Starting point is 00:01:00 They were moving like they wanted to stab someone, swinging around the car, lunging forward just to back off again. The girls were screaming, ducking, dodging, it was chaos. Like some sick, choreographed dance that didn't quite make sense. It wasn't a straight-up attack, more like they were trying to scare them, get in their heads. Sam, being Sam, tried to cool things down. She stepped out in front of the group, stood by the car, and raised her voice over the chaos, telling them all to calm the hell down. She didn't get it. None of it made sense to her.
Starting point is 00:01:37 She told the strangers that no one meant any harm, that whatever was said wasn't meant to insult anyone. She was trying to be the peacemaker. But just as she was doing that, another figure appeared behind her. Out of the darkness came a girl, someone no one had seen before. She walked straight up to Sam, didn't look left or right, didn't hesitate. Then, bam, she pulled a knife out and just started stabbing. No words. No warning. Just rage.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Sam didn't even get a chance to react. The knife kept coming, from all directions. Witnesses later said they couldn't even tell how many times she got stabbed. But the autopsy. It said 43 times. Ten of those stab wounds were so deep they went clean through her body. Her face, chest, stomach, back, it was like the killer poured all their hatred into every single strike. Experts said this wasn't random.
Starting point is 00:02:40 It was deeply personal. Whoever did it hated Sam with everything they had. But the twist? No one knew who the girl was. Her face didn't ring a bell for any of Sam's friends. And then, poof, she and the other two disappeared. Each took off in a different direction, swallowed up by the night. And here's the thing, no one could believe it.
Starting point is 00:03:05 Who could hate Sam? Everyone loved her. There was no reason, no beef, no bad blood. And the cops. They hit a wall. No leads. Nothing. The days dragged by.
Starting point is 00:03:22 The town was still reeling, and the media couldn't let it go. Then, on August 5th, the police got a call. Anonymous. The person on the other end claimed they knew who'd done it. Some online forums named names, an 18-year-old guy and a 20-year-old woman. Others said it was a 30-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman. Either way, the tip said that on the night Sam was murdered, the pair showed up at this guy's house, covered in blood. He let them in, not thinking too much of it.
Starting point is 00:03:55 They were known troublemakers, always getting into fights. They said they needed to use his bathroom. He let them. Thought it was just some street fight, gang drama, nothing major. But then the next morning, he saw the news. Eighteen-year-old girl stabbed to death in the street. Brutal. And that's when he panicked.
Starting point is 00:04:18 He picked up the phone and called the cops. The next day, August 6, the two suspects were picked up and hauled to the station. Hours of interrogation followed. They didn't deny being there. They didn't even deny knowing the girl who did it. They just wouldn't say her name. Wouldn't explain why she did it.
Starting point is 00:04:41 They clammed up. So the police were still stuck, until the very next day. August 7th. A mother and her daughter walked into the station. The mom said her daughter had something to confess. They sat her down, and this girl, 15 years old, calmly said she was the one who killed Sam Madgeon. Just like that. But here's the kicker, she claimed she didn't remember doing it.
Starting point is 00:05:08 Her name was Jordan Jobson. Not much was known about her at the time, she was a minor, so the media kept things vague. But we know she was born around 1991 or 1992 in Walker, a neighborhood in Newcastle. She had no criminal record, but her reputation was rough. Drug use. Skipping School Attitude problems. Always hanging around with older, sketchy people.
Starting point is 00:05:37 Some folks said she fell in with the wrong crowd. Others said she was the wrong crowd. She'd been using drugs for years, and according to her statement, the night of the murder she was completely wrecked. When asked why she did it, she said she didn't. No. She didn't even know who Sam was. Claimed she'd never seen her before. Didn't recognize the name. And the night of the killing, it was all a blur. She remembered what happened before. She even remembered specifics, six beers, three pints of cider
Starting point is 00:07:15 mixed with coke and eight lines of coke. But the murder itself Gone. Just wiped from her brain. She said she flew into a rage. That's something about the night snapped inside her. One of her friends had told her someone disrespected them, said something rude, and that was it. She grabbed a knife, stormed out, and found Sam. Then came the stabbing. That was her story. But experts called BS. With that amount of substances in her system, shouldn't have been able to stand, let alone carry out a frenzied knife attack. She was 15. Small. Skinny. Her body should have shut down. Passed out. And yet she remembered every detail before and after, just not the attack itself. Highly suspect. And the stabbing? Forty-three times.
Starting point is 00:08:15 Ten of them piercing clean through? That wasn't just random rage. That was personal. Intentional. Vicious. How could someone attack with such force if they didn't even know the victim? Still, the court took her version at face value. Witnesses confirmed they didn't recognize Jordan. No connections to Sam. The story stuck. A tragic, senseless killing, wrong place, wrong time. That's what they called it. Jordan's trial happened in 2000. The other two accomplices. Never charged. No more info was ever released about them. It was all about Jordan. Sam's family was devastated, not just by the crime, but by how Jordan was treated in court. She showed no remorse. Came in dress to impress, looking like she was ready for tea, not trial. Her lawyers treated her like a delicate flower. And she? She knew. She knew. She knew. never flinched. No emotion. No guilt. Like she hadn't just taken a life. In the end, Jordan was sentenced to life with a minimum of 15 years before she'd be eligible for parole. But it didn't stick. After two appeals, her sentence got knocked down to 11 years. Then she was moved to an open prison, basically a halfway house, to prepare for release. But that didn't go well. She started threatening other inmates. Breaking rules. Being aggressive. So she was sent back to a more secure facility. But even that wasn't enough. In December 2020, Jordan was granted parole. She was out. Free. But that didn't last. Just six months later, she was back behind bars. Violated parole conditions. Same issues.
Starting point is 00:10:18 aggression, rule-breaking, instability. And that's when social media exploded with theories. A popular one. Jordan did know Sam. Just not personally. Everyone in town knew who Sam was. Her social media was filled with her modeling photos, her perfect little family, her beautiful baby. She had the life Jordan never would. Maybe that's why she snapped. Maybe that night wasn't random at all. According to this theory, Jordan and her two friends planned it. They waited in that alley, saw the girls coming, faked the weird little knife chase to throw them off. Then Jordan went in for the kill when Sam was distracted. Forty-three stab wounds. That's not random. That's rage. That's obsession. That's jealousy. But the courts didn't buy it. They stuck to the official story.
