the big episode we are going to be talking about our own lives
We're going to be talking about soccer as well
We have so much to get to and the biggest one for us today
On top of everything else going on is if you are watching live or watching on YouTube
You can see our new brand we have rebranded if you're listening via podcast. Just look at your podcast feed right now
You'll be seeing the new logo.
You'll be seeing the new setup and it is part of our big move over the last 24 hours as
we have joined into the kickback soccer media and we are building a whole new setup and
a whole new company as well on top of all of this.
And Tom, I would argue we've never looked better.
This is beautiful. I love the logo
and we are just keeping up with modern soccer.
I'm assuming we're gonna have another rebrand coming soon
because soccer is just a vehicle
between rebrands and logos.
So I'm very excited about it
and I'm gonna enjoy our time with this logo.
I have spent the last 12 hours creating our Crest explainer
as you talk about it, which we're going to go through even though many of you are listening via podcast.
Don't worry, I can be very descriptive.
I've been a play-by-play announcer myself.
I've been a broadcaster so I can walk you through it all.
If you have not seen it though, then go on to our Blue Sky feed, go on as well to Instagram
and the Crest explainer is there.
It is inspired by some of the great ones
we have seen in MLS history.
And I shit you not, I have gone back and read through
a decent chunk of them.
Many of them are still on their websites
because they're like, oh, this is like what we did
and like, it's not a thing in the past where it's like,
oh, just when it first comes out out like they keep it up there. The things people
write on these things are ridiculous. Like oh if you didn't notice there
actually are only six fingers on the toe of the alligator that we used in our
crest. It represents the six districts of the fifth district of the third region
of the city which historically was the most
efficient and fastest moving portion of the region.
I don't know how, I don't have the words to describe how miserable a day that must be
to read through all of these logo branding.
I used to try to poke fun at it and I can't even get myself up to read them to make fun
of them.
So thank God we have our very own submission because I enjoyed the hell out of this.
It was fun and I can understand why people do it now because you get to...
I think most of them don't take it as a joke but I kind of did.
No, all of them don't take it as a joke.
So our main line was, in an attempt to stay relevant in the American soccer landscape,
Soccer Rise has rebranded for the third time in 14 months, Balls in Your Court Now Chicago
Fire FC soccer team.
Because of course, you couldn't just Google Chicago Fire.
You have to be able to get all the way there.
I believe Chicago rebranded twice in less than 12 months.
Is that correct?
Does that timing sound right?
Yeah, because they had the false start one.
Did Montreal rebrand twice too? or did they just say no?
We've got a Montreal reference in here too.
If anyone remembers Montreal went from Montreal Impact to CF Montreal and then from CF Montreal
they remain CF Montreal but they changed the logo and the logo very specifically looked
like a cat's butthole, which I will say I have-
I was wondering what that was in reference to.
I'm glad that you let me put it on there
without knowing what it was.
I trust you, sir.
And I actually have a hat with that logo in my car
that I wear fairly consistently.
And no one ever says it to me.
We have used the dynamics of lettering
to show the pace and power and energy that we function
with and operate with in the community that we are grown on.
I swear all of this language is from real releases that have been put out there and
it is absolutely wild, but it just shows like the true synergy and passion, you know, of
these clubs and what they're building and where they're trying to go.
Tom's like, I'm not going to talk about this anymore.
It's completely blank. I just want to get to ours.
Ours is very good. It was very fun. I'm very excited about it. So feel free to go
jump into the socials. Send us some advice. Someone immediately, before we even put out the
explainer, was like, why does the eyebrows of the owl
look like Tommy Scoops' mustache upside down, which I hadn't noticed before.
So then I had to flip my whole computer over to look at it
the way they said it.
And I started to see it a little bit more.
Paolo says we need more buzzwords.
So I can work on that.
Another rebrand.
We got to do it again.
We got to do another rebrand.
But we are very excited about this. I think it's going to look great. It's going to help
us move into our next era. And as I said, as part of the Kickback Soccer Media Network,
it is going to be an awesome project that we are working on. So Kickback Committee is
going to be a new show that we're going to be launching. We're going to do so in Austin.
And we are then going to launch it as its
own show that is going to come out on its own channel as part of what we do every single
week going forward. In Austin, we have our live event. It is free. It is presented by
Blue Sky who we are so excited to be officially partnered with in this entire project. We
are trying to make it a space where everyone feels comfortable to go and talk soccer and
BS around soccer, every single type of soccer.
I know for me, I've really enjoyed being on there over the last year plus, and I have
found it a really cool spot, especially on match nights, to chat with people and interact
with people.
So we are going to have our live event at 6 p.m. local time in Austin next Tuesday.
It is going to be at the Haymaker bar in Austin. So if you
want to come before the skills challenge or instead of the skills challenge we
will be there. Danny Pereira will be with us off the rip. Hopefully he will be with
us. I don't know what we do then. Do we just spend a segment talking about Danny
Pereira and his potential transfer? At that point I guess it would be his
transfer. Do you think that's why they were so open to giving him to us?
Yeah, knowing that they know this won't this won't happen.
I I don't do talking to somebody else and I said, can you guys just slow play them?
I go, if this is real and again, I'm not I'm not confirming this.
I don't have anything on it.
But I was like, you know, if this is real, can we just slow play this one and make sure
that nothing's agreed for for another week, please?
We just need Danny on Tuesday.
Wednesday is a perfect day to get that done.
The transfer window will open up on Thursday as well,
so we're gonna have a live ice cream shop segment
that we're gonna be doing there.
We have a lot of the local Austin podcasts
that are gonna be coming for a special segment as well,
and then we will be doing a kickback committee episode.
So Susanna Fuller, who will be with us later this show
to talk about one of our
projects that we're working on called the 50 states of soccer, which we're going to be
presenting fully in Austin. Texas is going to be our first state. Spoilers, huge shocker there,
as we'll be in the state of Texas. Susanna is going to join us later on this show to talk a
little bit about it, as well as our other plans. And then we're going to do our first one next week
and then we're going to be doing them every single week going forward. After that,
I believe Heath Pierce will be in attendance as well to join us.
Obviously Jordan will be there.
She will be with us for a lot of the show coming on to hang out as well.
So it's going to be a ton of fun.
Please come out if you're in the area and we're going to chill,
watch the skills challenge after that.
And then I think Tom has a has me scheduled for a soccer 6.45 a.m. T-time.
The next morning we're gonna be playing
outdoors under the sun.
I'm afraid if we're on the same team,
we're against each other.
I don't know how it's gonna break out, we're gonna see.
I have to figure it out, I can't wait.
Shout out to Street FC, who we're gonna be doing it with.
So yeah, more to come on that, but I'm looking forward it out, I can't wait. Shout out to Street FC, who we're gonna be doing it with. So yeah, more to come on that,
but I'm looking forward to it, Gus.
You have had your soccer experiences
over the last few days.
I am scared to be against you.
I'm also scared to be on your team.
Yeah, teammate last night got sucker punched
at the end of the game.
Not gonna say anything that,
because anything coming to mind
is gonna sound incriminating to me.
So I think I'm just gonna leave it at that
and just letting my rage continue to stew here.
What, we got stitches, went to the hospital.
Absolute clown show.
Absolute clown show.
Are you kidding me?
Clean it up, Brick New Jersey Soccer League.
Did you win by a lot?
Yeah, we dusted them.
So as I'm cursing at people after the game, I'm like, yeah, dude
Maybe next time you guys only lose by four goals
So, you know, you keep swinging if you want keep it on the field. Come on get over yourself
So I really look forward to playing pickup soccer against Tom
It's like something that I have really locked in and I'm really really excited
I don't know if our pals who are our former MLS players that might be playing
But let's listen to this and are maybe gonna tell me. Oh actually I'm busy at that time
I think they already know that in my experience most of time
I mean it is like it was pulling teeth to get Kailin Carter come play men's league with me and every once in a while
He would and he'd like very quickly realized like I put him like on the winger up top
I'm like, oh, I've seen Kailin play and he'd like very quickly realized like I put him like on the winger up top cuz I'm like
Oh, I've seen Kailin play and he's like I'm gonna play center made because I'm the best player on the team and like
Just play the ball to my feet and then like he'd slowly like work out of tight spaces and guys would be like
Oh, I'll just like chop him down. Yeah, and then you got to like manage that experience
So they know that's coming and I think with you and me they absolutely know it as well
so Yeah And I think with you and me, they absolutely know it as well. So imagine. Yeah.
We've got a lot of soccer to talk about in here.
We'll get back to our Austin stuff and everything when Susanna joins us
in a little bit, both live and in the podcast.
Let's start on the big news around Major League Soccer.
Last night was a wild night of action. We're going to get to that.
It was boring.
And then the Red Bulls were like, actually,
if we score five goals in the next 20 minutes, we'll win this game.
And everyone else around the league was like, okay, cool.
That Dems the vibes and the whole thing exploded at the same time.
But let's get into your wheelhouse. Let's get into the ice cream shop.
And let's start with the fact that there is no chance that Rodrigo
DePaul is coming to Inter Miami and not being a designated player. Tom, give us the news.
So first of all, I'll separate the two things. The first of all,
Inter Miami are finalizing a deal for Rodrigo DePaul. The deal is going to be a loan until the winter with a purchase option at
15 million euros, which is like 17 and a half million dollars. That would make him the second
most expensive player in MLS history again like everything is agreed
is being finalized that is happening the other side of this is the Russia
designation side they don't have an open DP spot there's been speculation is
Sergio Busquets gonna retire is there a way to finesse kind hey could you sign
up you have 60 or max tam deal to offer like Jordi Alva that could take him off
whatever it is what I've been told is the plan that has been communicated is that?
Rodrigo de Paul is a tam player
Until the winter and then when the purchase option happens and then when the contract kick the full-time contract kicks in then he would become
A DP again. I want to reiterate
I'm being very specific when I say the plan has been communicated.
That does not mean that this is final.
That is just where things stand right now.
In fact, after reporting this, it's very fluid, is what I heard.
But again, really strongly everything is this is the plan right now.
And I don't know if there's anything else to be discussed whatever else is going on
But as of yesterday the the plan communicated is Tam now DP in the winter
So everyone being mad at the same time about this
Completely fair I want to I want to point that out to completely fair anger
So so the anger thing we've talked about this on this show.
Like if more teams tried stuff like this,
the rules would change.
And there's like this perception of it's unfair
that they're allowed to do this,
which is totally understandable.
I think what I have said many times on this show
is my angle of that is they try and they
get away with some of this stuff.
And if every team tried, you'd get away with some of this stuff that you're trying.
Now in all of this, this is not the first time that a player has ever come on loan to
an MLS team and become a DP after the deal finishing.
We talked in the pregame, Thomas Chunkalai did this
for the New England Revolution,
Ganago's on this type of deal right now.
In saying all of that, that's in the scenario
in which your club that you're being loaned from
is holding some of your salary
because they're just trying to get
some of your salary off the books.
That salary then comes under the DP threshold.
It would be a little shocking if Rodrigo DePaul salary was so low that Atleti
could hold the amount they want to hold in all of this and for him to come under the
DP threshold. And that's where it starts to become a little bit of smoke and mirrors in
all of this. And that's where I think for a lot of people, there's some anger and there
is not a ton of trust there because this is the club
that had four DPs.
Andres Reyes has a DP contract, five DPs.
Blazema Tweety ended up having to get bought out, Julian Carranza of course sent to Philadelphia
basically for free.
D-Wade in the chat says it's this year's Blazema Tweety Memorial BS roster mecha nation.
And we do have this running trend where Inter Miami has tried this stuff
and other teams have as well.
Right. We've got this lot on conversations in the chat right now.
Like that is we know it's lots on came wasn't a DP to start and then ended up
like owning half of a Swedish team, I think three quarters of a Caribbean country
and a piece of Mars.
Like, I think it's just a real estate block
that he was gifted from Phil Anshets,
but I'm not 100% sure on the reporting there.
We have seen things like this.
I think some of the frustration is messy
and like, okay, can the rich get richer?
The other is this one feels a little more blatant.
Like a slightly in prime World Cup winner
coming from a team that we know the types of
salaries they pay and all of the talk of being like, yeah,
there's no way they can do this.
And then being like, yep, they did it.
From a soccer point of view, it's pretty exciting.
It's another really good player.
It makes Inter Miami even more competitive.
It's almost like the type of move you wish would have
happened before the Club World Cup. So this team could have even more competitive. It's almost like the type of move you wish would have happened before the club World Cup.
So this team could have been more competitive in international competition.
Uh, CONCACAF Champions Cup as well.
And I think for other MLS teams it's like, well, there's no value to us.
All this is going to do is make them really competitive for the rest of the year.
But it is a wild move.
If it ends up happening, it just star studs this roster even more.
And we've talked about for the last few weeks, he's a good player.
It makes sense.
It's not how we would spend our money, but also we can't convince Luis Suarez to
play on a non DP or have previously convinced Jordi Alba to play on a non DP.
This team's operating in a space that they get to operate.
And this is Messi's body guard and he likes him and he wants him on his team.
Exactly. And again, they're obviously a unique study and like, I'm just talking about the
on the field fit and using resources like this, like they did get, I believe 20 million
in prizes from the club world cup and spending 17 and a half on a transfer fee for Riviera
de Balles. So in one hand, like I do appreciate that the money is going right back into the
team. I think he's going to is going right back into the team.
I think he's gonna be an awesome fit on the field.
Obviously the assumption is he's going to have more goal contributions than he did with Atletico Madrid just because
it's Rodrigo De Paul, he's a World Cup winner, right?
Like he's probably like he's gonna do all the Rodrigo De Paul things
but you also hope that he's gonna be like a box-crashing eight
that's gonna get into the mix in the final third and again like we're under no illusions
MLS isn't as good as that let it go Madrid right like so the idea is that he can like while he's not like a key goal
Contributor in that let it go Madrid or with the other side national team. We go to a little bit of a lower level and
He should be able to add more so I wouldn't even shut off the idea from that end of it and like again like the biggest takeaway for fans of
other MLS teams is gonna be if indeed he is a tan player as is currently the plan
that I think that they have every right to be mad because like you said you bring
up the Thomas Choncolai you bring up Ignatius Ganango and apparently we're
just the only things we can think of are Rebs examples. But, um, for good reason. Yeah. But Choncolai
is on a million dollars and Ganago is on $1.3 million. Like Rodrigo De Paul's contract,
it's like, what, eight or nine million with something in that ballpark at Atletico? And
so Atletico are holding, you know, 80% of that for just the favor to do Miami like I like
Gareth Bale. People helping people man. It's a new world. Gareth Bale has been used in the chat as an
example too again like that's like he just chose to took less like he wasn't
under contract with another team so again I understand I understand the
frustration and I do understand Gus the other side of push the boundaries, but at the end of the day
MLS could like they had there haven't been meaningful roster rule changes since Messi got here and
MLS is putting themselves in this position where it's like either we need we're gonna catch heat
because of how Miami are going to kind of finesse the rules to bring in Rodrigo de Paul or
You tell her at Sergio Busquets. hey, you're a legend, we love you, by the way, you need to retire
right now, whether you want to or not, because that's the only way that we can sign Rodrigo
de Paul.
It's a lose-lose situation because they didn't do any changing of the roster rules before
this.
So, like, I think both things are true here, that I would, I love to see the ambition,
I love to see people pushing the boundaries and trying to help the league grow.
But OK, we're all supposedly playing by the same rules.
If I'm a Columbus Crew fan, a Cincinnati fan, San Jose, insert any team here being like,
hey, like what about like it is like I get it.
I get it.
That's my point.
We do get it.
But at the same time, if Columbus tried to make a move like this, like literally,
if Columbus kept Cucho and then we're like,
we're going to try and sign Rodrigo DePaul and do it this way.
Do we not think that if they found a mechanism to do this in,
that it would happen the same way? Like that's sort of what we're always talking
about. And in terms of Inter Miami though,
I think it was a little bold to be like,
okay, this is our plan because the rules will change.
It's like tough to build a roster into rules you expect to happen.
Although we have seen in the past with MLS, the U 22 initiative,
it was like took five months to announce after people were like basically signing
players under that.
And then they could finally announce them when it, once it finally got announced.
Yeah, we're in the dark gray space of Major League Soccer,
which is a majority dark gray space.
So this is where it lives.
And this is like as probably a big example, as we will see.
Someone sort of was asking about the fee and price.
Like he's still 31.
This is still a guy who will probably start for Argentina.
So like, I think the market value is fine there in terms of his market value
across the world. It's just Major League Soccer doesn't normally have an example
of this type of player being as worth it because of the salary cap,
except if he becomes the fourth DP,
then it's a little bit more worth it and fits a little bit better.
We're going to continue to cover it.
We're going to continue to dig into everything as the news develops.
Reminder, the transfer window opens next Thursday.
So we're going to sort of see how this officially goes down in a week. Yeah.
So we're going to see how this officially goes down at that point.
Still right now a little bit up in the air.
Let's hit a couple other news points before we dig into some of the games from
the midweek, by the way, Miami, maybe the most important game of Wednesday,
losing three zero at FC Cincinnati. It broke Messi's five game, multi-goal streak.
It was a huge performance from Evander. And for Cincinnati,
we spent a long, long time on the last show talking about,
you're not going to get a better chance to rinse the taste out of your mouth of
giving up a two goal lead at home to Columbus better than beating Miami at home in the
following game. That's exactly what they did. And so this is all now still,
you know, happening in the context of like Inter Miami have games to make up.
They still have a shot at the shield race, who will be the favorites and all
of that. Rodrigo De Paul sort of enters inside of that whole scenario. One person in the chat said,
Argentina going full Gauss theorem,
getting everyone in the country a year before the World Cup
so that they can settle.
I think Argentina has built a training facility in Miami.
Yeah, they did.
Yeah, you're not wrong.
Scoloni just across the street from me,
going to get cafe sitos and empanadas down the street,
along with me at Family Empanada,
my favorite place and all of
brichelle let's dig into maybe the most exciting move of the office of this of the transfer window
maybe the most exciting move of the year the legend himself the david goss nominated all-star
matthew schwann here is headed back to major league Soccer. It is the biggest move LAFC has ever made and he can be the difference maker for them.
Yeah, I don't want a harsher vibe.
Just want to point out this deal is not done yet.
It's still, it's almost there.
They're at the finish line but not quite over it yet.
This would be a really good signing by LAFC.
I remember somebody pointed out to me a couple months ago, like hey, Chris, like Chris Hoffers
and LAFC, same old issue.
Like you know, Schwannier is there, right?
And I was just like, no way, really?
Like that it's like, and here it is like Matthew Schwannier getting close to getting back to
MOS, go to LAFC, think this would be a really, really good move for both parties.
He's just a really good player who can fit a lot of different roles or systems or, you
know, he can shade his game however asked because he's just a really good player and David Goss helped will him into the
All-Star game he was there on merit but David Goss made sure to shine put a
spotlight on him in Montreal when nobody else was and so how do you feel about
this? Electric. It's gonna change the league. It's gonna change the entire
infrastructure of the league everything we say about it everything we do he is a
really good soccer player.
He is a little bit different than the players they have.
I think there's a little more nuance in passing to his game than sort of more
the North-South pieces that they have.
It is like the 15th central midfielder that they have that's like a good to great MLS center mid.
I don't know where all of those numbers end up, but he's a player we've seen him play at wing back at fullback as a six as an eight, you know in a three man midfield where he pushes a
little bit higher so he can do a little bit of everything and
LAFC really likes players like that where it's like you can guarantee that player has a high floor and that any coach can work with them
Is anyone individually in all of that like a difference maker and the best player on the field
and gonna win a championship?
I don't know.
Matthew Schoenraer, of course, would be that one.
But he's pushed himself into the starting Canadian team.
He's an awesome player and he can be a good add.
We know they need a center back, like we've talked about that.
I thought last night it was the full Belonga experience,
gets into these unbelievable positions
Okay, he's gonna seal this game make it easy for them and he kept getting stonewalled or chipped it over the keeper or whatever
It was in situations. No other player gets in but when he's not finishing that's sort of the problem that you end up with with
this team, so
Chouinere is not a bad ad but like does this put I don't know a Mark Delgado or a Tillman
Does it make them available? Does it make Igor Jesus available?
Like there's only so many spots in that mid Frankie Amaya's on this team Frank, but he's on loan, right? Yeah
So it would be tough for them. I mean they could terminate the loan, but my point being we've had questions from
Minnesota fans there's been questions with obinoneboto's injury from Cincinnati fans of like who's
the center mid that could be available. This is a whole list
of them. I don't know that any of those teams are gonna be
willing to give up enough to get them. Amaya would be the
number one I would say, but that doesn't really make sense.
Right. Right. Yeah. No, it's just that they have a lot of
good players down central midfield and I know that was a
neat like they obviously address that with Amaya on Deadline Day
in the spring.
So that was something they were focused on.
I didn't know what they were going to do with this group because, you know, hey, maybe if
they were going to use one of the DP spots on a 10, but I would be doubtful of that now
because of adding Chuanye because again, you have five starting level players for three
spots, which is a good problem to have, yeah you're not gonna go ahead a DP 10 I
don't think at least but we'll see at LAFC you're in a really good spot other
than the long injury they need to address that they will address that this summer
they'll have the two DP spots open whether or not that one gets filled with
Dilraucin who's on loan for another week I believe it it was timed with the
opening of the secondary transfer window.
So again, hey, maybe he stays, but also like that's still if they do,
then that'd be using one of the DP spots.
They can add two DPs again, whether it is him or not,
but it's going to be a busy summer for LAFC and a really, really important one.
You broke some news around Charlotte FC that their bid for Yorgos Yakumakis has been rejected today,
looking for a replacement
still for Patrick Ajumot.
Correct.
Yorgos Yakumakis is a player that the club are interested in and they open negotiations
with a loan deal that a loan offer that Cruz Azul Swifty rejected but talks are ongoing
between the clubs.
Charlotte has his priority rights, his discovery rights, so they, you know, showing an interest
in the player, the former Atlanta United striker. he was very productive in his minutes for Cruz Azul. I
think he had 16 goal contributions in like 1600 minutes. That's really good. But the
problem there was the 1600 minutes. It was a little bit of injury and then a little bit
of being second choice because Cruz Azul has a lot of good options. I think he'd be a really
good signing in MLS. And again, it's not about whether he'd be productive it'd be whether or not
he can play three thousand minutes two dozen like whatever the numbers that you
want to put their self
as of right now
talks are ongoing
exploring alone at first because they know cruz is all want to get rid of the
player
and so they're trying to use that as leverage is ok can't keep the most
flexibility in and the most
favorable terms for us but talks are are ongoing. Nothing's there yet
But he will yaku makis will leave cruises all this summer
Charlotte FC are going to sign a DB forward and they there's mutual interest here
So we'll see if they can find the terms to get it done or not
Does Charlotte do their own scouting or they're like, oh did they play for Atlanta? Yeah, okay
Cool, like get them on the scouting board like is the list right now like Thiago Almada, Joseph Martinez, Yakko Maki?
Is that the whole power rankings?
I would love to see Tito Fijaba back if he's still playing.
I bet that dude will play forever.
Where's Yamil Asad right now?
Classic.
DC United legend Yamil Asad.
Where is he?
If Rob Ustri's listening to this, I know that we're breaking his heart.
Atlanta did get a draw last night, so there's that.
They did get a draw.
They gave up a Olympico to Zinkernagel
in like the third minute.
Brad Guzzon had the broken nose, raccoon mask style on.
That was just...
And then ended up scoring, I think it was Will O'Reilly,
in like the 90th minute to equalize.
That was like, no Olympico is bad. Yeah, that was like the worst Olymp minute to equalize. That was like no Olympico is bad.
It was like the worst Olympico.
Like it's just just like waist high right through the middle of the front of the
six.
Like seven Atlanta defenders that just watch it go like Morantchuk could just like
jumped it missed it and then like four players and Guzan just I just it's that
typified the 2025 Atlanta United experience for me is just like disappointing
and you watch it and it's just like how did that get through? Of course they're down one nothing now in the second minute
because of that. So it was poetic. It was not a pretty performance from this Atlanta team who,
by the way, somehow we won Charlotte's Atlanta. I guess Yaki Maki's have not been paid for
Tiago Amada and Tiago Amada could be headed to Atletico Madrid. Is headed. Is headed.
And some of that money will bounce back to Atlanta via their sell-on.
So no.
The, actually, 25 million is what they're owed, not been paid.
I think that they're using the Boa Vista plan here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We'll give it to you.
They had to take, like they took. After we sell one more of our Premier, and I know we'll give it to you whenever they had they had to take like they took
I sell one more of our Premier League teams then we'll have the money
Botafogo has sold like five players
Which is their own team that they've got to pay for it
No, there's like there's that triple deal like three Botafogo players are going to Nottingham Forest
Which is the team that's now getting the spot instead of
Crystal Palace who they owned and whatever. Woody Johnson taking over.
My apologies to all Crystal Palace fans. Give up hope now.
So yeah Atlanta have not gotten paid for Tiago Amada but when they do
that'll be now the second highest fee in league history behind John Duran if we're
including Celons.
John Duran by the way hold on I'm going on a tangent now. John Duran just didn't show up for training at Fenerbahce for his
first day. This dude is unbelievable, man.
Which he's been sent on loan from Saudi Arabia to Fenerbahce?
He's played for three clubs in like nine months. How quickly-
He's looking to break our record.
Saudi Arabia, Alan Assir, like let him go immediately to
Fenerbahce with no fight, no nut, like that's a bad sign dude.
Getting, like they like was framed as like Jose Marino really wanted him and
that was it. Jose Marino's like I'm disappointed that he didn't show up on
the first day. It's just like dude this kid, it was like that when he got here to
Chicago. Well he was 17 years old at the time. 18. Yeah. And like, again, we excuse it because
of maturity or whatever, but like he did the classic, like I was just doing Instagram live
where I talk about how much this place sucks and I want to leave. Like Chicago had to be
like, can you just not say that publicly? I love Al Nassir spending $77 million on something
but they're like, we don't actually really need this this isn't worth our time
Dude he gets to Aston Villa
He's doing all the things trying to like leave to go to West Ham and like I was still at the athletic at the time
And I was talking to our like Aston Villa guy Jacob and was like
He like he said he was like trying to do something on John Durant and he goes yeah, and I was like hey man
This was his playbook in Chicago. I just want to let you know he goes oh yeah like I was like yeah this is nothing new
like this isn't a one-off it's kind of what I was trying to warn him like so me and him will like
go back like whenever his name is in the news or something like this like still still reconnect
over it so John Durant thank you for keeping friendships alive. Last one to close on here
we'll do a little alness hereier breakdown for his Fenerbahce a
little bit more later, is Vancouver dominant performance in Houston.
Sabi, the goal in like the second or third minute sort of deflected.
It looked like Vancouver again though, open, flowing, attacking from a lot of different
areas.
Sebastian Borahalter back in the team.
It just seems like helps every single thing.
Apparently Greg was asked about his goal and he was like it Sebastian only just scores bangers, which is awesome after the Chicago game
So we talked about the Pedro Vitae sale last time and how unfortunate it was
It is now reported that the number is seven million dollars
Which again we kind of already knew the financials for everyone was going to be a nice chunk of change
I still think it makes the league a little bit weaker overall that moves like this happen
Yeah, and again, I don't have any confirmation on the number but
I'm sure the ballpark is right like they wouldn't be selling them for three million, right?
Like so whether it's a give or take a little bit like it's a good fee
It's a fair fee like you said everything that we said Tuesday stands up
I think but it's good for Vancouver to get that win because
it seemed like things were sliding a little bit negatively. And then they go to Houston
and get a good win. Houston is a quandary.
I know. I'm still in. I bought stock. I have re-bought stock over the last two months.
I'm buying it up off of everyone else who's given up.
And every time they get healthy and more pieces in, they have one of these games where they
trip on their own shoelaces and they make it all feel miserable.
We're headed to Texas next week.
We're going to be in Austin, of course, who grinded out a win and somehow are sitting
in the playoffs right now.
And Houston like cannot seem to close ground and the gap is starting to open up in that playoff race.
Speaking of, let's talk about the playoff race
and the shield race.
By the way, that Pedro Vite,
I think it's like about $5 million in profits
if that's what it ends up being.
$2 million player U22 initiative.
So like, yeah, it is a huge chunk of money
for them to go out and get one or two more Pedro Vites,
but also look at how long it took him to settle
and get to where he is.
And this is a team that feels like they could be in a win now mode.
Um, I want to talk about the shield race because we come out of a weekend and
some of it starts to feel a bit defined, right?
Miami beats Nashville at home.
Columbus has the comeback win over FC Cincinnati.
Philadelphia continues winning.
So you're starting to feel like, all right, this is where we stand.
This will sort of be the teams like Cincinnati had dropped off. Columbus is starting to feel like, all right, this is where we stand. This will sort of be the teams like Cincinnati had dropped off.
Columbus is starting to gain confidence.
Miami with these points in game, you know, points, or games in hand and points.
You got you got there. You got to get there eventually.
They're going to be in a pretty good spot.
Boom. You were wrong.
So Cincinnati loses at home to Columbus.
Three days later, they beat Miami at home.
Columbus, they went on the road,
they go and they play in their next game at Nashville. They lose to Nashville, a Nashville
team that had just lost to Miami. Miami going to lose to Cincinnati. So the whole mix of
everyone in the middle there decided, yeah, we don't really want to separate at all. We
don't really want to have any big gap between us Columbus is in fourth right now on
41 points behind Philadelphia 1.78 points per game
We could argue if they're in or out of this Miami's in fifth, but on 1.9 points per game
Heading into last night
They were leading the shield race in points per game and they're almost exactly the same as Nashville
they were leading the shield race in points per game. And they're almost exactly the same as Nashville,
a tick behind Cincinnati barely,
and all of that just behind Philadelphia,
which is currently on two points per game.
46 points on the top of the Eastern Conference.
You have some Western Conference teams around this.
San Diego, 42 points.
You wanna win a shield, you probably shouldn't lose
at home to Toronto FC in midweek
with them traveling across the country, everything else
involved with that. Vancouver with a game in hand on some of these teams at 1.86 points
per game. They could leap up into this. LAFC have a number of games in hand as well, but
they're probably some points behind this. All of this in saying, Tom, then you go down
to the bottom of the standings in some of these conferences. Charlotte right now on points per game, very similar to Chicago in ninth and tenth.
New England, who threw up all over themselves in the second half yesterday.
Seven points behind the playoff line. It does not feel like it's going to be a tight race there.
We might have more teams in the shield race when we get to the end of the year in the Eastern Conference
than we have in the playoff race, which is not something we've ever seen before.
Yes, it's, it's the Eastern Conference is very, very interesting.
I think we went into the season talking about the top of this conference is going to be
extremely strong.
There's a lot of what we thought to be really elite teams.
And even so, there have been more joined that conversation.
Like I think we all saw, or all expected,
Cincy, Columbus, Miami to be in the mix here.
We didn't see Philly all the way this.
I was as high on Philly as anybody else,
and I think I've had them at like, you know, Sabbath, right?
Nashville are legitimately really, really good
at the top of this conference.
Orlando was flirting with it.
They've been on a bit of a downturn
over the last couple weeks, including last night. And then again, you have Red Bulls and Charlotte. That's nine pretty damn good teams. And five of
them are firmly in the shield race with 11 games left for most teams. This is a really late time
of the year to have so many teams in the mix. We also thought that because there's a lot of
these good teams that, hey, the playoff, off like I think is gonna be tight at the top
But also like the playoff line and like you just laid out playoff line ain't that tight like it's
Chicago's the only team below the playoff line that you could
Realistically say are in the mix right now that can change maybe teams get hot
I doubt it but like New England are in 11th. There's seven points behind Charlotte like
What gives you any confidence that that team is going to make up that ground?
And then behind New England's Toronto, who are 11 points behind Charlotte for that last spot.
So it's really 10 teams going for those nine spots.
Whereas like, you know, again, with just the nature of the playoffs and so many teams,
you'd expect that you could talk yourself into it for a lot more teams.
If you look at the Western Conference, that's much more wide open, much more typical of
a playoff race.
So yeah, I gotta say, it is a good point that there are many more teams within the shield
race than there are people fighting for the playoff line.
And the Eastern Conference is just a beast this year.
Over the next four to five games, now that everyone's played each other 15 times in a
week, you're not going to see as many matchups of the teams that are sort of in this
convo. The big one is that in two weeks, um, uh,
Cincinnati will head to Miami. Otherwise now these teams,
the question and I think what it's going to end up defining this race is who can
go and pick up points against the worst teams.
Like who can be more consistent over the stretch of the season we've seen over
the last few years.
I think back to the big race being that year
when Montreal, Philadelphia and LAFC,
and LAFC and Philadelphia ending up making its MLS Cup,
were all in the race up until the final like seven days.
So those head to head matches matter,
but it's like, it's the mistakes you make.
It's the losses to TFC at home
that end up coming back to bite you.
It's Vancouver sort of wobble against other teams, not against the dominant
teams against you that are really going to be a big part of making this race
and defining it. I'm stoked to cover it because I think having a situation
where there's a lot of different teams that could win, they all seem to have
a different identity there.
I think you would like to see more consistency and like you'd like to see greatness in there. But at the same time, this is super entertaining
and fun. Evander elevated his game and carried them to a win. I thought Nashville survived
the first half against Columbus where you're like, right, Nashville has been a possession
team. They're on the spectrum now, but the end of that scale is Columbus.
And like, you kind of got that feeling in the first half.
And then Nashville gets the goals.
And in the second half, they came out, they were flowing.
They were fun to watch.
Columbus was struggling to hang on in that game.
And like, all of these teams are capable
of those moments against each other.
The big question I think right now
is can Philadelphia sustain?
Because they were able to survive a lot of thin rosters because of international breaks and
injuries and they're back now they are not a club you'd expect to invest
heavily to improve that in this window but investment at this point may not
get you over the top short of like yo okay a red Rigo de Paul dropping in and
knowing these players like if it takes players time to adjust what you have
talked about all year is like there's only eight games left starting for most of these teams starting from next Thursday
Yeah, so let's let's talk about Philly. Um, do you think that the ins?
Do you think that they're gonna get in the insinuous week takes maybe that's the that's maybe that's it for us
Um, no, so Philly what hey, what free my no, they wouldn't
It blocks the kids
And I don't I would not recommend that for anybody. Anyway, stupid joke aside.
Philadelphia, the way that they can air quote invest in this team is by not selling
McConaughey, Danly Jean-Jacques, and Quinn Sullivan this summer.
Those are three players that they're getting offers for.
I can tell you that with certainty.
McConaughey in particular is a
really really interesting player. His rise this season has been awesome. He's been a
rock for them. I know that they want to keep him. Philly is Philly right? Everybody has
a price. They're not going to if the player wants to go right like then they could readjust
that but as what I'm being told here a week before the window opens for signings is that
they want to keep these three players
Particularly Makanya and Sullivan just because of the timing for both of them
Sullivan just signed a new contract this winter
So the players camp wouldn't be in a spot to be really pushing for him out not even suggesting that he wants to leave, right?
but
Dian Lee Jean Jacques just because he's been here a little longer
His age right like that would be if one of the three. That's just my own speculation.
Unless a crazy big offer comes. And guess what? McConnig is playing great. Scoring goals
helps for center back too, right? Like, he scored one last night. He's been really, really
good for this team. So I hope Philly's investment is we're not losing these guys.
There is a possibility that they bring in a serious center forward play. They try to
replace players before they leave. A shorter timeline was
they acquired Indiana Vets 11 a month later when they let Gazda go to Columbus. Ty Borrebo
came in a year before Carranza left or whatever the time it happened, whatever the time it
was. They've done this with center backs, right? They've done this everywhere on the
pitch that they can. They try to be proactive. Mikael O'Reilly is out of contract this winter
and Ty Borrebo wants a new contract.
Guess what? He ain't getting it.
He ain't getting what he wants from Philly.
So let's see what's going to happen in his situation.
So maybe they bring somebody in as like we're planning for departures in the future.
If they're just able to keep the team together, it's a big if for the Philadelphia.
They're just able to keep the team together.
They're absolutely right there and should be taking the shield race down to the full down to the wire.
It is going to be awesome to watch Philadelphia ahead of schedule. How do they handle it will
be a big part of this. Let's move on here though and let's bring in our newest friend
here at now. Our kickback family. We have Susanna Fuller with us who I just texted to
say I'm pulling you in, therefore, fully prepared for us
to bring in.
Hi.
Suze, thank you for being here.
That's so.
Sorry, if you're watching on video,
that reveal from Suze,
let's get down and coming up.
Full LAFC.
I was literally. Incredible.
Need to clip that.
Clip that for you.
Reading a text message from David Goss.
Hi guys.
Saying about 12 minutes ago, we're going to bring you in in three minutes when
we finished this shield combo. And Tom goes, Oh, did you talk about the Philadelphia
Union? Let's talk about Lorenzo and Signe for 10 minutes, which is irrelevant.
And then move on to whatever else we were going to make up and going to talk about.
Glad to be here.
We did our emergency podcast explaining a lot going on around kickback and going
on around soccer wise
Coming forward which we are really really excited about we're excited all to work together
We're excited to expand things more coverage more shows talking about more of what we all love and what we're going to be doing
And we're gonna get to start in person. We are going to be going to Austin, Texas next week for the MLS All-Star game
We're gonna have an event presented by Blue Sky,
which is the coolest thing I can think of.
We'll be at Haymaker, 6 p.m. local time, as I said.
Danny Pereira, fingers crossed, will be there with us
and everything else.
And we are going to be launching one of our newest projects
that we're gonna be working on at that show.
It is our 50 States of Soccer.
So the plan is, we are, if I can do math,
which is questionable, we are 48 weeks away
from the World Cup kicking off in 2026
here in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
And our idea was to celebrate the smaller soccer communities
that are a part of building an atmosphere
that is capable of having a World Cup
and celebrating more locally along the way.
So every single week we are going to celebrate a individual state and their soccer.
And then somewhere in there we're going to celebrate multiple states because 48 to 50 plus
DC. The document I made has Guam in parentheses or anyone else involved. I think Claudio Pagan
would tell us we should throw Puerto Rico in there. Definitely.
I can speak on her behalf. She definitely will say that.
I mean, you know I'm down for the 8 to 10 territories and provinces in Canada as well.
So we'll figure out ways to put all of this together. But I think we're really excited
for this project, what we're going to be doing. Susan, we're going to be doing it in different
ways across all of our different platforms. And that's kind of the idea between having
SACWISE and Kickback Committee and all these other things that we can work
on.
It's such a, it's a great idea too, because I feel like we're going to learn so much and
like discover these like amazing nuggets about places. Um, I just be like, no way that guy's
from there or that that's there. I mean, I just, I'm, I'm very excited. I love, I love
little like trivia things like this that I can
then add to my arsenal and then one day it's going to be a Jeopardy question and I'm going
to be like, I know this.
Did I mute myself? I did mute myself.
You mute yourself.
So Suze, what we are going to do to start is we're going to do the state of Texas because
we'll be in Texas, which is going to be a tough one. And we have had people say to us like,
okay, if you're doing some of these states,
you have to break them up.
NorCal, SoCal is different.
Texas has, Houston, Dallas, whatever.
It's not gonna happen.
We're just gonna have to make hard decisions.
We're just gonna piss people off.
We're gonna have hard conversations.
I think that's like a very real possibility.
My guess would be there'd be very few ways
I could structure this one,
which we don't
piss everyone off.
So we're going to start on Texas.
Talk about the best players in Texas history is going to be impossible.
Like it is a crazy state, but we've got some other stuff that we're going to be doing where
we want some input.
The whole thing for us is going to be getting input from people who are on the ground who
know these places better than us.
So we're going to be asking for-
Is it Clit Dempsey going to be at the skills challenge too?
He is going to be competing in the skills challenge.
Because I would love to like hear his take on who he thinks is the best player to come
out of Texas.
Do you not think his list of five would be like Dylon style Clint, Clint, Clint, Clint?
That's a great point. Great point. Does he have more like Clint, Deuce, Dempsey?
Like is there another nickname for Dempsey?
What was his rapper name?
Oh, was it not Deuce?
I think it was Deuce. Was it just Deuce?
Oh, OK. Dang.
We're going to get there, though.
I'm going to think about this on the plane.
We can we can come up with two or three more nicknames for Clint Dempsey.
We're going to be reaching out to people.
We want to know from all of you, for each state,
we're going to do best bar, best soccer bar,
the hallowed ground, which I put in the doc
as the Rucker Park of everywhere.
Because some places it's a stadium,
but some places it's like,
this is where everyone plays pickup,
or this is where the high school championships are.
And these are like the great battles we've had.
I think there's a lot of really cool spots around the U S and then we can make
it a road trip. We could drive around 50 states and hit all of them into it.
It's brilliant. Absolutely. So after, after we do Texas,
we're going to do every one state and Suzanne,
I'm putting you on the spot now because you have a couple of states you can
claim. I know it's going to be your state. I,
I've thought about this a lot, actually, probably way more than I should have.
But I think because I've only been a Tennessee resident for about six months now, I just
I don't like in some ways I was like, oh, this would be a great opportunity to really
educate myself on the soccer history in Tennessee.
Very very useful.
But then, you know, I'm a Chicago girl.
Like I grew up just outside of the Windy City
and that is where, you know, that's my safe space.
That's where I am most familiar.
And I feel like I have sort of the most to offer
and insight into the soccer scene
in the Chicagoland area in Illinois.
So I think I'm gonna pick Illinois as my state.
Staying true, true to the roots.
It's a pretty good soccer state.
Yeah.
And it's probably one where there's a decent bar or two.
There are some great-
At least in that one category.
Great soccer bars in Chicago.
Tom, what state do you think you'll be selecting?
What state will you be representing most?
Everybody's saying it right now.
They know.
I don't even need to say it.
That's the brand.
That's the brand.
Are there soccer players from New Jersey?
Like, is that going to be an easy one to do?
Yeah, it is the foundation of the national team.
Oh my God.
We're going to need to get Tony Mioda on this episode.
Big Tones is a good one.
We have, so what our plan is on Soccer Wise every week
we're gonna do a combined five-a-side.
So between myself, you and Jordan,
we're going to pick the five best players
to put together a five-a-side from the history
of that state across the men's and women's teams.
New Jersey's gonna be one of the tough ones
because I mean Tobin Heath just retired.
You talk about Big Tone, talk about Tab Ramos.
Josie Altidore can claim New Jersey and sometimes does.
I just read a Giuseppe Rossi article about New Jersey.
I mean, 50% of the Rutgers women's soccer alumni
are national team players.
In breaking up states, Tom, do you rep Southern Jersey?
Like if someone's an Eagles fan, you still repping them?
I hate you for, you know what you're doing right now.
Central Jersey, down the beach. Yeah yeah in the grand scheme of things if we're talking about it in the landscape of 50 states
Yeah, we're gonna include, you know the Philadelphia suburbs down there, you know, South Jersey is a little bit like Pennsylvania
But it's within the state borders for me. But if we're talking about more localized and absolutely it's like all that's bird's country
That's you know, South Jersey is Pennsylvania and then the farther out you go then it's like, oh, that's bird's country. That's, you know, South Jersey is Pennsylvania.
And then the farther out you go, then it's like, okay, we're all under the same roof
here.
So, Jersey is Jersey, most of all.
Yeah, but the culture of Jersey is North Jersey and Central Jersey.
100%.
You know, I was in a room once where someone said they were from Central Jersey and everyone
else said that's not a real place.
Stop saying that.
I'm going to swing at you.
It's digital for now. So I think that's cool.
Yeah. I'm going to see you in a few days, brother.
I'm excited about that. That is something I'm looking forward to.
One of the convos we're going to have as well on the committee every week is game day foods because stadium food felt too specific,
but I think every state has a great food that could be
a tailgate food, could be a game day food.
And I think that may end up being our bracket coming out of all this, because I need a bracket.
As Tom knows, I like to try and win everything.
And at some point we have to get a setup where we put everything in and we vote.
Guess what?
Guess what my vote is going to be.
I don't need to see the other teams.
What is the, what's the Jersey input on this? If we're doing a bracket of the 50 states. But I'm saying what's the
game day food? Game day food? Yeah. It could be pork roll. Good Italian. Do you know I never even knew what pork roll was until like a year ago?
You worked with Alexis Guerrero and you didn't know what pork roll was? He's the one that told me about it and I was like
what are you talking about?
Because he kept asking players that would come on the show.
I knew if you had pork roll, if you had pork roll.
Taylor Hammer Pork Roll.
And I was like, dude, what is this bit?
I don't understand.
Like, somebody explain it to me.
And yeah, he literally looked at me like I was from a different planet.
He's like, how do you not know this? And I was like, I'm sorry.
You went to New York for so long.
I know. Never.
They're not in New York. That's the thing. It's a New Jersey thing. The Taylor Ham and
the Fort Croft.
Do you know what's crazy? I saw it. They call it the Kroger's down here in Tennessee. It's
not Kroger. It's the Kroger's. So I was in the Krogers and I saw Taylor Ham.
And I was like, what is this doing in East Tennessee?
It was very bizarre.
My favorite idea about this is that they're not actually even like genuine Krogers.
It's just a generic name for grocery stores now like Kleenex.
They're like, are you going to down to the Kroger's later?
Okay, so we are going to be in Austin on Tuesday. We're very excited.
We're all gonna be hanging out.
We're gonna do our 50 States of Soccer.
We're gonna hang out and talk about the committee.
We will be there starting probably before six o'clock,
quite honestly, so if you wanna come by,
have a drink, hang out.
The weather will be gorgeous.
It'll be a balmy 195 and whatnot.
Going into the skills challenge.
It's going to be a ton of fun.
So come join us at Haymaker and we're going to be hanging out and talking all things soccer
and whatnot.
Before I let you go, Suze, I have two big questions for you.
One, can you give us a USL League One update from yesterday and maybe the biggest result
of the evening?
Well, obviously the biggest result was the big three one win for
one knocks baby. Let's go. It's a huge, this was a six pointer because AV alta had not,
I think they were unbeaten in 10 matches heading into last night and they had been kind of climbing
up the standings. They're still in second place, but one Knox has like three games in hand.
They've had a couple games have to get rescheduled and so much of the start of their season,
they had to go on the road and so they had some breaks because they were waiting for
the stadium to open.
So they've got like three games in hand on most of these teams.
So they're sitting in fifth right now, but they're only three points behind AV Alta who
are in second with, yes yes with like three games in hand
and and last night, apparently I need to get to the bottom of
this. There was some drama in the Spokane match Spokane are
sitting on top of the table. Yes. So apparently they're
playing Westchester. And they brought in a player as a sub who was like not registered and he ended
up he ended up drawing the game winning penalty which gave them the three to win and so because
this player was not registered and the refs didn't notice they might have to forfeit this
result and that is bye bye three points for Spokane.
So that was a big drama last night in USL.
That is football heritage.
Was it Milhevich?
Was it the US national team player who played it
in a Montreal Midslea game?
Oh my god.
No, it may have been Luis Gil.
That was a wild story.
I don't think it was on that scale, but still.
I was like, this little sketch.
Little sucks.
Man, it sucks for the player who would like, hey,
I'd love to play on this professional
soccer team.
And they're like, we'll play you, but we won't list you.
We don't want to be associated.
But if we do bring you in, please play well and do things like draw a penalty kick.
Exactly.
That is our USL update.
And then following that, in MLS, we had the debut of all of these retro kits and some
of these throwback kits.
I said to Tom, do you want to talk about this?
He said, yeah, this isn't exactly in my wheelhouse.
And so I moved to the expert now.
Listen, Tom had no confidence in his ability
to talk about this, which I disagree with.
So I-
I've got one pitch here.
That's sick, dude.
What do you think, Suze?
I wonder, I'm wondering, Suze,
if you could help guide us along
in maybe some of your top picks
or your most interesting kits that you have seen so far.
I mean, there were some real winners and it was tough for me to hone in.
There were three to me that just stood out that I was like, on any given day, one of
these could be my favorite.
The Minnesota one with the loons, like the old school loon script was just straight fire. The clash was so perfectly 90s. Like I just feel like everything
about it was just like such a throwback. And then I loved the Seattle one with the orca
on it. And it had the, you know, do you remember like back
in the nineties, I'm totally dating myself,
but like everything was like teal and purple.
Yeah.
Like everyone wanted like a Charlotte Hornets.
Yeah.
Everyone wants to be Mugsy Bogues in a starter jacket.
Exactly.
And that, so the Seattle one reminded me of like
that sort of palette that we saw so prominently in the 90s and then it had the cute little
orcas.
Those were my top three.
I think the Clash might be my favorite.
But-
Suze, any love for the Jorts in Nashville?
Because that's won my heart, of course.
100%.
100%.
And I love it because it's so Tennessee.
It's like the only team. It's what you'd buy at the's like the only team it's what you'd
buy at the Kroger's it's what you wear to the Kroger's. You guys there is a I'm not
kidding there is a Kroger's here down the road from me where you can buy
Jorts like they have a clothing section this is not just a grocery store. Yes I'm all in.
I'm all in on the Kroger. I just learned about it. Literally everything.
Fifteen minutes ago.
I'm all in.
You can definitely get Jorts there.
Yes.
So those are very Tennessee specific and I did love the Nashville font as well.
I thought that was very well done.
I agree on the font.
I love the Nashville one.
I will say one of the tough parts about the game was that only the home teams were wearing
them.
And so it sort of felt like a FIFA game where you're like one person was like,
oh, I'm going to go with this.
And the other person's like, yeah, I'm just going to pick the standard,
which I thought was a bizarre setup.
Yeah.
It's also fun because some of them are throwbacks to their own originals,
like Colorado and New England, which I thought were really, really good.
And yet the fake throwbacks, like the loons one ended up probably being the best ones.
You just have the full creative license.
Minnesota, Nashville, I agree with. Charlotte for me, low key. It's a good one. like the loons one ended up probably being the best ones. You just have the full creative license.
Minnesota, Nashville, I agree with.
Charlotte for me, low key.
It's good one.
It's like lime green.
I love a collar.
The way the crown is.
The collar was good.
I agree.
I love a collar as well.
I was just kind of puzzled by it.
I just was like.
None of it has anything to do with anything.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They look good.
Blank sheet made it up and then like in 10 years
we're gonna do a throwback to this,
which will be a throwback to a throwback.
Yeah.
But shout out to Bangalore for throwing in there the jorts
because I thought they were absolutely incredible.
I look forward to Susanna delivering jorts for me and Tom
to wear in Austin, Texas.
From the Kroger's that we'll be wearing in Austin.
We will be on the ground starting on Monday.
We will be around doing a lot of fun stuff Tuesday.
Our live show, 6 p.m. local time at the Haymaker Bar.
And then you can hang out and watch Skills Challenge with us
or you can go there after and come back after even that
and hang out and we'll be around on game day as well
if Tom and me survive playing a little bit of pickup.
It is gonna be an incredible week.
We're really excited for the work we're doing here at Kickback Media and we're so excited
to get it off the ground and be in person.
That's kind of why we started this whole thing.
We like going to soccer games.
We like being around soccer fans.
We like being around each other.
So it's going to be a great opportunity for us to do that.
If you have not, go on social and check out our Crest
Explainer. It's one of the few things I'm really, really proud of right now in my life
and so I need a little bit more validation from it, from everyone as well.
Suze, thanks for taking the time to join us here.
Thanks for having me guys.
Right at the end of the show. We are excited for all things Kickback Committee, so we are
going to launch it in person in Austin
and then every single week going forward after that.
Thank you as always to Tommy Scoops,
to everyone in the chat
and we'll talk to you all again very, very soon. you
