and due to the nature of certain relationships between people I know, I've had to keep this to myself at the request of the victims but have recently found writing to be a great outlet. Anyway, here goes. I was 21 living in San Francisco with three roommates, two girls, one other guy and myself who's a guy. One of my roommates who well-called Tyler was dating a girl I had been friends with since high school who well-call Rachel. Me and Rachel had hung out a lot in high school and I ended up being pretty cool with her family. Her dad Brian, in particular. He acted like he was our age, he would drink with us,

show us guns he had, take us out in his boat. He had done well for himself, owned a mansion in San Francisco, had two daughters and a wife and a good career. I remember him showing me the shotgun he had sought off the stock and barrel of, this was the kind of stuff he did and when I was younger I thought he was a cool guy who most of my friends really liked. Misty, not her real name, was another good friend of mine throughout high school and it was common for us to all go out drinking together. Rachel had just graduated from college and a friend of hers from said college had come to live with her and her family as their house was massive in San Francisco until she got on her

feet finically. Well, call her Rose. I had met her the previous summer when she came to SF to spend the summer and stayed at Rachel's house. All of this backstory is relevant to the plot I promise. So one night we all go out drinking, Misty, Tyler, Rachel, Rose, myself and a few others who don't matter in this story. It was a wild night, the drinking got excessive way to fast and before I knew it Misty was passed out and it seemed like a good time for us all to pile into Rachel's SUV and go home. Rachel decided she wanted to stay with Tyler at our place as couples often do.

So it arranged that we would drive to Rachel's house to drop off Misty and Rose. Misty would crash in Rachel's bed so we carried her up there and put her in bed, fully dressed but not conscience. She did this all the time so whilst I may appear to be a shitty friend, not as shitty as it appears. Rose had her own room she had been staying in, all bedrooms in this house were on the second floor or higher. So we dropped them off and head back to our place, Tyler and Rachel go to his room to go to bed or to poke or whatever and I went to my room to get high. Now it's about 4 a.m. and I've been home for about an hour when my phone rings. Now it's important to know that Misty was Slash as kind of a drama queen, she has consistently gotten too drunk and caused scenes. Also her being like 5 foot nothing and probably 100 pounds

soaking wet, she was easy to handle when she got out of control. I see it's her, Misty, calling and when I pick up the first thing I hear is crying. What's going on Misty? I asked, you need to come and get me, she replied I assumed she was drunk and maybe had a fight with Rose and thought she was probably making a big deal out if nothing. When I asked if it was all going to blow over by the time I got there, whatever the issue was. She said no. I need you to tell me what's going on if I'm going to leave my house and come get you, I explained, Brian raped me. She said, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck F-U-C-K, this is bad. I just woke up and he was having sex with me. When I started to struggle he kept going until he was done, she said through tears, I can hear him downstairs. In a very calm voice I told her I needed her to go upstairs to Rose's room and wake her up and to just pass her the phone.

After a few minutes of her telling me she was scared and me telling her it was okay, she left her room and embed the stairs to the third floor where Rose stayed. I very much still drunk Rose came on the phone and I basically told her to St.FU and listen. I explained to her what had just happened and what would be happening next. Because I ride a motorcycle I was going to need a car because there was no way I was leaving Rose alone in that house with Brian that night, as I later learned his wife was out of town. Thus I needed a vehicle that could take three. I remembered Misty had dropped her car off at Rachel's at the beginning of the night so I figured if I rode my motorbike to Rachel's house, I could have Misty bring her keys out with them

and I could drive them in her car. I grabbed collapsible impact batten and my brass knuckles and walked out the door thinking, these will do great against a crazy guy with everything to lose and a sawed off. I raced the two or three miles to her house then called Misty and told them to come outside. The house has a large set of staircases leading up to the front door patio that's maybe 30 feet from the sidewalk and 20 feet off the ground. Misty told me she was too scared and started bawling so I told her I would walk up to the front door and meet them there as they made their escape to somewhere substantially less rapy.

Listening to Rose's words of encouragement to Misty over the phone, I could make out the sound of them starting the descent from the third floor. As they reached the final staircase, which sits in view of the partially glass front door on the house, they started to almost run. So these two anti-ninjas open the door and spill out onto and then down the steps and I see Brian turn a corner to lock eyes with me.

We were maybe 15 to 20 feet from each other, but the expression on his face couldn't have been more clear and I'd like to think he would say the same about me that night. Nothing was said and it didn't need to be, we both knew two things, what had just happened upstairs. And the fact that neither one of us knew what the other one of us was about to do next. I'm not ashamed to say I was genuinely scarred that night. I turned and ran down the stairs to catch up with the girls who were on route to Misty's car. We got into her car and I started driving back in the direction of my house,

which a PlayStation happened to be just slightly off route to. I started in as gently as I could and remained that way the entire time you could say I was pressuring her to go to the police. She kept telling me it was largely her fault for putting herself in that position which I understand her to think in her present trauma-ridden victimized mindset, but the reality of her statement was fucking disgusting as it was and never is the victim's fault in rape. No simply means no, that some kindergarten shit everybody should have at least a tenuous grasp on. After it became clear she didn't want to do that I asked if I could take her to a hospital.

I told her there would be woman there to talk to her and they could treat her medically as she had said several times, he really hurt me. I was well aware of the fact that they would give her a rape test kit so there would be something to go to the police with later if she changed her mind when everything calmed down. After not wanting to do that I told her I wanted her to have the option of doing something about this later if you change your mind and if not then nobody will ever know. She wouldn't budge and I wasn't going to argue with and further upset a friend who had just been raped. I knew if I wasn't an addict and wasn't then hiding from drug use that I would have just had Rose and Misty crash at our place, but that wouldn't have jived with my fixing so they were dropped at Rachel's. I felt bad about this for the first few days after until I realized it was the same line of reasoning Misty was going through, this was Brian's fault and nobody else's.

We drove back to my house and I made up a story about them calling me because they wanted to to smoke weed and so they drove over and ended up crashing. There was going to have to be some explanation as to why Rachel and Tyler had dropped them off elsewhere and woke into them at our spot. Misty really didn't want Rachel to know. I can't let her know her dad's a rapist, she kept saying. She got in my bed with me and I remember sitting there having no clue what to do. Here's a good friend of mine I've shared a bed with before and slept in contact with, she'll sit on my lap at parties and bars and it's understood were just friend and have never hooked up. Even though this tactile part of our friendship was frequent, I couldn't decide if I show try and put my arm around her in a comforting non-sexual way or if that

would be too much too soon considering the night's events. I ended up keeping a few feet away from her, figured she could come to me if she wanted said comfort. I waited for her to fall asleep and then I slipped out of bed and went to the living room where Rose was sitting, still awake watching TV. I sat down next to her and we just looked at each other and shook our heads. This was fucking crazy, I kept Thibkin and probably saying. We talked about it for a while and then her tone changed and she said, hey, you can't tell anyone this okay? I nodded. When I was staying here over the summer last year, the same thing happened to me. I was kind of floored. I told her how sorry I was and it dawned on me, this isn't the type of behavior that consists of isolated incidents.

This is a major pattern of behavior, this isn't something that just starts or ends when you're in your late 40s, early 50s as Brian was. He has two daughters, then 21 and 25, both of whom would always have friends stay at their house all throughout high school and on some breaks from university. Literally dozens of girls have crashed at that house and he had access to almost all of them, I'm sure. I don't think he did that often because both Rose and Misty are really timid meek people and I know he felt them out and kind of groomed them to know they wouldn't tell if he did. I doubt he would go after a really self-empowered, strong, independent girl slash woman. He seemingly knows what he's doing and that makes it all the more worse.
