want to learn more about print on to
you can check out the link in my bio. Okay, I love the idea. Okay. Please see if anyone catches
this misspelling. I'm 100% they caught it. I'm so happy about this. The noise app. Side Shift is also
good.
E-E-S-T.
10 likes, that's it?
That should have a million likes on that one comment.
Just an example that I did quick, but thanks.
Hope you found it informative.
Oh, no, she responded to it.
Oh, no.
Okay, so she clearly is getting paid and has a course or something.
Which is fine.
Yeah, it's great.
That's not illegal.
She's helping people make money online through print on demand, which is what this is called.
Okay, but she's actually making the napkins, though, right?
No.
She said that you can make up to $10,000.
is making napkins.
It's print on demand.
So she's not actually needing to get the napkins.
She can literally basically get a middleman to do it for her and ship them out.
Yeah, yeah, but you just said she's selling an online course.
No, she's not.
Yeah, well, she said use the link in my bio, join the, there's a play.
Oh, got it.
Got it.
All right.
There's always a thing.
Listen, we are not mad at entrepreneurship.
How to start a profitable print on demand and Etsy business.
That's her thing.
Got it.
Good for her.
So it's good to call out.
That's how she's making her.
money, not from selling napkins.
Not from the napkins.
It's from selling the course about how to sell the napkins.
The course about how to buy a course of selling the napkins.
This is not a knock on her.
She has very fun, bubbly energy.
Yeah, I like her.
I like her.
I like her.
If she was my kindergarten teacher, goals.
Love, love, love.
I like going up at the end of every sense.
You know what, though.
You're really excited?
It's so exciting.
Printer napkins?
It's great.
Miss Belly?
I love that.
No, but I like the creativity of the napkins.
I think that's great.
Can you imagine if she printed them with a misspelling?
That would be bad.
What do you do with that?
And the bride, the day of the wedding, sees the napkins and loses her.
Oh, man, that would be bad.
It has more to say about the bride, though.
I would not want to be on the business end of that.
Yeah, tough.
Okay.
Okay, would you do this?
Sure.
I'm going to go home and do it now.
I think I need some cocktail napkins at home.
The problem with this is...
I made smart money happy hour napkins.
Oh, we should get some custom napkins.
Let's do it.
We do those for like Ramsey events.
We have like really cool custom napkins.
Yes.
And I always go, these are pretty sweet.
But then I also go, this was a waste of money.
But if it didn't cost a ton.
They're created to be thrown away.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Who's keeping the napkin?
It's the experience, George.
It's the experience.
I know.
Can I say this?
Because you say they were made to be thrown away.
Oh, I feel like of tea.
I have, I do.
I have a little bit of tea.
Tea, tee, te, to tea.
I don't know.
I don't know.
Like I watched TikTok.
I was like, I was like, I'm like,
someone that shall not be names
son-in-law. Okay,
following me. Okay.
Worked at Taylor Swift and Travis
his wedding at Madison Square Gardens.
Facts. It's Gardens plural?
George. How many are there?
George! You were ruining
the moment! Okay. Sorry,
it was a very Kroger's moment for me.
Very Aldi's energy.
You're like a very southern mom.
Madison Square Garden. She went to Madison Square Gardens.
Anyways.
So he worked a wedding?
Yes, he had to sign an NDA.
Nobody was doing because he worked for a company that, like, does events and stuff.
And they told him like 24 hours before, hey, there's a gig on Friday, signed an NDA.
So he left and he was like, I don't know what I'm doing.
Yeah, I don't know.
But I can't talk about it.
Well, he goes, it's their wedding.
Oh my gosh.
So anyways, I'll say he can't.
So you weren't allowed to like keep anything.
And he kept one of the drinksters because it had like T&T, like everything was T&T.
Yeah.
T&T.
T&T.
So I'm saying how to say you're like the napkins.
They should be thrown away.
Who would keep those?
There are some things you make that were made to be thrown away and it is some people's treasure.
That's all I'm going to say.
I'm waiting for him to try to sell this on eBay.
The lawyers track him down in jail for life.
Straight to jail.
Straight to jail.
Straight to jail.
Wow.
Isn't that cool, though?
That's pretty wild.
Oh, man.
Someone had to make those for Taylor.
Like, that's a pretty wild.
So crazy.
Some wedding planner had to be like, yeah, I'm not telling you who it's for.
Just need T&T on there.
That's right.
What if she got this girl to make the napkins?
Now, you would be out of business if you misspelled.
Established.
Man, imagine those get shipped to the bride.
The old ets.
Now, maybe the bride wouldn't catch it.
Maybe she's too enthralled in the moment.
If she's me, I'm not noticing.
You know, there's a guest at the party that's going to bring it up and ruin her day.
Look at this.
Look at this.
Terrible.
Good thing.
All those napkins will just be thrown away at the end of the party.
Although we still have our wedding napkins, say Whitney and George.
So who am I to judge?
We need to, actually.
We use them at parties.
Yes.
You know, my mom for a Christmas gift got us Rachel and Winston napkins.
Just cocktail napkins.
Just for fun.
For the fun of it, like, two years ago.
I was like, I don't know if we're going to like.
If I was at your house and you served that on a napkin, it'd make me so happy.
If I served you a napkin, I said, listen.
Yes.
Because what if I had forgotten your names and I was in your house?
And I was like, oh gosh, good reminder.
Thank you.
I can't.
Thank you.
I can't.
God bless Sharon Ramsey.
Okay.
All right.
We're only one video in shorts.
We've got to pick this train up.
All right.
Okay.
Here we go.
Next.
In April, I made over $7,000 without a real job. In May, it will mark one year since I started doing side hustles to pay down my debt. And now it's been my full-time income for the past couple months. But let's go over how much I made with each side hustle and how I made it. So I'll go lowest to highest. So starting with mystery shopping, I made $324.19. This was for a handful of apartment tours. And then I also did a car wash. This does include the reimbursement
the car wash, it was $27. However, when I received the payment for that shop plus the reimbursement,
it will all be in one chunk. And I'm just going to put that all towards my debt. So I still count it,
but just know that $27 of that is reimbursement. The rest was 100% profit. Thank you for the
next on the list. I have Amazon Influencer. So I do Amazon review product reviews. So I just review
products I have around my home. In April, I did upload about, I think it was around 35 to 40 product
review videos in April I made $345.25. So I just got that as a commission when someone watched my
video and then bought a product that I reviewed or one like it. Next up is focus groups. So I did
two focus groups. One was a like a diary study. I just had to record myself doing a specific
task with a specific product. I'm not sure how much I'm actually allowed to talk about it.
I did that over the course of a couple weeks. It was super easy and actually really fun. It introduced me to a
product that I actually use now. That one paid $350 and then I just did a $7 unmoderated focus group,
which was just basically filling out a survey on my phone. Next up is views. So I am monetized
for my content for videos like this on both Facebook and TikTok. I get paid for my views. That
means the more people that watch or interact with my videos, I make more. So thank you so much for being
here. Total, I made $411.66 between the two programs. Next up is digital products. So I currently
sell a $7 debt and budget tracker. And then I also sell a guide I created on how I make money with
affiliate links, which is our next side hustle. In total, for April, I made $1,940.30. I have those linked
at the top of my page if you want to go check those out. And last on our list is affiliate links.
This is consistently my highest income earner every single month. For April, I made $4,2006.35.
cents. Everything linked at the top of my page except my own digital products I'm an affiliate
for. So if someone buys something using one of my links or signs up for a program with one of my
links, I earned commission. So thank you so much if you've ever bought anything from me.
This is because of you. So that brings our total for April to $7,500.
Good night. That's pretty good.
You know what I appreciate about her? She's really taken advantage of the internet.
Like the world at our fingertips, everything she just did.
So resourceful.
Was built on the Internet.
Yes.
And it was consistency over time.
You've got to keep showing up, keep making the content.
That's right.
It's been a year, she said.
So it's taking her a year to get to this point.
But $7,500 a month.
Yeah.
It's amazing.
And there's work there.
I mean, it's not passive income where you're just like sitting back.
Now, the affiliate links, once you build an audience, can be more passive.
But it still takes a lot of work just to get here.
Good for her.
And I like her energy.
I got a, too.
say. Some of these TikTokers are insufferable.
I would follow her content.
So I appreciate that.
All right, embroidery.
Cute, that's cute.
We love a toad.
You know what?
Good for her.
Bachelorette embroidery.
That's a very, that's a good market.
I was going to say, if you tap into a market like that and then the next people are going
like, oh, my gosh, where did you get that?
Like, oh, it's this girl here, here, here.
It's custom, it's unique.
Yes.
It kind of marks the moment for the girls.
I appreciate it, yeah.
Maybe I should get into like Bachelor Party embroidery.
You know, like what if all the guys had patches?
Something manly.
Just to iron onto their jackets.
Or maybe like matching vapes or something.
I don't know what the guys are into.
I'll capitalize.
You should get a Zen container with a custom, like monogram on it.
That's what the dudes would appreciate.
All the guys have their own little like memorabilia.
Yeah, yeah.
I like it, George.
Guys, no one's still.
that idea. I'm going to use that. I like that. Okay, this is a huge trend, not just for bachelor
parties, and bachelorette parties, but kids clothes. Yeah. I mean, if you can embroider, yes.
Moms love a monogram. I do, and I love that mom. And Southern moms especially.
Southern mom loves a monogram.
Wait, is Sharon Ramsey a monogrammer? Uh, actually, she really wasn't as much. No.
I wouldn't take her for a mom. No. She doesn't have that. I think they are too poor to be in that, to be in that group.
No, but I feel like every, like when I went to a, there was a consignment sale that I would always buy my kids' clothes at, because it was at a local church in Nashville, but it was like in Green Hills, which is like the little bit more of the old money of Nashville. And there was a whole, whole section, like a whole line of clothes that was like specific to monograms or embroidery that, you know, you can't just sell out on any random rack because it has a kid's name on it. And so it was like, you have to go search if they had it alphabetically. And I got Caroline, multiple inferters for the, for Caroline.
and Charles.
Amelia, there wasn't as much.
But yeah, you can go and, like, they end up selling this stuff
because everything they have is embroidered or has like that.
Pretty specific.
Yes.
It was great.
But I do.
I think it's cute to a certain age.
And then I'm kind of done.
Yeah.
It kind of goes like kids and then bachelorette party and then you're a southern mom.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I didn't experience that much in the north, growing up in Boston.
Monograms and, like, embroidered.
Why can't I say it?
People weren't that, like, that proud of a letter.
You know what I mean?
like on a towel to like have a K.
I think I did.
We live here.
We know our last name.
We're good.
You don't have to tell us.
The guests also know our last name.
If you're in our house,
using our towel.
Yeah, we don't do that.
It does make you feel a little bit fancy.
To each and so.
So there you go.
Good money to be made apparently.
Oh my gosh.
I love it.
Yep.
And then when you make money
from your side hustle,
actually putting it in a high yield savings account
versus just a standard savings account.
Making less than half a percent
with a brick and mortar bank?
It's so important.
Yeah.
yield savings accounts if you're saving money is where it's at and you can open one up at fair wins so fair
wins is an awesome credit union and you can actually do the smart bundle where you get a no fee checking
account and you get up to 10 high yield savings accounts which i love that and then um yeah you get the debit
card the debt is normal be weird ramsie debit card with it all and it's incredible yeah it is and can i just
tell you it is so easy and Winston and i we use fair ones now and so much of the moving around
I so appreciate.
Like if we have stuff in our high yield
and we need to move something to checking,
or I opened up one for Amelia
because she's been working this summer,
so she has her own little account
in Fair Winds now, her savings account.
And when I pay her,
it's automatic.
Like it's just such an easy customer interface.
So for me, that's like one of the pros to it.
Because I always use online high yield savings,
but then I had my traditional bank,
my regional bank here.
And now with Fairwinds,
I get the best of both worlds.
That's right.
Because they have credit union partners
all over the country,
35,000 fee-free
ATM. So you get all the benefits of a
local bank with all the benefits of an
online bank. So check it out, get the smart bundle.
Just go to fairwinds.org
slash Ramsey.
All righty. Next step, George.
This is a fun rabbit hole. I'm enjoying
this. It's not as toxic
as the traditional TikToks that I have to react to.
Yeah, no, this is good.
So this is how much I make on the average day
as a mobile car needs toards. Today, it ends up
a little bit over one grand.
So for my first car the day, I got a painfully early start
at 6.45 a.m.
I usually didn't even start a appointment so 10 a.m., but for clients like this one, I make exceptions for it.
He may ask, well, why are you making exceptions for him?
And that's because years and years way back, I never have imagined somebody paid me a young kid $1,000 of dollars to clean and protect their car, but he was one of the first clients to ever do that.
And every single year, he gets another detail by me, and I basically just do the exterior and the exterior, redo an application of ceramic on the glass and on the interior, then make sure the ceramics still looking good on the paint.
And I ended up making 325 on this detail and it took me about two and a half hours.
So now it's about 10 a.m. and I'm handing my second appointment.
How's it going?
I'm doing good.
Well, I've seen the work you've done with our neighbors, so.
Yeah.
Referrals.
I'll make yours look like new for you.
So circling back on the neighbor thing, it's actually kind of crazy.
So I started detailing at these townhomes probably in September, and now it's July, and I think I've almost done every single car in that whole place.
And that's a pretty cool thing about mobile car detail is you're pretty much like a walk-in advertisement.
So this detail went fairly quick.
It only took me about two and a half hours.
And granted, it's a Ford Fusion.
It's literally the most common cover of detail.
So I knock them out pretty quick, but I made 305 with this with the, with the video.
the deposit. Now I'm moving on to my third appointment of the day and honestly I was puzzled
while this dude even booked an appointment with me. Oh it's a 2024 and I'm not even kidding. It's
smelled like a brand new car still. And he booked the four-works option which is intended to be a
super thorough deep paint-up car. But I mean I'm going to turn down money so I mean I still did everything.
So you got a wax on there inside now detail underbody wash and I think that was about it.
But here's me being OCD per usual checking out the final results because even if I see a spec it's
going to throw me. But this detail with the $20 to pop.
I ended up making 355 and it took me about three and a half hours to do it.
And this is also in my first middle of the day.
It's probably like 5 p.m. I know I'm cooked.
You check it out. If you see anything, just let me know.
What happened here?
Were you able to vacuum underneath this?
Man, when he said that, I was like, bro, I'm nothing but the vacuum imagination.
Ain't nothing there.
You did a lot of work, man. Thank you so much.
Yeah, absolutely.
So now I'm going to my fourth and last point of the day and this is one of my main thing.
I do.
And I probably do a car like every one to two months, I would say.
But I have a real love-hay relationship with this car because I love
I love detone because it's satisfying to see the results after, but I never charge enough for doing it.
Really, just because the client is just coolest.
When I really f***ed the client, I never charge them full price, some matter what.
Wow, I'm wondering if it was a girl.
And I ended up making $150 on this car, and that brought me to the end of my day,
and I highly just do mobile detone, make a good living.
Wow.
Look at him.
Yeah, I see a black range rover.
We're gonna...
Generally female.
Oh, oh, yeah.
I'm just saying.
Wow.
Okay, I like his vibe.
Very chill?
Yes.
And that's hard work.
That's some physical labor in there.
Oh, yeah.
Vacuuming, cleaning.
I mean, that's a lot.
And depending on where you're doing this, it's in the elements.
It's in the heat.
You have an appointment.
You're like, all right, I got an appointment.
I got to show up.
What am I going to do?
Yep.
But this, I mean, I've paid mobile detailers before.
I was going to say that.
I think that's a great job.
It feels like a win-win.
Because the person getting the details, like, well, this is worth it.
Like, $150, $250, $250, $250, $250.
And they come to you.
You're not having to go somewhere.
Yeah, you don't need a whole shop.
And so this is one of the greatest side hustles,
especially for like young dudes who are hungry, entrepreneurial.
They want to start a business of their own
without a lot of upkeep and startup.
I mean, you can just literally show up with a little hand vac
and some wash material.
You can get on Amazon.
That's right.
And just go for it.
For less than a hundred bucks startup.
And it's more detailed you are,
the better you probably will be at this job.
I want someone more OCD than me to do the job.
So this one is S tier for me.
This is getting an A plus.
Hey, I've seen those videos.
You have.
S tier, A, all of it.
What does the, what does S mean?
S tier is just above the A.
It's like A plus plus plus.
Does I have a word that associates with S?
I'm not cool enough to know.
Okay.
Superior or Supreme?
Supreme.
Supreme.
Okay, so that's the ultimate.
Yeah.
That's always my question with those videos and the reels.
I'm surprised you've seen those.
But those aren't getting more popular.
I've done a few of those.
I scroll.
No one cares when I do them.
But I try.
I haven't seen yours.
Exactly.
Back to what I said about no one caring when I do them.
It's fine.
We're having a good time.
All right, next up.
Welcome to Coral Cove Beach Club.
Our team is currently unavailable because they're helping guests achieve what doctors refer to as vacation brain.
Take a stroll along our private beach.
Enjoy a frozen coconut drift dacery.
And remember, if you can still remember your work password, you're not relaxed enough yet.
For snorkeling excursions,
sunset cruises,
or emergency situations involving a beach chair
that's really too sunny,
please leave a message after the tone.
Until then, the tide is high,
your responsibilities are low,
and somebody's probably bringing a peanut caleta
directly to a hammock.
We'll return your call as soon as possible.
Thanks.
No way.
Is that real, you think?
I want it to be real.
I...
Okay, you know what?
The company's paying for that?
I would so...
I love this person just commented.
Representative, all caps.
So, like, we're done.
I agree.
I'm voicemail over 20 seconds.
I'm out.
I don't need it.
I'm not leaving one.
We'll go straight to it.
It's like, hello, welcome to Marriott.
Press 1, if you need reservations.
Press 2.
It's just like...
A phone tree kills me.
Well, no, I was going to say, I would be efficient.
Give me, give me the direction.
I'm at the road.
Point me in the direction I need to go.
I just, I'm old school.
I just want someone to answer.
That is true. That is the most.
You make me go through three layers of phone tree.
Frustrating. Human.
Human.
I'll say sometimes.
Like, get me a person on the phone.
That is brutal.
But that's a fun side-housal.
If you did have a good audio voice, right, for audio.
I was going to say, this could be a good side-housel for you.
Oh, I don't feel like I do.
You could leave a fun voicemail like that.
You have like a very friendly voice.
My range is not great, though.
I will admit that.
You know this.
You're not known for your dynamic range.
this time. My
voice goes about
this wide. But you could do what she did.
Hello, welcome to... Yeah.
Figure it out. Yes. Maybe.
But I do like the idea of using your voice for something.
Voiceover work. You know what? I take it back. The side hustle I would love to do.
Is voice overwork. I know.
Because you don't have to see my face. And I think that makes it
better for everyone. Yes. And just like you just...
Okay, you don't have to agree with it that quickly.
Yes. I was like... Yes. Not seeing your face. Huge plus.
Huge plus for the people.
I don't know if it's true, though.
Okay, I like her.
I think she just does, like, funny videos, like, kind of comedic.
Yeah, but hey, you know what?
If it's out there, take it.
But voiceover work is legit.
I do think in the world of AI, it's going to be harder to stand out in the crowd.
So you're going to have to be, you know, have your thing that you do really well.
Oh, yeah, that may be one of the jobs taken from.
Because everybody, everyone's like, I can speak.
I can read a sentence.
I can do that.
I have a cool voice.
Give me a teleprompter.
We love a prompter?
That is a hard thing to do.
I feel like it took me a while to read teleprompter.
Yeah.
That is an acquired skill.
Yes.
People think it's so easy.
Oh, if it was just in front of me, I could.
But then to like make it believable and sell it to the lens, I still struggle with that.
Sell it to the lens.
Sell it.
See, we have no prompters on this show.
Believe it or not.
I know you're shocked.
We have a loose script that we try to follow.
Our writer doesn't love when we go too far off because she worked hard on it.
Keep us on the wrong.
rails. Keep us on the rails. She does great work. All right, what's the next one? Okay. Let me read
what it says on the screen. You're the girl that makes game day pins at your SEC school.
So she's making game day pins. Can I tell you my toxic trait? That's creative. I couldn't even
focus on the video because it's the wrong use of your. Oh, you are. It should be you are the girl,
Y-O-U, apostrophe, R-E. You are, you should be a grammar spell checker for your. For your
You're side hustle, George.
An editor.
I'm not that good at grammar, though.
Yeah.
It's just a basic.
It's the basic stuff.
Yes.
If a fifth grader wrote a book, I could edit that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Not a bright fifth grader.
But you could say, like, yeah, average fifth grader.
Okay, but game day pens.
This is a thing?
It's her real job.
What is a game day pin?
See, there's are things I don't know about as well.
It's like the one that you put on your shirt.
I know almost no parts of the sentence.
Oh, gosh.
So SEC is.
Southern Eastern Conference.
Okay. And that's like a tier of schools.
What is it?
South Eastern Conference, which is a conference within college athletics.
And so you can be an SEC school, in which case your team is a part of this.
If you're in the Southern.
If you're in the Southern Eastern.
And then they have game days, which is when the game takes place.
That is true.
And then she's making, she's making custom pins that say what?
Yeah.
Okay, this is Ole Miss specifically.
Just pins that you wear, you know, that you like has little.
little needle thing and you sew it through your shirt and clip it.
Someone said, can I buy one? So clearly, I do think college football is one of the easiest
target demos to sell stuff for. Oh my gosh. Just like if I could go back in time. Here's my hack.
I want to write a theme song for every college football team. Oh. Isn't that pretty genius?
But every school has their major song though. Yeah, but those songs are, yeah. Do you think you would,
you think you would write a song that they would sing at the UT football game over Rocky Top? Not necessarily.
necessarily sing, but I think it would be like a bop.
It's like a part of it.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Maybe not for us, though, George, but one of our co-workers' daughters made $7,000 by doing this.
Isn't that crazy?
Wow.
So I don't know if that was like for the whole football season.
It may have been, but still, you know.
That's a heck of a side hustle.
Two grand a month.
Why not?
Yeah.
I mean, I don't know how many pins you have to design, but that feels like for the ROI and your time, it is there.
Okay.
Do you know what I just thought of?
And it kind of may be like, oh, I don't know.
if I could do it. Putting one of those pins in my cozy earth sweatshirt. Oh. Because it would poke holes in it.
I can't do it. And I think it kind of like made me shudder a little bit. I don't know if I could do it. I don't know. Because the
cozy earth stuff is just the quality. I don't even want to, I don't even want to mess it up. I want to wear it. But like putting little holes in it. It makes me nervous. It's too nice. Some
things are too nice to be just putting holes in it for fun. Yeah, because cozy earth products, you guys, from the
athleisure to even the betting. I think I told you this mom got all news.
sheets at their lake house home that's like house and when we stayed in it y'all it i said mom what are
these sheets cozy earth and i was like of course they are i took a picture of the tags these are like
oh a dream an absolute dream do yourself a favor get you some cozy earth stuff y'all seriously
get it all i was wearing the uh the sleep set yesterday i took a sick day because i'm still getting
over my congestion oh i'm so sorry to try to prep for this big day with you so sorry but listen
That sleep set, it made me feel better.
I can't prove it that I'm in my immune system improved.
It may not heal sickness, but it might.
It's close.
That's my testimonial.
That's my testimony.
So go check it out for yourself.
You can get up to 20% off.
Just go to cozy earth.com slash smart money.
Love it.
All right.
Next step, what's our next side hustle, George?
I earn over $3,000 every month through side hustles I do from home.
If you want to earn extra income without having to grow with social media following,
here are my top three side puzzles that actually work.
Number one is,
mystery shopping. Companies will pay you to eat at restaurants and then fill out a survey about your
experience. Number two, Amazon reviews. Amazon will put your videos directly onto the product
pages and you will earn money through commission. Amazon drives all the traffic and you never have to
post to social media. Number three is bank bonuses. Banks will pay you to open up an account with them.
Hopefully this is helpful. If you want to start any of these tattoos, I have a free guide in my bio to get
you started. Wait, does she open up bank accounts, like a ton of them? Yeah, I think it's sort of a
things. So like some banks say, hey, if you deposit $5,000 in the first three months and keep it there,
then we'll give you $100, for example. Okay. So there's things like that sort of sign.
They're almost like kind of sign up bonuses. Yeah, yeah, sure. But you have to keep a certain amount
with the bank for a certain amount of time, probably create direct deposit. So it is a lot of work.
Yeah, to get it. But if you're like, you're really in it. I mean, and some of these mystery shopping,
it's more of a reimbursement. Rarely do you get paid a lot of money. It's like you go to the
restaurant, you pay for the meal, and they'll give you the money back. Yeah. Not really a money-making
scheme. Amazon reviews, again, dime a dozen, hard to make a lot of money doing it. So these are
okay. I'm going to put them in like a C-tier. Okay. But the bank bonuses, I don't know, they're kind of a
gimmick to try to get you to sign up with the bank. Sure, I was going to say, it'd probably be a lot to
keep up with. Yeah. And very few people stay with the bank. They just move on to the next bank. That's right.
But banks are hoping that you're, I guess, too lazy to switch. Yeah. That's just fair. That can happen.
and that can happen.
Well, George, those were creative, you know?
I appreciate it.
Got to give it to them.
When you think outside the box, I'm like, you know what?
That's what I love.
It's resourcefulness plus creativity plus effort.
I think we've said this one before, but I heard this.
I saw a girl on Instagram do it, and she does people's laundry.
And she makes like a couple thousand bucks a month.
Like she does really well because she's like, I'm already doing art.
So she's just like, yep.
Oh, at her house?
Yes.
Not even like a laundromat.
No, no, no, no.
At her house and she folds it, all of it and just gets it ready for people.
I know.
If you love laundry, this is a good side hustle for you.
And there are some people where it's like so therapeutic for them.
They like really do love it.
So that's good.
I do think if you took like a half hour and did some soul searching, what are the things that I enjoy doing?
What are things that other people would love to get off of their plate that they're willing to pay for?
You would find a whole lot of side hustles that are out there, especially right there in your community.
I always love to go, what are the things your neighbors could use some help with?
Yes.
We had some boys come clean out our trash cans.
That's like literally clean them.
Spray them.
Sprang down, soap them up, all of it.
And they were like, probably middle school.
Wow.
I know.
I was like, good for you guys.
And they can make like, I don't know, $25 a pop doing that.
35? Yeah, it turns 35.
Your neighborhood's charged a pretty penny.
But ours was disgusting.
Disgusting.
So I was like, thank you.
Thank you, thank you.
And that takes them maybe 10 minutes?
No, no.
I think it was a little bit.
Those little guys.
Maybe 45 minutes?
45 minutes?
Yeah, you got to like.
You just take a pressure washer with some soap and rinse the thing out.
So deep.
detailed, George. You're so detailed. I love that you're supporting a small business. That is. That's
right. That's so great. All right, George, before we spill the tea on our guiltiest charge segments,
what do we sip it on? This is the golden veil.
I liked it. What's your rating on this?
Eight out of ten. A little too basely?
Too basely for you. It's just the leaves.
No, but I feel like it was like a big aftertaste of basil.
Okay. We now know you're not a basil girl. I like basil. Don't put me in that category.
But you don't love basil. But a forward basil.
drink, maybe not. You ever had basil on some barata? On a nice slice of tomato with some balsamic.
It's delicious. It's delicious. Caprici. It's said caprici. I'm going to go seven out of ten. I think
everything's working for me. I think the Irish whiskey is different for my palate. It threw me off a little
bit, but I love everything in here. It's got Irish whiskey, ginger liqueur, lemon juice.
Ginger. Is that what I'm tasting? You're getting some ginger in there. I'm getting the ginge. Okay, got it.
She's not a ginger fan.
Honey syrup, aromatic bitters, and the basil leaves.
Yeah, okay.
So it's nice.
They all work in tandem.
Yeah, you just got to like all these ingredients.
Yeah.
And you add a little lemon wedge on there.
That's a great kind of...
It's beautiful.
Nice warm weather drink.
It's beautiful.
The total is $3.85 per serving.
If you want the recipe, you can get it in the show notes and give it a try at your leisure.
If you like Basil.
I'm trying to see how many people I can anger in the comments today.
Unbelievable.
It's called rage bait.
Oh, wow.
All right, now it's time for guilty as charged.
And this is where we ask each other a guilty as charged question every week.
And if we're guilty, we take a sip.
All right, George, are you guilty of judging a side hustle?
Oh, boy.
Am I ever?
Are you ever?
That's all I do.
Forte.
Now, I respect anyone who's putting their stuff out there.
Sure, totally.
Trying to make a buck.
Totally.
Where it sort of crosses a line is where you turn people.
into just like dollar signs.
Like everyone is just an opportunity for you.
Yes.
You stop, they're like not human anymore.
I know.
And so I got an invite on Facebook from a guy's wife, used to work here,
and it was for her pampered chef virtual party.
Yeah.
And my heart just sank in just judgment and sadness.
But also, shock and awe that her page had like 150 followers.
Yeah.
And people were signing up for this virtual pampered chef.
party. Yeah, they're all about it. I know. I hate to say it. I don't want to be you. I don't want to
like follow in your footsteps, George. It's people's greatest fear. But I've always, I know, I've always
had like a little taste of my mouth about the MLMs because of that. Same for you. Just because it can
feel like a little sleazy. Like people, and you get tricked into stuff. Like that's happened to me.
I've gone to something. It's manipulative. And then at the end I'm like, oh, they're like trying to sell me
Like, oh, I didn't know what I was doing.
Yes, yes, yeah.
You were merely a pawn on their scheme.
You know, Winston tried doing this in college.
What?
Him and his friend, yes, and I can't remember which one it was.
But they had, like, and I can't, I can't remember the numbers.
And we had the story wrong.
Let's say $500.
It was a lot, like, for a college student.
I remember thinking, oh, my gosh.
And they, like, had to put it forward for, like, an initial investment.
Oh, that's how they get you.
And I cannot remember what they were selling.
Yeah.
And then, of course, it fizzles out.
Was it like cut cone knives or something?
I know.
I honestly cannot.
We weren't dating during this.
He told me about it later.
It's probably for the best.
But anyways, yep.
I don't know.
I think sometimes it can work for people.
It's just, I think I've just had too many experiences where you get whiplashed and you're like, oh, man.
So.
It just, it gives me the ick.
We didn't have the word for it back then, but that's what it does.
Okay.
You know?
I just kind of look at someone a little bit differently forever.
And I can't help that.
I can't help it.
I'm not that judgmental.
But if you're making an honest living, doing something that actually serves people,
who am I to yuck-year-old?
You know what? I'm going to say that my win for the day, though,
was that girl who was doing all these different things on the Internet.
I just think that is just so smart.
Diversify.
