Lupita Rojas was one of those girls everyone in the neighborhood seemed to know. Always smiling, always in motion, always trying to turn even the dullest afternoon into something memorable.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Her full name was Maria Guadalupe Rojas Vasquez, but family and friends just called her Lupita. She was born around 1990 in the Mexican state of Durango, a region known for its rugged landscapes, hardworking people and its endless mix of traditions. She grew up in a modest household where money was tight but affection was never lacking. Her mother, Margarita Vasquez, was the pillar of the family, the kind of woman who could stretch a few pesos into a full meal for everyone and still save enough to buy her daughter a small notebook for school. From the time she was little, Lupita showed signs of being different. Not different in a strange or unusual way, but in that sparkly, contagious, magnetic way some kids naturally have. She was always curious, always asking
Starting point is 00:02:06 questions, and constantly looking for ways to learn more about the world. Her neighborhood friends remember her as the girl who ran barefoot down the street with her hair flying everywhere, laughing at the top of her lungs. Even when her family faced difficulties, she didn't let it weigh her down. She was a light-hearted child who found joy in little things, sharing candies with friends, helping her mom stir the beans on the stove, or inventing songs with her cousins. Growing up in Durango in the 90s wasn't easy. Opportunities were limited, especially for girls from humble families. But Lupita had something many others didn't, determination. From her earliest school years, she stood out not only for her academic responsibility but also for the
Starting point is 00:02:53 way she related to others. Teachers described her as a respectful, hard-working, student, always eager to help her classmates. And beyond the classroom, she loved participating in community events. Whether it was helping with local festivals, lending a hand in cleaning projects, or joining school dances, Lupita wanted to be there, to be part of something bigger than herself. Her teenage years were marked by a strong interest in art and music. She loved singing, even if she wasn't always in tune, and she never missed a chance to dance. It wasn't about being perfect, it was about expressing herself. But little by little, another passion started to stand out, the world of beauty. She became fascinated with hairstyles, makeup, and
Starting point is 00:03:42 skin care. It wasn't vanity, it was creativity. She would spend hours practicing braids on her cousin's hair, experimenting with colors and styles. This budding interest eventually defined the path she wanted to follow. She dreamed of becoming a professional stylist, opening her own salon someday, and creating a future that didn't depend solely on survival but on pursuing what she loved. Her parents were proud of her. They didn't have much, but they gave her the strongest foundation they could, values. Lupita learned early the importance of work, sacrifice, and persistence.
Starting point is 00:04:22 And with those tools, she put it. pushed forward. After finishing secondary school, she decided to dedicate herself to studying beauty and styling. She learned about makeup, facials, treatments, and haircuts. It was hard, balancing classes with helping out at home, but she was motivated by the idea of independence. She wanted to carve out her own destiny. It was around this time when she was just 18 that she met the man who would change her life forever, though not in the way she imagined. His name was Unheel Shur-Iza-Dai Molina Quayar.
Starting point is 00:05:00 He was a few years older than her, confident, charismatic, and at first glance, he seemed like the kind of man any young girl could easily fall for. They met at a party. Music was blasting, people were laughing, and when Unhell approached her, he did so with the kind of boldness that immediately caught her off guard. He complimented her, made her laugh, and before long, they were talking like old friends. Unhell wasn't a complete stranger to the community. He was the son of a woman named Leonardo, and he had siblings, José Luis and Aaron Dira.
Starting point is 00:05:37 Still, little else was known about his personal life. What mattered to Lupida that night was the way he made her feel, seen, appreciated, special. a couple of dates where he acted like a true gentleman, opening doors, bringing small gifts, and treating her like she was the only person in the world, Lupita surrendered to what felt like true love. They became a couple. The beginning of their relationship was painted in sweet. Ice skating.I.E. has Christmas in mind. Dublin's most loved ice skating, the finest you'll find. They went for walks, visited iconic places in the city, and dreamed out loud about the future. Lupita's family noticed she was glowing. She was happier, more confident, and although some friends raised their eyebrows about the age gap and the speed of the relationship, most people simply accepted it. No one suspected that behind Angel's charm lurked darker traits that would eventually surface. At first, Unhell blended smoothly into Lupita's family.
Starting point is 00:07:36 He showed respect, he laughed with them, and he tried to earn their approval. But slowly, little red flags appeared. He started showing controlling behaviors, subtle at first, easy to dismiss. Maybe a comment about what she wore, a complaint about her spending too much time with friends, or a suggestion that she shouldn't work so much. Whenever they argued, his temper flared, only for him to come back later with apologies, gifts, or promises of change. Lupita, inexperienced in serious relationships, believed him. She wanted to to keep the peace, convinced that love meant forgiveness and that patience could overcome anything. After a couple of years together, they decided to get married. Lupita was only 20, still practically
Starting point is 00:08:25 a girl herself, but she was deeply in love and thought she was making the right choice. Soon after, they welcomed their first child, a baby boy named Ospin. Becoming a mother filled Lupita with joy. She adored her son, and even though life wasn't perfect, she felt she had a purpose. Sadly, that joy was short-lived. Not long after Ospin's birth, Unhell abandoned them. Just like that. No explanations that truly justified it, no apologies strong enough to excuse the act. He left Lupida to raise their son alone. For a while, Lupita tried to hold on, telling herself he might come back, that things could change. But as the months passed, it became painfully clear she was on her own.
Starting point is 00:09:15 And yet, she didn't give up. She poured all her energy into raising her son, working as much as she could as a stylist, and keeping her dreams alive, even if they seemed farther away now. But the story didn't end there. Years later, Unhell returned, weaving himself back into Lupita's life. The relationship resumed, but the cycle of control, jealousy, and tension became stronger. Friends and relatives noticed the change in Lupita. The once-always smiling girls started to appear tired, withdrawn.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Still, she tried to hide the truth. Victims of toxic relationships often do, hoping things will improve, hoping the good moments will outweigh the bad. By 2022, tragedy was looming. What had started as a youthful love story spiraled into something darker, culminating in an event that shocked Durango and left the community mourning. One day that year, the unthinkable happened, Lupita's life was violently taken. The details of the crime shook everyone, sparking outrage, sadness, and above all, a desperate
Starting point is 00:10:25 demand for justice. People couldn't believe that the joyful, hardworking girl they'd known had met such an end. the suspected perpetrator. The very man she had once trusted with her heart. Investigations began, but as is often the case, progress was slow. Authorities seemed stuck, unable, or unwilling to deliver answers quickly. Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and frustration grew. Lupita's family, who had once been so hopeful that justice would prevail, started to feel their faith slipping away. Each delay, Each unanswered question was another wound.
Starting point is 00:11:06 The case became more than just a private tragedy. It was a story the whole community followed, a symbol of so many similar cases where women's voices are silenced and justice feels out of reach. To be continued.
