Hi, hello, welcome back to Even More Mondays, the only Monday that Mondays, and perhaps
is released on a Tuesday.
I'm Katie Stoll.
Hi, Katie.
No, that was perfect.
Welcome to Even Monday News. I'm Cody on Tuesday. Hi, Katie. Did I do that again? No, that was perfect. Welcome to Even Monday News.
I'm Cody on Tuesday for yousday.
Zday, there it is.
That's it.
Jonathan's also here.
Oh, that wasn't it.
Jonathan's also here.
Ow.
Hi.
Ow.
Ow.
Jonathan Peck sound off.
Ow, ow, ow.
The news.
So yeah, the Trump administration's arresting judges now.
Two judges were arrested, I think, back to back on Friday.
Criminal judges, right?
Well, I was going to say, are they activist judges?
I mean, they're clearly far left activist judges
legislating from the bench.
So they had it coming.
No, one was a Milwaukee Circuit court judge named Hannah Dugan.
She was charged with two felonies obstructing a US agency and concealing an individual to
prevent an arrest.
What happened is she had a case in front of her, this man, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, who has
been kind of flagged for deportation and was going through that process, right?
The due process that everyone is entitled to.
And then ICE comes in and they said,
we want to take this guy right now.
And she said, okay, do you have a warrant?
And they said, well, we have an administrative warrant,
which is not a real warrant.
It's an internal document that ICE passes around saying,
we want this person.
So Judge Dugan says, no,
that's not how this works. There's this process.
Question. A judge, they're bound to the law, right? Like they need to, you know, respond
to the proper paperwork. Am I getting this right?
Right. It's a buy the book thing. They don't work for ICE.
It is a judge.
It is a judge.
They're not supposed to like help or antagonize ICE.
It's imperative that they don't work with ICE.
Sure.
And so if ICE shows up like a fucking dumb ass
with the wrong paperwork,
it is within the realm of possibility or probability or even duty that a judge would
say, you can't interrupt my court proceedings, but you can do it outside.
Which they did. I mean, ICE promptly arrested this guy after Judge Dugan had him and his
attorneys go out a separate door, not like the front door. This is fucking horrific escalation in such a short period of time.
But there's a lot of misinformation about this.
What actually seems to have happened is that, yes, she pointed him to go through a separate
door that still led to the hallway, ultimately. He walked into the hallway to where the ICE agents were,
and according, I mean, everything,
we will learn more information in the coming days,
but apparently he rode the elevator downstairs
with the ICE agents, and then they arrested him outside.
So she literally, she wasn't harboring a fugitive.
She sent him on his way.
Yeah, this whole thing is a stunt, right?
They're trying to make a big flashy show
of no one is above the law.
And, you know, Cash Patel tweeted out
that she had been arrested before she had been.
And she was quickly, by the way, they arrested her
and then released her,
and she has a court hearing date in May. So this is not a, she's not an El Salvador
kind of thing, not that I'm trying to put a positive
spin on this, I just want it to be clear.
No, it's so horrific.
But it is positive that they didn't send her
to El Salvador, I suppose, right?
Yes, it's positive that we're all here
and not in El Salvador.
And able to talk about it before they send more people to El Salvador.
And the other judge, it's a slightly different scenario.
This is a Doña Ana County magistrate judge in New Mexico named Jose Luis Joel Cano and
his wife Nancy Cano.
They were arrested for allowing a man named Christian Ortega Lopez to live in their ADU.
He had temporary protected status and what they're going after this judge for is allowing the guy
with TPS to use firearms and keep firearms since he's not allowed to do that by the terms of his TPS. And then the judge tried to maybe hide, maybe help him out a little bit by destroying a
phone with photos on it of him holding guns.
So that element of it about whether or not that, you know, he was, they were letting
this person use their guns out of gun range and that's its own category.
But what he's arrested for is harboring
a known Trenda Agua gang member,
of which there is no evidence to support that at all.
And yeah, he probably, it sounds like,
according to the rules of TPS,
and he as a judge should know that technically,
not technically, that this guy wasn't allowed to have guns,
but that is a different consideration, a wildly different
consideration than this.
And I don't know if judges would have been, people would have been arrested
for that.
You know, again, this is another case where they say this guy is a
Trendy Aragwa gang member because of tattoos and photos and things, but
there's no real evidence.
Um, Trendy Aragwa experts have said repeatedly
there are no identifying tattoos associated with being in the gang.
So this is another one of those,
uh, whether or not you think this judge did something by the book wrong.
This is an effort to make their argument,
to elevate this, uh, to another another level and I think win back some
Americans to their side.
We saw earlier today there are now a bunch of posters, poster boards outside of the White
House that say like with pictures of people and it says arrested, murder, arrested, serial
assault or sexual assault on a child.
Yeah, they littered the White House lawn
with fascist propaganda is what they're doing.
Correct.
This is super gross.
Again, it's sort of, yeah, you're like trying to
bring this issue to the forefront and also feed like,
it's like red meat to their base,
while also making it easier to arrest judges
and deport more people without due process.
Or, well, so there's an alternative theory
about what's going on here
from a friend of the show, Greg Gutfeld.
Maybe this judge has a backstory with this illegal,
could it be it's not just the gavel that she's banging?
Oh, what?
Gutfeld, anything for a laugh.
Anything for a bit of a guffaw.
He's back in his mind going,
well, you bang a gavel and you also bang a person sexually.
No one else is gonna come up with that connection.
That's not the lowest hanging fruit possible.
We gotta get that one on TV.
I wanna circle back.
You don't wanna talk about gut-filled?
Not much more.
Hannah Dugan and Flores Ruiz,
one of the points being brought up is,
you know, what the fuck,
trotting around on Fox News talking about how,
he was, his court date was about,
you know, an abusive situation, you know, on Fox News talking about how his court date was about,
you know, an abusive situation, you know, like what about the women that he's abused?
You didn't allow them to get their day in court.
You are interrupting a court proceeding.
Like no one's defending the potential crimes
that this man may or may not have done.
What we are defending is the right to due process.
And that is for both him and for our judicial system,
but for the potential victims that
were having their day in court and having their opportunity
to get justice.
So across the board, that argument
doesn't fucking do it for me, you idiot.
But that's what they're going with.
Yeah, I mean, they wanna muddy the waters.
They wanna go out there and say,
like, look, the Democrats love criminals and crimes,
and they love all these violent gang members.
That's not what's going on, and they know it.
They just wanna, they have to say that.
It's all they have.
It usually works for them.
Right, but when you're doing these things
that they're doing and depriving people of their rights,
they have to frame it like that's not what they're doing.
And actually, it's just because Dems love crime.
Well, we do.
You know, like Biden deported a lot of people.
Obama deported a lot of people.
Based on the little information about this man that I know,
he probably would have ended up being deported, right?
Like this goes through the process
and the end of the process is
people like this are frequently deported.
We try to elevate the national conversation
and say like, let's take a look at this,
but that's the way it has gone in this country
for a long time.
These people get deported.
That's what would have happened here anyway.
And they're just trying to make a show of force.
Trump is signing executive orders today to step it up.
We gotta do it faster and looser, you see.
It's gotta be faster and looser.
Right as this happened, I fired off something.
Fine, a fine tweet.
Don't fire off tweets, never fire off tweets.
It's fine.
There was a lot of support for the tweet.
Lots of likes and retweets.
More than I've had in a long time because I don't use that site tweet, lots of likes and retweets, more than I've had in a long time,
because I don't use that site.
We love our likes and retweets.
Congratulations.
The thanks, guys, that's what I was setting up for us for my thanks and accolades. I don't know why I'm shocked.
But all, so there's obviously a lot of people agree with it, but all the comments are about fucking, like, finally about time, no one's above the law. Arrest the judges, oh, liberal judges,
oh, you're too stupid to understand.
And that's fine, I'm not asking that to defend,
for my honor to be defended in some capacity.
I'm saying that because it's truly galling for me
how many people are taking the bait,
are taking the, and it shouldn't be, because it happens every time,
but this is such a lie in the sand to me.
And I know that the internet is just the worst of the worst,
so I should keep that in mind,
but it's pretty fucking demoralizing.
They're fascist, Katie, they're fascist.
I've been keyed up all weekend about it.
They love it, they're fascist.
It's what the movement's all about, they love it.
If arresting judges is not your line in the sand, weekend about it. They love it. They're fascists. It's what the movement's all about. They love it.
If arresting judges is not your line in the sand, perhaps renditioning children with cancer
who are US citizens to other countries they've never been to is.
Three US citizen children were sent out of the country this weekend along with their
mothers.
These are two different stories. The children
involved are aged. One family, there's a four-year-old and a seven-year-old, and another, there is
a two-year-old. The four-year-old has metastatic cancer, was being treated here in the US.
ICE says the mothers who were being deported, who were undocumented immigrants, ICE says the mothers who were being deported, who were undocumented immigrants,
ICE says that they had the chance to leave the children
here with other guardians and chose not to.
The lawyers for these families say that that is not the case.
Again, these are US citizen children.
So despite...
SHAREEE KAPOOR-GOOPAL-MARIAH-BARBARA-MARIAH
...being taken to a place they probably have never been to.
GOOPAL-GOOPAL-MARIAH-BARBARA-MARIAH
And the mothers were detained during routine check-ins.
They have something called ISAP, which is granted to people who are here who are undocumented
but are not deemed as threats, and they do regular check-ins.
And the whole idea of these check-ins is to make people feel safe, because if you take
that away and people are getting detained at these check-ins, they're not going to go anymore. They're not going to show up to things that they usually
show up to. They're not going to pay taxes. All of the things we expect people to do.
That they do.
Jonathan, how else are they going to get all these violent criminals out of our country?
I don't know, but that's not our fucking problem.
Mom's are oftentimes overlooked, but they are the most violent of violent criminals, doling out punishment to their kids.
Well, it's just like, if you're gonna be getting rid
of millions of people, some babies are gonna fall
through the cracks.
You're gonna send some babies away.
You're gonna get some sick kids,
and there's just nothing, there's nothing you can do
about it, because it's like, how are we gonna know
that this happened, right? Like, it's nothing you can do about it because it's like how are we gonna know that this happened?
Right?
Like it's not like we know that it's happening
and that they're doing it.
And so there's nothing to be done about it
is what I think that I'm facetiously saying.
I'm so sorry.
I don't even like saying that actually.
Okay.
Well, I'm trying to like say what they say, but it sucks.
How do they live like this?
How do they say, how do they think these things?
I mean, Gutfeld admitted it.
He says, I don't have the mental shelf space out of my mind.
I know.
They're basically both Jesse Waters and Greg Gutfeld admit
that like, well, this isn't good if you think about it.
So I'm just not going to think about it.
Despite the fact that having mental shelf space
for issues to talk about on television is their jobs.
It's what they're supposed to do.
Literally their jobs.
He shouldn't be able to complain about,
I don't have enough room in my head for this stuff.
Fox News should suspend him.
It's your job.
Get somebody else to talk about the news on TV
because you're supposed to do it all the time
and think about it.
That's exactly what they want him to say.
They don't want him to be talking
about this terrible fucking story.
They want him to say like, to desensitize us to it.
I don't have room for this.
Let's focus on liberal judges instead.
I mean it is funnier because they're winning and happier, right?
Like yeah, if you don't think about this stuff, way better, way better to do that.
But unfortunately, this is reality.
I also didn't mention that the mother of the two-year-old
was apparently pregnant, and it's also against ICE policy to
detain pregnant women.
Does ICE care? Do they care about their policy? Do they follow policy?
No. They don't.
They barely have,
they have published policies out there,
but it's not like they care.
And the borders czar, who is not the head of ICE,
I don't know what Tom Homan borders czar, what his,
like, that's not a job, is it?
News guy, you go on the news and you talk about it.
It's his job to go and take questions
next to Carolyn Levitt this morning and say,
well, we don't care, we're following the law, so the end.
And no, you're not.
That's basically his role, yeah.
Right, no, you're not.
It's just schmucky.
They're acting extremely schmucky and bad.
It's bad.
I feel so fucking angry this morning.
I'm trying to figure out what to say that isn't just so negative.
I'd like to play this clip from Attorney General Pam Bondi who went on Fox News over the weekend.
I'm assuming it's good.
Well, she's going to defend the arrest of judges.
Constitution?
And have a warning.
Never mind.
For people who might do what they
did. So let's take a look at this.
Sound great.
What's happened to our judiciary is beyond me.
So when the American public hears this and they think these were once upstanding people
in their communities and their professions and they put it all on the line for this.
Have you dug into their motive?
What inspired them to carry out these acts and harbor criminals?
They're deranged is all I can think of.
I cannot believe, I think some of these judges think they are beyond and above the law, and
they are not.
And we're sending a very strong message today.
If you are harboring a fugitive, we don't care who you are.
If you are helping hide one,
if you are giving a TDA member guns,
anyone who is illegally in this country,
we will come after you and we will prosecute you.
We will find you.
They're deranged is all I can think of.
The quote.
Why are they doing this?
Why?
They just, I can't think of any reason
except that they are deranged.
Deranged and you, we need to remove them from society
because you can't be around,
we don't wanna be around deranged people.
Deranged people are scary.
They're criminal judges.
Yeah, they're gonna find you. They're criminal judges. Yeah, they're going to find you.
It's very alarming.
They keep pushing and pushing and pushing.
I think they're arguing now that they can basically,
because of the Alien Enemies Act,
just go into your home without a warrant
if they suspect anything related to,
just like if they suspect that you are in any way related to or harboring or like no,
an alien enemy as they would describe it, whatever category, like whatever, however they define that, if they use that word they can
go into your home without a warrant is what they're arguing.
It's like they want to remind you of the Holocaust. It's like they use the same phrases.
If you harbor illegal aliens, it's like, do you want me to think of Anne Frank?
Is that specifically like the story you want me to be feeling or you want me to, obviously
the same thing, dehumanize the people this is happening to?
They hate that Kilmar Obrearcia was such a big story.
It seems to have turned a portion of Americans against them on this issue. So they'd much rather
go back to the things that work for them. Uh, activist judges, some of whom were appointed by
Trump, you know, harboring, uh, illegals or, um, you know, legislating from the bench, going
against a duly elected president.
Yeah, it's all there.
It's all just so obvious.
And yeah, the White House lawn photos,
every single step of the way.
The foreign prison stuff,
Anne Frank died in a foreign prison.
At what point are we allowed to just sort of like
talk about this plainly?
It's like what they're doing.
Germany had camps set up in other countries
with horrible conditions where,
what did Anne Frank die of?
Typhus?
While she was there.
Oh, not the Nazis then, okay.
Yeah, they were only indirectly responsible.
Obviously being flippant.
Yeah, no, no, no.
It would be anti-Semitic of us to make any comparisons to the Holocaust
because we're the anti-Semitic ones, I guess.
Okay, well, I guess just get your papers in order.
Make sure you always have your papers at all times.
Get your papers in order.
Get those real IDs too.
Because they might be like, where are your papers?
Literally, they're all talking about this right now.
They're all, this is how they talk.
It is truly horrifying.
I know, we live in a world where you can be walking
down the street and someone goes,
papers please, like in a movie.
That's what they want, like that's the reasonable
take they're going with.
People hate this shit.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think that's important.
Despite the response to my tweet,
I think it's important to highlight
that that is not an accurate sample, sampling
of the population. Some fake news polls did come out.
Yeah. I mean, I think the first poll that has Trump in the 30s in terms of approval
came out 39% to 59%. APNORC was the one that had him minus 20. And he's underwater with
every issue, including immigration. And of course, when
you drill down and ask specifically about some of these things about, hey, do you like
that a US citizen child has been sent to Honduras? That's very unpopular. Obviously, he's the
president. There's nothing you can do about that right now. They're not going to impeach
him. Or they might, you know, they might go through a little impeachment process in
2026-2027. Do a little play acting, do a little AI. Right. Play the hits. You know, it helps
I think our one advantage in this is that
Authoritarians who take over and solidify power tend to be pretty popular when they do that or
have power, tend to be pretty popular when they do that, or have extensive support within
the military.
And look, I'm not saying the military is a bunch of activist leftists, but I don't know
that he's at the point where he can order them to open fire on Americans and that they'll
do it.
That's the hope that they're not.
I know, we're crossing our fingers.
But you know, he's not popular right now
He is the least popular a president has been in a hundred days
In 80 years except I think tied with himself, right?
And as we've talked about this before but like, you know as soon as you like you're gonna remember
We're all gonna remember like people who voted for him and like, well, maybe this time, everybody
instantly is remembering how a obnoxious he is, but also how evil he is, and incompetent.
And his whole like clown show of a process I want to point out. So like speaking of papers,
please, and somebody like Madaglacius, glibly talking about how maybe we should do
that. There's a certain faction of pundits in that realm, the reasonable ones, the reasonablests,
the smart centrist types who are like, well, maybe you should be worried about what salient
issues you are talking about, what issues you're making salient for the public, because
they actually like his stuff on immigration. We've talked about this.
I think we talked about it literally last week.
If you have moral clarity on an issue
and you are protecting people's rights,
and this is actually an important thing to do,
you can make it an issue that people don't like anymore.
The fact that people are like,
well, he's actually doing pretty good on immigration. So talk about how
he actually sucks on it, then people will realize that it's
bad. And you'll bring that number down too. And it just
seems like maybe it's a good idea to talk about things with
moral clarity and that do matter. Even if they're not
like, oh, it's like an 80-20 issue, whatever the issue is,
it doesn't matter if it's unpopular or popular
because popular opinion can change, obviously.
With information.
Obviously.
They change and influence popular opinion
by talking about things,
and people respect someone who has conviction
even if they don't agree.
They say it about Trump all the time.
Well, I don't agree with that,
but you know, he really believes it.
So, Bernie Sanders.
I mean, Rogan would say it about Bernie Sanders.
I might not agree on all of his politics,
but I respect that he has this opinion
that he's trying to make stuff happen
and that he actually cares.
Well, that's what he has said in the past.
Nobody doubts that Bernie Sanders
doesn't like the oligarchy.
He's been talking about it for decades.
Trump, you read his Time Magazine interview,
no one knows what the hell the guy believes.
I couldn't read that.
I just...
It's too good.
I still, I, it's just too frustrating.
And I don't even think that person
was doing a terrible job, but you just can't,
you can't fact check him on everything.
Before we started
recording, I think that I was irritated by talking to Jonathan, as he's talking about
how this great meeting with all the executives, you know, heads of Walmart, and you know,
they're excited, they're happy. And then, but the actual reporting from that event was
that they were telling, warning Donald Trump that their shelves are about to be bare in
a couple weeks.
You know, he's got his interpretation, you've got yours.
It's his truth and he's living it, okay?
That's his lived experience,
is being complimented all the time,
and if that's not what other people experience, then.
Being able to say whatever he wants, and that is truth.
Just on the polling, I wanna highlight,
I mean, Donald Trump obviously reacted well to these pollings.
No, there's been some truths today.
Is he mad?
Is he thinking it's good?
He's been truthing.
We don't have a free and fair press
in this country anymore.
We have a press that writes bad stories
and cheats big on polls.
It is compromise and corrupt, sad.
And then the other one was, it's too long.
But it's basically saying fake polls
from fake news organizations
that this is election fraud somehow.
Deranged, sick.
They are truly the enemy of the people.
Some just solid rhetoric.
The old hits.
So he was tweeting this while a bunch of CNN pundits
who argue for a living all the time to each other on camera So he was tweeting this while a bunch of CNN pundits
who argue for a living all the time to each other on camera
are dressed up taking little selfies with each other,
little cute little selfies,
palin' around with their little Nazi pundit friends
who are constantly talking about how the left hates
Western civilization and is doing everything they can
to dismantle Western civilization through, I guess,
somebody bringing in immigrants to deteriorate and is doing everything they can to dismantle Western civilization through, I guess, somebody
bringing in immigrants to deteriorate our nation.
But you know, you got to dress up, you got to do your little selfies.
So maybe Trump's once again right in a wrong way or wrong in a right way.
I don't know.
But I think the press is actually pretty cool with him,
despite a lot of reporting.
Not everybody, but it's good for business.
Let's not forget that the press,
even the unflattering press,
the news organizations in general
are like salivating over Donald Trump,
and it's just good for business.
I don't think much anymore.
I mean, obviously I saw the photo of Caitlin Collins
with Scott Jennings at CNN.
We love him.
They're palling around.
We love Scott, yeah.
But like they're getting the picture
at a lot of these organizations.
60 Minutes, the executive producer,
the longtime executive producer at 60 Minutes
was forced out because
Paramount tried to control too much because Paramount's got this merger going on and they
talked about that on 60 Minutes.
So you know, I don't think, you know, obviously they love Trump 2015, right?
Oh, the circus, we can put him on TV. I think they get the picture now that he is a serious threat.
And the Trump alignment with corporations
is a serious threat to their independence.
Bad, bad.
I know most people do, it's all bad and sad.
But Columbus Day is back, folks.
He's bringing back the genocide slave man holiday.
Christopher is gonna be back and genocide slave man holiday.
Christopher is gonna be back and bigger than ever before.
I read that whole tweet with Adriana Christopher voice
from The Sopranos.
That's what you gotta do.
That's what you gotta do.
All right, before we go,
we have one bit of positive news, actually.
Good news and good things happen when you push back.
The Trump administration says it is backing off of taking away student visas for all kinds of speech bullshit.
A lot of visas were revoked because students had minor traffic violations,
they went through a stop sign or something and they're taking away the visas,
they've reversed themselves on this one and they won't be doing it until they can analyze
the program.
Yeah, because it is flagrantly illegal.
Yeah, and thousands of foreign students got their student visas re-buffed.
This is a positive news to end on.
I want to take away from the positivity slightly
by acknowledging that it shouldn't have happened at all.
Oh, sure.
And that it's such a, it feels like a big victory
and it is, but it shouldn't have happened at all.
We've continued to undermine our,
I wouldn't want to send my child to school here.
Yeah.
I would be, yeah.
But we take the, you know, we take the good news.
We take the win.
It's good to stop things that should be stopped.
Also, and this is, I mean, I guess it's,
this is technically sad news.
Jerry Connolly is sick again,
but he is stepping down to take care of himself,
which is good news from the from the Oversight Committee. There's no word on who
will be replacing him, but it's good to take care of yourself and maybe retire
when you're sick and old and leaving that position open for somebody who can maybe do a little more with it in
these trying times.
I don't know where we go from here, except to wrap things up.
We love you very much.
Bye.
