Starting point is 00:00:00 The tragic story of Andromeda Cordero, victim, villain, or something in between. Opening scene How am I supposed to make people see that the real problem is him, not me? Everyone kept telling me, if the authorities find out you're living with violence in your house, they're going to take both of you. Not just him, both. Those were the words of Andromeda Cordero, a woman whose name would later shake headlines across Mexico. It was the first time she shared her side of the story, the version of events that led her, step by step, into one of the darkest chapters of her life.
Starting point is 00:00:39 A story that ended with her behind bars, convicted of one of the most disturbing crimes in the region's memory. But here's the question that still lingers in the air, was Andromeda truly a criminal, or was she another victim? That's the story we're about to dive into. And it's not just a true crime tale, it's a messy, emotional, deeply human story about love, betrayal, survival, obsession, violence, and a blurred line between self-defense and destruction. So grab a seat, because we're going to unpack this case from beginning to end, every little piece of evidence, every clue, every testimony. By the time we're done, you might not even know which side you're on. childhood and early life. Andromeda Cordero Flores was born around 1984 in Montere, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Starting point is 00:01:36 She was the second of four children in a family that, at first glance, looked solid. Her parents were both teachers, ordinary people with stable jobs, bookshelves filled with lesson plans, and a hope for their kids to do better. But life doesn't always go according to plan. Her parents' marriage didn't last. Not long after Andromeda was born, the couple separated. Her father moved on, rebuilt his life elsewhere, and slowly stepped away from his responsibilities. That left her mother, Yolanda Flores Garza, holding the reins, four kids, one paycheck, and no safety net.
Starting point is 00:02:17 Yolanda worked relentlessly, hopping from one job to another, chasing every opportunity she could find just to keep food on the table. The kids learned early what it meant to pack up, move, and start over in a new neighborhood. Despite the chaos, Yolanda drilled one thing into her daughter's heads, study hard. She told them over and over that education was their only shield. If fate ever threw them into the same painful situation she had lived through, abandoned, carrying everything on her back, they needed tools to survive. Andromeda, the second born, listened. She wasn't the type to rebel outright.
Starting point is 00:02:59 Instead, she tried to play the role of the good daughter, the one who followed instructions. Early studies and strange interests. In high school, she enrolled in a technical program with a medical focus. The idea was that she'd eventually pursue medicine, maybe become a doctor. And for a while, that plan excited her. She was fascinated by the human body, how it worked, how fragile and resilient it could be at the same time. But as time went on, doubts crept in. By the time she hit university, she was struggling.
Starting point is 00:03:37 Long hours, heavy courses, endless labs, it drained her. She realized medicine might not be her calling after all. After three semesters, she dropped out. Still, she didn't walk away empty-handed. During those years, she completed her social service working in funeral homes, as an embalmer. It sounds strange, even morbid, but she admitted later that she actually enjoyed the work. She had a curiosity for the human body, and embalming gave her a way to explore it without the pressure of medical school. Between 1999 and 2003, she worked in a couple of funeral homes, quietly perfecting the craft of preparing bodies for their final rest.
Starting point is 00:04:23 That experience, though dark, gave her a kind of calm. She wasn't afraid of death. A chance encounter Then came the night that changed everything. One ordinary evening, in a crowded nightclub in Monterey, Andromeda met Jesus Javier. Campos Mongia. He was celebrating his birthday, surrounded by friends, drinks flowing, music pounding. Jesus was everything she wasn't, older, established, confident, already divorced, childless, and successful. He was a lawyer with a promising career. Ten years her senior, he carried himself
Starting point is 00:05:04 like a man who had seen the world and survived it. The connection was immediate. A spark. After a couple of dates, they became official. Within seven months, they were married. Shifting Dreams Marriage didn't mean Andromeda gave up on her dreams entirely. She tried nutrition for a while but eventually realized it wasn't working for her either. Finally, she enrolled in a culinary institute. This time, she found her groove.
Starting point is 00:05:39 She loved cooking, experimenting, learning the food. the science of flavor. She graduated with a degree in gastronomy. But life had other plans. Shortly after finishing her degree, she got pregnant. Her husband wasn't thrilled about her continuing education anyway, so the pregnancy sealed the deal. The young couple welcomed their first child, a boy named Hesu said. For clarity's sake, we'll call him said from here on, to avoid confusion with his father. But happiness came with complications. Ced was diagnosed with a mild form of autism.
Starting point is 00:06:19 That diagnosis changed everything. Andromeda threw herself into motherhood. She wanted to dedicate her life to caring for said. But motherhood also trapped her inside the house. Days blurred together, feeding, cleaning, routines, therapies. She hated feeling useless. So she started making crafts. Knitting, jewelry, little trinkets, anything to keep her hands busy, anything to feel productive.
Starting point is 00:06:52 The first cracks. While Andromeda tried to adapt, her husband started showing his darker sides. Jesus had a drinking problem. At first, maybe it didn't seem so bad, nights out, a few too many drinks. But soon, it became a pattern. He spent hours away from home, leaving her with the weight of the household. Then came the infidelities. She discovered them, ignored them, forgave them, and ignored them again.
Starting point is 00:07:25 She couldn't believe this was the same man she had fallen for so passionately. The honeymoon phase was over. The fairy tale had cracked wide open, revealing the hard truth underneath. She was stuck in a loveless, unstable marriage. Still, she stayed. She didn't want to repeat her mother's story, raising children alone after a separation. She thought she could hold the family together, even if it meant swallowing her pain. More children, more burdens.
Starting point is 00:07:59 Three years after SED's birth, she got pregnant again. This time, a baby girl, Lesha Sophia. But once again, Joy was shadowed by medical problem. Lesha was born with a heart condition that required constant care. Andromeda's responsibilities doubled. Her husband, instead of stepping up, pulled further away. The absences grew longer, the arguments harsher. And this time, according to her later testimony, the fights often turned violent,
Starting point is 00:08:31 not just words, but physical aggression. Money wasn't much help either. Jesus was spending large portions of his salary on alcohol and parties. Once again, Andromeda had to find creative ways to stretch the family budget, selling her crafts for extra cash. She endured. Not because life was easy, but because she wanted to keep her family intact. Another pregnancy, another blow. A few years later, Andromeda got pregnant a third time.
Starting point is 00:09:07 By then, the marriage was already fragile. The new baby brought more uncertainty, more expenses, and more fights. And then, the worst blow, she found out about more affairs. New betrayals stacked on top of old wounds. And that's where the storm truly began. To be continued.
